Looks like I will be canceling my account. Their availability for new blu rays sucks as it is anyway.
Any coupons for The Orphanage?
You can price match Walmart.com's $24.87 if you want it now, or $24.99 and free shipping at Amazon if you can wait a week. I haven't found anything better than that.

Yeah, this is pure horseshit... do they charge more for people who rent Criterions?... no.

Alright, thanks.
Even if it was 5.1 it would be weak as hell.
Bingo! Though I can't understand why almost all of these older movies, they won't present the sound in PCM. It's not like stereo PCM or Mono will be a killer on BR, space or bitratewise.
Dallow you know it's on when I finally get my PS3, which will be VERY soon. Next week in fact. Muhahaha! The competition will start.

Just ordered the National Treasure 2 pack.

And I just realized V for Vendetta is coming out soon. Should be nice.

And this is a RUMOR, but the guy who runs buyhdmoviesonline.com posted over on HDD forums a picture of Cloverfield Blu Ray and July 20th under it.

Hello Cockbuster, unfortunately.

What's your source for this information?
Anyone pick up Independence Day and I Robot? I am wondering how the PQ and AQ are on both.
I, Robot is just about the best damn thing i've ever seen. Only slightly beaten out by Sunshine.

Off-topic, but wait for the Metal Gear PS3 package sometime in June I think.

Haha, what competion is that?

Sunshine is a substantially better movie, too.

People seem to like the Will Smith...I don't see the appeal, but whatever.

ID4 looks pretty decent for an older movie.. It is one of my fav's so its definitely on my "buy eventually" list..

Its currently 19.99 at amazon. (IMHO this should of been retail price though). Fox charges way too much for catalog titles.

And I, Robot being one of 2 (Bad Boys 2) movies that i like of his.

I don't think anyone else has noticed this yet, but Netflix wants to go up and charge BR owners more for renting BR. From Hi Def Digest:

Citing higher retail and wholesale prices, Netflix plans to implement a "modest monthly premium" for access to Blu-ray titles some time this year.

As confirmed through transcripts of Netflix's first quarter earnings call, President and CEO Reed Hastings made the announcement during the conference call yesterday.

"Purchasing Blu-ray DVDs costs more both at retail and wholesale than standard definition DVDs, and consumers are used to paying more for high-definition content in every other channel, including video rental stores, video-on-demand, and cable channels," Hastings stated. "Because of the higher cost of Blu-ray and the consumer expectations around high-def content, we are planning on implementing a modest monthly premium for access to Blu-ray some time this year."

No information was provided regarding a timeline for the price increase or the amount that might be charged. We'll be sure to keep you posted as we learn more regarding the company's plans for next generation subscribers.

If you ask me, thats total bullshit. They all ready have over 6 million customers. And not all of them have any hi def players or tvs. I all ready pay 30 a month for 5 out. If they want to increase by 2 or bucks, fine, I can deal with that. Anything more is milking it. But the way I see it is another way to throttle and bilk even more from people in this growing shitty economy. The dumbasses idea that "people are used to paying more" is malarky.

it was mentioned a couple of times on the last two pages

I just got The Orphanage. It says that the audio is 7.1 surround, but I only have 5.1. Whats gonna happen when I play it?

No, it's not malarky. People are paying more for BD. That's why they are more expensive in stores, on demand, etc.

The way it sounds to me is that IF you want BD rentals as part of your subscription it'll cost more. Otherwise, your charges will remain the same.

Which is absolutely bullshit because the competition does not do that at all.
I'd check out I am legend. Will smith looks delicious in 1080p...(in a non gay way)
There is no "non gay way" to that statement. :D

Paramoutn blu rays:

May 20th:
Cloverfield
Bee Movie
There Will Be Blood (sucks just bought 2 disk)
Face/Off
Next

June 24:
Spiderwick Chronicles
No Sweeney Todd?
My immediate reaction as well. About the only Paramount title I can think of that I'm interested in (Transformers too, of course).

Of course after I bought Cloverfield on DVD

And Sweeny Todd please. I haven't seen TWBB yet.

And this means day and date release for Iron Man?
My immediate reaction as well. About the only Paramount title I can think of that I'm interested in (Transformers too, of course).
You didn't like There Will Be Blood?

That was one of my top movies of the year along with Sweeney Todd.

---------

On a side note, when I went to Blockbuster to try to rent Grand Theft Auto, I noticed that they added a Blu-Ray rental section to the PS3 section of the store. Kind of cool even though there were only 20 something movies.
Thats old news. Even the Blockbusters in my little hick town have had Blu Rays for a while.
Old news? They just put it in today.

I know that some Blockbusters have them but it seems like they are expanding even more.

Good job Paramount for getting Bee Movie, Cloverfield, and There will be Blood but where is Transformers, Sweeney Todd, and Beowulf?

Universal also needs to put out The Bourne Trilogy on Blu-Ray as well.

Im just saying that Blockbuster reported they were putting in Bly ray sections in a bunch of stores back in August, I'm suprised yours just got one now

Is there a site that simply tells you which version (HD/BD) is better, without getting into the various PQ/SQ scores? Because, most of my collection right now exists of exclusives to either format, and soon I will be having to make choices.

Thanks.

BTW, up to two BDs as I bought Layer Cake last night (both of my BDs are Daniel Craig...:whistle2:k)
