Borderlands - Gen. Discussion & Info - OUT NOW (8.0 GS, 8.8 IGN, 88 Metacritic)
I've encountered sound trouble playing with Mad39er. It cuts in an out, I miss half of what he says, and its an all-around crappy experience. Although it's slightly better when I host...

We've learned to communicate through a series of gunshots and jumps. I haven't heard of any fixes (although I haven't really looked).
Online mic support for this game is terrible. Other than that, it is one of the best games I played this year. Beat it twice with different characters and eventually I would like to get to lvl 50 for a platinum. Then go through the DLC.

Hey guys I'm getting back into Borderlands just Dl'ed the 4 expansions. I'm a level 39 soldier, hiot me up on psn for coop. jgiovanni is the user id
Anyone want to co-op with me? I beat the main game and am currently working through the DLC. I'm a level 45 siren.
I just picked up the GOTY too and have a soldier at the same level. If you see me online feel free to toss me an invite. :)

I started playing right away without DL'ing the DLC just to get re-acclimated with the game. I forgot how much tougher/annoying the enemies are on the second playthrough. Should I be playing on playthrough 1 instead? I still need to hit level 50.

All 4 charactors of mine are 69 and I have all 4 dlcs and every trophy also I have most of the rare guns in the game and a few modded shields and guns that people have dropped. I've easily logged over 200 hours in the game since it's release. So if anyone needs help hit me up and I'll be more than happy to help. My psn is razrvamp

I could use someone to kill Crawmerax for me. Mostly because I want the completionist trophy and I'm afraid to play online because it can glitch.

anyone have any tips on grinding to 50 (for the plat.)?
Currently I'm working on General Knox (playthrough 1). Would I get more experience starting playthrough 2? Just trying to get to 50 as fast as I can.

Yes, playthrough 2 will get you more experience. By the time I finished the game and all the DLC (minus the Underdome) on playthrough 1, I was around the mid-40s. I started playthough 2 and was up to 50 after about an hour or two of story missions.

My co-op partner and I got to the Rakk Hive the otherday and killed it almost immediately. I almost think that there was some sort of glitch or something, because he didn't hurt us, and he was dead before the first wave of Rakk flew into us.

Anyone have a different experience?

Nope, its just another easy boss you can down in 5 seconds.

Play General Knox (PT2), or farm Crawmerax. I never touched the main game PT2, and maxed out quickly just farming Crawmerax.

Finished the game on Wednesday and I'm halfway through the Zombie missions.

I started playthrough 2 just for kicks and immediately found a shield with 300+ capacity than what I had in a skag pile- between that and my 4xFire/99dmg SMG I picked up in the zombie missions I'm feeling unstoppable.

1 shot kills (after a few seconds) on most enemies. 2 shots if they have a shield. I love this game.

so i got the goty at gamestop used cuz in the instruction manual it said you can install the dlcs right from the disc under "bonus content" (like how extraction was with dead space 2). well, im not getting a second disc option underneath the borderlands option. what gives? anyone have a voucher from theirs they never used?

It's a voucher code. No DLC on the disc. Lotsa peeps were sadpanda aboot it.

no, its on the disc on the newer versions. says so right in the instruction manual.

i have a feeling, there were multiple goty discs, and since they dont keep them in with the exact box it came in, i got one of the earlier ones without it on the disc. so they fucked up.

I bought the PS3 version and I have a question. When you play split screen can you sign in 2 different accounts cause my brother would want to earn trophies also like in LBP

I don't think you can sign in with 2 accounts- but you can use your character from the other account. I seem to recall someone saying he played this way with his wife, and afterward, she signed into her account with her character and all the trophies popped up. That could be a lie though.

It'd be pretty easy to test.

You can sign in with 2 characters, but only the main account that starts the game will get the trophies iirc.

There's a picture of the PS3 disk in the Power Saver thread that shows what the disk should look like for the GOTY edition with the add-on content included on disk:

yeah i went back the next day and they had another copy, with that on it. at first the guy thought i was supposed to get both discs cuz he thought that one just had the dlc on. i thought about screwing them over for a second, but i fear for my karma. hahaha.

i play through the zombie one and that was kinda meh. going through the claptrap one now.

Anyone playing this on xbl? I just got the GOTY from the amazon sale. If so please add me. I have a level 25 solider from a previous save but am considering starting a new character as well

You realize you are posting this in the PS3 forum, right?

I keep hearing mixed about this. I'll guess I'll have wait and see since I ordered it already

I just picked this up in the Gamestop sale. I've never played it before, and I figure there must be other people in the same boat as me. So if anyone wants to play online feel free to add me.

Just be warned- the game is really slow for the first hour or so. It doesn't really start to get good until you get your hands on some equipment that really feels good to you.

