CAG Arcade Stick Thread
I did just buy one a month ago. I have realized that it's not the stick that will make me better, it's practice, and I'm more than okay with that. However, I want another stick for 2p matches. I've also developed kind of an affinity for sticks after buying the HRAP3. I need MOAR.
Do you have friends that would even use an arcade stick instead of a gamepad? I'm not asking to be a dick or anything, I just know from my experience that having 2 sticks is completely pointless 'coz most of my friends are totally lamers.

i think you are a obsessive-compulsive, shopaholic. like me :x

so, would you be satisfied if the HRAP3 was the last stick and only stick you were ever able to own?

I've been researching into sticks and am getting the impression that sanwa makes the best stuff...or at least just as good as the best of the best.... so why are you now looking into Happ? ;x

have you modded your hrap3? i plan on upgrading my buttons....but what else is there??
I've been researching into sticks and am getting the impression that sanwa makes the best stuff...or at least just as good as the best of the best.... so why are you now looking into Happ? ;x
Well Happ is like a whole different style of stick... one can't really directly compare it to the others. I mean in the end they ALL come down to personal preference, but that's even more the case when you're talking Happ vs. any Japanese manufacturer. And I dunno the situation for DarthPuma's mod but sometimes the stick's case will just accept some parts more readily than others. Just idle speculation on my part!

A good basic resource on differences between Sanwa, Seimitsu, and Happ
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=118289http://216.246.50.234/showthread.php?t=118289

There's also the pcb to change out if desired.

My overall impression on the three parts is Sanwa is the most popular and used, the buttons are soft to touch. Seimitsu is close behind and overall I think their clear buttons and sticks look nicer. Their buttons are also slightly stiffer than Sanwas. Happ is totally different with their bat tops (tighter springs), concave buttons, and default circle gates.

Also I believe the Shafts on the Sanwa sticks are higher than most of Seimitsus. Can anyone confirm this?

Bad news for anyone who ordered using amazon for their fightsticks, they upgraded my game and guide but this is what they had to say about my fightstick:

I ordered December 23 for the fightstick, on a similiar note they cancelled my original strategy guide as well(the special edition one with the hardcover) so I had to reorder the standard one, but it could have been prima who cancelled them all.

The hardcover guide was canceled completely. They are not coming out with it.

Also, did you e-mail asking them or did they e-mail you?

I e-mailed them about it and that was their response.
@phrostbyte I read a very good rumor that could very well be true, that most of their order is going to fullfil gamestops allocation first then everyone else, looks that way considering gamestop was the first ones able to get it to their online customers, who they have had a good bussiness relationship with for years.

So I should've gone with Gamestop instead of Amazon. . . But I feel dirty buying from Gamestop.

Whatever. I'll just either be patient, or cancel and take that money and build a custom.

@ Phrostbyte may I suggest express delivery.XD
@ hankmecrankme I feel the same way about gamestop and now I have an important decision to make do I wait and let them ship my game and guide and hope they get and send me my stick or do I cancell now and start saving for a custom because you see without the stick I dont want the game or guide.

I placed my Amazon order on November 26th.

It's up to you, m_m23. I'll still get the game, and just play it on the 360 controller. Since the TE stick is $150, that would completely cover a custom for me. Hmm. . .

Hm, I guess I'm glad I cxld the amazon order, but shit if Capcom store isn't ending up going into the same black hole. >_<

Curse me and my wanting to save $15!

But lol, yeah, whenever I order from GS, I feel a pain around my bunghole, too. :p

I'm getting worried as to when my local Gamestop here in STL is going to get them. They did not receive them in today's UPS shipment (just the fightpads.) With no deliveries on Monday (federal holiday) that means I'll have to wait until noon Tuesday at the earliest. Sigh.

I guess I have to be grateful I should still get mine, unlike others here with orders from VGC, Amazon, and BB. Hope you get yours soon.

I will never fucking preorder from bestbuy.com again. Motherfuckers...

I just called Amazon and the guy said he has no reason to believe that my fightstick TE order will be delayed. I ordered Dec 12th.

"There's been a change to the release date for your pre-ordered item.

The new release date is 03/01/2009. Your order details are listed below"

Damnit!

just got my HRAP 3!

tried it out... liked the slightly heavier feel of the sanwa joystick over the fight stick 3's hori joystick.

the buttons felt more stiff and heavy compared to the fight stick 3's buttons.

it was somewhat hard to tap the buttons really fast.....i think i'll upgrade for sure now.

now, if i only someone would vote on my poll for preferences for octagon/circular/square restrictor gates - for street fighter.

we have this thread so that you do not have to make that topic.

to answer your question, it's all preference. Lots of ppl like octagon gates, lots of ppl like square gates. Personally I like square gates becoz if I allow myself to become comfortable on an octagon, it fukks up my execution when I go to the arcade and play on an arcade standard square gate.

thanks man. can you tell me what axis the octagon "stands" on?

the small picture where it's standing on it's side...or the bigger picture where it's standing on one of its corners.

by the way, i can't see myself playing at some sweaty, dirty arcade. teenagers and weird middle aged men with raw-dogging hands come to mind :X

this te release is one large clusterfuck.

the following retailers took more preorders than they should have

bestbuy
amazon
capcom

its seeming more and more like the same happened with gamestop as well.

now either all these retailers just flat out took too many orders

or

madcatz told them they were getting one number and wound up sending them a lower number of sticks

considering all those retailers cut off preorders at a certain point (bestbuy and capcom within a day or so of opening them, from what i remember) im leaning towards the latter. of course i have no proof of this, but either way, someone messed up.

add Gamecrazy to the list. Just got off the phone with the two stores I preordered from and they said they their first shipment will not be enough and every pre-order will not get one at launch. they both basically said Mad Catz and/or Capcom effed up.

