CAG League Sports: Madden 12 "JV League" - We Finished 3 Seasons! Thanks Everybody!!!

In my opinion, Og whitewidow is too good for this league. He's 6-8 in the official league and most of his losses are by less than 10 points. He's on the verge of competing and making the playoffs there.

I DO NOT want people coming over here so they can dominate because they're "not quite" good enough to win the Super Bowl in the other league. I've said this a million times, but that's not what this league is about. You're also not endearing yourself coming in asking a million questions and not bothering to take the time to read up on this league at all. Just my two cents.
 
Ugh...after only getting 4 hours of sleep the night before, all my 3 cups of coffee managed to do for me yesterday was upset my stomach. I still passed out by 10 PM. As you all can see, the league hasn't been advanced yet. It looks like the Packers/Chargers game got played, but nothing else. Are these other games worth waiting on or not? I'm fine with advancing tonight if there's actual plans to get these remaining games played (Dolphins/Chiefs, Giants/Patriots). If not, we might as well sim and move on. What's the word?

I rejoined as the Pats but I posted about my confusion with the giants a few posts up. Do they have an owner?

Also - coffee doing harm? I don't believe it! :p

You're the commish and have more experience with this sort of thing than I. If that is how you feel, then I am fine with it.

They do, but the owner is having some issues getting his games played currently (though intends on remaining in the league, so it just seems like a temp situation). If the Giants are free to take right now, I can sub this morning sometime if needed since we don't know if the owner will be around today.

They do. It is silversnake5 (and yeah, his gamertag is Symb1oteSpider). He's just missed his last game or two and is trying to get back into the swing of things as you are. If you guys can get the game set up today, that's fine. I think the Dolphins/Chiefs talked about playing tonight, so if we're waiting so 2 games don't have to be simmed, I'll live with it. Considering we've got new owners/people returning trying to settle in, an extra day wouldn't kill us.

Haha, yeah. I felt like I had a coffee hangover, lol.

Thats up to the commish but I will be around all day today to get my game in. I am not sure how likely it is that the owner will be on since I just came back today.

Blade (Dolphins) sent me a message yesterday saying that he would hit me back with a time to play. But we never figured it out. I don't mind KC getting simmed, but I'll see if we can figure it out today.

Patriots - 3

Game was close right to the end, with the Giants up 7-0 until mid 4th. Both offenses had a costly fumble early on, but no more turnovers after that in a rainy, slow tempo game. Pats D really showed up to stuff any semblance of a running game for the Giants and did not allow any big gains in the passing game.

Good game Superstar, you really kicked my ass towards the end of the first half with those three consecutive sacks. :D

Widdow is a good friend of mine, I got him into the regular league and the short lived but ever so fun "Fantasy League". The guy is a Gamer, he plays a lot of Madden, like me (probably too much).

I'm not familiar with everyone in this league but I have to think you guys don't give yourselves enough credit for your skills. The people that are in this league that I have played have all been difficult opponents.

Me and Widdow have very different skills in the game, but I would definately put us on the same par.

He isn't trying to win an "easy Super Bowl", he just wants tp play more Madden, specifically league games.

If you guys accepted me, I would reccomend him as a very similiar player. Someone who is going to compete, is very active at subbing, and plays his games on time.

As far as the asking questions when he should have just looked it up, not his strongest suit, but the OP isn't entirely clear on everthing, espescially on what teams are open.

Good game man! Your D just wouldn't let me stick it in the endzone. My game plan was to focus on your run game, but I forgot to mix it up with runs myself, haha.
 
i'm not trying to hop over and dominate, im just trying to get better my friend, ill take the colts, or the worst team available, my main goal is to play more organized games such as these cag leagues provide.

I am definitely JV if that is what you wanted to hear...sucks to admit it, and sorry if i didn't read up on the league enough i have been battling an illness the last 3 days or so...DVO told me that there are vacancies in this league, and i am interested, if you don't want me that is cool.

Why is Matt Young in this league then? He's 9-4 in the official league and on the verge of a playoff spot.

Absolutely, LV Patriots and I possess the exact same skill set in my opinion...it is literally a coin flip when we play, i have never played anyone that matches up like we do.

It's hard to judge someone's skill fairly when they exclusively use the best team in the game.
 
I could literally care less about what team i play with, the only thing that interests me are playing organized games and not randoms online.
 
i have to back up white widow on this one i looked at who he won against in the offical league and two were against me in very very close games that leaves him with four other wins where he didnt beat anyone in that league that was 2 two amazing i think he belongs here as well although og does use the worst team in the nfl we all know for a fact that in the game u can still use manning which manning playing if a total game changer for the colts with him there amazing without well we all know there record in real life

My 1-2 record (not counting sim loss) and my passing stats with the Steelers in this league show that I am mediocre at the very best with any team other than the Packers. But also for the record, Nate, GB has been my favorite team since long before CAG existed and I use them for that reason, not because they're the best team in this year's game.

Either way, I joined this league to play with more of my friends. I was turned down when I first asked, then I was asked to take over Pittsburgh after the previous owner, along with others, left.
 
Blade said on Wednesday that he would hit me up yesterday for a game time. I didn't hear from him though.

Sent him a PM a little while ago, if the Chiefs don't play by midnight PST tonight, I'm all for simming it.

Obviously, I know this. But it's also a fortunate coincidence when your favorite team is the top rated team in the game with a 95 overall. Whenever I play online ranked and someone uses the Packers, I just think "Ok, your only chance to win is by using the best team in the game? How good are you really?" That's all I meant by it. Yes, they're your favorite team. But it's a bigger challenge playing as someone other than the best team in the game.

