Burnout Paradise - General Discussion & Info / TROPHY HUNTERS WELCOME!
It's easier to just move on and find an event nearby to complete than obsess on just one event.
Not when the event you screwed up was a "Burning Ride"(I think that's what they're called...whatever unlocks the special versions of the cars.).

There were a few of those that i would just reload my save file after missing the ending by a few seconds. man, some of those were really pretty hard.

Burning Routes to me, as long as you follow one simple rule are easy. That simple rule is..."Don't Crash. Ever."

As long as you follow that rule you should make it every time.

OHHHH... DON'T crash... and here I thought I was supposed to crash...;)

Could've been worse. Anyone remember the F1 Burning Route from Burnout 3? Wow. All boost ALL THE TIME in the fastest (?) car in the game.

Mind-boggling

Anyways...I found my final 3 Smash Gates today thanks to the site Criterion put up. I kinda wish they implemented it into the game though. But it's still a feature I plan on using a lot of in the near future.

What site are you talking about? Can't wait for the new patch!
Just got this game For $12.xx at Gamestop. $17.99 +20% off + 10%(Edge Card).
Same here...it took a long time to download the updates, but free updates are good.

Yea, the updates took forever. We set the thing to start downloading and went and watched part of The Notebook and Cities of the Underworld or whatever it is on History HD.

YES! I finally did my final Smash Gates, Super Jumps and Billboards! Now only 94 more events to go until I get Burnout Elite Status!

That's probably not going to happen anytime soon, though.

Thanks for giving me the site. I finished all my discoverables too. Only three events left until burnout elite but then I have to finish up the challenges and do showtime and road rules...not looking forward to that.

Welp, I finished off all of my Road Rules. I have 35 Showtimes short of only having the 94 events to do for my Elite License. I'm nearing 55 hours in the game (15 hours in Bikes, 39 in Cars).

Interesting note. If you go back and look at last week's Crash TV Podcast, you will notice something called the "Time Savers Pack". It seems like typical EA stuff, but it's been a year, so I say the timing is right.

Price drop for the game on PlayStation store to $19.99

Title should be changed, make sure to check my sig if you need trophy help. This game is a MUST get for the amount of trophies they give!

anyone want to game share this on psn? i have a friend and me that want in but we pay tax and have no cc. 4$ each if we can get a main and 2 others.

I'm only 70 events away from getting the coveted Burnout Elite License. I also have 2 cars still lurking about the city that I can't find (1 new one just popped up though). The races are pretty easy on this level, even with the insane AI if you have use the Carson Inferno Van, or its' Burning Route car.

This is because it's very hard for your car to wreck and they sort of rubber band back to you if you're behind them (once you're in front though, unless you crash, they aren't catching you). I'm definitely going to tackle the Burning Routes last, though.

If someone doesn't update the OP soon, I might just have to start a new thread myself. Why? Because I love this game that much.

EDIT: 63 events now

I think saving Burning Routes for last is a bad idea. Since there's no restart yet, losing the event means you have to drive all the way back to the start with nothing to do, because you've already done all the other events.

I have 63 events to go. There's no way I get down to 14-15 Burning Routes to go by Thursday when the update hits. I'll probably be at 40 events to go by then.

Also, I'm getting the impression that only the Party Pack hits Thursday, which sort of ruins my plans for next Sunday's Burnout Afternoon.

They still have not announced the release for legendary cars. It could be thursday but I highly doubt it.

Well, if you look at the game's calendar, it circles the 5th and 6th. I haven't paid attention to it today, though. It might have other dates circled. I just wish they'd keep us out of the dark on this stuff, though.

I'm guessing that not only do we get the Party Pack, but the Time Savers' Pack (Unlock everything for a price) as well. I hope they release the Legendary cars as well, though. As for everything else, they're being very, very silent about it. We haven't even seen proper screens of the Toy Cars.

Okay, I've been doing my research and whatnot, but I still have some unanswered questions between the Disc version and PSN version of that game. And now that both retails for $20's, this will be my first racer on the PS3

The biggest question that I have is that I heard that the PSN version comes with all the DLCs that is available for the game, BOTH the free and the paid ones. Am I right to assume that the disc version doesn't come with the paid DLC, and that I would need to pick that up those up is I went with the disc version?

I heard that the PSN version also loads noticably faster than the disc version (which is a big plus). Aside from that, anything other important differences?

PS: I know I could score the disc version for cheaper than $20 if I buy it used somewhere, and there has something to be said on owning a physical disc and the nice packaging it comes with, but for the sake of argument, I will omit those facts.

Not sure of the differences but DEF get it one way or another.. I just got it last night and its great, Id advise getting a group going like I did, only cost me $5 after fees etc and it works flawless!

hmm well this might have nothing to do with it, but thanks to CAG my ps3 library is filling up and now I have less than 2GB in my harddrive now, so I'm sorta regretting having download games (4 as of now)

So I would go for the disc... but thats just me...

