CAG Niche Backloggers Anonymous (Monster Hunter World!) [February]

Also, the endings for Bloodborne was really weird. Something that I'd love to discuss but I should keep it under a spoiler tag.

My next game is gonna be trying to get each class up to rank 2 for Battlefield One, which is easier said than done since the game is tarting to feel really stale to me. Then I might go for Titanfall 2 plat.

Next Japanese game might be an RPG, although I can't really pick one, and I don't want to go back to FF15 just yet.

Nvm, my next Japanese Niche game will be DMC. Have not played that one yet, and was looking to for a while. I'll also be streaming it during night time now.

Finished Mafia 3 and the talos principle. Wow Talos was a great puzzle game with some very interesting philosophy tied to the plot. Next are stories Paths of Destiny and dragonquest builders!

In case your wondering how I'm doing this. I was part way through a bunch of these, and I've been stuck home sick, what better way to spend time sick :)?

Also I'm officially not counted psplus and free gold games are part of my backlog unless I download them. I always "purchase them"

I'm playing Final Fantasy XV. I like it. I'm glad a couple Gamestop discount offers last month spurred me into buying it. I'll be playing it until Resident Evil 7 comes out.

I was afraid to advance a fairly early mission because I thought it might make me leave the demo area. I didn't want to leave side missions undone. But I advanced, and you still have access to that area. It's a good thing I did advance because it really opened up the game.

I'll be playing Overwatch just enough to get the three weekly loot boxes from winning nine Arcade playlist games. I was going to get one win before playing FFXV so I could get the First Win of the Day XP bonus, but the first time I tried that I ended up just playing Overwatch.

I recently bought a Cronusmax. I had it record my button presses as I went through an entire Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 vacation quitting volleyball games. Now the Cronusmax grinds through a vacation and gets me around 1 million owner money all by itself.

I should have bought a Cronusmax months ago. I finally got one because I realized I was avoiding PS3 games because I dislike playing with a dualshock 3 controller. I also bought an Xbox One controller to use on the PS3. Even though I don't have an Xbox One. Now I'll give my PS3 backlog a chance.

Was this the new emo-dante? Still haven't brought myself to even pick it up when I found it dirt cheap

Yeah its the new Dante, ugh, they completely ruined my love for Devil May Cry. Granted, the only one I played was DMC3 but I absolutely loved that game, especially the lore. I think the modernized versions really ruined the badassery of it. Especially Vergil, he got the sissy treatment.

One of my top ten video game female characters was also from DMC, Lady (Red from Transistor is #1), and Kat is just a sucky replacement. If you watch my stream you'll hear me complain constantly. Not to say it isn't a good game in it's own right, I mean it's probably a great game if this is one's first and only DMC. To the others its just a slap in the face. Especially the white wig part.

Also, the jumping is terrible. Watch my stream archive and you'll see me die... just to falling damage... and you can laugh at my gamer rage.

Well for my weekly report:

Most played game/niche: Bloodborne

As you all know, I've completed and platinumed it. I still feel a little Bloodborne withdrawal, like I want to go back and play it but since I've already gotten all the trophies, and don't want to play the DLC yet, there isn't much point. It's a great game though, and if I remember correctly, it was released in 2015, and I probably would've given it GOTY then, maybe next to Witcher 3.

My next game is DMC, and I really hate that game. I'm not putting a lot of effort, so I die constantly, and getting C or D ranks each mission. Not like I was great at DMC3, but that was was much harder and peaked my interest. I only do like 1 mission a day so, maybe it'll take a month to finish at this point. Also, Watch Dogs 2 gives me carsickness for some reason...

My last productive week gaming wise that I'll have for awhile since classes are starting again tomorrow. I finished the plat for Dishonored 2, got the trophy for beating uncharted 4 on crushing, I finished the first 3 episodes for hitman, and I played a little bit of watch dogs 2. It feels much clunkier than the first watch dogs in my opinion. The controls don't feel very intuitive. I can't tell if I want to drudge through that or start my copy of doom.

