CAG GTAIV Night: Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel[ 9/2 @ 10pm EST ]

I've never participated in a CAG night. Is it just one hour? Is there anything to it more than someone hosting at the designated time? Is there a sign-up?

Usually an hour or 2, depends. Mostly until there's only a few peeps left.

It's usually someone hosting at a designated time.

Sign-up, not to sure yet. In COD4 and Burnout it was basically friends list invite so, there was kind of a signup so people would be able to join. In sometime like Warhawk it was server based so we'd pick a server and post the server name and time down. We'll see when it launches.

My feeling is it will be like Ridge Racer 7 and most PSN games, where you use the XMB itself to send invites to people on your friends list, recent players, or manually enter a name, to join a room.

I'm not sure about that, I have a feeling it'll be like Burnout Paradise since the MP is initiated within the game via Niko's cell phone.

yeah, from what I read on the multiplayer previews, they said that the multiplayer was accessed by Niko's cell phone, so I assumed it would be like burnout...

Change the parenthesis in the title to brackets, or face the consequences of getting GTAIV night de-listed from the CAG Gaming Group. I just gotta keep all CAG Gaming Night threads consistent with each other since I'm an orderly freak. ;)

I'm down for some GTA madness, but the later the better for me since I'm in the west coast. Around 10pm est would work.

Does Circuit City have the best deal for this game on release? Or can I get this game for cheaper from somewhere else? ;)

I'm down for some GTA multiplayer, it'll be interesting to see how it is. :twoguns:

What's the Circuit City deal?

OK, if you're going to play GTA4 online regularly then step up and donate your PSN name to the list.

I figured I'd update the OP with people who are going to be on reguarly that way if people want in on the action and need to add someone to their list to join in the fun the can look up the regulars in the OP and hook up.

This game has the potential to be bigger than the max 16 player limit in the game so it could be we have to split into groups on the official night.

Any ideas?
How do you add your name to the list?
Post here so we know who has the game, then if you need to be on someone's PSN friend list to take part in GTA4 Night, then we can send out invites via that so you can join.

Ya, what list?

THE List.

Also, this game is so epic, I think we need some sort of subtitle for GTA4 CAG Nights. I just don't have any ideas.

I probably won't be doing online right away since I want some time to learn the city, but definitely put me down. It sounds like the multiplayer is pretty easy to jump into from the main game, so it would be cool if I were just driving around and causing havoc already and somebody wanted to join in.

I'm up for some multiplayer, so add me to the list... :) Hopefully I'll get the game this week.
But now something has me worried. I was readng on Kotaku that Sony/Gamespy has refused to comment on PSN online play for GTA IV.. in the comments on the post some people speculated that it's because the PS3 version does not have voice chat (because other Gamespy enabled PS3 games do not have voice chat).
I really hope this is not the case as such a major release needs to have voice chat for multiplayer...

I'm definitely looking forward to this.I'll have the Game on the day of release, so if people are being updated to a List of some sort, feel free to Include my name there.

No voice chat=Me uber-pissed!! Never even thought about that. I think for such a large game Sony should have stepped up and offered some servers, maybe in exchange for some dlc?

OK I got an email from Gamefly.. Looks like they shipped GTA IV today.. hopefully it will get here tomorrow or Wednesday..
Anyway, yeah I'm curious about the voice chat as well.. I guess I'll find out in a few days :)
Halfway done installing now!!! I will report back in a few to let everyone know the voice chat verdict
doesnt it say on the back of the box?

According to Kotaku, Rockstar confirmed voice chat on the PS3. The thing I'm really, really hoping for is the return of dual-analog helicopter controls from Vice City. I was a helicopter maniac in that game and was so sad when they changed the control setup for San Andreas.

I'm tempted to run out to one of those midnight launches to see if I can get a copy, but I've got work tomorrow. Rrhh. I'll try to grab one at lunch instead.

I won't be getting mine from a while since I got it from Amazon, but can someone please add me to the PS3 list??

The name is gongon78!! Thanks!!

I need to play GTAIV... I can't wait any longer! The anticipation is killing me! :bomb:

It's like that one Simpsons episode of when Barney Gumble is the designated driver and he can't drink, but the temptation is killing him inside. It's similar to that!
LOL! The epic gaming made me totally forget!! Game is the shiznit and has great VOIP!!! PS3 CAGs be relieved
I will second this to the 10th power! Smiggity and I stayed up to at least 4am playing multiplayer with out too many problems at all. There were a couple of network errors literally maybe two, where we were disconnected, but after signing in were able to meet back up with out an issue and kept most our party together in the lobby while we waited to get everyone back together to jump into a game.

I have not had that much fun in a game in a long time. The online element of this game is amazing compared to everything else out there. The way it comes together is quite a feat.

There were some very awesome, funny moments just in multiplayer. I can't wait to see what the single player has in store.

I'm getting my copy tonight. Unfortunately, I'm out of town for work next week so I won't get too much time in, but go ahead and add me to the list.
So anymore concrete details on MP? Like how it's setup etc.

We good for a CAG night on Sunday @ 9pm EST?
I had sooo much fun last night just messing around with Ghost..Everything is done through the cell phone in game. SB check our GS thread for better details.

Yeah I heard the multiplayer is easy to join just like Burnout Paradise. Anyway I should get my copy from GameFly tomorrow..
