I'm not modding, I'm building from scratch.

I modded my tekken stick before tho,

u kno why I'm not happy with this btw?

the stock screws that screwed the joystick into the panel had like a flat head.

but they're too long to mount the sanwa JLF that I put in there so I bought shorter screws from Home Depot

but the screws have a more bulbous head and puts like a couple millimeters of space that prevent me from fully locking the square restrictor gate in place

but the gate never has fallen off despite all the abuse I've put it thru doing TK Axl bombers so it's all good!!

Damn I can't wait till I have an excellent stick.

Next month is gonna kick ass!

Winter break, birthday, christmas, new years BAYBEEE!

And the money I will save to go on my SFIV buying splurge.

I'm going to essentially be building from scratch. The only thing that will be from the original stick is the PCB. Other than that, I want to build new housing and buying all new bells and whistles for it.

The official Street Fighter IV arcade sticks should be in GameStop's system for preorders as soon as tomorrow, if not... early next week.

The official names of the products are....

Street Fighter IV FightStick
Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition
Street Fighter IV FightPad

Expect some news next week on Capcom-Unity, SDTEKKEN, and SRK!

I hope this news involves pictures and stuff!

yay! mostly wondering what the final version of the controller will look like. it's been a while since I've seen a controller with a d-pad as nice as some neo-geo style stick-pads.

Should I pick up the Hori Fighting Stick 3/Soul Calibur IV Arcade Stick (I believe they're the same) or do you guys have faith the Mad Catz Street Fighter IV one will be better? I need one that's under $50.

I'd say just wait for the SFIV stick if you're in no dire need for one. FS3 is passable for an average person, but even then you can definately notice its faults.

On a side note, research proposals are time consuming -_-

For a 360 stick, do you guys think the "back" button is expendable? For the mod I'm considering, I wouldn't have anywhere to put it!

But I know some PSX fighters have used "select" as a taunt button, or for fake moves in SF alpha... so since "Back" is the Xbox equivalent I figured I should double-check. Any 360 fighters use that button for anything? Or if they do, are you at least able to re-map it?

here's a question that probably won't get an answer yet:

are the sf4 sticks compatible with both systems?
Just remember with FS3/SC4 stick, you get what you pay for... They are not quality (at least in my book).
Is there any difference quality-wise between the FS3 and the Hori360 stick? Are they essentially the same except one's for the 360 and the other works on the PS3?

I think it's been established that they will not be multicompatible. I don't think any official product will ever be compatible with both a 360 and PS3.

for my stick I'm only doing 6 face buttons instead of 8 becoz I never use the extra 2... like never ever

but often times the omitted buttons could prevent you from selecting certain options, like I dont think I can choose EX characters in GGXX using my stick... but I never use them anyway so I dont really care

This had been asked MANY times... but first time here on CAG. Basically my company can't do this. But it is not impossible. It's a licensing issue.

I've been answering EVERYTHING I can about the sticks at the SRK thread here:

They are actually two different sticks. The parts are almost identical. Also they have different buttons (6 vs 8) and the PCBs are wired differently.

Right, which is why no official product will ever have the compatibility. It'd probably cost an arm and a leg to get a quality stick tailor made to work with both systems.

Yeah, I knew they were two different sticks, but I didn't know how the parts stacked against each other. I'm assuming that quality wise they're pretty much the same though?

Arcade in a Box charges $200+ for custom 360/PS3 sticks.

if you taught me how to wire everything, I would do it for much cheaper =P

you can keep your arm and leg

Gamestop didn't have preorders up for any SF4 sticks yet. They also don't have PSN money which sucks if you were hoping to pay for SFHD with Gamestop credit.

Personally I feel that the parts in the EX2 are superior to the FS3. But not by much.

Markmang! Smallwing! anybody! do any of you guys know...

I drilled a 1-1/8'' and 1-1/4'' hole and the first one is too tight, the second one is too loose for fitting in Sanwa 30mm screw in...

what drill bit sizes should I get for the 30mm and 24mm buttons???

freakin america and their non-metric system btw... eat a phatty.

anyways I need to shop for them now  mo money mo problems

Does anybody know offhand what the GameStop trade-in value on a Hori EX2 stick for the Xbox 360 is? I'm really not that happy with it.

