CAG Gran Turismo 5 [CAG Race Night - Now Sundays at 6PM PST!]
Natty was the clear winner from Sunday's race (just the regular five races we did).

1st- Natural_Defect: 3 points
2nd- smthng: 7 points
3rd- SynGamer: 12 points
4th- Mad39er: 15 points
5th- AGENTspecial: 20 points
6th- j-cart: 22 points
7th- evilwon: 26 points
I swear I think I finished 4th in like at least 3 races, an overall 4th is very accurate.
P.S. you guys down for a Secret Santa? With the full amount of guys (bearhawk, totalmcphase, and one more i think) it would be something nice to do for sticking together for almost a year now.
I'm up for a secret santa so long as the limit is reasonable. Having raced most of you for almost every week this past year, I feel like you're my brothers from other mothers ;)
I've never really successfully completed a Secret Santa in school but it'll be worth a shot. I can think of a couple of things that are very CAGly.

If I draw smthng he's getting chrome trailer hitch nads with the left hanging lower, j-cart is getting some supple hot pink chaps, evil gets a giant monster canoli filling stuffed cinnamon donut ball and I'm still working on the rest but drawing a rather sad sarcastic blank.

Don't buy into it. He just wants the addresses so he can eliminate the competition

The GT5 DLC has been delayed, devs said that there would be a "special surprise" added for the wait, will be released on 10/25. I wonder if they're going to do a Dan Wheldon tribute?

Hi GT5ers

I haven't been able to play online much recently, but I have started to do some remote B-Spec races. If you'd like me to use your drivers make sure to friend me and make your drivers public.

Right now, jello4444, j-cart, and Mad39er are getting all the prize money! :)

Foreword: I personally own two japanese cars out of my two cars I own.

So the car pack is delayed. The.pack that only offers more Japanese cars in a game dominated by them. It's gets delayed so they offer a free Japanese car. And to celebrate GT academy, a free Japanese car.

Am I missing something? Let's get some old euro cars in there. Early BMW M cars or a 507.y Or maybe caddy CTS V or ZL1 camaro

Maybe I'm just still cranky that arkham city doesn't actually have the advertised 1080p

Online dealer flipped today... Lots of old imports and a handful of RUFs. IMO, the shining gem of the batch is the Opel Astra Team Phoenix Touring car, but it'll set you back a cool million.

Hopefully I'll come up with a race suggestion or two once the coffee kicks in.

First and only suggestion so far...

"Rockin the bus" - '62 VW Typ2 Sambabus / Tokyo Rt 246 / 3 laps / Comfort Medium

I agree. I dont know if theres an explanation for it. I assume for some brands like Ferrari and Lambo, its an issue of image. I would love to drive a Ferrari 400 of the Lambo Jalpa, but the fact that they no longer would be considered to have supercar performance may hurt their opportunity for inclusion. Youll notice the one really old Lambo is actually a prototype and thus has performance beyond that seen in the eventual street version. Then again this wouldnt really explain other brands like BMW not including their early cars though.

Personally, I am most miffed about the Caterham selection in the game.

Ok, I've been trying to avoid this, but I can't any more. Here's the list of missing stuff that irritates the snot out of me every time I pull down the list of manufacturers in my garage...

Bugatti -
Type 57 SC Atlantic - This was THE classic Bugatti
Type 73
Type 251
EB 110

Buick
'70 Gran Sport

Cadillac
CTS-V (Duh)

Caterham
Original classic 7
Roadsport
CSR

Chevy
Where the hell are the 70's Novas?
Corvair
El Camino
305 Monte Carlo

Dodge
440 Dart

Ford
How about some Crown Vics and Escorts?

MG - Seriously one of my biggest issues
Where are all the classic MG Ts and MG Bs? You snag a license for MG and you give us the F?!? phale!

Pontiac
GTO
Fiero!!!!!!

Volkswagen
Hello... where the halibut is the Scirocco?

