CAG Fast Food/Restaurant Foodies Thread

Went to a place called The BBQ Joint today. Had the Pulled Chicken sandwich and cheese fries. Not as much BBQ as I would have liked and it wasn't as bold as I normally prefer, but the sandwich was still good and the chicken was well cooked and tender.

The cheese fries were also good. Crispy, salted just right, and lots of thick, goopy cheese.

I went on vacation last week, and ate at some places I don't get to often. I tried Cracker Barrel for the first time. That boneless fried chicken. I also went to Five Guys. I've been there before, and it's always good.

I don't know if any of you have ever been to Harrah's Cherokee Casino in NC, but their buffet is amazing. It's not exactly cheapass at $30 each, but there is so much food.

Cracker Barrel is awesome.  I love the Fried Steak & Chicken Dumplings. And there breakfast is some of the best typical American breakfast you could get. And it served all day.

Also if you guys want to be lazy for Thanksgiving a few years back we ordered a Thanksgiving meal from Cracker Barrel. The whole thing feed 6 of us and there was a ton of leftovers. Not only didn't we not have to cook and clean, but the food was really good.

Hey CAGs do any of you have a burger place called "Frosty King" in your city/town? I'm in Southern California and I've seen a couple of these in different cities I was wonder if other places outside California have them.
Only in California from my travels. I always saw those around, but never went into one. :whistle2:k

Anyone tried the Taco Bell Quesorito yet? I was tempted to stop over there today but it wouldn't fit in my calorie budget. Going to wait for "cheat day" to check it out.

Looks good to me.

Why is your maintenence so high? Lots of muscle or a lot of training?
Lots of cardio, wanting to try another stab at a marathon... though I mix in weight training and other varios activities to always keep my body guessing

... as for the quesarito, I am looking forward to trying it, though I have tempered expectations, since I have had the Chipotle version... disappointed but not surprised of the inclusion of the nacho cheese sauce in the quesadilla part

I've never had Popeyes, probably because all the Popeyes over here are in bad neighborhoods, and I don't like going to bad neighborhoods *sigh

Those Chicken Waffle Tenders at Popeyes aren't too bad. Especially with that honey maple dipping sauce.
Every time I order the Chicken Waffle tenders at Popeye's they always run out of the honey maple dipping sauce. I have never been able to tried the Waffle tenders with the dipping sauce.

I had them once, I just couldnt get into them as all and didnt finish the box I had... now if it was the rip'n or wicked chicken, I would be all over that... guess I prefer Popeyes to have a savory kick to its flavor

I tried the quesarito from Taco Bell. It's just okay. I found the new breakfast items or those Dorito tacos better. The quesadilla part is good, but the burrito part looks like those Loaded Grillers you can get for a dollar during Happy Hour. It's just meat, rice, and sauce. For extra, you can also get the quesarito in chicken or steak, but I don't think it's going to help it that much. If you want a quesarito, you may want to pay the extra amount and head to Chipotle.

Cracker Barrel never did anything for me. It was always annoying when someone drove there just to get lost, parking was bad, you always had to wait for your name to be called over a series of large megaphones, and the food was just ok. Plus the shop was always crowded when you had to pay your bill.

I prefer diners for country cooking. My favorites were "The Clock" and "Jimmy's".  Their Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with mashed potatoes was the best. They were also the first places to introduce me to the concept of having breakfast all day [and night] every day.

Both places are gone now, so I go to a similar place called the Harvest Cafe. Unfortunately, they close at 2 p.m..

Went to Three Brothers again. Once again, the main meal was disappointing. I got BBQ Boneless Wings but the BBQ sauce had a tinge of buffalo sauce in there. Yuck.

Why do I keep going back? They have very good bacon cheese fries and I don't feel like crossing the street to go to Wendy's.

Is Bojangles regional? There are none down in south Florida but I remember seeing them in North Carolina when I would visit family.
Not sure, I've only seen them while in Carolina also. I wish we would get one around here.