The GS I went to in South Bay had the SFIV stick ready for pre-ordering--$79.99 for the standard edition. I'll order when I get back home from vacation, or if it shows up on Amazon.

wondering if i should get the Soul Calibur Stick for the 360... or wait for the SFIV to come out? what will the differences be?
wondering if i should get the Soul Calibur Stick for the 360... or wait for the SFIV to come out? what will the differences be?
Put it this way, I'm considering trading in the non-Soul Calibur artwork version of that stick(the EX2) in for one of the Mad Catz Street Fighter IV sticks.
I'd say wait and see how the SFIV sticks turn out before buying anything else.

Yea, I'm not gonna lie, you guys should wait.

I hope the factories and quality control are on point for the SF4 sticks, cuz if they come out at a quality level (which I'm going to bet on), they'll be good.

If not I'll be in big trouble. lol.

SRK will have the torches and pitchforks out. ;)
1-3/16" for the hole saw.
I cant even find that shyt at Home Depot... tho I did find a 15/16'' spade but it was in a pack of like 10 for $10 when I only needed that one >_<

on SRK sum guy said I should jus buy online, but now my problem is finding an online store that sells a mm measured bit

fukkyn america and their disuse of the metric system, seriously.

and while I'm at it, fukk their use of the farenheit scale

Find an Ace Hardware retail store (not their online store). They have hole saw drill bit sizes that nobody else has. However you also have to buy a pilot bit, which is annoying.

Check out that I got on the cheap today!

[IMG-C=4838]3522[/IMG-C]

After I buy parts to mod it, I'll have another top notch stick for around $50. Woot. These STA sticks sell for over $100 on ebay too.

You just bought my all time favorite arcade stick, and you got it for $5 cheaper than I did too.;) I absolutely love it. Fantastic find!:applause::applause::applause:

Vintage Stock had it for that price. I went there looking for a Sega CD and found that instead. I saw it on the top shelf and said to myself "if it's around $40-50 bucks I'll buy it." I pulled it down, saw the asking price and said "sold!" out load.

You should think about modding yours depascal22. All the parts are less than $20 on lizardlick.com and the difficulty has to be 3/10 if not easier.

I've been reading the SRK thead on the sticks and it's all great information about the Tournament Stick, but info on the standard stick/pads seem pretty scarce (the pads moreso). The only thing I've gathered about the standard stick is that it will not have sanwa parts (which I suppose was obvious) and that it is easily moddable (which is worthless to me because I don't plan on modding anything... I just want a decent stick out of box).

I was excited about the pads, but the more I think about it, the more I realize I know diddly about them. I don't know what the configuration will be, what options they'll have, their size, their shape, their artwork/color, their D-pad style, and I read something along the lines of MarkMan not giving a comparison to the Saturn pad because of potential "bias." I don't know what that means, but if the pads aren't going to be as good as they were first announced to be, I'll be a very sad panda. Frankly, I'm more excited about the pads than the stick and since they're cheaper, I'd be able to buy all of them to complete a collection.

Also, pre-orders at Gamestop weren't happening this weekend. I'll try again next week.

lol GuardianE, just wait until Tuesday and I'll speak freely on all the products.

Keep your eye on Capcom-Unity.

Lots of ppl were confirming preorders at GS already, hopefully yours will start preorders by tomm.

But if you have any questions(specific ones) about the regular FightStick or FightPad, just PM me.
It's too bad you can't get paid for your LBP levels, ReRo.
no worries... I'll be getting money for my current job eventually... I just can't get the money till some bullshit forms clear with the place I work. It's taken me 4 months and I still haven't gotten paid. I go in tomorrow for a background check that took them 2 months to say I was okay to take... >_<

the pay is good and quick once you do get on their official list of employees.

man, i want a tournament stick

i wonder which one is easier to make cross compatible... any hints on that? =)
