Great pickup. Congrats.

Best deal I got on Pelicans was when Barnes & Noble had a price error when they first came out. I bought 10 of them for $4.99 each.

Everyone thought they wouldn't honor it, but they DID!
man i wish i wouldve been into arcade sticks then....
Received my Mamemarquee custom art today and man, it's just as nice as everyone has said! I expected something really good and I was not disappointed! Unfortunately I don't have the buttons nor the screwdriver on hand right now so I can't do anything other than stare at the art. I'll have pics of it when it's done if anyone cares.

Also, thanks to Eastx for answering all my questions!
I was thinking of ordering so yeah I want to see a picture of it

Congrats! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Modded my sticks for the first time ever.
Luckily it was easy, 30 mins for both sticks, everything except pulling out the quick disconnects
REFERENCE for future noobs: you need to do it with some pliers and not your hands, and don't be afraid to pull them off the buttons, TE stick needs 3mm hex key to open

I wanted to wait to get some Seimitsus buttons and a ball top but looking at lizardlicks site seems like they'll take forever to come
Here's some pics:

And I love that Cammy Template, it would've been nicer with another character fighting her though IMO

was going to make a new thread, but luckily I stumbled up on this thread - so:

Looking to get a good/great quality fightstick, mainly for SF4. I have a playstation 3.

Should I settle with the Saulabi 4k? I've heard it's better for 3D fighters? Anyone have experience with it?

Or should I wait and try to find a SE or TE official fightstick. I was first looking into the SE since I'm a noob at best when it comes to fighting games, so I doubt I would notice the difference, BUT if I'm going on a quest to find a damn stick in stock, I might as well get the superior one that is just as hard to find in stock on the PS3. Will the TE differences be wasted on me? I kind of liked the idea of having a TE because I *do* want to try and get good, so it would be nice to be playing on something that feels as authentic to the arcades as possible.

I'm about done with my custom TE art, decided to go for an Ah! My Goddess theme. Planning to order a Seimitsu balltop and the white Seimitsu buttons to put the cutouts in those, once Lizard Lick opens back up.

Still playing around with the background, don't think I'm going to use the one I have now, just using it for a preview.

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated, this is my first arcade stick art that I've worked on.

Saulabi comes down to preference depending on how well you can adjust to a stick style. Korean sticks have a very unique feel to them. For 3D fighters I think you should just use what is more comfortable/responsive to you.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but when it comes to using an arcade stick and finding out which one works best for you. The whole thing is a case of trial and error. You have to try them all out before making judgment.

Thanks MarkMan.

I've think I've let myself get set on the TE stick now though. I think the fact that it's so hard to find and is $150+ has subconsciously made me want it more. And I want to play on authentic Sanwa parts for a try. I've played on the cheap Hori (ex3?) stick before and I didn't like the stick much, so I kind of want something more "arcade" realistic.

A guy I know at Gamestop might be selling me a Tekken 5 stick for $30 (unmodded) How good of a stick is it out of the box? I know you can mod it, but I'm not really good at soldering. I have a HRAP EX modded with Sanwa buttons on X360, but I wanted something good for PS3 as well. I have an inpin convertor and have been using the SF Anniversary joystick, but I play with the stick in my lap and that thing is too bulky for me to use for long periods of time, so I was hoping to get something closer to a HRAP for the PS3 as well.

is lizardlick the only good site to order sticks and buttons? any other good recommendations? i wanna build my stick now... not in 2 months :(

cheers

I don't think any other place has the same selection lizardlick does with the exception maybe of akihabarashop.jp which opens on may 8th. you can check modchipman.com and gamingnow.net to see if they have what you want.

Just paid for my SFAC stick from my friend. $35, and I can't wait to get it. It needs a PCB, but that's no problem. I'll be rocking some Mahvel on it baybee!

Its just as good as a fight stick 3 for the ps3. Nothing great but they arn't shit ether. To be honest your Nuby Tech is better than both of them outta the box.

