Burnout Paradise - General Discussion & Info / TROPHY HUNTERS WELCOME!

To try to beat times for a street, you need to find one end and race to the other end to beat the time. Showtime just requires you to start a showtime on that road and either beat the high score or don't.
 
So if I see the red street signs I try to start racing somewhere? Or hold L1 then R1? And try to make a crash? Sorry...I didn't catch any of this in the first few hours of the game.

If you pick Showtime, just hit L1 and R1 anytime to start crashing. If you picked Time (or whatever it's called) you just have to start at one end of the street, and head for the other end of the street as fast as you can. I believe the street sign is red if you haven't broken either the Time or Showtime record on a street, it will be silver if you broke one of the records, and gold if you beat both of them.

Going through the comments, I wish they would quit being so coy about trophies and just announce something. They originally said they would release a trophy patch before the next update, but now it sounds like they are concentrating on the update instead. I guess I'm just a trophy whore, but I'd rather have the trophy patch than an update adding 2 bikes and a day and night cycle. At least the update is free though.

Since this game just hit 30 bucks I might pick it up used at Gamestop in the next month. How is the community? Still strong? Is there a lot of stuff to do in this game?

The only reason I keep on missing these BP nights (I don't like missing BP night) is because of the thread title. It's always says TBA... so I just don't know when you guys play. :cry:

I've PMed Thomaticus to see if we can change the title to say something like 'every thursday'. I guess we won't make tonight official as the title hasn't changed and a few are absent. We'll start proper next week although if you're in the mood tonight just send me a msg on PSN and I'll play!

am always down, but have been abnormally busy as of late, hopefully that can subside for a bit soon. (perhaps next week?)

Is anyone down for some challenge action in the next week or so, (I usually work until about nine pst and clear after then) add my psn if you want to get some on when/if i have the time.

I'll tell everyone my master plan, but it may not fully take effect into next week, to bring Burnout night back up.

Thursday's are rough...I think I'd rather be playing Unreal at the same time. Maybe I'll alternate weeks?

Seeing as Paco and others usually start up before the 9:30 time for UT3, I figure I'd do UT3 from 9-10 and then BP from 10-need to go to bed.

That's the plan anyway. :D

Dude, I know you had me all along, but whatever car that was that you get online is fast as all heck. No boost though. There's just one problem ..... it doesn't steer well. :bomb:

I was going to hop over to Burnout tonight but Matt and I were laying waste to the unwashed masses on UT3. At least that's how I'm tellin' it.

Maybe next week? Or some other night?
 
Yes, I will be there at Burnout night next week. I had to go because my room was getting quite hot (all because my Dad refuses to let the AC run) and I was still quite tired from waking up early. Shouldn't be as bad next week.
 
I want to like this game, but I have no idea what's going on most of the time. I still can't figure out Crash times or whatever the hell it's called, freeburn or whatever. The red street signs. I have no idea where to start or finish for certain times, and I can't seem to crash more than like 4 cars if I ever even know where to crash them. So all I do is go around, trying to get my license up and driving ridiculously fast and then realizing I can't see shit.
 
You can't find the end of a street? Just remembered that Up on the D-pad toggles between Road Rules Off, Time, and Showtime. Only start showtime if theres a lot of traffic in front of you to crash into. If you just switch to Time and drive around the upper right side of the map, you're sure to figure out where the end of a street is sooner or later.
 
I feel so bad that I keep missing the Burnout nights... its hard because I get off work at 10pm, and sometime I have to stay in the office till then. Damn I need an iphone so can keep track of things.

Which leads me to ask has anyone heard if the upcoming trophies will be like uncharteds where it just uses the ingame awards for trophies, or will they be brand new ones?
 
Sounds like it will just be the ingame awards. I don't think any official word has come out.

Any Burnout happening tonight? I've got the sudden urge to try the new online cars.
 
I just picked up this game to play around with my G25 wheel...

All I can say is that the wheel support is horrible in this game. It controls like crap and is incredibly inconsistent. Wheel support was obviously an afterthought. Guess i'll still be waiting for GT5 proper for a good usage of my wheel.
 
Yeah good times. Maybe more will show up when the bikes update hits.
