blur - Gen. Discussion & Info

Got my code. It's not bad, although I'm waiting to see what's up with Split/Second before I buy any racing games. It's going to take a lot to get me to move on from Burnout Paradise & Revenge.

Regardless, I'm not going to be buying any Activision games, but maybe I'll Goozex it later on.

This game was not even on my radar but holy crap, it's likely a must buy for me thanks to this beta. Definitely the Mario Kart of 360.

activision didnt fuck you, marvel fucked activision.

1500 people and the servers are already taking a shit? Not a good sign.

Managed to get through a few races and it seems like a decent game, though I'm not a fan of the way the multiplayer is structured.

I don't know what you're talking about, but thanks anyway.

Well keep in mind It's still a beta, and despite the beta invites I seriously doubt this game will have 1500+ players at any given time. Forza 3 has a hard time getting that many players at selling 2+ million, and I don't see Blur selling much at all.

I got my beta code today I'm going to give this a whirl in the next few days.

This game is surprisingly good so far. A good mix of PGR4/Mario Kat/COD. 15+ Player races are fun chaos, and generally races are really unpredictable. Lot's of situations where you can be at the front of the pack on the last lap, but everyone unleashing a barrage of powers at the end can get everyone caught up to everyone.

They said it was more of a demo than an actual beta, so I expect it to be less buggy than it currently is.

They were anticipating a lot more people with sites getting hundreds of codes to hand out and Joystiq alone gave out 6,500 codes, so having the servers going down constantly at 1,500 is a serious issue. Then there are the stats wipes that are happening and the inability for matchmaking to fill the lobbies. I shouldn't be getting into a 20 person mode and end up racing against just four people.

Having alot of fun. Rank caps at level 10 which doesn't take long to get to :(. Only 2 A class cars. It also shows the CXR unlocks at rank 15. Maybe they'll raise the cap later in the beta and let us use it :D

It caps at 10? The tips in between loading screens indicated it that the beta caps at 15, and the final game is expected to cap out at 50.

I don't get what's wrong with the multiplayer structure. It's set up a lot like MW2.

Did my first race, no clue what the hell I was doing but I got 2nd. Uhh... I'm gonna pass on this game. It doesn't even look anywhere close to the trailer. Thank god too because it's one less game to have to buy.
This is sickeningly fun and absolutely crazy with a full list of people.

I haven't enjoyed a racing game this much in years.
Yep. I'm sold.

Plays exactly like every video I have seen.

Had a 16 race win streak this morning.

I wasn't sold at first but it got much more fun. It plays amazingly like Mario Kart. I can see this being great with friends for short spurts.

I did a couple races last night and had a good time. I don't know what the full game is going to offer single player or what is all in multiplayer. Right now, I want to own the game, but probably not at $60.
I'll probably get it from Gamefly and "keep it" if I really like it and the keep it price is decent.

Just copying the MW structure as a whole just makes it seem like even more of a bland experience than it already appeared to be. I also don't care for the Modern Warfare style of hiding modes, and pretty much everything else, behind rankings when the modes should be available right away. The challenges look to be worthless to even pay attention to them since you get no rewards for completing them.

Just got back on and my rankings were reset again. There's no point in playing this broken beta to unlock even the most basic of stuff if I have to start over every single time.

I liked it, no problems playing a dozen races last night, will try to get back to it again tonight, you go up the ranks pretty fast anyway so it doesn't matter if they get reset often, it's a beta after all... it even says on the loading screen that the game is still under development...

The beta code has been used already, I guess the person who used it didn't bother to say so. Thanks anyway for posting it!

I hadn't paid much attention to this game until the last couple of days, but now I'm really looking forward to it. I love combat racing games; I'm still waiting for an updated Rush 2049 battle mode, but this sounds like it'll do in the meantime. ;)

Isn't "Broken Beta" a bit redundant?

No, the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta in December worked perfectly online, unlike the retail version.

Holy shit. This game is awesome. I've played a few matches so far, and I just got done winning my first race. My favorite part about Blur so far is how exhilarating the game can be; it's quite intense.

Game is great. Has the whole PGR feel... with guns (lol). Certainly beats Full Auto.

Anyways I hope the Single Player is just as good. PGR had a rather lengthy Single Player campaign and it really out shined the multiplayer. Knowing Activision's intentions I'm sure my hope will be crushed.
How's the sense of speed?
I'd say it's pretty damn good, and it's even better when you use the boost power up.

fuck. This. Game. Ugh.

I've spent two hours playing and it is fun, but jesus h. christ, the bullshit that is dealt out isn't even in the same ballpark as Mario Kart's rubber band AI. I can't tell you how many times I lost races on the last leg because I was nailed by every fucking car racing. 1st to last so many damn times. On the flipside, if you are dead last, there seems to be little you can do to catch up at all.

The good:
- I like how they ripped off Modern Warfare's ranking system.
- Unlocking cars by levels is cool. Same for mods.
- Voting on tracks
- destruction derby

The bad:
- Having to unlock other play modes through the ranking system
- 99% of the cars in the beta don't control worth a shit
- 20 cars = clusterfuck
- minute long waits between races

The ugly:
See paragraph 1.
here is a beta code FDBKM-C22X7-F292R-8V6J9-3WGFM enjoy.
I used the code, thanks! :D

I think they really need to change how the beginning of races start. Just because I get first in the previous race does not mean I should be punished by starting in last place the next race. I think everyone should start out on the same line but you cannot hit each other(like racing a ghost) until we reach the first set of on track powerups. It should a level playing field from the beginning.

I agree that there seems little to do if your dead last to catch up, but a lot of the weapons are avoidable. You can just drive around the lightning, and the shunt can be avoided by turning slightly at the last moment.

Can't you use a shield or something to block at the last second? I seem to remember that...

A shield works as well as anything that you can shoot backwards will stop it.

I'm liking the Beta. I came in first in a few races while starting at the ass end of the pack. I think it will be a buy when it comes out day one honestly.

Beta isn't too bad so far, not thinking it's going to be a $60 game tho. Definitely having fun with it, but I can see it becoming repetitive fairly quickly.

Does anyone know how long this beta will last? It is a shame it came out the night before FFXIII came out because I still haven't found the time to play it yet.