Hmm, anyone that ordered from Amazon, keep your preorders, it would seem that the March delivery estimate is correct seeing as Gamestop are sending out emails randomly to store managers estimating the begining of March for the rest of their preorder fullfillments. What saddens me is when I see someone saying they went to go pick up their TE sticks but only keeping one the rest are for ebay. *crys*

i guess no one knows the answer to this question D:

yea a couple gamestops in the area mentioned an email about all te preorders being filled by the first week of march.

as for people selling on ebay, at the price they're going for, i dont blame them at all. of course i think it's absolutely insane people are paying these prices, but you can use the profits and get yourself a really nice custom stick for free.

i've seen them go as high as $385

i have no clue what the exact fees would be, but profit has to be around $200 at that price.

even if you sold at $300 (which seems to be very feasible at this point) you'd get a nice profit making a custom or another te much cheaper.

No, it would probably rarely get used by a friend, I was just using that as a way of justifying it.

hey you cheap asses..

so in true cheap ass fashion, i may only replace a few of the buttons i spam the most for my new HRAP3 =D

probably not the L1, L2, R1, R2 buttons.. ;)

This is from OGHowie of SRK forums:

This was posted on Destructoid:

"It’s no secret that Mad Catz had a limited manufacturing run of their Street Fighter IV Fight Sticks and Gamepads. The small numbers are indicative of a company that isn’t used to its name being associated with quality. It’s a perception (and perhaps a corporate culture) that Mad Catz wants to change. As Ars’ Ben Kuchera pointed months ago, Mad Catz is hot for gamer redemption and the SFIV controllers are the first step.

Unfortunately, there's a problem with this new beginning. The limited run of the controllers isn’t going to simply hurt the people looking to buy on impulse. It’s also going to smack those core consumers who want it the most and were willing to give Mad Catz products another shot -- the people pre-ordering.

Last night we received a Game Crazy memo from an anonymous source. According to the memo, the retailer is expecting pre-order shortages due to a “channel wide issue.” It goes on to explain that pads will “trickle in over the next 6 weeks to fill all preorders.” Those who don’t get their stuff on the first day will get a lovely parting gift: a SFIV wall scroll which Mad Catz has already packed in the initial shipments.

We verified the delays with several stores nationwide, but weren’t able to ascertain how “wicked cool” the wall scrolls are. Most of the Game Crazys we called have their initial shipment of controllers in, but they won’t be able to sell them before launch.

The controllers that will be experiencing the nastiest delays are the Xbox 360 Akuma Gamepad and the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Tournament Edition Fight Sticks. Additional shipments of the products will go out on February 23, however the final shipments won’t go out until March 30. If you're a Zangief fan, that's a long time to wait."

It follows along the first one's axis (larger pic). I mean, that's how it mounts according to the 4 tabs on the side.

I just got my HRAP EX from Amazon, and ordered a set of Sanwa buttons, an Octagon gate and a Bat Top/adaptor so I should be rockin soon.

No problems with any directional inputs? Work well on PC?

I got lucky in the sense that since I preordered my TE's before the hype train came in, I was the only preorder for awhile. Therefore, if ANYTHING touches down next week, I gotz 1st dibbs!:bouncy:

I'm pretty friggin happy right now. I fixed my FS3. I had to rewire half the joy stick and because my PCB got fucked up had to reroute the triangle button to the L2 button which was unused. I lost a contact on the R2 button so I had to wire the button directly to the copper trail on the PCB. All together about 5 hours work after it had been sitting around doing nothing for 5 months. The joystick is stock and the buttons are Sanwa. I didn't want to wait til tomorrow to get some laminated art so I just ripped a page out of an old SI swimsuit calendar and put that on there, glued to half a Cherios box for added strength ;-) No more DS3 dpad for me!

I'm building a full custom the week after SFIV comes out then this will become P2. Now I got an extra $65 in EB credit since I don't need to buy a fight pad or SFIV stick. Yay!

Dang...

Does anyone know of a place to buy a Sanwa octagonal restrictor plate so I can mod a Hori stick?

I'm finding nothing but dead links, and I cannot seem to find a retailer anywhere!

Alternatively, if someone here has one to sell for a reasonable price, please pm me. Thanks!

Lizardlick.com, awesome service! Cheap prices too...

While you're there go ahead & get some Sanwa buttons :D

Going to try to finish up MGS4 today so I can sell it and order some sanwas. Seems like they have the joystick adapters back in stock so I'll grab one of those and a bat top too.
