CAG GTAIV Night: Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel[ 9/2 @ 10pm EST ]

Yes! Those Cops and Crooks games were pretty epic indeed. It was so much fun, and I was finally able to hear you guys after like, what, a month without a headset?
This new headset is SOOO clear, and convient as well. When I started playing with you guys, my headsets battery was pretty low, and then it died a few games in. Luckily, I remembered that the headset would still work if I kept it in it's charging cradle. That's exactly what it did for the rest of the night. ;)
All in all... Good games y'all! :D
Great games tonight, especially some of those epic Cops & Crooks chases. 3v3v3 TDM was fun, too. And... pretty much everyone was using a headset! I almost cried.
 I'll never buy a headset, maybe trade for one, but NOT buy cause even a $20 one is 2-4 clearance games. ;)

CheapestGamer, I'd check woot.com, they just had a bluetooth headset for like $10 shipped the other day. Granted it's not the best, but just for gaming it'll suffice.

Freakyzeeky, you wore the headset with the charging cradle on? Isn't that thing kinda big? :p

Good games last night, those C&C games were indeed epic and the 3 way Team DM was awesome. Maybe 3 way Turf War if we get a decent turnout next time?

:whistle2:?:whistle2:k:nottalking::speaktothehand:

No, the charging cradle was on the coffee table in front of me. And the headset was charging in the cradle and working at the same time.

That was probably the best turnout we've had in a LONG while, which is why I stuck around last night. Normally, it's been 2-3 CAG's versus one another, but last night was fun as hell.

Of course, I also had my friends I normally play against sending me invites every other game up until about 11:45. It always happens.

We should try that on Happiness Island, since that way there's nowhere for anyone to run to or as I do, grab a car and run people over.

Of course, it also hurts my chances of bringing a vehicle into the mix that we always seem to play for 10 minutes at a clip only and it takes at LEAST 3-4 to get from whichever corner of the city to where the Annihilators are to grab one of those.

Cool news, although it's probably too much to hope that they squeeze a mic fix into the patch. :bomb:

I looked at a list of the trophies and I can see myself getting about eight, since I don't play the single player anymore. Also I wonder what this one is for:

* Taking A Liberty (Bronze Trophy) Sorry for taking liberties with your time.

I wish they would somehow figure a way to squeeze fully destructible enviros, parachutes and planes into the damn patch. Trophies mean squat to me still. But it's a nice addition for those who do care about them to have, I suppose.

What is the point of having the games, if they are (usually) not all that good... You be better off with the headset which would benefit most if not all of your online games.;)

Because I'd rather have the 2-4 clearance games than waste money on something I doubt I'll be using otherwise? I mean, if I see that Little Big Planet's online co-op required levels are damn near impossible without a headset to communicate, then I might consider one.

If it's just for this ONE game though, fuck that, I'd rather have the money. Now, if Blockbuster actually sold headsets, I could use some of my $35 or so in remaining credit to get one uber cheap, but otherwise.....it's a waste to me.

By the way, if anyone is up for a couple games tonight(since Sunday was our usual night before)and you guys have me as a friend on PSN, shoot me a message since I'm going on in a bit to goof around in Free Mode.

I was trying to decide if I wanted to start over and get the trophies. I've put in 11 hours into the story mode. I'm leaning against starting over, but I'm not 100% convinced yet.

11 hours got me about 25% done. I'd have to give that all up to get the trophies as I know I'd probably never go back and do it again. So on the other hand it would be now or never :)

Hmmmm, decisions, decisions . . .

I'm actually debating a headset today, there's one from Datel for $19.99 on sale this week at CC. Although, I may opt to just go to Gamestop and get a Logitech one since they have one for $19.99, since I trust Logitech stuff more than I do Datel.

I'm also hoping that if I do get the Datel headset from CC, that they also have Little Big Planet, which is my MAIN reason for going there today.

If this is the Datel headset that you're considering I would suggest going with the Logitech. I bought a pair of them (one for me, one for my brother) from Stootsi a few months ago and neither of us use them anymore. The sound is tinny, the cable is way too short, and they pick up a lot of background/ambient noise. In addition, the headset doesn't have a direct USB connection: the cable ends in a headphone plug that you have to connect to an (included) USB adapter.

We're both using this headset now and it's a vastly superior product. I still had to get a USB extension cable to be able to use them while sitting on my couch, though.

The headset you directed me to looks exactly like the one pictured on Gamestop's website for $19.99.

I think I'll give them a call in a bit to see if they got in extra copies of Little Big Planet and if they did, I'll pick up that and the headset there later today.

Uh, this may sound like a sill question, but how do I start over in GTA IV like if I wanted to get the trophies or something?

Do I just delete my game save through the XMB?

you don't have to delete your current game save at all. you can pause the game and under one of the options is "new game" that way you can start from the beginning and just save the new one in a different slot from your old progress.

Remember, GTA night tonight at the usual time. Bring your headsets! I played for about an hour and a half the other night with no problems, so we should be good.

Also just wanted to add that you can gain the multiplayer-specific trophies without starting a new save. I can't guarantee people will make it easy for you to get those multiplayer victor trophies, but you can still try!

I picked up some Rockstar one as one of my first trophies the other night in multi against some buddies of mine. I also picked up Team Player and a few others. I still say trophies are meh, but for those who like 'em and will go all out to get them all, more power to them.

