I'm posting here since mobile PMs are difficult, but I play the 49ers this week. I'm gonna be out tonight, but tomorrow between 12-4 would be good. Late tonight may be possible.
I can prob play tomorrow around noon EST.
Based on what?
Probably just basing it on an assumption that we were using the official NFL trading deadline.
I'm done with Madden. Sorry, but this game frustrates me more than any other.
I hope that was just a fit of rage (we have all been there) and not something you are actually doing. We got a good league going, what is the problem?
There's definitely a point with this game where things start to click. It just takes a TREMENDOUS amount of time to get there. I've played almost 100 ranked games and I still get absolutely dominated by certain players. Without question, there are certain plays that just work better than others. I've just now begun to stumble onto some plays that give me some semblance of a running game.
Please share.
My running game has turned to shit lately. Thankfully, I am improving my passing a little bit to compensate.
Same thing on defense. Some Cover 2's don't work worth shit for covering the middle of the field (even though the play art shows that as being their main purpose). Your players will just stand there and let receivers zig zag right in front of them. Other times, you can call man defense and they'll leap infront of guys and snatch the ball away. Almost every game feels like a challenge to find out which type of plays will work for that particular game. Yeah, some of it has to do with your opponent's play style. But I've had plenty of games where I'm calling the right plays to deal with how my opponent is playing, and they just don't work. You have to keep constantly adjusting.
Too true. The Cover 2 can be rewarding at times when the players run it properly and infuriating when they do not. I guess it is a decent simulator for how coaches must feel when talented players are out of position or do not follow the schemes properly.
That's another thing that is critical: adjusting at the line. A lot of times in this game, even if you stack 8 in the box, if your opponent runs a toss to the outside, he will beat everybody to the sideline and your DBs will most likely get chop blocked/shoved in the back (neither of which is ever a penalty) and taken out of the play. If you're not shifting your d-line and calling a blitz to the side you think the run is going to, you're most likely giving up 20+ yards. This works too often because of the speed boost ball carriers get when they get to the outside. I think it's the main reason the rushing numbers are so high this year. Some people can routinely gain 300 yards a game with speed backs because they know the right plays to call to get them to the outside. If you're not calling blitzes and shifting your line on these people, you're screwed.

I definitely do not have the play experience as a lot of you (my only online Madden experience *ever* has really come from this league this year), but I am finding that I cannot blitz if I am facing speed backs and an outside running game while controlling LBs/S to push the defense in the direction the line goes to create holes after the snap. I do not really make any presnap adjustments and just try to read the play as it starts to appear after the snap. I don't know if I just got lucky a few times or not is the problem.
I should try playing a few games online outside the league and see how different things are. I am just afraid of matching up against people that don't care about playing a game of football and just want to try ridiculous shit to win and rage quit when/if it doesn't work.
