Borderlands - Gen. Discussion & Info - OUT NOW (8.0 GS, 8.8 IGN, 88 Metacritic)

I started a second playthrough a few months ago after I completed my first, but never really played it much after that. Can I just buy the DLC and play them from the beginning of my second playthrough?
what is good level on a first playthrough to go to the new area?
While the levels of the enemies do scale, I believe the General Knoxx DLC is meant to take place after the end of the main play through.
Can I just buy the DLC and play them from the beginning of my second playthrough?
You should be able to access the DLC at any point in the game once you have it installed. I seem to remember that you had to be at least lvl. 10 to go to zombie island, but after that you should be good to go.

I don't have the new DLC yet, but more I see and hear of it the more I want it. Backlog be damned.
Corrosive weapons are your friend against the Lance, at least once I started using a corrosive sniper in Old Haven it became a lot easier.
Yea, I figured that out when I finally got to level 56 and was able to use this corrosive revolver. Takes 'em down fast. Those pyro's are a bitch though since my siren has phoenix maxed out and are not effective by it. But that gun solves that problem. Already killed Knoxx and he was more of an annoyance with him spawning his devestators and medics. Wish they'd give us more time to loot, because alot of the stuff I grabbed I wasn't even looking at. Just snatching in a mad frenzy.

Beat Crawmerax last night solo. Made a decent haul. No pearls though. Anybody looking to team up and get better weapons with Crawmerax or do the armory glitch? A Hunter with +2 or 3 rare item find and a berserker with 30% team damage would be sweet.

Hey def, ever hear of a little thing called SPOILER TAGS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!??????!?!?!?!?!? I don't have this yet, and your posts are very borderline spoiler.
At this point I'm about to sell off my copy and wait for the inevitable re-release with all the DLC
I might do this too. I still have a sealed copy lying around.
Has each DLC pack been $10 so far? This is getting pretty expensive.
Yeah, but from what I hear, at least two of those are worth it. I actually haven't played any yet, since I just started up again.

I'm sorry I wouldn't consider that a spoiler. This is a spoiler.

Moxxi is Scooter's Mom.:whistle2:#

Damn you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I clicked it anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!@!????? You just knew I would be tempted to click it didn't you?

Yup.

Why would you do that????? LOL!! It's cool, I actually wasn't planning on getting the underdome DLC, so it's good to know some of this stuff. I seriously thought you were going to say something completely unrelated like confessing your love for bananas. Awesome!!!!!

I still haven't started this game... I hope to soon. Need to get a friend with the game so we can go through together. I also hope the DLC gets a disc release like the 360 version has.

Oh yeah, this is a PS3 thread. I have the 360 version, so I was like, "WTF??? There IS a disc version!!!" but then I remembered!!!!

Just kinda irritated by all the question marks and exclamation points. And I knew I could bait you. :applause:

Well, just for that,
When does this game start to be fun? I've played up to level 5 so far and it's just not doing anything for me.
I would say when you loot great guns (or great at that time), understanding your character when leveling up and making he/she more of a badass. And playing with people online. I usually play splitsceen or online with one other person, but it really gets interesting when you join with three other people and raise havoc togeather. The baddies become stronger, the loot becomes more valuable, etc. Its always alot of fun, having a team that is every character and not some repeats. Because class mods sometimes tend to help not only yourself, but the team.
For example, the soldier class there's a mod that gives ammo regen to the team, Brick has 30% increased damage, Mordecai has accuracy, team rare find item and that helps me so I could use my mod that gives team cooldown reduction and plus two rare find as well, so I don't have to use my mod that gives me smg ammo regen.
I think I was level 20 when I got the hang of it and knew what I was doing. I was around your level just starting out and wasn't sure if I liked it. But like any RPG, it only gets good when you're a higher level. What character are you?
What character are you?
I'm currently the lady class (I don't remember the title). I've played the Hunter before.

I had thought that co-op might make it a little more fun. If anyone is game, send me an invite and we'll give it a go.

Okay, you're the Siren. Same class as I and probably my favorite out of the 4. My tips for getting Lilith more powerful,
would be having her lower tier skills, Diva, Quickslayer and Slayer maxed (but increasing each skill every other slot, so it can be spread out as you go on). Inner Glow, Hit and Run and Enforcer are some important skills on the 2nd tier. Inner Glow haves you gain Health when you phase walk. Enforcer increases fire rate when you kill somebody and Hit and Run increases melee and phasewalk duration (I use it more for phasewalk duration then melee). Hard to Get, Diva, Inuition and High Velocity are something to look at and for the final tier Mind Games and Phoenix are your best friends. I know this is alot of info to take in, but checking out one of these builds will help some. http://borderlandsthegame.com/skilltree/lilith/#21522000050500515055500 I've changed Lilith so many times and SMG/Elemental weapons really make her unstoppable. I wish I knew that at the beginning, because I rarely used them, but now my profiencey is at 50 with just playing the newest dlc and its still fun as hell.

I hope this helps!

The very beginning is pretty mundane and boring to play solo, but once you accumulate more missions and move out of the Arid Badlands, I'd say that's when it really starts to pick up.

I just added you Flux. I was thinking about starting over with a Soldier class. I have one thats a level 20, but has been raped of anything decent lol.

Cool. Hopefully co-op will improve the experience for me.

