Borderlands 2 - Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep - 6/25 - 800 pts.

I basically played the first dlc overleveled in my playthrough 1 so I stopped doing side quests. By the time I finished playthrough 2 I was at level 50 so I do not feel like playing the dlc if I cannot level up. It really does show a lack of self-awareness on their own progression system. How can they really think people are not at level 50 yet with all the quests. Maybe in one playthrough you might not be 50 yet between the original game and Pirate dlc but dlc should be an add on not a progression. You should expect people to have characters with 2 playthroughs by now. This is what happens when dlc is planned as part of the original game and not true extensions. This dlc will add nothing to longtime players which is exactly how it should be thought out. This dlc is better suited for people just starting the game. Bad Gearbox bad.

I'm sure there are plenty of people like me who between work, school, other responsibilities, and other games have not maxed out their character. I can't play video games 8 hours a day. I haven't even beaten the first dlc. I'm far away from level 50 and don't plan on a play through 2 any time soon. I'm sure I'm in the minority on a message board, but I doubt it in the amount of Borderlands players.

Yeah, class and work stopped me from even beating the game for over a month. And even now, I am only level 38 and still need to start Captain Scarlett. I'm cool with the current level cap.

That is not the point. The point is the amount of content already released if played in the time it was released (chronologically) results in most people either being A) Overleveled or B) At level 50. They are saying this new DLC should be for those under level 50 which is just wrong for A LOT of players. DLC is supposed to enhance the game not restrict advanced players or dedicated player from progressing. This works great for you if you are just playing the story DLC mainly and are behind but those that have completed all the side quests and done some farming are forced to choose between experiencing new content with little progression or waiting for a 3rd DLC to level up. Each DLC should have had some bit of increase in level cap. Even if it is 5 levels at a time.

Anyway New Code

Also the game has been out 2 months. You don't need to play 8 hours a day to get to level 50 by now.

I would love to see a level cap increase, and a bank increase for that matter. It's not going to prevent me from having fun with the DLC though.

But if you are level 38 and on the 1st playthrough the Captain Scarlett DLC is not even worth playing. You are going to be so overleveled it is not even a challenge. That is why they created TVHM. You are better off starting TVHM and playing the Pirate DLC right off the bat.

I don't care about how difficult it is, really. I just want to see the content. Sure, leveling further would be nice, but I value content a bit more than some people, I suppose.

Well that is cool then. The writing is top notch so it is entertaining. I am mostly just bitching in general and not saying anyone here is wrong with how they like to play.

Thanks!

For historical reference, here's the timeline for BL1 cap increases. 4 months to get the first bump. I hope it's faster this time around.

10/20/09 -- BL1 release -- cap = 50
11/24/09 -- Zombie DLC -- cap = 50
12/29/09 -- Underdome DLC -- cap = 50
02/23/10 -- Knoxx DLC -- cap + 11 = 61
09/28/10 -- Robolution DLC -- cap = 50 / 61
11/02/10 -- patch v1.4.1 -- cap + 8 = 58 / 69

edit:
Just saw a thread over at the GBX forums that might be of some interest - Level Cap increase to be handled differently from Borderlands 1. Discussion stems from a quote by GBX vp of marketing to IGN during an interview for DLC 2:

Looking ahead, Gearbox says it’s already thinking about the next downloadable content. Eventually, the developer has plans to raise Borderlands 2’s level cap, but not in the way you might expect. “We’re discussing trying to do it in a more interesting way,” Gearbox vice president of marketing Steve Gibson told IGN. “We think people are going to be really happy when we do get to it. It’s a little bit different way of doing it. Yes, the number will go up, but there are some other things associated with it that we’re trying to do an even better job of.”

How are you supposed to do that, I thought you had to get to Oasis for the Captain Scarlet DLC. It's that time of year, when there are too many quality games to play than to level up in one game so yeah I see the reasoning.

Not everyone plays games for challenge. I had a lot of fun playing the pirate dlc with a level 35 or so character, don't give a crap about beating the extra bosses etc. I do have a TVHM playthrough going now worth some friends, but I'm not that motivated to get through it as I'm pretty burnt out on the game. Excited for more dlc, but playing through the game on the harder difficulty doesn't do much for me.

Meh. My opinion on BL2 is that it is no where near as difficult as BL. More difficult and challeging games are the reason I even play video games stilll. I was bummed out on how easy BL2 actually is.

To each their own. If all games were hard I'd have quit gaming long ago. I get enough challenge in my career, running etc. and turn to hobbies like gaming to just veg out and relax. Not challenge myself further and just get frustrated when I need to relax and de-stress.

I love BL2 to as it's not that hard and its easy to veg out and relax wandering around doing quests. Even TVHM isn't that bad once I got some good purple weapons from golden keys.

To me the only game that has done difficult well in recent memory was Dark Souls. You were happy with your victory and you didn't feel the difficulty was cheap.

You think due to the second wind nature Gearbox built around Borderlands 2? I went down a lot as a Berserker but normally would come back. Most of the time though I chose quests that were trivial but yeah co-op also amps up the difficulty in B2, badass enemies everywhere lol. Although I can see buddies rezing fallen allies then too.

IMO Borderlands 2 is much harder than Borderlands 1. In B1 if you do sidequests at all, by the time you're a few hours into the game you've outpaced the enemies by so much that you're basically never in danger of dying again. Borderlands 2 actually stays at least moderately challenging, especially in PT2.