Anyway, I guess I'm outvoted on the whitewidow issue. I'll just say if I start routinely getting my ass kicked after all the time I've put into this game, my wrath will be that of a scorned god, lol. I'm not going to sit and watch this league become no different than the other one. If we're consistently seeing the lower level teams getting blown out, then this league is serving no purpose.

Me and Widdow consider one another very equal in this game. Dozens of hours of Madden games support that conclusion. And I have lost to Tanabeo, DVO, Lyric, Whoever has the Packers, and probably more in this league (I also saw that DVO said he beat Widow twice). So until Widdow puts up 56-0 games (which I highly doubt). I don't think you guys will find much issue with team dominance with me and him joining.

Any idea what team(s) he is getting yet?
 
It is a weird situation ... I definitely could not hang in the other league, but I only have one loss here. (Fortunately, it was against n8!)

I suppose we need every new player to understand that the objective for this league isn't only to compete but also to allow us JV folks a chance to play online without getting blown out. Honestly, if Doom came in here, I would think we'd be terribly boring for him.

I say let's give Widdow a shot ...
 
He requested the Ravens. So, Yanksfan will have to leave them so whitewidow can join.

Also, the league will be advancing tonight before I go to bed. I can't say for certain what time that will be, but I'm running on about 4 hours sleep, so it will most definitely be before midnight PST.

I know you saidWiddow wanted the Ravens. but I don't think he is aware of the 2 team thing you guys have going on. You might want to fill him in on how that works and see if he will pick up 2 teams, instead of stealing one somebody already plays for.

I tried to explain that stuff to him, but I didn't know enough about the AFC 1st team/NFC 2nd team stuff to say anything of worth.

Does anyone read the rules? How many times were you told to read the OP? Dude QB sneaks on the 1 to tie the game.

Chiefs- 24
Dolphins- 21

As of this, and playing a shitty team, I am done playing a secondary team. I will not mind subbing from time to time. I will continue to play my primary where I can make them a better team.
 
Well, there's technically no rule against QB sneaks because since the patch, it's not a guaranteed 7 yard run anymore. And it CAN be stopped on occasion. However, I personally consider it a gutless play. Between running a FB dive, an outside pitch, or even a pass play, to me there's plenty of options to score without resorting to a "gimme play" like that. I guess that's where I stand on it now. It's not glitchy anymore, but when I see it I'm like "Really guy? You needed that?"

If the majority of the league feels it needs to be banned though, we can explore it. But since it isn't glitchy and it IS a play used in the NFL from time to time, you'd have to have a pretty compelling argument. I don't use it, but it's more because I don't want to be viewed as "being a bitch" and I like to think I'm more creative than that.
 
We can advance. Give me a couple minutes and I'll get on and move us forward.

And actually, if whitewidow wanted, he could take the Redskins as his secondary team. That would put us back to capacity, and they would be the right fit to go along with his Ravens.
 
All right. We have advanced to Week 10! Everyone is back from the holidays and all teams are full now, so this is going to be a hard 4 day deadline. Any game not played by 11:59 PM CST on 1/10 will be simmed. I'd be even happier if we could advance early though! ;)
 
I did not know it had been fixed. However, on 3rd and 1, and still plenty of time I thought it was kinda cheap. I am still dropping the Dolphins, if I could try to build them up I might not mind playing them. Also, would you mind up dating the stats on that league site? I like looking through everything.
 
The Dolphins are a tough team to play with that is for sure, lots of practice mode is definitely recommended to get used to a team like them.

I think you already made my case for why it shouldn't be used. It may not be as broken as it was, but it still is what I consider to be a 'cheap' play. The fact that it would make you or me feel like a bitch for running it just speaks to it. If others feel that way, then I think the case has been made for banning it justifiably.

I do not use the QB Sneak personally -- but only because I like other plays better in tht situation. For whatever reason, the sneak doesn't seem to work well for me.

However, I guess I am in the minority in that I don't see anything wrong with calling it. They use it in the NFL frequently in those situations, so I consider it legit ...

I think I will chime in also, although I know I am a newer player. In my personal play style I only use it on VERY crucial 4th and 1 or 3 and 1s. I think that it is possible to counter, and not much more overpowered then say a HB dive. I don't think it is necessary to ban it, but I do think it is unsportsmanlike to use it every 1or2yrd needed play. As long as people aren't abusing it, I think it should stay.

Yea, I am aware they use in the NFL, and the play itself is a legit one..however, just because it is used in the NFL does not mean that it is programmed to be the same in Madden. I have always felt that the line blocks too well and the QB gets a guaranteed 2-3 yard gain every time. Every time I have called it with a D using a goal line stance and blitzing every defender to hit the interior line holes, I have still gotten a TD. Using a HB ISO, Sting or Dive results in a lot of stuffs against the same defensive call. The defense just doesn't have enough time to react and hit those holes to realistically stop it.

That could just be me and my experience, and perhaps I just have not been exposed to a better player that can stop it. But this isn't an elite league either.

Edit - I just want to toss this out too. While I won't personally use the play, I won't get upset and leave the league or anything because of it. It is not a deal breaker sort of thing, I was just tossing out my opinion/experience with it.
 
Alright I have PMed Tanabeo about our game asking when he can play.

Is he still around, I ask because he is still listed in the OP but not on Madden.
