Burnout Paradise - General Discussion & Info / TROPHY HUNTERS WELCOME!
I got all the trophys y'all! :D
heh nice, I think I'm at 65% atm. I stopped playing today because well I've been playing it all this week. Even before the trophies came out. Hehe hone could vouch for that...btw hone I'm going to take my roads back . I need to complete the online trophy part so I'm game whenever.

The only trophies I can't figure out how to do are the 2x and 4x Boost Chain ones. I have no idea how to initiate those.

I haven't done many events (I'm still on a C license atm) but I have 43 of the 64 Trophies.
Although visually it looks identical, I've had a few occasions of slow down (nothing significant) on the psn version and for the life of me I never encountered that in the disc version.

There's gotta be less in there than the disc version but what was cut if anything I don't know.
I've had weird slowdown too in the disc version also lately that use to not occur. I wonder if it has anything to do with the recent update.

Just popped this in again for the first time since the big update a few months ago. WOW am I impressed with the support for this game after release. I didn't realize how much fun online was when you're doing challenges as a team. Kudos to Criterion.. they just brought a 9 month old game back into my rotation.

Could be and in that case both games look and play identical. Well done to criteron for squeezing all that into 3 gigs.

Yeah, once they are on your PS3 hard drive you can access them in-game by pressing right on the d-pad and scrolling all the way down to soundtrack. You can skip tracks by pressing R1.

Awesome! Thanks for the info man. Worked like a charm. Though I had to look up how to find the MP3s on the thumb drive.

Can I also listen to my songs while playing MotorStorm?
We're finally ready to unveil the first in a wide range of new Burnout Paradise content for 2009.

Our first pack of the year will be called Burnout™ Paradise Party.

Burnout Paradise is an awesome social game, but the action's all online. With Party, we wanted to create something for when all the players are in one place – gathered around a single screen.

Fans of the classic Crash Mode from Burnout 2: Point of Impact will know that this is not the first time we've done something like this. And we hope the response to Party is as warm as it was for Crash mode.

So, if you like to get together and play games, it's time to break out the drinks, party hats and balloons!

Now you can enjoy Burnout Paradise in a completely new way.

1. Get together with up to 7 friends and gather round a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Here you can see us lining up for a little Halloween-themed fun with Burnout Party. You can see the full session in our latest Crash TV video podcast - it's The Halloween Special!

2. Start Burnout Paradise and get the Party Pack update from the Store or Xbox Live

3. Pause to admire the excellent new Party Edition visuals and atmosphere! We've overhauled not just the presentation screens but also the in-game visuals, which are now brighter and more colourful in recognition of Burnout's new party theme.

4. Select 8-player party and get ready for the action.

2988243825_46e4380728.jpg

5. It's pass-the-pad, so you'll only need one controller to play, no matter how many players are involved!

6. The game selects a player at random and drops them into Paradise with a simple, fun challenge to complete.

Land a barrel roll!

Survive racing oncoming traffic

Race a circuit of the dirt track in the best possible time

There are 3 types of challenge to take on – Stunt, Speed and Skill. Stunt involves jumps and tricks. Speed features quick time trials and timed challenges. Skill includes racing through oncoming traffic and drifting your car.

7. Pick up the winner and run around cheering / commiserate the loser

8. Give it another go! Don’t forget, there are extra trophies and achievements available within this pack.

You'll be able to purchase this awesome premium Burnout Paradise content from February 2009.

...
"Purchase" :cold::lol:
Is that the first Paradise update that'll cost money?
Also, that looks like it has no use unless someone has a bunch of real life friends that likes to play video games. Most of the people I know that enjoy video games I met on CAG.:)

It has trophies, therefore, it has a use. That's pretty much it though.

Looks like I won't be getting that pack.
Oh well. Too bad the first of the year isn't Islands.
I bet they wait until the last update to give us that.
Oh well, that keeps me free to play Gears 2, LBP, etc.
It has trophies, therefore, it has a use. That's pretty much it though.
But the trophies would, most likely, have to all be "faked" unless you have a group of "real life" friends that like video games.

It just seems silly for them to focus on local multiplayer.:???:

Yeah, generally if I have more than 2 people at my house it's SingStar, Rock Band, Buzz Quiz. I'm going to bet that those people probably woudn't really be up for a bout of BP Party.

If I'm going to pay just for trophies I'll pick up something I want to play.

Yeah, that too, there are better local multiplayer games to play, ones where it's more fun for the people that are waiting for their turn to play. Racing games aren't that fun to watch, in my opinion.

This just seems like a bad idea...

They announced that they're using the in-game browser for a new Burnout Live News page:
We're working hard to get closer to our fans this year.

We've already invited many to join us here at CriterionGames for a tour of the studio and a chance to meet the Burnout team. We introduced a blog and an in-game news service, so we could deliver all the latest Burnout news direct to the people that matter most, and we're bringing you all the latest information on what we're building and why, as we go about bringing Burnout Paradise the greatest online support for a game ever.

Now, we're making use of Sony's incredible in-game PlayStation 3 browser to go a step beyond.

We're taking the existing Burnout Live News Page and revolutionising it using the PlayStation browser to bring you a massively upgraded news service, enhanced social play and much, much more – the result is something we're calling the Burnout Paradise Network.

We're looking forward to bringing you more information on this in the new year.

They also announced a Burnout Paradise rerelease, called Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box:
The Ultimate Box will be available in Feb 2009 and will contain the original Burnout Paradise, including Codenamed Cagney and Burnout Bikes, and also Burnout Paradise Party plus a mountain of new refinements.