Sorry, had to be done.

Oh yeah a MGB or MGC GT would be nice.

Olds 442 w30 and w31. Grand national GNX

Oh and that Chinese.car from the us crash certification a while back. The one Chinese company CEO said they would overtake gm and Toyota in 10 years, then in the crash test if folded like a cardboard box and was rejected for sale by the NHTSA

Yeah imagine that with the current crash models. You hit a wall head on at 150, your guy stays in his seat. (Think cart wrecks)
Olds 442 w30 and w31. Grand national GNX
I forgot about the 442, but there aren't any Olds in the game at all, so I can forgive that.

However... The '87 GNX is in the game... I haz it! :)

I can live without bikes in GT5. I can't imagine there being anything that can accurately simulate the handling and tuning of a bike and I'm perfectly happy if PD never attempted it.

It's already been attempted (and was moderately successful) ;)

Personally, I've wanted drag racing since GT2. All these cars and various tuning options and no drag strip? :(

Aw yeah, leave it stock too.

I'm with you Syn... On anything other than Indy or Daytona, I don't like the X. We can hang out in the back and have a GT race. ;)

IM cool with an X2010 race, but it would have to be on a regular surface. Nordschleiffe has too many bumps that makes the X2010 really rough. I would do any of the tracks from the challenge though. As always I am partial to Monza. High Speed Ring should work really well and Sarthe might also be pretty cool.

@ Smthng and Syn - Have you guys tried upping your controller's sensitivity? I bumped mine from 2 to 5 and it made the 2010 incredibly manageable. I went from being a 10 seconds off most of the challenge times to getting close to silver on some.

Actually, I was thinking we should have a 2-series race one of these weeks. We'd need at least 8 people, 4v4, But I'd love to see some LeMans cars and some GTs :D Of course it would be on Daytona, and I was thinking 10 laps.

I'm down with that, but I think you're going to have to be real specific about exactly what you mean by "LeMans"... The LM versions of some of the cars are significantly different than the regulars. The GT is probably the best example... There is the LM, the LM II and the standards. The standard is the fastest by far. Then there are the the others that aren't technically "LM" cars, but they do say in the description that they are. I remember this being a fairly big issue when mad tried to set up LM races.

I've never driven the x2010 yet. Anyone driven it with a lot of the assists on? Does it help(not.at home right now or I'd try now)? I'm fine with just using it on an oval track

Ive run it with everything from 1 to 5 to the TC and it doesnt make a huge difference. As I mentioned before, definitely raise the sensitivity. You don't really need anything else as the car will stick if its on a level surface. If you crash, its usually a complete loss of control, as things happen very fast in the car. This means that things like SRF and ASM don't get a chance to take much effect.

The key to the X2010 is that it is an active downforce like the Chapparal. This means you actually don't want to ride curbs to get fast times like you do in most cars. When you put it up on a curb, it breaks the airflow and unsettles the car. This is what would make Nordschleiffe so rough, it has tons of uneven pavement even on the track. A good example of the contrast is the Schumacher S during the X2010 challenge compared to the way you take it during the license test.

On another note, I have work starting at 7PM tomorrow, so I may have time for one race if any at all.

The X2010 is way to crazy to drive. Think an F1 car with even more downforce and better braking. Put simply, none of us will be able to drive the car to its full capacity. I'm on a racing wheel and it is just too ridiculous to drive with it.

I'm down for some 10 lap races. Gives me time to think about life when I'm alone in the back of the pack.

I hate to go off topic, but how close are we to a race list for tonight? :p

Syn, no need to stress over it. If we don't have any others decided on by lunchish, I'll toss up some. I kind of want to try variations on two we did last week... Those were some great races.

I'm open to suggestions. I know you posted some earlier in the week. I put in some OT this week so I've been a bit lazy. I shall leave the task up to you :)

Since nobody has posted this... Nissan GT500 GTR on Tokyo. Seems like a no brainer. Maxed out, racing soft of course. We all should have one.