TL ; DR I completely failed to play anything Niche this week.

Finished dragonquest builders and paths of destiny! Dragonquest heroes and pokemon sun and looming now. Not very far into either so they will likely take the next 10 days at least. Then I'll go on to nights of azure, that should get to Berseria at the end of the month, that's the plan anyways. It'll be slow from here on out, back to 5 day work weeks after the holidays.

Ok, I was wrong about Watch Dogs 2. It's actually really fun, I just bypassed an entire mission area full of enemies by remote controlling a truck with security cameras, and all of the guards were puzzled as heck. Wow, it is a true sandbox game, there are like a million ways to complete a mission, unlike the GTA format. This is the most freedom I've had in a game since Metal Gear Solid V. I really can't stand the hipsterness of it though.

The game still makes me nauseous too, I think it's the camera moving too fast.

I had the first Watch Dogs and I found it really bad. Never going to play another again. Although that can be said about most Ubisoft games now.

Finally got my Bloodborne Platinum theme!

I had the first Watch Dogs and I found it really bad. Never going to play another again. Although that can be said about most Ubisoft games now.
Yeah, the first one wasn't very good, but it was mostly because of how basic and boring the beginning sequence was, and how repetitive the end game was. But the middle of the game, if you can even bare to get that far, is actually kind of decent, but still not a great game. But kind of fun for it's time.

I do think the 2nd one is much, much better. Many things were revamped (graphics, control, story) especially them adding color and style to the game, albeit maybe too much though.

Are there any graphical settings? Some stuff, like changing FOV and motion blur can help with motion sickness.
Thanks! I might mess around with some things. It really is mostly the motion blur, although they have a hacker mode of vision, kind of like Arkham Asylum's detective mode, where you can see through walls and everything becomes static and fuzzy, and that just makes me dizzy all the sudden when I turn it on. They also have an RC car that you use frequently during missions, like Rainbow Six Siege's drone, which also makes me nauseous. So much so that I actually had to trade in R6S after like 3 hours of playing.

It sucks cause I can't really play games like Mirror's Edge or Everybody's Gone to Rapture. Makes me scared just thinking about VR.

I was going to get it anyways. I've only been exploring like 1-2 layer a day so it's been slow. I'm at the lever for the Defiled Chalice Layer 2, but only had one try at it before I had to go to bed.

I didn't play much this week. Maybe half an hour of Street Fighter V. I caught a cold that I'm just now getting over, and I didn't fee like playing anything.

I played Street Fighter just enough to do the weekly and semi weekly fight money missions. There was around 11,000 FM this week from the missions. That's like winning 220 matches.

I heard it was the 20th anniversary for Princess Mononoke, so I re-watched that.

For this week I beat Fallout 4. I'm now just trying to get the platinum and all the dlc trophies. Good game but by the end I'm just too overpowered. When it's too easy it takes the survival part out and feels like a regular shooter.

I'm still playing Pokémon Sun. Just beat the second island Kahuna so I guess I'm half ways. Fun game but I miss the regular gym battles. Prefer them over the trial things, although they aren't that bad either.

Finally beat Castlevania Circle of the Moon and am happy to put it to bed so I can move on.
Started working on zelda from snes on my wiiU

Not a game but I finally knocked Spider Man 3 off my movie backlog. Was surprisingly a good game. Probably going to play Exist Archive or Final Fantasy 3 for this month.

I'm back to school this week, but homework isn't too bad yet so I've squeezed in some gaming in the approximately 2 hour window I have between school and work every week day. I've played a couple story missions from watch dogs 2, and I also gave co-op a shot with BRW (immensely entertaining btw). Additionally I played some more Pokemon and am now on the third island, and finally, I played episode 3 of life is strange. The ending of chapter 3 genuinely surprised me, and I'm more excited to finish the game now.