Edit: There's no reason to get upset about paid DLC yet since the bikes were planned to be sold until a few weeks before it came out.

Here’s this week’s big announcement!

We’re talking Burnout Paradise Legendary Cars.

This year, we’ve introduced some of the most incredible vehicles yet seen in a Burnout game. Our FREE Cagney pack brought you the crazy Steel Oval Racer and the Hippie Wagon, and the FREE Bikes Pack brought motorcycles to Paradise City for the first time ever.

In 2009, we’re taking Burnout vehicles to the next level with some truly unbelievable new vehicles. First up – The Jansen 88 Special.

This classic 1980’s styled silver sports car is based on the fan-favourite Jansen P12, but we’ve made a few interesting modifications.

Fill the gauge and hit boost to trigger burning flame trails from your back wheels. The 88 Special’s fast, manoeuvrable and great in the air.

In fact, if you want to take off, this is just the car for you. Hit L3 to switch to hover mode – the wheels retract and the car takes off and hovers through Paradise City at head height.

Seriously. It hovers.

This is the first of 4 cars that we’re making available as part of a wealth of new downloadable content for Burnout Paradise. They’re available to buy individually or discounted, if you pick up the whole set. In addition to the Jansen 88 Special, look out for the Cavalry Bootlegger, Manhattan Spirit and the GT Nighthawk.

We’ll bring you details of these in a future post or on Crash TV – our video podcast.

We’ll be back next week with another cracking podcast and another killer announcement for next year’s awesome Burnout Paradise content.
Also, I just spent around 3-4 hours last night finding all the remaining smashes/billboards/jumps, only to realize, there aren't trophies for doing those things.
You get cars though, don't you? I'd rather have an in-game reward.

Apparently, this is only one of the cars if you read between the lines.

I'm hoping for...
- The Blues Brothers Police Car
- The Batmobile/Tumbler
- Al Bundy's 1947 Dodge
- The Turtle Van

This is going to make me finally pick this game up.
Apparently, this is only one of the cars if you read between the lines.
If you read between the lines? It's said quite explicitly that it's the "first of 4 cars".
Seconded. I may finally pick up Burnout next year.
Why not buy it now? There's more than enough free stuff to be worth a purchase.

I'd consider it if I wasn't already playing LittleBigPlanet, Rock Band 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Yakuza, Mega Man 9, Grand Theft Auto IV, Gears of War, and Final Fantasy Tactics A2.
You get cars though, don't you? I'd rather have an in-game reward.
Yeah... I liked getting the new cars, but I specifically did it in an attempt to complete all the single player trophies. If I would have realized earlier I would have put it off.

The speculation about what the other three cars in the Legendary pack (Cavalry Bootlegger, Manhattan Spirit and the GT Nighthawk) are referring to the General Lee, the Ecto-1, and KITT.

I want to unlock all the cars in the game and was wondering, do I need to complete all the Stunts to do this? I really hate these and have NO fun doing them. Im on the elite and have 10 left, along with 42 other events.

If I have to do the stunts, does anyone have any tips for these? They keep raising the damn goal and I cant get anywhere.

I have to get the Ubershcall online by completing 2 challenges. Is anyone here in the same boat and want to give it a shot, or is anyone here willling to help me out? Everyone I know owns a 360 so I need some PS friends.

I'm also terrible at stunts, but what I've learned is to just kep boosting for a second every little bit (or drift) so you keep the same chain going and just try to bump up the multiplier with big jumps and signs.

There used to be CAG online nights and we were having 8 people in a room, I hope they haven't dissapeared...

I think it's on a long hiatus. A lot of new games came out these past few weeks and there's still more on the way. But you can still ask around and see if anyone wants to play.

Things have been a bit crazy as of late due to various games. TBH, part of it has to do with debating how to fit in a few games.

But if people want to play it together (without me), they are more than welcome to, just let me know, I'll update my Burnout thread (it's a page or two back) and tell everyone who is hosting.

I've been very busy myself lately (so much that I've purposely avoided getting LBP and Resistance 2 just so they don't tempt me yet), but once December rolls around I'd be up for bringing burnout back occasionally.

Here's my secret: no matter where the event starts, just boost and keep alive until you get to the bridge in the southwest. Flatspin while flying off the ramps, making sure to go through the billboards. When you hit the west end, turn around and drive back east, hitting any jumps you missed. Directly after the bridge there's a shortcut to your right which goes over some shipping crates. Just stay off the roads, and you end up going through a ton of billboards, super jumps, etc and get a huge multiplier. Just don't crash.

Well I had been trying that but I could never make it. What really helped was the mentioning to use boost once in awhile to link! Because of that I can get there now, I was just draining boost to get there asap. I have 5 stunts left and theyre the furthest from the bridge, Im curious if I can make it..... just dont crash is right! Thanks man.

This. Also just north of the west end of the bridge (driving south past the quarry entrance) is that stupidly big super jump. Barrel roll off that and it's an automatic 4x multiplier. And then if you make it through what pete said keep going up to the naval yard and go west across the beach.

Finally Got my Platinum!Took like 2 hours though, alot of people don't really like to help out.I just need the Staduim 8 people and it was a bitch.

You don't need the bike trophies for a platinum since the expansion trophies are considered separate for all games, I have a platinum on burnout with only 93% or something.

Maybe 2 - 3 so I can complete the minimum 2 freeburns to unlock the Uberschall ;)
