CAG MLB 10: The Show League Fantasy Teams! MIL/PHI/SD open! Series 6 Games Due 9/6!

I'm sick of this. I'm not quitting, and I'm sure as hell not blaming Nate. But in the past 2 weeks at least, not one single person has contacted me about playing save for (A) steggy, who made a mistake since I wasn't on his schedule, and (B) ajumbaje, who messaged me today. Does no one else want to try? I've posted stating my desire to play at least a half dozen times.
 
lol, im not even in this league... but I hear ya Matt. Friended everyone in the league and only 3 people accepted... people either 1 didnt acknowledge it, or 2 never really signed online.
 
Most guys accepted my friend requests, and others played at the beginning... but that's it.

I'm hoping ajumbaje and I can play soon. I couldn't play earlier when he messaged me. Right now, he's offline, and I honestly don't want to play anything right now as is. But hopefully we can match up soon.

Yeah, I hear you, Matt. But what can I say? It's an online league. You act like this is your first rodeo, lol. It baffles me and I will never understand it, but some people just sign up for stuff without having any real motivation to participate. The most I can do is just start setting the deadlines, reward people who are active, and keep trying to move the league forward.

And like I've said, simming games and dropping people really shouldn't be necessary this soon into the league, but because of how limited the schedule is, it's forcing my hand. Series 2 games are due by Tuesday. I don't know how else to motivate people other than with the possibility of taking a loss and/or being kicked out of the league.

Honestly, that's why CAGFC is probably my favorite thing I've ever done on here because for the most part, people aren't deeply committed to anything long term. If you don't contact your opponent for your weekly fight, you lose. If you blow off a couple fights in a row, you don't get any more fights. It's such a painless system. I'm counting the days till UFC comes out.
 
Destro - if you got your tv replaced/fixed we need to play our series 2 game. I could probably play tonight or tomorrow most any time after 3pm EST.

Our best bet is sunday night after 9 pm est at the earliest, unless you want to do something at like 11 or 12 tonight

I'll try playing another game, if it doesn't count I might just drop... I don't think it is very fair for other people in the league to be forced to play an additional game or two and not get any wins from it, etc.

Josh, you around here, man? I haven't seen you post a lot lately, in here or in your league. You're my Series 2 opponent, so it would be really lame if the two commissioners can't get their game played. Having said that, I'll be watching UFC 113 tonight from about 10 PM to 12:30 AM. I could probably play after that though. Or anytime tomorrow. Just let me know when you're available.

Well, after a short hiatus, I'm back in the game. Finally was able to pick up a Slim. No thanks go out to Sony for making the 60GB so durable. I got a whole 2 years (roughly) out of it.

Whoever's my series 2 opponent (I'm the Pirates), let me know when you wanna play. If anyone else wants to get a game in, let me know too.

Edit: Nevermind, I actually played my series 2 opponent already.

I sent SnorE a PM and PSN message 5 hours ago seeing when he would be able to play our league game for series 2. Also sent him a new PSN message about 10 minutes ago after seeing that he's currently online. Haven't heard back from him yet.

Nope. Not good news. Check the league webpage. This is the only place that standings have ever been accurate. The in-game standings routinely assign wins to the wrong teams. It's good that the schedule recognizes you as having played those games, but if it's not counting in the standings, who knows what that means.

You're still listed as being 0-1. And to make matters worse, this time, your game with madnena actually shows up in the "recent games" list (right side of the page), but it's not counting in the standings. Honestly, I have no clue what is going to happen when we get to the end of the season. It's like the league knows that you've played your games (especially since it's not available for me to resolve), but they're not showing in the standings. It could just mean that the standings are broken and at the end of the season, you'll have your rightful record. Or it could mean every game you play is a waste of time. Sony won't address the issue, and they've been deleting every post inquiring about it.

Any idea how long it takes this site to update? My last two games (wins) aren't showing up in the standings, although they show up on the side w/the recently played games.

Of course, I can't check my schedule on the website. Get with the times, SCEA! 2K had fully featured league sites 5 years ago!

I'm still dying to play a game sometime, so whoever has the Dodgers on their schedule... let me know.

It used to update almost immediately. If it's not, then I'm really going to be worried about this league. Actually, looking at the recent games, my fear of how truly broken this game is is growing. It appears that since yukine replaced hqn101, NONE of the games played have counted in the standings. ajumbaje had a 10-0 win over DestroVega right after yukine joined...but if you look at DestroVega's record, he's still 1-1. But you can also see on the recent games that he lost to TheGloomyAvenger 3-2. Sooooo...yeah, it looks like none of the games are showing up in the standings anymore. Whether or not they're even counting, I have no fucking idea.

My gut feeling is that they ARE counting considering that it doesn't tell me I need to resolve them. They're just not showing right in the standings...anywhere. This puts the entire league in a ridiculous situation. Either all of our games are counting, or none of them are. The only way to find out will be to play through the season and see what happens when it's time for the playoffs. I guess it will either fix itself, or it won't let us advance, and we'll all have wasted a tremendous amount of time. If the latter happens, I guess we can then discuss our plans for rioting and burning the SCEA San Diego studios to the ground.