How bigs your hd? I didnt really think of this but I got the 80 gig so I guess it can hold more.. plus I figure paying $4-5 dollars for the game then play the hell out of it can delete it later if needed for more space for a new game is slightly better than buying it for $20 and having to sell it for $5-10 after I am through with it... but thats just me..

Burnout Paradise doesn't limit it to one system like Socom and Warhawk? Hmmm, I might have to consider getting it on the PSN than, was considering getting it either way.

As far as I know, there is no paid DLC as of yet for burnout. The party mode is coming later this month. So I doubt the PSN game includes it or will include it, could be wrong though.

Hmm, well that dispels that rumor that I heard.

I guess another question that I have is "can I get ALL of the content available for the PSN version for the disc version too?" I read somewhere that the PSN version has access to the stuff from the "game of the year" edition (or something like that). I know this may be an obvious yes, but I'm just making sure.

I rather ask a ton of stoopid questions, than just buy the game and feel and be stoopid afterwards.

Both are the same, no paid DLC yet. But assuming HD space isn't an issue (if it is you'll probably need to upgrade eventually anyway) get the downloadable one, I love not needing to put in a disc and have probably played it much more because it's on the menu then I might have otherwise (it's a great game so I would have played it a lot no matter what). If you find people to share with that is ideal - if you're into that, but I find having it on the system is more valuable than having the physical object (which I didn't expect).

^ He speaks the truth. I've owned both (still own the PSN version) and there is no noticeable difference DLC or load time wise. The game only has an initial load anyway (no loading ingame) so that's kind of a dead point anyway.

One thing to note, in case you didn't know, the games are not compatible. You cannot play one, and then decide that you'd like to get the other and continue your progress. The save files from one version (Psn vs. disc) are incompatible.

Same here I sold the game to my friend and bought the download version. There are no real improvements on load times but just having it on the menu lets me stay lazy and not have to get up off the couch.

Except for the media they come on, the versions are identical.

The PSN version is sharable so if you are in a group you can split the cost legally. I can't speak for the loading times, but having it on my harddrive has been a big plus for me. Much easier to just boot up and go.

Since I got it through a game share which made it essentially $6, it has been the best purchase value for me on my PS3 and one of my top 2 games overall.

Since you posted a few hours ago, know that you could already be playing it if you bought the PSN version. :)

For what it's worth, you can't type in the sponser codes to unlock those cars in the PSN version. (The Best Buy, Gamestop, ect cars). Believe me when I say that it doesn't detract from the game in the slightest. I'd prefer to have the PSN version, but I got my Burnout license already after the trophy update with the disc version so I'm sticking with it.

i bought the download version because I knew I wouldn't play it as much if I had to put the disc in every time. I've played it a lot more because it's just sitting there staring at me all the time.

This is definitely the boat I'm in. I rented it, played it maybe twice, then sent it back. I heard about it coming to PSN, and I was like I'm interested in it. Thought about it, bought, and now I've played for more than 60 hours.

And I just got Millionaire's Club using the Carson Inferno Van. :D

Only 58 more events to go until the Elite License. But...I'm probably going to hold out until the Restart option comes in.

I need to start my game over, and get back into the game... I didn't want to restart because I had just gotten my favorite car.

Stupidest question you guys will probably hear, but whats the best way to play the game? I'm kinda lost and confused in it just like throwing me into the world. Should I just go to random stop lights and do challenges?

Thanks guys :)

Yes, do that.

BTW, if you want to see a show, hop online now and I'll invite ya. Kinda boring, though.

EDIT: Nevermind, the drift ended just shy of 19,000.

Yep, do a few events or just drive around and explore for a bit. Look for super jumps, billboards to smash, parking garages to drive off, etc.

After a few events you'll start unlocking cars. Once you unlock a car you can hop in that car from a junkyard. There are also events called Burning routes for most of the cars, completing them unlocks a different version of the car with different focuses in attributes (usually more boost power). The handy thing about the early burning routes is they'll often point you in the direction of good streets/shortcuts to take when the race events start getting tougher.

I'm not quite sure why everyone poo-poos this game for not having a restart race feature. There are just so many events to do, but I guess this isn't really a problem early game when you only need 15-19 wins to upgrade your license, so you can just do any challenges you find. I guess to get the highest grade you will have to complete every single challenge?

To get a Burnout Elite license you have to do all. I was there once upon a time before a dead PS3 and honestly by that point driving back 30-60 seconds to restart those last few events isn't too bad, especially seeing as by that point you should be so good that most events don't need to be done more than once anyway. So yeah the restart isn't a biggie for me seeing as driving about the map usually helps find new routes, billboards, jumps etc.

i just got this game and did a lengthy download process. so nw that thats done does it automatically dl all the dlc availabe for the game? i dont see any for it on psn but ive read about it in diff places. im too lazy to look through this whole thread s could someone give me he simple versin of whats there. also is there any way to tweak the camera?

PSN updates are Thursdays, so the Party Pack should be up tomorrow, and I guess the Time Savers Pack as well.

The patch should go up in the morning, however.