I added Saint Noir last night, maybe we can get a full crew for this.

Alright, I guess I will start a hunter character. Since we have a lady and maybe a soldier. Just did the install and what not. We'll have to set up a time to play...which will be easier said then done now that my wife has FF XIII!

Hahaha, I know what you mean. I've been playing borderlands almost nonestop since the dlc and off and on from then. I'll be getting FFXIII today as well. But I'm sure we can work something in for the weekend.

I played just a tiny bit, but I really enjoyed it thus far. The art style alone makes me enjoy it quite a bit. Really looking forward to jumping online with some people.

I was kinda disappointed with the Knoxx DLC. They just put you in a room with a shit-load of loot, and you're supposed to go through it all in 3 minutes?????? I only probably got to about half of it! But there's apparently a chance to get the other stuff, so all hope is not lost. Also, I keep seeing ads in the game that tell you to "Stash your crap!!" Is there soem kind of banking system? If so, how do you access it? Thanks!

There is a glitch to get into the room with no time limit, but after several runs myself, I think I've gotten the best I could out of that place, with full party with all having some sort of team rare item find mod. I would say to find the best weapons, mods and shields would to farm crawmerax. I've always found better stuff there and its def. more of a challenge. Marcus gives you two more missions involving The Armory, you just have to complete the missions that involve the power cores and killing various enemies. Youtube the armory glitch, but make sure you pay attention, because there's a spot in that area that you can't go into or it'll glitch the mission and you won't be able to complete it.:bomb:

That's basically where I'm at. I finally scored a copy off goozex, but I'm leaning back to Demon's Souls because Borderlands isn't grabbing me yet ... 'lots of fetch this ...' stuff missions. I do like the art style/music.

I'm going to try and get my brother to come down on a weekend and play some splitscreen co-op to see if it improves. I don't have a mic or bluetooth, so I'm not sure online would work very well.

Yeah, I'm doing Marcus's extra missions now. Where can I find more Jetpacks to kill? I've looked everywhere, and I only need six! Anybody know where I can find some?

I would either try those outposts on the long stretch of highway that the Lance occupy. There's usually 3-5 Rocketqueer's in there. Or I would try Circle of Duty. I forget which round it is when they start throwing out Rocketeer's in the very beginning. That mission is very tough though.

But speaking of those jetpack assholes. When I was starting out on that dlc. Those guys and those frickin' probes were the two that gave me the most hassle.

I know what you mean. I just finished the mission and found out that there's another time limit. I may try the glitch this time. Also tried to get crawmerax BY MYSELF lat night. BTW, I'm lvl 42. Worst. Idea. Ever. I lasted all of two seconds. ANybody who has a 360 copy want to help me?

Really gotta level up my Siren to get some good co-op going. Haven't had time because of finals week. Boo-urns! :cold:

I think I am at level 17 or so now. I jumped on with a few random people, it is annoying though... I hate that their open missions just jump into my log book, even when I have no idea what is going on with them. If they get a mission, I don't see it (which I think everyone should see it in a CO-OP game). Plus random people just run around as fast as they can with no regard for anyone else.

Or you get in a game with some who just wants to fight you. Definitely better suited to be played with people you know... or at least who you know want to play right.

My problem when I played with randoms, was that they would take ALL of the good loot. I was left with their leftovers, and it really ruined the experience for me. Hey, maybe we should make a crawmerax run thread.

I'm a level 20 Soldier and I lean heavily towards a shotgun / assault rifle configuration. I bought the game because a friend wanted to play it with me, and he hasn't picked it up yet. I'm free to do runs Thursday nights, and Saturday / Sunday mornings.

I thought I'd try here since this is the Borderlands thread, I was wondering if any of you were interested in the 3 Borderlands DLC that they have out. Over in the PSN Gamesharing thread, we're trying to form a group to split the costs of all 3. In the end, it'd be $6 for each person. We already have 2 people, we just need 3 more. Thanks for looking. Whenever the 4th comes out, we can split that also if the group wants.

3 more spots available. It's for the 3 Borderlands DLC. $6 a person and you get all 3:

The Secret Armory of General Knoxx
Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot
Zombie Island of Dr. Ned

Just finished the original game a few minutes ago.
I really enjoyed it but the story needs to flow better. I couldn't remember the last time the blue woman contacted me then all of the sudden she is calling every five minutes and I am at the vault. Then the monster thing shows up and I am like wtf. It does nothing since I am a RE fan and know to shoot the colored body parts. Once it dies I'm expecting to see this vault and get a good gun or something but no the game just ends. The ending video was fine but I want to see the vault.
I need to play some coop and maybe try out another class. I played as a hunter my first time.
do you have to complete the DLC trophies to get a platinum in this game?
You never need DLC trophies for a plat.

the ending was disappointing, I wanted to see the vault, all that time, running around and you really only get to see the entrance.
I enjoyed the game overall, I have only a few simple trophies to pick up and that should give me the platinum!!!!! Right now I'm on Level 42. Hopefully, I can finish up this weekend. I have no interests in any of the other classes a this point. I just wish I could have a base where i could keep my guns. Like a gun gallery... you know I have one gun that I got early on, but I used it for the entire game, plus I'm still using it on the second playthrough. I forgot the name, but its an SMG w/ x4 acid.. definitely my favorite.