Edit: From their store locator, they apparently stick to the South..... and Honduras. :whistle2:k http://www.bojangles.com/locations

The closest for me is the lone Kentucky store in London, KY which is 215 miles away.

Now I want some chicken. It's either KFC or BW3 wings.

Just checked. Closest Bojangles to me is near Orlando. Boooo

But when I do fried chicken I normally go to Publix. for $9.99 you get 8 pieces, 2 sides (usually beans and coleslaw) and some rolls. Freaking great deal and it's tasty too.

I went to El Torito Grill over the weekend and boy, they must have changed a lot of stuff because it was excellent! My taquizas (fancy word for what they call tacos) were delicious and my husbands food was bomb per him as I couldn't try it due to allergies. Best part? It was free :D service was on point too!

How do you guys feel about retail pizza chains? Which ones do you like, which ones do you hate, etc? I enjoy Pizza Hut the best, Papa Johns second, Dominos is okay and Vocelli's (they're only in 8 states I think) is nice though I dislike their pepperoni. Those are the only big chains around here since I live in a craphole area lol. The rest are locals but not complaining about that.

I like Pizza Hutt. It's cheap & tasty. Perfect for parties and a quick cheap lunch. It's not the greatest but it hits the spot every once and a while. Papa Johns was my favorite as a kid but I've grown to hate the cheese. Pizza needs to taste good reheated and Papa Johns tastes like garbage the next day. The cheese gets this weird dark yellow orange hue and It's disgusting. Plus it's too expensive.  Little Ceaser's is a poor man's pizza. It's edible & cheap. The $5 Hot n Ready is great when you're strapped for cash, but you get what you pay for. The crazy bread has always been better than the pizza. Haven't had Dominos in forever.

Nothing bets the local mom n' pops joints when it comes to Pizza. There's a few down here I frequent. (Steve's Pizza is my favorite)

Pizza Patron is pretty good, way better than Little Caesars for the value pizza. The have a spicy pepperoni and jalapeno pizza called the chingona, its really good. You might of heard about it in the news haha. Papa John's is good, love the garlic sauce. I only go there when the Rangers score 7 or more runs = 50 percent off the entire order. Dominoes is pretty good, love the 5.99 deal and the artisan pizzas. Pizza Hut is good, but I really only like the wings, thin crust and sometimes the stuffed crust.

Costco actually has really damn good pizza. Their extra large is only $10 (hot or cold) and the single slices are huge for only $2.

Pizza Hutt is my favorite of the traditional chains. Stuffed Crust is awesome and their Hutt Lovers has good deals on occasion. Their Stuffed Pizza Rollers and Boneless BBQ wings are also great. Used to hate Domino's, but their newer recipe is pretty good.

Kirkland Signature (Costco's brand of stuff) is actually quite good. Their milk stays good for a month, their vanilla ice cream is yummy (and you get a full gallon), and their chicken Alfredo is quite tasty. They also make really good chocolate chip cookies and their chicken bakes are delicious. Their berry sundaes also use chilled strawberries instead of frozen.

I also use their 4-cheese blend exclusively when I make cheese fries at home, though that cheese does have a lot of grease in it.

I liked Little Ceasars before they disappeared for awhile and came back as ghetto crap.

I would say I like either Pizza Hut (specifically thin crust and stuffed crust) and Costco. I don't like Dominos anymore, tastes nasty now :(

Papa johns is too hit and miss for me to rate anymore

I love going to Costco. I agree with you about their pizza and don't forget about the $1.50 Hot Dog and soda combo! Costco is just awesome.

Arby's is killing it right now with the King's Hawaiian BLT and the Smokehouse Brisket sandwiches (the brisket and the gouda both taste deliciously smoky).  Just don't look at the levels of sodium in the nutritional information or you won't try them.

