All credit for this find goes to kill3r7, who originally posted this deal in the HD-DVD Discussion thread.

Borders has almost all of their HD-DVDs on sale for $9.99. While a lot of these aren't that exciting for that price, if you keep on searching you will find some amazing deals.

http://www.borders.com/online/store/...mpid=e4-112708

For instance, I got all of these for $9.99 a piece:
Heroes: Season 1
Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Season One
Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise
The Best of HD DVD, Vol. 1
Planet Earth: The Complete Collection

I wanted to share this with the CAG community. I thought about just letting my order process to avoid possible cancellation, but this deal is just too good not to share with you guys. Hopefully it's not a price mistake, but we shall see.
Those of you concerned about seeing a refund - are the charges just Authorizations? If they are they should just drop by themselves in a couple days and won't clear.
Indeed.

I ordered Heroes, Royal Space Force, BSG, and Planet Earth on Sunday. I received Royal Space Force and Heroes today with the other two 'In Process' on my online account and 'backordered' on my e-mailed statement.

Hopefully they'll go through, else I'll browse ebay and see if anyone is reselling them for a bit more...

Seriously, this fucking pisses me off.

How hard is it for a company to have software on their website to indicate that they are sold out of a product when the allotted number of items is sold!? Did they not expect a rush when they marked HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER HD-DVDS AT NINETY PERCENT OFF!?

My god, this whole fiasco is ridiculous. Anyone call and complain? I'm tempted to.

Its a tier 2 web site of a marginal retail store. You're probably wasting your time. But maybe you can get something out of them.

Well I just checked my debit card and I have my money back but I did not receive an email regarding the order being canceled.

They charged me for everything but only shipped 3 of the 5 (they cancelled the other 5). The 2 that are in process are BSG and Planet Earth, so maybe I will get a refund. Whatever they are going to do they better do it soon.

EDIT: I take that back, they've shipped 3 of the 5 but those don't even show as a pending charge on my CC--that's weird. Mabye they will charge the full amount when they ship them all but that is risky on their part to not even have a hold. . .

This is starting to get a little ridiculous. All of my items still show "in process" but the pictures are all of Battlestar Galactia. They have not charged my CC yet either. I wish they would either ship them or cancel it.

Ripped straight from Slickdeals, but Amazon has the HD-DVD BBC version of Planet Earth for $20 right now. Those that missed out on Borders might want to consider this one.

I think I'm in, I really want to see Planet Earth, and $20 isn't a bad deal to see it in HD.

It's awesome in HD. I really enjoyed the DEEP SEA episode.. very interesting stuff!

Damn, I see $30 right now. I'm waiting.
man you are really a cheap ass.... $10 bucks for a hd-dvd box set for a dead format is a STEAL compared to other sites I have been to.
hehe yeah 10 bucks...if its any cheaper it may as well be for free
Still processing, I think this is going to be on of those orders that rots for a few weeks before being cancelled
Same here, low hopes. :whistle2:#

Well, the only one I wanted was Royal Space Force. I have an extra BSG season 1 if anyone wants to trade.

Anyone know what the return policy is at Borders? Do the packages need to be shipped back or do they allow in-store returns for online purchases?

i might get this, thanks OP

I called today... talked to a nice girl... she told me that if it's showing "in process" as mine is then it's on back order... and they do NOT expect to get any more stock in... she wanted to go ahead and cancel my order but I told her not to and to let the system cancel it when it catches up with the situation... she said it would keep authorizing my credit amount periodically until cancellation time and I told her that was ok...

I just looked closer at my order status and both Battlestar Galatica and Planet Earth say the same sku and I guess director. Nuts should have bought Planet Earth from amazon

I received Royal Space Force, Freedom, and Planet Earth yesterday. Still waiting for Heroes and Battlestar, but they should be here either today or Monday.

Taboner: Yeah, I think this deal is pretty much dead.

Everything i ordered is on backorder and all my items have changed the sku & picture to Planet Earth.

I dont think it's gonna go through. Ah well, better luck next time...

It seems like some HD DVDs are back for $10. I ordered 3 and one of them is backordered already (Zodiac).
Meh, little to no interest in these titles at these prices. Or any prices probably. Good to build up a library in HD if you've got some money around I guess. But I want me some Planet Earth.

Thanks for the update though.

edit: actually, check out amazon for some cheap hd. Lots of stuff at $8.

My order (Planet Earth, BSG, Wings of Honneamise x2) has been in "processing" since 11/30. Most people on HighDefDigest have had theirs canceled already. Bah.

fuck Borders!!!

What's got me completely pissed is that on Dec. 1st one of my items, "Zodiac", was canceled along with "Royal Space Force" and "Best of WB HD DVD" boxset. Now suddenly "Zodiac" is AVAILABLE AGAIN!?:bomb: How the hell do they sudden have it in stock again!?

Think it is about time I just call to cancel, BattleStar Galatica doesn't go for much more then a few more bucks on ebay and there have easily been a dozen deals on Planet Earth, another one will pop up or used prices will drop on it.
my planet earth has been on "in process" forever.. whats the deal
Same here. I really have to get around to canceling it. The authorization is still on my card, and while that is not a real big deal, I don't want them to somehow find some copies and ship one out, especially if I end up getting one myself.

As explained earlier that really just means backordered and they probably won't be getting more in. Why they have such a screwy system i'm not entirely sure. If it is backordered it should have just stayed that way instead of going to processing.
Is this sale still going on?
If you look at the 1st post and click the link, you will see 31 movies left in stock....no good deals really.

Anyone who is holding out hope for Planet Earth, don't. I e-mailed them the other day about the fact that my order still "processing," and they finally got back to me and canceled the order, saying it was a mistake.

Sigh, my orders are still in limbo land. It's just a matter of (a long) time as my last book order that was held up actually took months before it finally got canceled.

My Planet Earth must still be in processing, and just last week they actually to verify my credit card again. I saw the charge "pending" appear on my online statement, only to disappear a day later. Are they just going to do that once a month until they get it in? How ridiculous is that?!?!
I'm going to have to call them and cancel it. My hard drive drive crashed and I lost the email with my original order number, and I didn't sign up for an account. I can't even check the status right now.
