I'm looking forward to Paramount's Beowulf on BluRay. For some reason, CG movies really benefit from the HD transfer. So I'm hoping that Disney releases all the older Pixar Movies on BluRay this year. I never got Toy Story 1 and 2 on DVD. I would love to finally own copies of them on BluRay.
The Rock (and The Host) are both 14.95 on Amazon.
Thanks for pointing this out - ended up getting those and Con Air & Crimson Tide at the same price.

I don't think they announced Toy Story, but they are releasing Finding Nemo this year.

Just let me know when The Incredibles is getting it's Blu release, that movie owns all the Pixar films.

Glancing at this week's Home Media Magazine, the advertisement for "There Will be Blood" makes *zero* mention of either an HD DVD version (as had been announced) or a BD version (which may happen now that Paramount's Blu again).

If nothing else, it suggests the HD DVD will not see release.

I didn't post it but two days ago it was reported that they took the dates off the HD DVD version from their internal media site.

Perhaps to prep BD version?

You and about 90% of America. :D

So does anyone have that import of Almost Famous? I was just wondering how the PQ was. One of the downfalls I read is that it doesnt have all the special features of the last special edition; but that seems to be a common problem for HD/BR.

QFT, Incredibles and Ratatouille are my favorite Pixar films. Glad to hear that Finding Nemo is getting a Blu release this year. Another fantastic film. Monsters Inc. also needs a to be on BluRay. One thing I hope is that they change up the special features on the BluRay releases. That way I don't feel too bad having both HD and SD releases of the films.

So since HD DVD is KIA, I guess I'm gonna get a PS3 some time this year, probably in the summer. So I guess I can start stocking up my Blu Ray library when they habe BOGO or B2GOs. I want 3:10 to Yuma to be on in one though...........

I HATE that movie because it's such a ripoff of the Fantastic 4. Any word on any animated movies not Marvel/DC/Pixar that are coming to Blu-Ray soon?

If history is any predictor, they'll probably give you $10 for owning the SD DVD releases, as they've done with Cars, Crimson Tide, Con Air, and The Rock.

What's that? The inevitable setup for a double dip? ;)

Looking for a nice high-end profile 2.0 player?
Goldmund has you covered.

GOLDMUND INTRODUCES FIRST HIGH-END BLU-RAY PLAYER

Los Angeles, February 25, 2008:

Goldmund, makers of the world's most extravagant and technologically advanced systems for audio-video purists, introduced today the company's first Blu-ray player, the Eidos 20 BD. With the announcement of the Eidos 20 BD, Goldmund becomes the first high-end audio/video manufacturer to issue a Blu-ray player. The Eidos 20 BD embodies the Goldmund high-tech refinement that has made the Swiss-based company a leader in the audiophile community for the last 30 years. Goldmund signature features found on the Eidos 20 BD include the "AC-Curator" power supply circuit which dramatically improves picture and sound stability and dynamics, and the "Mechanical Grounding" construction which removes from the player mechanism spurious vibrations blurring the video signal and increasing jitter. In addition, the new Eidos 20 BD uses the Goldmund "Magnetic Damper," a device lowering the reading errors, a feature that previously was exclusive to Goldmund's highest end devices.

"As a result of last week's news in regards to the format wars, Goldmund decided to launch the Eidos 20 BD earlier than we had originally planned to capture the attention of the industry that believes in the superior technological merits of the Blu-ray format," said Michel Reverchon, president of Goldmund. "The Blu-ray player is the perfect addition to our Goldmund Media Room, which requires high-definition playback and is the pinnacle of technological excellence."

Goldmund will begin taking orders for the Eidos 20 BD, which is priced at $16,900.

On a more realistic note, Sony just showed off two new models, both 2.0 players retailing at $400 and $500 respectively.

The $500 ones does just about everything I would ever want it to do.

TrueHD and DTS-MA HD decoding
TrueHD and DTS-MA HD bitstreaming.
7.1 analog out.

First BD "audio disc".

Guess if you're a fan of NiN it's good news.

Seems to be basically a DVD-A but with high res slideshow.

Gattica next week, bitches.
It's mine.

The PQ is alright...nothing great. Only 1 or 2 special features, so if you have the bootleg cut on DVD, KEEP IT.
Has Fox announced plans to release Fight Club yet?
I'd like to know too. This is my favorite movie.
man.. where have the bd deals been lately....

Deals?!?! You're kidding right?!?!? We fucking own the market. You'll pay what we damn well ask.
What he said.

is it me, or are the BR prices going up on amazon? i remember when Casino royale was 19.95 2 months ago and 9.99 when it was b1g1free. now it's 26.95! is this what happens when HD-DVD loses? damn. we really needed those hd-dvd guys to compete not to mention kick around. Hd-dvders were the best, they got kicked in the face and subsidized us too.
Does The Rock still come with the $10 MIR?
Some do. You have to check to make sure it has the sticker on the outer plastic saying it contains the rebate inside.
Did anyone pick up Initial D? Is the flick any good, and how is the picture quality?
Don't bother dude. It's Chinese. If it was an all Japanese cast and live action I'd be thumbs up but being it's all Chinese it would just feel like watching a bootleg.
Come on Sony Pictures Classics, give me "Persepolis" and "The Counterfeiters".

it's not all chinese. the girl is actually really japanese and some of the minor racers are japanese. The bottom line is the director, andrew lau, is top notch and the racing is awesome. Too bad the lead guy sucks.

Tartan UK announced some BD titles you might like Sarang?
Not sure:

A Tale of Two Sisters (April 14)
Paranoid Park (April 28)
Park Chan-wook's Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and I’m A Cyborg, But That’s OK (May 26)

Was all set to finally pick up "The Lives of Others" this week until it went up $6 on Amazon. Guess I'll just wait until it drops again or part of a BOGO/B2G1 sale.

My collection yearns for that film
What he said.
I would guess the lack of deals has to do with mostly it not being the holiday season anymore. Most of those sales were during the 4th quarter where most consumers spend the most money.

I would also like to know about Fight Club.

Thank you sir!...now if I could find one of the elusive BBy $5 off Blu-Ray coupons for the month of March I'll be set :D

Welp, finally got my PS3 repaired (only took 6 business days from me sending it out to getting it back, would've been quicker but rather than the 1 day service they use for when you return it; they only use 3 day when sending it back to you).

First thing I watched was what killed my last ps3, the DBZ Broly 2pack. Everything worked great, so hopefully i wont have any problems with this system. Its been a month and a half since i've watched a Blu-ray movie so i've got some backlog to catch up on over the weekend.

I'm not a huge fan of ID4, but if every release got that kind of treatment. Holy cow.

Anyone know where I can get Sunshine on Blu-ray for UNDER $20?

Let me know... Ridiculous price they charge right now and cheapest I found it was $10 off at Best Buy which made it around $25. I really like the movie but not THAT much and I refuse to spend more than $20 on any film.

DOH! If I knew this I would have looked harder!!

I picked up The Rock for 15 at BB
What's on it?

Oh, I guess you can't tell yet. :p
It's sealed...my guess is what's currently at Target stores...it mentions Cars and Pirates on it. I'll have to check the back again when I get home later tonight.