I forgot about Little Ceasar's...man the last place I remember them being around here was in a K-Mart and that was a long, long time ago. I liked their little pizzas they served there, that's all I can remember. Now that I think about it there is one about an hour away from here in a plaza but everyone has mimicked what you guys are saying that it kinda sucks.

Domino's is probably my favorite chain, followed by Papa John's and then Pizza Hut. None are really standout, but hey, pizza's pizza.

The best pizza in my area is from Little Ceasars. There's no Dominos, Pizza Hut or Papa Johns (there are none in Puerto Rico) near. A few local pizzerias make them good but still aren't as "good" as LC.

Pizza Hut is better than it use to be. I personally like their pasta more but their bone in wings are pretty good too(they don't have the Wingstreet attachment here).   Dominos is my favorite with that garlic crust. Their chicken topping is so tasty and I like how their pepperoni doesn't taste burnt anymore.    Papa John's is good too; they got me into eating garlic.

Local pizza is better though. Three in particular here are Esposito's, Pizza Loft, and Marco's. It just tastes so fresh - especially Marco's which actually has giant meatballs when you choose that topping.

It's probably not local but Hungry Howie's is good. It's like Little Caesars (which isn't bad) but has a pasta and sub menu as well. Their 3 cheeser bread is the best and is basically pizza bread strips when you dip them in sauce.

Frozen pizza varies, but my absolute favorite is Freshetta's Pepperoni Pizza. It has a better taste than the Four Cheese variety.

Season's Pizza is the most popular local joint, even getting into Camden Yards, but I find it merely average.

As for take home, local grocery chain ShopRite makes some very good fridge pizza with excellent mozerella and thick crust. They also sell a pound of Sugardale pepperoni for $5.

ShopRite also sometimes has Jack's Pizza on sale for $1. It's OK pizza, but $1 is $1. Otherwise I just get Ellios and load it with pepperoni.

Back in the day little Caesars was awesome. I think their schtick was you always got two pizzas and they had flavored crusts.

These days it's pizza for homeless types. It's $5 for a whole pizza. Counting overhead and profit requirements, how much do you think the ingredients cost? $1? That is some nasty shit.

Papa Gino's is the best fastfood chain IMO. It's a New England thing though.

If you're lucky enough to live in metro Boston, there's a suburban chain called Comella's and their cheese pizza is $5 all day everyday...and it is GOOD. Quality ingredients and a perfect thin crust.

Any pizza is certainly not just pizza. If you don't live around local places then yeah, the chains do a fair job making pizza. But the best local places blow away chains while some local places should close up shop all together. I've had some extremely awful pies in my life.

I can't really say I've had a pizza so bad I didn't want to eat it. Hell, I've eaten a mostly burnt pizza before and it was still good. Maybe I don't have a refined enough palate?

A couple days ago I ate at Sarku Japan. After the crappy Asian places at Arundel Mills, Sarku is a welcome sight, which is saying something as I normally dislike teriyaki sauce.

Also tried Royal Farms new F'Real milkshakes. While they were nowhere near Sonic good, they were actually pretty decent.

Last night I went to Bakers, a local joint only in the Inland Empire. They have an awesome shredded beef burrito but the food is beside the point. As we were coming home from Disneyland we approached the drive-thru only to find somebody half way out of their car window passed out or dead. He ended up being passed out and drove away after somebody shook him a little bit but that concluded the night for me!

I guess I can add that to a list of resteraunt mishapps, maybe around 10 years ago while going through the drive-thru at McDonalds after Disneyland may I add. The place was getting held up, I noticed a revolver  hanging over the counter and a woman being frantic as she went through cash register. I drove away and told my sister to get down low only to almost run over the gunman as he was exiting the store shooting in the air.

That's crazy! But it brings up a great segue for me. I'll be at Disneyland visiting with some family next month and was looking for some great places to eat close to the park. Preferably not chains unless it's a West coast only thing. Anyone got any recommendations?

Edit: Also not in the park. Not looking for super overpriced generic food.