Didn't really play any niche games this week, I tried learning a little bit of Johnny in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, but that was about it. Spent the majority of the time playing Watch Dogs 2, which is a surprisingly fun game. Outside of the story, which is growing on me a little, I think it is a contender for GOTY 2016 next to Mafia 3. Just a really crazy game, a true open world sandbox where you can do so much.

Here's a little video of the craziness that me and Thatguy1513 went through, that'll hopefully convince some of you to try the game out. If it doesn't, I don't know what will.

Thanks for watching!

I finally beat Sonic Unleashed... again! You see back in 2012 I was working hard in getting the Platinum Trophy until for some unknown reason I got a sava data corruption for this game. I only needed to complete all the Hot Dog Challenges achievements and in particular had 2 out of 3 of the Eggmanland time trials challenges complete, and if you've played Sonic Unleashed you know just how much of a torture chamber Eggmanland is and now I get the honor to suffer through that 3 more times! I guess this is more of a achievement backlog instead but I do plan to play Zelda Twilight Princess HD next so I can raise my Wolf Link amiibo and have him ready to be my companion in Zelda Breath of the Wild.

Wow, EdJericho finally stepped foot in the Backloggers Anonymous thread... O.O

Akibas trip was crazy short, started last night beat a route today. How many months ago was that the title? Should have just played it lol.

Also I noticed I'm missing from the section for completing persona 4 golden. definitely did that one :)

I doubt I'll finish anything else this month besides pokemon sun. This was fun I think I'll do this rush every January,to see how many I can squash.

Was just playing the last episode of life is strange and had to rage quit because in a confrontation with the main antagonist, I would screw up and the game would tell me I have to rewind, but then it would flash the "rewind not available" whenever I hit either of the rewind buttons. Really killed my enjoyment and immersion of the game. I'm hoping that when I try again tomorrow the issue corrects itself.

I stalked browsed your history awhile back and saw you made a post in this thread and figured I'd finally post something now since I have something to say. Plus I thought you'd probably be wondering why I haven't been on PS4 in some time and this is the reason why. Maybe we can soon finish off the Uncharted 4 Survival mode since trying to beat Eggmanland without dying once is already driving me insane.

Added! If anyone else is missing from the wall, tell me and I'll update it. Did anyone finish Steins;Gate at all? Also, from now on if anyone finishes any of those games once listed, even if it isn't in that month, I'll still add you to the list. And post your trophy/plat screenshots in the PS4 community, so I can download and upload those pictures there.

Funny, since I started this thread way back too. It'll be the Backloggers Anniversary in a few months, and some thing cool will happen then!

This is also the longest lasting thread I've started, from the BBC thread, Amazon Guides thread, Jet.com thread, Twitch Freebies, and the Overwatch/FPS thread.

I platted Bloodborne last Friday btw. I rushed to the last four chalice bosses (~10 tries on Amygdala, ~10 tries parrying all of Descendant, ~5 tries BLB, first try Queen), and didn't even try to learn Moon Presence, since it went down in 4-5 axe whirls. Queen was disappointingly easy.

Played NG+ a bit, and it's amazing how fast it is with a +10 axe and knowing where to go. Downed Cleric Beast and Father, and finally took the disc out.

Been playing Dragon Quest Builders again. On the second mission doing the time trial (previously beat the first two without trying for trophies). Will try to get the last trophy in Dungeon Travelers also this month, hopefully.

I finished steins gate's main story during its month Never got around to getting the plat though. I also finished life is strange yesterday. Didn't care to much for the last episode especially since I hit that glitch I mentioned a few posts above about half way through the episode, but it was overall worth the couple bucks I threw at it while it was on sale.

Final Fantasy XV is a sleeper hit for me. Other than watching someone stream the Japanese demo I hadn't paid any attention to the game. I bought it on a whim thanks to a few discounts, and it turned out to be a game I keep wanting to come back to.

I just finished chapter 7. I'm going to leave it there as it seems like it will be a good spot to start the game up again after I finish Resident Evil 7.