Also, I'd still like to remind people that Series 2 games are due by tomorrow night at 11:59 PM EST. I think no matter what happens with this league, I want to see it through and ride it into the ground if that's what it takes. SCEA's level of incompetence is really amusing at this point.

as far as i can tell from my other league after someone quits/rejoins human played games are lost in limbo but resolved games show up in standings. its sad to see how shitty this supposed all about the online game sucks so bad online. i think we may be playing for nothing unless by some miracle they patch it which is highly doubtful. only other shitty solution is another smaller league with actively active members who wont quit or get booted. or jut keep playing and hope for the best

also whats up with dahkx is he in the league or not

I just sent Dahk a PSN message. He has been logged in to the board as of today and even posted, but he hasn't responded to my 7 or so posts about wanting to play a league game. Neither has anyone else. Please keep that in mind if you have to resolve our game.
 
Definitely. All is being taken into consideration, guys, and wins will be given to the people making the effort. And I agree with mdam0re that it's entirely possible we could be playing for nothing. But if even for the sheer sake of curiosity, I want to see this through...even if I have to auto-resolve the last 5 weeks. I want to see what the league does. If at the end, we've all wasted 2-3 months of time, I'll send a very serious letter to everyone at SCEA that I can get contact information for, and let them know what a joke their "best rated sports game" is. And I guess it would give all of us a lasting reminder why not to buy next year's game at launch too.

BUT, like I said, the games are still showing up in the "recent games" section of the webpage and on the schedule in the game menu itself. And the game isn't asking me to resolve any of those games. So, MAYBE it's just the standings that are broken. At this point, you have to wonder how much SCEA can actually fuck up in one year. Who knows, maybe something will work out right for once.
 
Sorry Josh. Just taking a loss on this one. This game is so arbitrary it's ridiculous. Because it's Brandon Webb, any hard hit ball goes right at somebody. No point in finishing a predestined game. And needless to say, I was completely put off when the ump squeezed me on strike 3 that should have ended the inning, and then you promptly hit a 2 run homer. I wish their was an "argue call" option in this game because pitchers and managers would be losing their shit in real life over calls that bad. It's not worth raising my blood pressure over, so I'll just take the loss.
 
No word from Dahk, and it's after 11:00 Eastern time. He hasn't been on the PSN in 24 hours or so. I don't think we'll be getting this one in, unfortunately. I've stayed up to try despite not sleeping at all last night.

Sorry you feel that way. The game does seem a little bit like a tilt. I should've been called out there in the 2nd inning. I'm a little suprised to get the HR from my number 9 guy also. Hopefully we can play a better game later down the line.

Also, in the other league the standings are off as well, even on the website. It really is unacceptable, I'm going to be buying The Show used a few months after release next season when it goes down in price.

It's cool. I think I just said "are you fucking kidding me???" like 10 times in the first 3 innings. And then when you hit that one right inside the 3rd base bag, I was like "forget it". Nothing personal. I could just tell I wasn't going to get anything going against Webb, and I have some other stuff to do tonight, so call it me "tapping out", lol. You were all over Peavy though. It seemed like even when I was putting stuff on the corners, you were crushing it.

Yup. It's unfortunate, but the online makes this game really hard to love. And the fact that they made a trophy called "Much Cooler This Year" for completing an online league, it shows you that they have no fucking clue what they're doing. They actually believed it worked right...as frightening as that is.

I will admit I have been a little absent but I do care about my league. Finals are finishing up this week so I'm all league after this. Hopefully everything will keep going smoothly. I understand where you are coming from though. I promise to do better.

Yeah, it looks like Dahk and SnorE are really the only reasons Series 2 games aren't completed now. They've got until tonight to get those played. If they don't, this marks the 2nd week in a row that they've failed to get their games played (plus all the "free time" before deadlines were imposed). If they don't play by tonight, they'll be dropped from the league.

Also, I took a look at the schedule, and it looks like the majority of people have either played either their Series 3 game or their Series 4 game. So, I was thinking about making next week's deadline cover Series 3 and 4 just for the sake of moving things along a little quicker (otherwise, the regular season will take 5.5 months to complete). There were a few players that hadn't played either game: yukine, spidamatrix, and possibly chriscolbert. If those guys are ok with requiring 2 games for next week, I'd really like to do that.
 
All right, did some more housekeeping. Dahk and SnorE are now dropped. This means both the Red Sox and the Padres are available to take over. Anybody who takes them over should keep in mind that since replacing players, all of the games played have stopped showing up in the standings. The only solace you can take from this is that they're not showing up for anybody else either.

They are, however, showing up in the schedule...and it's not asking me to resolve the games, so hopefully this means they are being tracked, and we all will not have wasted a ton of time when the regular season is over. Neither Dahk nor SnorE played a game in the league, but they both had their Series 1 games resolved. So, both teams are 0-1. Here are the rosters for both teams.

