CAG Socom Thread-SONY SHUTTING DOWN SERVERS AUGUST 31 for S1-CA Tue&Sun10pmEST

Damnit, totally forgot that last night was SOCOM night. The last time I played (two weeks back?) I was kinda bummed because the games were all no-respawn. I suck, so that meant I was killed within the first minute every time. So I was pretty much spectating the entire time.

to those who are new, i think its beneficial to play no respawns and watch smog and md. youll learn how to play the game properly and when you die you can watch some of the better guys play it properly.

Pretty much how I learned. When you die find a good player and spectate.
 
Any idea why my stats are always at zero? Ive played a lot of games online, but on the screen where it shows my two characters all stats are at zero. This happened even before the patch that took all the scores out.
 
I get that all the time... I figure it's the quarkyness that is Socom. Normally, I would've sworn off a game like this for being such a glitchy FAIL but for some reason it works.

This happens to me if I haven't played in awhile. After I get back into it my stats come back.

With regards to the Sunday CAG night, I'm up for whatever time works for everyone else. I was planning on getting on early tonight to play some unranked stuff if anyone wants to join in.
 
Good games tonight boys. Sorry I had to drop but a brother gotta sleep. I did get a kill or two on a fairly regular basis, which made me happy.

SOCOM is the new crack though. Damn, I could see myself sitting there and zoning out for hours playing it. It's crazy smooth, not too "rah rah" like most first-person shooters...highly underrated.
 
The earlier is generally the better for me, but since everyone is generally on early playing anyways, I don't think it matters too much.

Sorry I couldn't make it yesterday, have a bunch of things going on today that I needed to be ready for.

Straight crack. We did good as a squad last night, we even won a couple matches! It seems like we are getting better at watching each others back.
 
Socom is weird, it's great fun when playing with you guys, but I just can't seem to get myself to put the disc back in the system. I really need to get back into it.
 
Yeah, we definitely had some good games last night. I can't believe I pulled off that 3 kill and capture to win that round. And Gold, you were getting some sick headshots.

Before we started I told myself I would quit at midnight. At 2am though, I still wanted to keep playing but I figured I would hate myself in the morning.

I tell myself that each night but it always seems to be like 1-2am and I'm still going. It doesn't help that I have to get up everyday at 5:30 for work.

I also agree with Smog that we are getting better as a team. I really enjoy the medley games when we're all playing together as opposed to playing with random people.
 
I honestly had to pry myself away from my PS3. I could have played until 2am easy. I find it strangely relaxing. When you come out of that smoke and the scene fades in at the beginning of the match, it's like you're coming out of the womb and you're born again.

Hey guys, I finally got back from my long vacation a few days ago. I will definetly be on socom tonight, it was in my dreams everyday I was gone.

Would anyone be interested in a few CAG on CAG matches tonight before we take on some of the other clans out there? 4x4 or 8x8 if we get enough out tonight? We can stick to md's favorite Korea server.

sounds good. I'm going to play a little unranked stuff now. It's kind of fun to be able to shoot away for awhile rather than having to worry constantly about getting shot in the eye.

Good games tonight, and nice to see the big turnout. I keep forgetting about this game but I'm not playing much else on the PS3 right now so I'll probably be on more if I can hide from work.
 
Is this game worth the price now? I heard it's still broken at times...and Giant Bomb said they would give it 0/5 Stars if they could...

I would say I've gotten my $30 (used) out of it and more. I'm on whenever I can and it's great fun playing with a group.

Good games last night. I can't believe we had 13 in there at one point. I did manage to snap a picture of all of us in there so I'll see if I can post it tonight.

Awesome turnout last night, had a lot of fun. I can't stay too late because of early stuff in the morning, but its always fun.

Considering I bought this game for the bundled microphone, I would say I've gotten plenty of value out of this game.

honestly the game gets better everytime i play it. its far more than the sum of its parts.
 
Cool seeing everyone up there, but man. That image smog posted is ELITE. That needs to happen even if it's just 8x8.

Sort of want to get a group shot of the old Warhawk crew now that that's winding down. Then we can put those into a CAG yearbook and have everyone sign it. BFF KIT!
 
Wow, everything looks so clear on your TV. I have my PS3 hooked up to an old SDTV and have a hard time reading text. Anyways I think we probably had about 16 or so show up in total, just not all at the same time.

I originally purchased this game for the same reason and once I started playing I quit playing everything else. A 0/5 is totally ridiculous. For me, this game has replaced sleep.

Smog, How'd those guys get that picture??? I'd totally put that on my desk with all the CAGs.

It was just taken with a quality camera off a TV. Someone would have to photoshop the text names in though. We should definitely set it up.

I've been playing around with the different weapon loadouts alot lately, (I usually just stick with the standard assault rifle-type loadouts), and the machine guns never run out of ammo. They are oh so inaccurate, but I find it enjoyable to just be able to stand there and suppress somebody behind cover by unloading half a clip. Definitely a gun thats best used in conjunction with a teammate.

I haven't had too much luck with the sub machine guns though. It seems they do less damage and aren't as good at ranges as assault rifles. Am I missing something here?
 
i like the iw and the m4 i use the m4 and we all know what i use for terrorists =)

for the subs. yeah theyre nt good at range at all but up close theyre solid, you only need a headshot and they seem to have less recoil to allow more accurate spraying up close.
