CAG 3rd Strike Tourney!! jimfoley16 is the Champ!!!

Who's volunteering to record their matches? I'll organize but I don't have the means to record the matches. Also, KOF 02/03 is going to be given to the winner. Not a great prize but I'm not exactly Mr. Moneybags here.

other people can pitch in... I'll see if I have anything.

If other people want to throw in to make this a great prize, I'm all for it. I just don't think this is something that Cheapy wants on the front page. It seems like since this isn't a deal, it'll just have to continually bumped to the front page.

Man, although I have been playing SF since 1990 I can definitley admit I am waaay past my prime to play this game at a tourney. Plus I am not sure if you guys think so but I ahve trouble adjusting to the 360 controler playing this game. It reminds me of having to adjust to the DC controler. The PS2 one was 2nd best to use SF with but I still favour the SNES contoler over anything to play this game. Have fun with your tourney guys!

mrchainsaw -- Can I add your name to the list along with your generous contribution?

Oh, and Rodimus, put your money or where your mouth is!

Anyone have any ideas for recording matches or will it be done individually? I'm all for watching some of these great match ups but I don't have the technology to get that done. Anyone else wanna step up?

I recommend not using a gamebridge. looks like shit while you are playing and you get extra input delay, putting you at a huge disadvantage.

sucks there aren't lobbies so a 3rd person could record the matches

Bumpin' this back to the top. We can assume that Cheapy won't put this on the front page seeing as how he hasn't posted here or replied to my private message.

I hope this leads to another tourney. I would love to enter but have to attend a wedding that day (I'm actually in the wedding). But good luck to all entrants... Hopefully next time for me!

Keep checking back here. You never know what might happen. I hope this is the beginning of CAG tournaments also. Or maybe we can start our own 3rd Strike league?

If you still need people I'll throw down, if not no biggie. Hell, I dont even know If i still have an online ranking anymore.

And is there a set time for this to take place?

It's not about needing people. I'll make a bracket with any number of people. If you want to play and prove yourself, throw your hat into the ring.

If we can't use online rankings, we'll just give seeds out according to entry date.

Too bad about Cheapy not wanting to "Officially" (heck even unofficially) support this. This is the kind of community-building thing that makes good game sites great.

I mean, can you imagine a Capcom or Namco-sponsored CAG fighter tourney?

Granted, 2D fighters are as niche as genres get these days, but really, if there's a market...?

Actually, CAG should pop a tourney for whatever game/system CAG members want. Cheapy has the affiliate ties to sponsor his own prizes, if he really wanted, and if he and Wombat are now on good terms with MS, then why not more XBL stuff, too?

I've sent a message to Cheapy with no response. Shrike has responded twice but all he will say is that "It's up to Cheapy". Cheapy hasn't even responded to that disaster that has become Video Game Central or whatever that bootlegger is calling themselves.

I'm sure Cheapy has his reasons--it may be as simple as it's just not a big deal to him. Obviously not a priority for him.

When T5DR online finally drops, and more ppl have PS3s... I'll be glad to host weekly Tekken CAG tournaments (I'll see if I can get Namco to sponsor it as well) !

Keep the faith!

Yeah, the inevitable Markman Tekken Tournaments are a big reason why I wanna grab Tekken DR now and start learning the game.

Blame DoA if you suck initially.

Because videos of him eating lunch > than a site tourney.

Duh.

What the hell is going on here lately??? It's like Cheapy's acting like some detached dictator. The commoners are screaming about Video Game Central and we're trying to get support for a tournament and he's eating fucking pickles........just because he can.

he's got a point. Dill pickles are great. If it's those damn sweet pickles though, I'm going to picket.

Interesting.

I'm ordering SF w/ free shipping from EB. Hopefully it comes in before its too late. If anything, I wonder how well my Ryu will do in the tournament.

Well, count me in. Any idea what time we will be starting? And is it going to be a best of 3 or one shot winner takes all for each match?

This tournament will be best of 3. I'd like to make sure the best player moves onto each round. Once we get some tournaments under our belt, maybe we can start one round matches and other things to encourage upsets.

Looks like people are buying sticks just for this tournament......some of these matches are going to be crazy. Less than a week if anyone wants to sign up!

Just wondering, what system and controller will everyone be using? My 360 just died again and was wondering if any og xbox users will be throwing down. My nice PS2 Saturn pads dont work through my converters for no particular reason and was looking for some decent alternatives.

ha ha, I'm going to get creamed. Not that a stick would help me much, but it'd be nice to get a move in before losing. :p

And I'll be on 360 (provided my schedule doesn't disqualify me). I assume most of the entrants will be 360 as well.
fuckin' DOA stick havers.

It'll be particularly interesting to see how things change for Rodimus and Apossum...
Actually I haven't practiced atall ith it yet. Suikoden Tactics is taking my time. I really need to practice.

Forget Suikoden Tactics until the tournament is over. Let's get some quality matches in so people will take CAG tournaments seriously.

I must withdrawl due to some family obligations...however, I'm throwing a prize in the pot. One DOA2 (Dreamcast) shiny metallic poster will go to each of the two finalists.
depascal22: I've got no mic, if that's not a problem count me in.

I just need your XBL gamertag so I can look up your stats.
