CAG Socom Thread-SONY SHUTTING DOWN SERVERS AUGUST 31 for S1-CA Tue&Sun10pmEST

Question: One trophy requires winning rounds via hostage extraction, I have 0% despite the fact that I have at least 5 hostage extractions, how does this trophy work?

I would have had a lot more, if someone, who already has hundreds of extractions would have listened to me call dibs on the hostages. I did finish getting my 25 vip escorts though which was nice.
 
over 200 extracts thanks. i looked back and didnt see you, i said grab at the bottom of the stair. but you died b4 i get them moved my bad. Im so use to my route its automatic. good games last night

Yeah, good games but too bad I couldn't get online until pretty late. Also, good gawd I could not get out of the damn water on Quarantine last night that one time and then after swimming around one platform my guy starting to swim at like half-speed.

On an extraction note, I think I have probably extracted 0 VIPs and Hostages since the first update which wiped my stats.
 
Not really, most of the talent is pretty cool and never really any weird food requests. Sometimes we have to get certain regional beers/soda but with the magic of the internet everything is available now

I used to work concerts in college (load-ins/load-outs, maybe some lighting grid work). Heard stories about Van Halen's weird food requests (specific colored M&Ms). Arena middle-management told me he was once sent by a band's road manager to buy weed for the band. He wouldn't tell me the band's name though.

The Hawks AHL team is here in town. A chunk of the Hawks roster came through here. Met several of these guys at the games and at work (television news).

Back to SOCOM...I still suck. TPS games are harder for me. I'll be looking for y'all.

Sharks fan here. I'm from around Toronto originally, and growing up I got so tired of annoying Leafs fans that I started following a team as far away from them as possible just so I could root against them.

I know you are all wanting an update on Patch 1.5. But unfortunately, there is nothing new I can tell you. The patch is still in QA and a release date has not been determined yet. As soon as we know when the patch is going to be ready to release, we will let you know on SOCOM.com. Please remember that there is where you will always get official announcements about things like this.



I'm sorry I don't have any better news than that. But they are working on it and they are getting closer to releasing it all the time. I know you are all anxious to get your hands on this patch and I hope we will have some more news for you on it soon.

jesus, im so bad at this game it amazes me. i need to put a lot more time in. I really wish i could select a friend or clanmate and just join their game directly. i dont understand why that type of thing isnt done in every game.

It was great playing extraction on the desert glory map. Hilarious.

Caught up with Smog, who was waiting at the doorway which leads into the hostage room. At that point, everyone on the terrorist side were already dead except for MisterBee, who was in the hostage room preventing us from rescuing the hostages. So, I'm thinkin, "why the hell not, i'll be the hero, i'll get in there and see what happens." I ran in there blind and then all of a sudden i heard "BOOM", echoing through my headphones, it scared the shit outta me. My misfortune by MisterBee's claymore also got Smog as well. :) Soon after, md and gen were able to get into the room and finish the job.

He attributes Confrontation's success to the community's commitment to the franchise. Whereas other gamers may play an online game for a few weeks and move on, SOCOM fans have proven to be far more dedicated (despite the game's ... troubled launch).

The devotion of the SOCOM community will be rewarded by an upcoming patch, Rogers promises. While the Slant Six team has been largely quiet about progress on the patch, he says the massive scale and scope of the patch has led to an extended testing cycle. With the promise of DLC in the future, it's clear that SOCOM addicts will find even more reason to avoid playing other games for a long time.
 
I'm interested in picking up the game but is it true you only get one life per game? How is that even fun?

Yes, 1 life per 5 or 6 minute round (can't remember). So expect to grab a nice book or handheld of choice if you either camp a lot or die easily.

This game is really more about strategy, teamwork, and communication. A big part of the game is based on "extending" at the right time, being careful not to "overextend" your position, I think. If you're more into the respawning deathmatch reflex type games, this is probably not for you. Though there are rooms where you can respawn infinitely.

Also, much love for the community. It's surprising how solid the player count is despite the setbacks and dissapointments by the dev team since launch. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, excellent even, but there's still much to be improved on. I'm glad there aren't pre-pubescent kids flaming the mics. Most if not all players are fairly mature.
 
good games last night everyone, Sorry I went quiet for a while my headset died. Tuesdays are usually tough for me as I regularly work on tuesday nights, but I have the next few tuesdays off so I plan to play lots of socom.
 
Small suggestion for the next SOCOM night:

Someone should post the server here before/soon after the server is decided.

I got bored after 10 minutes of not knowing what server this was happening on, so I left to download Shatter instead
