So when is the new deadline?
Yeah, sorry. As I was updating last night/this morning/whatever you want to call it (I haven't been to sleep yet, lol), the baby got extremely fussy and wasn't happy unless she was being rocked all night. Everything is updated now. Deadline for week 9 is 1/5. That gives 4 nights to get games played.
As you know Yanks, but no one else does, I was down to Yanks 4+ scores, I wasnt coming back, and didnt care to "try new things". I did something that no NFL coach would do, but I felt was expedient in the course of the game: Starting in the 4th quarter, I took a knee. Yanks understood what was happening. He didnt use his timeouts, he didnt try and pause the game to "punish" me for being boring. When he got the ball back, he didnt call plays to advance the ball (he was running all over me that game), he too took a knee.
I saw it as I'm having a terrible game and just want it over. Yanks was a gentleman about it. Had he called timeouts to run up stats/"work on his game", I'd have probably rage quit and gone back to playing with my kids.
So while this is a "learning" league, sometimes I'm just not up for a "lesson". If the game is decided, just let it end. In the words of Stan Lee " 'Nuff said."
While taking a knee could REALLY be considered giving up, the point holds true that the winning team's focus should always be ending the game as quickly as possible. It's the same reason that I think it's moronic that online ranked has an option to decline your opponent's offer to concede the game. If someone is willing to take a loss, and acknowledging that you've bested them, it should be automatic. No one should have the option of refusing just so they can rub your nose in it a little more.
Your game was probably a bit of an extreme case, but it's really nice to hear that it was handled respectfully. Believe me, I wish the rules in the OP only needed to say "always respect your opponent". But what that means to different people and what people can convince themselves is "ok" can be mind blowing. It's great to hear about stuff like this though. This is how you win with some class.