I lied I have a flu like bug so I'm stuck home... So I also tore through infamous second son. I 100% the good karma playthrough. Fantastic game, never felt too repetitive. Now to finish pokemon moon with the remaining time this month...

Beat Dragon Quest Builders last night, but I'm missing a couple trophies I'm going to finish up tonight.

I hated chapter 3. Between being unnecessarily long, the NPC talk like hooligans and I can't read a sentence without wanting to skip it all.

Chapter 4 was really fun, and a lot more story focused than the first 3 chapters.

What's funny is that the ending credits has voice actors, but there's not one spoken dialog in the US version.

I really wish they didn't have the 20 day / 30 day challenges. Makes playing it less relaxing.

I beat Resident Evil 7 on Normal difficulty. I enjoyed it. It's design is a lot like the original Resident Evil. I like opening up a mansion/house/ship with keys and puzzles. When Resident Evil 3 came out I grew tired of that design, but the Resident Evil Remake re-release this gen got me back into it. After playing Remake HD I went back to Resident Evil 3 and thought it was really good.

I started my Madhouse difficulty run, but I'm going to put it on hold. I want to give the Final Fantasy XV timed event a try, and I decided to give the Overwatch timed event more time. I was going to just buy the stuff I want with credits, but my loot box luck has been great. From seven loot boxes I got three event legendary skins and one epic skin. I want to see what else I can get.

Ok, a little bit late, but get your February suggestions in. We are gonna do it a little bit different this month, and there will be no poll in order to speed up the process. The concept in simple, suggest up to three games like always, but this time, it depends on the number of games that you suggest. If you only suggest 1 game, then that game will have 3 votes. If you suggest 2 games, then both games have 2 votes, and if you suggest 3 games, all 3 will have only 1 vote each.

For example, Gershomcz gets 2 votes in for both Ni No Kuni and SAO Re, but if WhoKnows suggests only God Eater, then he wins it with 3 votes. So the less games you suggest, the more impact your vote will count.

I suggest Valkyrie Drive and Final Fantasy XV this month.

Here are the current tallies:

February

Ni No Kuni

2

SAO Re

2

Valkyrie Drive

2

Final Fantasy XV

2

The reason I choose to do it like this, is because I feel like certain people's suggestions tend to be drown out, just because others don't really have a niche game they want to play, but decided to nominate a game they just happen to have in their backlog. It winds up taking the opportunity away from someone who really wanted to play a certain game that month. For example, everyone voted Persona 4 Golden but I didn't really see many get into it, not even myself who voted for it. Same with Akiba's Trip, where only Deadofnight played it that month. While the rest of us grinded Overwatch and etc. WhoKnows actually played God Eater Resurrection, which probably should've been the month's game instead of extending Persona 4 so many times. Not trying to put to blame on anyone here, but I feel like while this change might hurt the majority a bit, the one or two people passionate about playing a certain niche game that month will benefit from it. Sorry for the wall of text!

Get your suggestions in!

I'm currently playing P4Golden on my Vita and FFXV on my ps4.
I'm going to dive back into Devil Survivor 2 record breaker and play the second story or jump into Pokémon Moon....

So, with that said I cast my vote to FFXV since that is the only console game I will put time into this coming month

sent from my galaxy s6 edge plus using tapatalk on android

Still not done with the new Pokemon so that's my vote I guess. (Who am I kidding I'll probably spend my 6-10 hours of weekly gaming time playing Overwatch anyway).

Berseria

FFXV

I haven't started anything since platinuming DQ:B, cause I don't know what to play. Doesn't help that I bought Watchdogs 2 cause of you people.

Ni No Kuni

About to plattium my first game which is Watch Dogs 2.

Just need throw up, long jump and hunter and I did it.

Then onto Fate/Extella and DQ8.

And Tavern Tycoon is on Early Access

I'll cast my single vote for Ni No Kuni then. Although I don't mind FF15, it will give me a reason to actually buy it.