I believe gamingnow were offering free shipping last Friday, you might want to check there. They also have the Cthulhu and white OBSF 30's in stock.

Lizardlick is open this morning. I ordered a JLF and wiring harness from them! I'm not building a fighting stick but I'm super psyched to get it finally.

Odd question but does anyone know how much it costs to ship the TE stick?

I waited months (through nearly 400 SFIV matches online) for the stick but I'm at the point now where I don't think I need the highest quality and just need a reliable one (which I don't know if the regular Mad Catz SFIV stick is at the moment but I'm leaning towards it -- no modding). If the cost to ship the TE stick is cheap, I think it would be okay to keep because it won't drop by much at the price I got it for ($135 shipped) but if the cost of shipping is high, I want to sell it now.
USPS Priority w/ DC# was around $40 for me. I would suggest going with FedEx or UPS for cheaper delivery.
Yeah, I can easily see $40 with UPS. The stick is pretty heavy, plus if it was light, UPS also charges based upon the size of the package. You end up paying either way.

well i believe they closed up shop sometime in the middle of march so they should almost be caught up on orders so new orders ought not take 2 months.

About $15 if you use USPS flat rate shipping but youll need a big USPS flat rate box.You can order boxes online usps.com for free.

 I'm the last person who should be in here since I've never owned a stick, but anyone have a step by step pic guide on dual modding? it's for a future purchase...

also any good deals for a beginner who just needs to start training on a decent stick?

I haven't seen a good guide yet online about how to dual mod... My friend was trying to find one recently too, but he ended up just shipping it to a forum-goer on Shoryuken who offered to do it for him. I am pretty sure one of the dudes from that forum is working on a guide for this.

RR for a mod just get a madcatz standard stick. Easy as hell to mod it for duel and replacement parts. If you wanted something cheaper just to get you going, I'm guessing for the ps3 pick up the hori fight stick 3. That will hold you over till you want to spend a little more and put the time into getting it the way you want it.

You need to start with a 360 stick that has a common ground PCB. That Hori PS3 stick won't help you at all.

You should read the guide first.

Oh god do not try to mod the Hori FS3. Especially if you are going to use the stock PCB for PS3. You have to do a lot of grinding to get the buttons and joystick to fit. There probably isn't even enough room in the case for two pcbs.

Is there any real difference outside of artwork between the DOA4, VF5 and ex2 sticks from Hori?

Also saw Lizard Lick will open for orders on 5/11/09. I'm guessing people will be setting their alarms for then :p

I only had a stock EX2 from a long long time ago that i used maybe once when i got it, and thanks to SFIV I now have 4 Arcade Sticks and waiting on a 5th. :bouncy:

No one said anything about modding the Hori.

Mack no, they are the same thing, just like the up coming Blazblue stick they are putting out.

Hey Rolento,

I finally got hold of a SFIV TE stick, I was using a Hori T5 with a Pelican adapter previously. You can have the Hori if you need it, I was orginally planning to mod it (butmyassistoolazytobuyasteeldrillbitathomedepot), it works ok stock. PM your address I'll have it shipped out tomorrow, girlfriend already asking why I need two sticks .

It was open for orders yesterday at 10:30am PST before I went to work, dont' know how long they stayed open, but I couldn't figure out what I wanted to buy or if I really need it. I can't believe that they don't have clear red seimitsu bubble ball tops.

I made an order yesterday, 2-3 weeks to get my parts is what they are estimating. Why would they open for one day and ship in 2-3 weeks, meybe needed the money to order more parts?

First post here, going to use it selfishly. Ive been doodling on photoshop trying to create some good custom art for an SE stick and this is what I have so far:
(warning, it is EXTREMELY large, so don't click if you have a slow connection)

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/domination/Art/fightstick.png

I post this here because I am having problems with some of the words i've used. Is there a better word I can use for the triple punch/kick buttons and/or any other text on the piece? any other feedback is also appreciated.
