Yeah. That shit was ridiculous. I suppose we're at fault for never using it, but I'm so used to the hoverboards that I forget about it in UT3. Those guys play like they're in it for some huge cash prize, I'm just trying to have fun on a Monday night ;)
 
Let us wish Freaky luck for his trophy whoring. Though the list was essentially a punch in the face to only people dedicated in the game will get them. That will probably turn most people off.

The translocator is a thing I noticed ALL people in clans using and they bum rush the living shit out of it.

And yes, the AK-47s were playing like the ten grand jackpot was at stake in the games. Though you learn to adapt to it after playing with them. The I87s and Ak-47s both use translocator bum rushes which make capturing the flag take almost half a hour at a time. They do help you how to aim though. Because you're constantly shooting at them around your base LOL.
 
You could have really helped us out jman. Matt and Allah were in shock and awe over how the AK-47s kicked our ass in Capture the Flag.

Granted his team does abuse them like russian men abuse their wives, but the AK-47s do possess actual fighting skill when playing. They also play a lot of duels.

Also you forget these tips

You can destroy the translocator. The Translocator only has 2 health points so ANYTHING can kill it. If you destroy it while they're teleporting they INSTANTLY die, or if they teleport after it's destroyed they also die.

They're vulnerable when translocating as it takes a second to go back to regular weapons. So you will get a first shot most of the time.

The Translocator does have a limit and it needs to be replenished after too many uses.

The translocator can not be used while transporting the flag.

All good, there were only 4 of us at the height, I think, and freaky dipped out early (presumably because he didn't have all the maps?).

Next week we'll all have the patch and there should be a lot of people on, which will more than make up for it.
 
well we'll see how many can play. probably next week we'll only play both patch maps. but after that we'll be playing with custom maps so only will have those people if THEY choose to do a little work and install the customs
 
Just gotta make sure they have a lot of fun Monday night and want to come back for more.

Anyone know what time the patch will be up? It seems PSN gets updated mid-day Thursdays (at least for me on the East coast). If it's up early enough I could be down for some impromptu games Thursday night just to try out the mod support and whatever's been added to online functionality. Maybe I won't lose connection between every fucking match!
 
Yeah that's weird Matt. The others always tend to stay between maps, yet you always get dropped. I wonder why exactly. It's so weird. They did state improved network support so lets keep our fingers crossed!
 
the last few weeks PSN has updated around 2-4pm pacific. perhaps paco can turn on his dedicated once the patch is released for cags to mess around in. ie, password.

This thing is huge. They just unleashed a free weekend trial on steam and lowered the price to a weekend 12 bucks for the PC version. Servers are PACKED and I'm downloading at an epic 100 kb a sec speed. FUN. But people are saying the servers are full, people can't get in because of how full they are and that the general impressions are THIS is what UT3 SHOULD have been and people are calling it UT 2k3 to UT 2k4 with this update on Neogaf. GOD I hope my laptop can play it at least somewhat ok so I can ease my PS3 delay of the Titan pack.
 
Finally, they are updating this thing. I was just thinking recently about trading this game. Man was I disappointed in the lack of people playing online. Hope this gets tons of people back into this. I'm still holding out hope.
Think this will get people playing again for very long?

There might be new people who realize how fun UT3 is. Plus with the easier mod browser we may actually get some more dedicated people playing.

How old is your laptop? I was thinking of trying out the Titan Pack myself, and my PC only has like 2 gigs of ram. :(
 
I'm up for letting Hone host this game. His upload speed is a bit higher then mine so he should be able to do a slightly less lag free game then me.