I'll be on tonight.

In the interest of honoring Halloween I will be resurrecting my zombie-in-a-banana-hammock character model.

We should play some all-shotgun TDM in the graveyard!

Unless I can figure out why the hell my PS3's WiFi light isn't going on when I'm trying to connect to PSN, I may not be getting on for the games tonight, since I don't feel like lugging my PS3 downstairs. Plus, it's uber dusty down here and I only subject my PC to this level of port clogging particulate matter.

On the plus side though, the power outages that were happening thanks to that lovely rain/snow storm that blew through the northeast yesterday have stopped. Although that may have been the cause of my PS3's WiFi woes since it was in standby when the power went off and came back on 2-4 times within 2 hours.:bomb:

Suffice to say though, if the WiFi is gone in a less than 8 month old console, I'm going to be slightly pissed. Then again, I've been playing this thing online for 6 hours at a shot some nights, so I may have worn out the card.

Where in the northeast are you? I heard reports of snowfall just north of me yesterday.

Probably won't be able to make it tonight. Sorry, you guys are going to have to find someone else to block traffic during your races. ;)
Where in the northeast are you? I heard reports of snowfall just north of me yesterday.
I'm in Scranton and it snowed in the Poconos(naturally), but all we got here was rain and wind(LOTS of wind).

Ah...small world! I travel to Scranton, Moosic, and Wilkes-Barre for work 2-3 times a month.

My crew in Moosic said they were getting snow and freezing rain yesterday...good times.

Hey y'all. It looks like I won't be able to attend any CAG nights for a few days... I'm going to Los Angeles for a few days starting today. I'll be back to play with you guys maybe by the next GTA night... sucks because I really wanted to get my trophy count up with you guys. :\

:shock::???::whistle2:#:cry:
But...but you'll be back by Saturday night... right...

;)
Have fun.

Hahaha... Did you immediately try to finagle your way into a Legoland trip after SoCal mentioned it last week?

Sorry that you can't go, but I'm glad to hear you'll be around for GTA zombie night.

It's definitely not mandatory, but I liked the idea of zombie shotguns in the graveyard.

Also not required: constantly making zombie groans over the mic.

LOL, she wasn't actually going to Legoland.
She just wanted to spend the week at my cousin's house, since my dad is coming back from Mexico, and she was going to drive him back home. She just asked me to come along so she wouldn't go alone, so I was going to go with her, until I found out I didn't have to because one of her friends asked if she could tag along, so they can do some shopping together at the Ontario Mills mall (I've been there years ago... That mall is ridiculously ginormous  ). Her friend lives in San Jose. I think they'll be fine... It isn't her first road trip to L.A. :)

BTW, everyone automatically gets a zombie skin online?... Because if so, that is freakin' awesome. :D

There's a CAG around by me(Milford) who goes up around your way for work(and hits a good amount of the stores up that way too). It's been easily two years since I was up into Poughkeepsie myself, mainly because of how high gas prices got. I used to hit Newburgh, Middletown and Poughkeepsie whenever I went up to the auto auction in Newburgh with my one relative to retrieve cars.

You ever go to The Dragon's Den(I think it was called)? It was a nice little game shop up in Poughkeepsie area. They had guides going back to the Genesis(at least) the last time I was there, but my friend told me they dumped them all in the dumpster a while back.

EDIT: I fixed my WiFi problems from this morning(forgot to power cycle my PS3 after resetting my router), as I was able to finish DLing the patch for LBP and play the first couple levels(but the servers are down again I think), so I SHOULD be on for 9 pm to get in on CAG GTA night again. I'm still debating if I'm going to try out this mic I picked up on Monday though, since I don't see myself being a big talker on the games otherwise.
BTW, everyone automatically gets a zombie skin online?... Because if so, that is freakin' awesome. :D
It's an alternate option if you press L1 or something on the character model screen. I think you get it by being killed by/killing a player who has it. Not sure how the first people got it, though.

It's funny because there was some murmur going around the Internet recently about a zombie invasion in GTA4 for Halloween. I was like, dude... that happened the week the game came out.

I could definitely see myself playing a zombie mode in Free Mode for a while, especially if they put in an accurate animation for typical zombie behaviors(brain eating, shuffling along).

Mind you, I was also still hoping one of the updates that Rockstar was putting out would re activate a dormant bit of code for destructible enviros, planes and parachutes. With all of the high buildings in LC, to NOT have a parachute was ridiculous. I loved flying all around San Andreas with the jetliner, but I hated the full wing Dodo, since I would always misjudge when doing a loop the loop and end up nose first into the ground at the end of one.

Biggest GTA night ever! Also the giant-sized Cops & Crooks was like an epiphany. It's going to change the way I see the whole world.

Unless I missed it, I don't recall ever making it to the cemetery for a unified zombie uprising. ;)

CAG GTA night is always a good time, though. Thanks to all who played!

Yup, that's what it's called. I pop in there from time-to-time but the customer service isn't what I'd called friendly or welcoming. I'd love to patronize a mom-and-pop game shop more often but I hate giving my money to douchebags.

We should do an unofficial NEPA CAG meetup one night when I'm out your way...grab some dinner or something.

Good games sorry I had to go early I did pretty well for not playing for a few weeks. Owned with the Shotty, tore up a race, and had fun with the rocket launchers