I downloaded the dlc but its not popping up as a new town or undiscovered mission. Anyone wanna team up later? I have the majority of you guys on my friends list just invite me even if I'm not on borderlands.

Go to time travel station and you will see the new area. It is titled something like badass badlands. And god damn if I didn't get hit with badass rank reset when I started the game up last night to play the new dlc. fuck you borderlands and I never play bl2 online with others. Strictly a bl2 issue which they blame on the unreal 3 engine.

So I'm still playing Borderlands (the first game) and I have a general question about leveling up and completing missions. I seem to be vastly underpowered right now (I need to get the Mine Key in Sledge's hideout). I've completed all of the available missions that are level 14 and under (my current level) but if I try anything higher I get completely destroyed in like 10 seconds. I'm also running out of money for both ammo and to respawn. The only place I got a bunch of missions from is the bulletin board next to the claptrap in Fyrestone - is there another place I can load up on some (easy) missions in order to level up?

I'm enjoying the game but I'm getting tired of getting my ass handed to me... I also might just suck. Thanks.

it would also help to know what class you're playing...as not every class early in the game uses the same strategy.

not being sarcastic in anyway...but, have you spent your skill points in anything? sometimes ppl forget or try and save them for some reason. a lvl 14 vault hunter w/not skill points invested is pretty weaksauce.

i'd suggest just continuing to do side missions from the bulleten board until you've exhausted them. Also check for that guy behind scooter's catch a ride, he might have a mission or two for you if you haven't already done them. Another option is to check your ingame challenges and see if you can boost a few of them, i.e. running over enemies, hang time while driving, killing X number of Y monsters etc.

hope that helps.

Also you shouldn't be getting destroyed by enemies only a level or two above you. They'll take more work, but it's certainly doable. Hell, the best way to level up is take on enemies above your level. Bosses are the only area where I can see you having problems being a few levels lower.

If you still don't see it in your fast travel menu you may need to redownload the DLC. That happened to me last night. I finally decided to start Scarlet but Oasis wasn't in the Fast Travel. I jumped around areas trying different FT machines to no avail. I redownloaded the DLC and it worked fine after that.

Well I picked up the Season Pass and downloaded both Scarlett and Torgue, that took a while and the compatibility pack again? Then picked my TVHM Gunslinger and a friend and we went to town... and never played the DLC because I'm starting from the beginning again lol. Yeah we died multiple times, I was lvl 36 and he was lvl 31, but most of the time kept coming back with second wind. Dang Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, I have a love hate relationship with that orange shield lol.

Yeah, I had that same issue with the pirate DLC. Checked the HD in the storage section of the system menu and it showed the full 1.3 GB size, but it had an exclamation point next to it and said incomplete download (or corrupted file or whatever). Deleted it and re-downladed and it was fine.

I think this one downloaded fine based on the HD status, haven't got chance to play yet to see though. May fire it up later.

This was the case with Mr. Torque as I left the room and didn't watch it while it was downloading.

I couldnt figure out why I kept failing the 3rd tier race where you have to do 2 laps in 90 seconds. I kept getting 35-40 seconds for my first lap and then running out of time quite a distance before the finish line. After a few failures I noticed that after the first lap, the timer randomly takes out 2 seconds instead of 1 second.

I'm guessing its a glitch, pretty minimal in the scope of the game, but damn, its annoying. I guess since all you're doing is hitting checkpoints, the easiest method would probably to just play multiplayer and have people camp at each "checkpoint" so they can walk through it when it pops up.

Hey everyone, I just picked up the game and want to know if there are any pluses for buying the seasons pass from the get go instead of getting it after you complete the game ?

none

Yeah none unless you want to play the DLC and level up some more for the final boss I guess. But otherewise you can do the DLC after the end game anyway (along with any side missions you missed) so no harm in buying it after beating it once.

Anyone with the Torgue DLC want to help me with the
Piston's blimp
boss fight on TVHM? It's really frustrating how there's no way to get a Second Wind once you go DBNO, then you respawn all the way at the bottom of that tower.

Bastards - I paid for it with hard-earned Points cards ;)

But yeah, I haven't even downloaded the new one yet. Is it any good?
But yeah, I haven't even downloaded the new one yet. Is it any good?
I don't think it's quite as good as Captain Scarlett. The writing is good and the voice acting for Mr. Torgue is hilarious, but the environments are nothing special and the quests are a little rote.

Played a few hours of Pirate's Booty DLC on my TVHM playthrough, and it's not that difficult. I've done about 10 sidequests/Message in a bottle quests. I've only killed Sandman/Big Sleep in terms of the DLC's main story, but I am really enjoying it. The level design is pretty cool, and the new hover vehicle is probably the best vehicle in the game IMO.

Did anyone here get one of those PAX/2K vouchers for the BL2 season pass, if so how long after you entered your code on the site before you received the code for your console?

Just beat the Torgue dlc in normal mode. I loved it. Probably my favorite DLC from both games. More Moxxi/Tiny Tina was what I needed. Mr. Torgue is a badass dude too.
I need it to play it then. Tiny tina was awesome but you hardly interacted with her
I only played through the main story. She plays a part in the second half. Some entertaining stuff.

I know I've done all the side missions but the only mission I remember her doing besides the story was luring flesh stick to a tea party