I'd personally like another rematch of the Minis on Madrid now that I know somewhat what I'm doing with this Mini but anything really works, Mt Aso should be fine. 460PP.

475PP No race mods/race cars, Racing Soft. No engines tuned below 75% output.

575PP on Clubman Special. No race mods, race cars. Racing Soft.
Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of Madrid only because it's mostly straights. I'll race whatever though :)
My Madrid thing is just that, I'm more than alright, we can revisit Madrid like 5-7 races from now.

Here is what has been proposed over the last week:

"Rockin the bus" - '62 VW Typ2 Sambabus(stock) / Tokyo Rt 246 / 3 laps / Comfort Medium

x2010/Nurburgring, Indy, Daytona, Monza

LeMans vs GT's

Nissan GT500 GTR on Tokyo, maxed out. I say change the number on the car so we can tell who is who.

475pp Normal cars, no engine detuning past 75%

575pp/ Normal cars/ Clubman

Mini's

I'd like to throw in dirty NASCAR, 10-15 laps on Indy, boost high

Racing line-up for tonight:

460PP Mini's w/Sports Soft on Madrid Mini Reverse - 5 laps
475PP ANYTHING w/Racing Soft on Rome - 4 laps (No race mods/race cars, no engines tuned below 75% output)
Stock Nissan GT500 GTR on Tokyo Route 246 - 4 laps
575PP ANYTHING w/Racing Soft on Clubman Special - 5 laps
NASCAR w/Racing Soft on Indy - 10 laps (DIRTY/Anything goes, Boost on High)

OPTIONAL: Stock Formula Gran Turismo w/Racing Soft on Indy - 10 laps (Tribute race for Dan Wheldon)

*Note: not sure if everyone has the Formula Gran Turismo but it's in the OD and you can get 5m credits from that X2010 race.

I'm up for saving the "Rockin the bus" - '62 VW Typ2 Sambabus(stock) / Tokyo Rt 246 / 3 laps / Comfort Medium race for next week, I'm also hoping we can have Spa next week as well, perhaps Le Mans vs GTs?

Sorry I didn't post up earlier... expected to have a connection and didn't.

I'm proposing the following lineup:

"Rockin the bus" - '62 VW Typ2 Sambabus(stock) / Tokyo Rt 246 / 3 laps / Comfort Medium - Bone stock this time.
Nissan GT500 GTR on Tokyo R246 / Racing soft / 4 laps / no PP limit
475PP Anything that's not a racer (if it has sponsor emblems, it probably will get booted), no power limiting more than 75% / Trial Mountain / 3 laps
575PP No racers / Clubman SS / 4 laps

Let's make those the "officials" tonight, and pick one of the others (or even two) if people want to stick around. The others open up too much for what's legal and not, we can "define" them a bit better first, I think.

I've probably already tuned the GTR and Formula... can someone give me stock PP for those two so I know what to take off?

Pretty sure the x2010 event is closed.
I've probably already tuned the GTR and Formula... can someone give me stock PP for those two so I know what to take off?
There isn't much you can tune(that changes the PP)on the FGT except downforce

GT-R is 616 stock(the stealth model)

I am number 72 for reference

My FGT is 904PP(downforce maxed). The one in the OD is 895PP

Sorry guys, I had a tab open for like half an hour compiling the line-up. As I said, we can definitely use the bus race for next week. And again, the FGT race is optional.

NP. Apologies for not getting online earlier to call it. Sundays are generally pretty whack for me... sometimes plans work, sometimes they don't. :S

I really dislike what the race mods and race cars do when entered into a non-competition spec race. That is my stance on it without getting ranty. They're in their own class often with weights lower than what you can get with regular full weight mods and extensive aero tuning options. Long and short, once they get up to speed they're more capable than any non-race spec'd car in cornering.