I haven't resolved either of the Series 2 games for both teams, with the idea of not giving an extra loss to whoever takes over the team(s). I also hope that whoever does take over will be very proactive in getting their games played. I'm requiring that Series 3 AND 4 games be played by next Tuesday (5/18) at 11:59 PM EST. So, make sure you're available to participate.

OH MY fuckING GOD!!!! Just when I think this game can't suck any fucking worse...
So, when I logged into the league today to boot Dahk and SnorE, I got a message telling me Mike Lowell had an injured shin and would be listed day to day. It gives me the option of keeping him active, putting him on the 15 day DL, or the 60 day DL. I choose to keep him active.

Now, when I tried to play Supreme, it wouldn't let me send the challenge because it said I had an invalid roster. I remember "oh yeah. I guess I need to replace Lowell". So, I go into my lineup screen, and I see "Empty" where Lowell's name should be. Ok, that's normal. But also, over the "batting order" and "position" spaces, I see two big red boxes. I try to replace Lowell with Freddie Sanchez...and it won't put Sanchez into the lineup. I try for each of the 4 lineup types...and nothing. Then, I notice that for some reason, I also have "Empty" and the red boxes listed for my #9 hitter...for no reason at all. I'm like "what the hell?!?"

So, I try to back out of the lineup screen, annnnnd it freezes my fucking PS3 requiring me to do a hard reset. I say again...WHAT THE fuck IS WRONG WITH THIS GAME??? I swear to God, if I ate Mexican food, took a shit, made it into a disc shape, and put it in my PS3...it would play better. It's like this game is BEGGING me to trade it in. I think my team could quite possibly be broken and I won't be able to finish the season. It's just one fucking thing after the next with this damn game.

For some reason I couldn't locate my pitches for a bit and swung at everything. You were CLEARLY the better player today. Honestly, you deserved the win more than me. You seriously cannot catch a break from MLB 10. I'm almost convinced that Sony is out to make your life miserable.
 
Well, I found a workaround to this problem. I still have no fucking idea how Lowell got hurt in the first place. Maybe it was my "punishment" for quitting out of my game with Josh. I don't know. Anyway, I was about to put Lowell on the DL...which would have really been unfair since his injury was only listed at 1-6 days. Instead, I tried just sending him down to AAA and calling up Jose Lopez.

Doing this just automatically put Lopez in all of Lowell spots in the lineup, although it also reset my entire lineup and pitching rotation since I called someone up (I didn't remember this until Supreme and I went to start our game). My rotation is so fucked up now, I'm not even sure who's supposed to be pitching. Even though I used my #2 (Jake Peavy) in the game against Josh, the only guy in my rotation that had full stamina was my #5 (Barry Zito). So, I ended up using Zito for no reason at all.

As for the game itself, Supreme played great. He kept me off balance much of the game, but I seemed to have a ridiculous ability to hit opposite field bloopers that rolled into the corner for doubles against Felix Hernandez. I did this probably 4 times before pulling ahead 2-1 in the 7th. Then in the 9th, karma swung the other way and Supreme started getting bleeders that would just roll past my fielders..right in that annoying "can't grab it, but if you dive it will hit off your chest" range. He tied the game on one such hit. Then with the bases loaded and 2 outs, Melky Cabrera hit a pinch hit single right inside the 3rd base bag.

I feel like I'm running out of gas with this game. The more I play, the more things feel scripted. Yeah, a lot of baseball is luck, but there's so much in this game that goes against normal occurances. If my opponent makes a bad pitch, and I guess pitch and location, I shouldn't pop it up or hit a scorcher right at somebody 9 times out of 10. And I shouldn't be hitting bloops for doubles on pitches off the plate 4 times in a game. I don't even know why Supreme won the game. I was making the same pitches I had made all game...but all of a sudden, for some unknown reason, they just started going through for hits. It's like there's no rhyme or reason to anything.

Yeah, but those bloopers I had early were truly retarded. I swung late as hell, and barely made contact...and they just floated inside the line and rolled to the corner. Like I said, I didn't really get the feeling that either of us did anything to convincingly "win the game". We were just playing and stuff happened. I just hate games like that where there's really no convincing hits. Neither of us had a big gapper to drive in a run, or a home run, or anything. And yet, we both had like 9+ hits in the game. It's stupid for there to be that many crappy hits.

I mean, I had Alfredo Aceves in for the 7th and 8th inning, and you got NOTHING. Then, I use both of my closers in the 9th (Brian Wilson and Mike Gonzalez) and the hit parade begins. Under normal circumstances, you would think you didn't start trying until the 9th inning. But I know that's not true. I don't know. I want to quit this game like addicts want to quit heroin. I know it's ruining my life, but I just keep using.

Haha, yeah those doubles were ridiculous. Every pitch I made up and in that you swung on dropped in that same exact spot in the corner, it was nuts. Like you said, those slow ass outfield animations suck so bad, so I tried to avoid going anywhere near the wall. As for the late game dramatics, maybe a harder throwing pitcher (fast than Zito at least) and my hail mary power swings had something to do with it. Honestly though, it was more luck than anything. This type of stuff happens a lot to me when I face the computer.
