CAG PS3 Unreal Tournament 3 Night [On Indefinite Hold]

Sounds good to me. Can we try for a little map variety? I feel like all the CTF I've done in recent memory is 50% Towers.

and PCSpeed! I can't stand the slower matches now :)
 
I ALWAYS use PCSpeed X I hate the slower map style. And the health mutators to keep the game flowing. And you mean Facing Worlds?
 
I'm trying to install the files but have had issues, trying another method, hopefully it'll work so I can join you all tonight..
 
I'm setting it up right now. It's going to be capture the flag. Look for the words GENTLEMEN. It'll also be open since team capture the flag levels suck without people. GENTLEMEN GET YOUR ENGINES READY
 
Yeah those were some hectic games. Fun none the less. I'm still surprised at how you guys eeked out a win on some of those rounds. Who said how about deathmatch though?
 
yeah good games guys. thanks for hosting paco. I think blue wants a rematch later =D I'll look into some of the custom CTF maps so we can have some more variety.

This map got 3rd place in Phase 1 of MSUC.

I'm looking to get a hold of CTF-Dreary3 as well from the same author. I'll also be looking at some of the MSUC maps. Hopefully HOLP2 gets cooked soon as well. I'll update the OP soon.

sure we can do that one. I already have it loaded on my ps3. I meant team blue. Nope that wasn't me. but I did miss some dm :)

edit: also don't get that safeguard map. it looks like there's a version 2 that's better.
 
I personally like CTF more then death match as it adds a bit more tension and purpose. And I hardly even remember that map. I haven't played Quake 3 since the Dreamcast era.
 
I was the one rooting for some DM, half-jokingly. I was having fun, too, but I think you and jman know the maps a lot better than the 3 (hone, x3, myself) of us did, and we spent a portion of our time just being lost.

I realize the best way to fix that is to play the maps, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating :)

Remember, you guys even did decent when it was 2 vs 4. That was crazy.
 
I'm glad I hopped on last night...thanks for the reminder, Matt. We didn't win often but I liked the communication our Blue Crew was using.

As long as we're talking preferences here, I always prefer VehicleCTF over "on foot" CTF.

I'd still like to play some Warzone one of these nights, as well...even if it's all of us against some bots.

I joined you all for some games last night, but I got booted off about 5 times...not sure why, kept on getting disconnected. I played DM and TDM afterwards and didn't have an issue...anyways, it was fun while I had a chance to play and I did get the custom maps installed.
 
Randy- I think I'd prefer us vs bots, to be honest. The teamwork and communication angle is a lot better IMO than having smaller teams and less communication. I'd enjoy it either way, though, so long as we actually do it!

jwar- glad to have you on board. I noticed you were in and out a lot... not sure what the problem could have been. Have you installed any custom skins, maps, etc other than the ones we use? Sometimes that creates problems, though it does seem odd that no one else would be effected (based on past times this has happened). If it happens again, try erasing all UT3 data and starting from scratch. It's a bitch, but it's worked in the past, if it's indeed a problem on your end.

QFT, as the cool kids say.

I think it'd be cool to get all of us on the same Warzone team, especially if most/all of us have headsets.

Maybe next Monday? I'll even host, if no one else wants to step up.
 
If we did that, it'd be nice to try and get an estimated # of people who plan on coming. It would suck to set up a match with bots, and only have 3 players come in. Otherwise I'm all for it.
 
Sorry I couldn't make it last night. Had dinner plans again.

I'd be all for humans VS bots games if they'll be CTF or Onslaught. I never played UT2k4 with more than 4 other real people and it was still a blast.

Should we split it? Since it alternates between me and Hone hosting the games, he can do Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch since that's what he usually does, and I'll do Capture the Flag and Vehicle Capture the Flag. His games will be closed cag style where you need to know the password to get in while my games will be open for all to play providing you have the maps and mutators to join. Mainly so we can get some new blood in and maybe invite them to become regulars.
 
I had alot of fun last night probley the most I've had in months. That custom map called Touch isn't that great... I just hate it because it is way to much green... :lol:

Those mutators are small enough to where people who don't have em can download em from me when entering the game. I've tried this before and it does work. I've downloaded mutators from other people when joining their games.

And I just saw that on www.ut3mod.com it looks kind of interesting. Maybe we should give it a go. I would also like to try 2d UT3 mode.
 
Hey Guys,
I had the pcspeedx installed and then most of the maps. When I first logged into the first game, it automatically downloaded the autohealth packs, I still have to download those myself, I wonder if that had anything to do with it. Besides what you guys use, I didn't really have anything else installed. I had this issue a couple months ago and made adjustments to Wireless settings, set a static IP, and its been fine ever since, until last night. The only other thing I could think of was maybe my roommate was doing some heavy downloading or something...I should be able to make it next week and I do have a wireless headset, just haven't used it before.
 
I would love to introduce PCSpeedX Plus mutator which is about 20-30% faster then PCSpeedX, but those mutators only really work for people who use a mouse to aim. For controller users, there's a slight disadvantage since they never had to aim that fast. Would anyone be up for PCSpeedX Plus the week after next when we play? Or is the game fast enough at PCSpeedX?
 
Bombing Run was a really fun mode in ut2k4 that they took out in UT3. There's a strong BR community on the PC side. There are a LOT of maps to download for it, so I'd probably want to give people some time to get it. I'll update the OP when I get a chance with the BR stuff and the CTF maps I found. I'm going to start looking for new players through games and through gamefaqs. That way we can have a bigger pool of people to join in. Too bad three of my friends gave up on it. One said UT3 was too hard and moved too fast.
 
I meant Warfare. Dumb Epic and their changing the names around. The few Warfare maps I played didn't even seem too different from ONS anyway.
 
I gotta be honest with you. I never played warfare except once and I lost horribly on it.

if you're interested we could reach out to some of the ps3 regulars on the UT3 epic forums. There's a few clans running who mostly play warfare. They'd probably be interested in other game modes as well.
 
One of the people on the blue team was from a clan. Diablos I believe. He's the one that got the flag I think. He's one hell of a good aimer on top of that. I already added like five people from Gamefaqs that said they were interested in playing some Unreal Tournament 3. If even two or three of them join to what we already have it'll be a good enough size.
 
The K/M combo isn't too much. I use a mouse and control combo. I move with the left analogue stick, aim with the mouse and shoot with the mouse I can also choose weapons on the mouse and jump. Though I can also jump with left analogue stick. I use the L2 trigger for voice communication.
 
CPB3:Volume2 is out. They have both characters and maps. It's a big d/l 286mb for the map and like 10 for the characters. I'll ahve them up on my server soon if not you can nab it from filefront or ut3mod. Also anyone who has been weary about playing on the midway servers b/c they sucked ass, you should give it another shot since they are now renamed and hosted on pc servers and I've heard nothing about good praise from everyone in the community. ut3 ps3 is really starting to shape up :)
 
I'm going to test the new people who wanted to play UT3 tonight. So I'm going to host a game today. If anyone wants to join, they're welcome to it.

Haha, an excellent question, since I knew who I was voting for the moment the primaries ended. Lately I've been addicted to the news and the election, and it's nice to be even more confident in the person you're voting for, and for those rare, insane, undecided voters (who the hell "can't decide" yet between candidates? It makes no sense to me!), it's nice to be in touch with the issues, instead of just blindly saying I support Obama because he's a Democrat.

But, your summary was so thorough that I may not watch them now;)

No UT3 for me tonight...I need to watch the debates, as well.

No special map packs. Just standard Capture The Flag for tonight. You should have already downloaded the maps that were on the PSN though as they've been there forever.
