Is Mad Catz planning to put out some of those pads down the line sans the SFIV art?

I'd love a good d-pad for XBLA games etc., but I don't dig the SF art at all and really just want a plain black pad.
So after going through many hurdles and setbacks I finally got my HRAP2 SA in yesterday ... and I don't like it much ;___;. I need to get an octagonal gate and test more then, but me and everyone I played w/ last night was having problems pulling off all kinds of moves reliably w/ it from hadoken/shoryukens to KoF style DMs (most likely because none of us could use the square gate well). I took off the gate and (for now, until I get the octagonal gate) tapped the pcb to keep it in place and it played much better but still will take a LOT of adjustment to get used to. I'm starting to worry if buying the TE and the MC Cthulhu will turn out to be a waste of $ for me if I can't adapt >_
I think I've officially decided to dump my HRAP3 and get an american stick. You guys think I can get close to what I paid for it?
You are absolutely ridiculous.

GGT pass revoked.

I think its a blessing that I had no arcades around growing up. You know that feeling of when you need to sneeze but it just wont come out? Thats the feeling I got when I tried to use an american stick at a lan party last week. But to each his own. Octagonal gate and bat-top just doesn`t do it for ya huh?

how much did you pay for happ3

I have a question most of ya on this thread have seen often,
how much did it cost you guys to make your first custom stick (not modding)?

My rough estimate is with that cthulu board (did I spell it right) and generally all the 'electrical' components will run me $70-$90 (price varying cause I'm not done researching on joysticks... rollie seems nice... or hell I might just even use push buttons instead).
All the building materials shouldn't exceed $30 (a total assumption here)?

I know there are plenty of guides out there on how to make a custom sticks, but I'm more interested at this point about other's experiences in building their own first stick.

Any tips? Set the house on fire?

I suck at fighting games (I'm not being modest)...but this one hobby I can't quit...
last arcade stick I ever owned was the agetec one for dreamcast (lost it somehow)

Unless you buy a case or mod an existing stick, be prepared for some long ass hours put into crafting your custom case.

actually looking forward to it, I always wanted to try it...

My custom uses Happ parts and took me a few days to build total, though hours put into it aren't too many. It was pretty simple to build. Cost was about $35 for the Canadian Poplar that I used, $2 for screws, $6 ish for stain and sandpaper, $10 for the stick, $2 a button x 10, and a PS1 PCB I had laying around. So about $73 or so. I could've used Pine and saved some money, but I wanted some good wood. I'm pretty happy with it overall, though I need to router it sometime.

TE_stick_mockup_with_buttons_blaz.jpg

all the art ppl are makin with the templates makes me want to void the warranty when i get my TE
also i still need to put the money in my account so i can even pay for it

BlazBlue stick.

That Dan one looks great as well. Can't wait to see what people come up with using the templates, I know I'm going to be customizing my stick in the near future.
Wish somebody would make a mockup template for the SE stick! But until then, here's my TE mockup:
Jube3 from Neogaf made one:

Quoted since it had the "last post on a page gets ignored" syndrome. :D

What boards are you going to use? I'd say use a cthulu if you weren't already planning on it.
I grabbed the plain walnut premium case:applause:

I really wish I had the money to have gotten a TE stick to cut a piece of plexi for 6 buttons/no turbo with vewlix art. That would be the hottest stick ever.

No plans, but I think a store in akihabra had a special edition or something that was all black.

Just buy the pad, its worth it. Im sure no one is going to laugh at you for having a video game controller with "god-forbid" video game characters on it.
I scored a Rounded Norris this morning. I really shouldn't have bought it because I have yet to pay for my Madcatz TE stick pre-order. Oh well, it'll be a fun project. I plan on trying a dual mod.
I arrived at work at 1pm (EST), ready to buy my Norris DIY (I even stuck a big note on the front cash register), but there were so many customers that by the time I finished helping them all and got to a computer, they were sold out (1:45pm)

I have a MC Cthulhu w/ tricable on its way, a Sanwa stick, Seimitsu buttons, and all I needed was that damn box (it's my first stick, so I'm going the easy route)

Now I have to wait until March 15 :wall:

Yeah, I'm going to use a cthulu but unassembled. I'm going to solder directly to the PCB. Then I'm going to try and get my hands on another Madcatz XBLA sticks that's on clearance at Gamestop for $9.99. $30 for both is a great deal.

That blows man. They went quick. The rounded ones went in less than a minute and the angled lasted 2 minutes. Hit me up with a PM. I really bought one on impulse. I already have my own homemade box I'm working with and I won't get to my Norris project for weeks. We'll see if we can work something out.

Edit: You don't have to wait until March 15:
"We will be restocking again on Sunday, February 22, 2009 after 10:00am PST. This restock will be only Original DIY cases."

Be sure to call out that day, lol.

I don't care what anyone else thinks about it, I think they're just tacky looking.

Oh well, I probably wouldn't use it enough to justify the $40.

Nothing to do with time, I just rarely play 2D games these days and especially 2D fighters, so $40 is hard to swallow. $20 I'd probably pick one up and give SF2 HD Remix a go.

You'll probably be able to pick one up at that price once they've been out for a few months.

I heard people give up their lives when they play HD Remix, and forget all adult responsibilities.
I did a case study on hanksmecrankme to prove this.

I am an adult with adult responsibilities, and crushing you completely in HD Remix is one of them. :bomb:
You would've seen the same result from hank if you gave him a large bag of Doritos.
Too true. And some Dew too. :)

Crushing would not be the correct word, sir.

You still cant dominate the bitches like I can.

You got me there, but you'll never be able to beat me in HD Remix at least.

You can have your bitches, I'll be over here practicing with Geif. . .