If you want a quick level boost or something, friend me. I can get a new character to about 10-11 in a few minutes.

Same here, I'll boost ya if you need it. I'm Level 50. You take the loot, I'll follow :) Any experience point I get, go to you as well, including money.

Can only play the main game and Zombie Island, not other DLC atm.

Still don't have a new mic, mine's still makin rage popcorn.
Started a Hunter to play with some friends. I have a level 49 Siren if anyone wants to make their way through DLC?
I have a 56 Soldier, and a friend has a 46 Hunter. We just started the Claptrap DLC if you want to join us. I'll have to find a night he can commit to playing, but other than that, we'd welcome a 3rd.

He is still trying to reach lvl50. We finished the first 2 DLCs and playthrough 1. He's been meddling around in playthrough 2, but nothing serious.

Actually- if anyone is interested in setting up a game night for playthrough 2, I'd be interested in going through the game with 4 people. I only ever played with myself and a partner. Every night but Monday works for me- and monday works, just needs to be after 9pm cst.

never played with 4 people before tonight. That was chaotic. It's funny how the dynamic changed (probably because of the level difference), but for the first time i felt like I actually needed to use my skill set to make the team work.

Does anybody have any tips to share?

I'll start. The Eridian weapons that shoot energy synergize very well with Soldier's "increased magazine size" skill and a "heavy gunner" class mod (in particular, that mod's "increased magazine size" and "increased weapon fire rate" abilities). The "increased magazine size" ability means you make more shots before you run out of juice and and no matter how big your "clip" is, it still takes the same amount of time to recharge.

That's pretty interesting. I haven't found a lot of those weapons.. I think between myself and my coop buddy we have only found about 5 of them, and they've all been kind of crummy.

Does anyone know anything about respecing your character's skill points? I read somewhere that after a certain point in the game, if you respec you could lose a few of your points.

So, Borderlands for $15 on PSN...Question for everyone: Are Mad Moxie's Underdome and Claptrap worth the $15? I have the game, Zombies (loved) and General Knox (OK). Level 50+ Brick...

Just curious what others experience has been with those 2 expansions.

Viva la revolution! I think claptrap revolution is hilarious. Underdome - nah, unless wave after wave of baddies is your idea of fun. They say the large (20 wave) challenge takes about 6-8 hours per dome and there are 3 domes. The 5 wave challenges are enough for me.

Where did you dig this up? I searched yesterday and couldn't find it. I'm usually playing Monday nights...at least until I hit lv 50.

Feel the same about the DLC. Claptrap is cute, but redundant (same fights?), and Underdome is tiresome as the above reply noted. After dying and realizing I was back to square 1 after 2 straight hours of fighting, I was like screw this.

For both, I say no. Underdome is only worth it for the bank, but the actual arena fights are boring unless playing with friends. Good to get loot though if you can keep surviving (even then Knoxx is still better because of the armory). Claptrap is short, but at least you are entertained with some comedic relief.

Oh, and let me top of off by saying NO because they are $4.99 each. Now, if you can get two people to game share.....

I'm leaking......I'm leaking......

When are they going to come out with Borderlands 2? I can't wait to see the new improved game - if they can fix the slow parts of the original it will KICK ASS

Just started Borderlands after getting it for $20 plus the DLC on PSN. It reminds me a lot of Fallout 3, the barren and desolate venues, and the really morbid humor.(I'm leaking, there's oil OVERYWHERE lol) Hooked so far.

I forget the names....choose the one that can throw out the turret. He's by far the easiest to get going since that turret will help mow down creatures. Brick is (generally) the hardest for someone to start with who has not played before.

I've read Borderlands 2 is in development, but I cannot remember where. I was on the fence on this until picking it up for $20 earlier and getting above lv 20. It seems tedious at first (and is) but the humor is good. Wait until you get some of the other sidebar comments later on.

Oh, and 41-->50 is a grind.....

The siren is also pretty easy to use since you can flank with her stealth and later on use it for healing.

^How are you farming crawmerax on 40-50? I tried to fight him with my lvl50+ and a friends lvl47, and we got handled in the first 10 seconds. Literally.

What playthrough was this I haven't fought him so i have no idea his level/difficulty, but I think you might just grind him on playthough 1 instead of 2/2.5

There's an invisible wall area on the side of the cliff where you can shoot from and he can't see you or get to you. It'll take a little while to kill him if you have shitty weapons, but it's easily done if you can actually make it to the cliff area without getting killed by his worms. It works for grinding on all playthroughs.

I either can't find the wall or I'm just really terrible, but I've tried this half a dozen times and have died literally within 10 seconds, like someone mentioned above. the worms will kill you right quick...If...that's a pretty big IF there.
