CAG Socom Thread-SONY SHUTTING DOWN SERVERS AUGUST 31 for S1-CA Tue&Sun10pmEST

I just had a really long post lost by the server refusing to post it, so here is the shortened version.

Manthing: add me, md, gold, smog, you will find the server were playing on under our names in the xmb

Blackout: Your post reads like a troll, the only way to see if you like the game is to buy the game and play. If your not willing to wait out the few minutes between rounds to figure out why you died and to make changes to make not happen again, then this game is not for you.

I wonder if the joystiq post will make the weekly ps blog roundup...

GenDV posted the server 10 minutes after your post, but I guess it was too late. Really the best way though is to have some of the regulars on your friends list - goldbug, misterbee, mdamore, lethalgod and smogitup. I'm sure one of them will send you a FR.

Reads like a troll? I asked a simple question. Seeing as how Socom is full of hardcore players, it doesn't seem like this game is new player friendly. I've never played a Socom game before. Has the one death limit always been like that in the Socom series? If the rounds are only 5-6 minutes that's not too bad. I thought the games might be long and drag on, that's why I asked.

It makes for a good death penalty in a multiplayer fps. Having to wait if you die. Rent it if your on the fence and play for a few days to see if its something you think you'll get into.

I had never played a Socom game (or any online fps) before this game. I spent a lot of time watching from the grave and I still do, but this game is crazy addicting. It takes some time to learn the maps and some of the quirks in the game but watching others play when you're dead can teach you a lot. mdamore is notorious for finding spots in the levels that others overlook. It can be frustrating especially when someone with pinpoint accuracy headshots you from across the map but there's something about it that keeps pulling me back in. Playing with the CAG group is the best, both against others and against each other. Everyone is mellow which really helps, just make sure you have a headset.
 
I haven't played for a while, but I can vouch that the CAG boys are great to play with. I had beef with the one-hit-kill ruleset too, but it just makes you get better.

I think I might start hopping back on on Sunday nights.
 
Phillies on the west coast = me not playing at my usual time. I will be there tonight of course. Hopefully we get a good turnout.

Also, checkout the latest playstation blog about what they read this week. I made a nice post, but I'm guessing it won't last very long so make it quick.

For some reason, my mic button wouldn't work in lobbies, but it works when I play in-game. Weird.

I switched from a 35' inch hdtv to an old 13' inch crt monitor. It helped on my performance today. I was pleased. I was able to see you guys more clearly. ;) Other things that helped; messed around with the controller settings and warmed up in respawn before going into ranked.

Haha, is that how Smog owns the rest of us with HDTVs? Grats again on the MVP.

Is this game better with the patch? I traded this in a while back before the patch came out due its suckyness compared to the older Socom's. Can you turn off all six axis functions now?

Great games everyone. Nice to see some new players in the mix. For the record, when I play Socom i sit like 10 inches away from my monitor. This game is gonna make me go blind.

Yeah nice MVP Esper and Option was owning with the pistol. We had some great shotgun battles too
 
SDTV Mvps > HDTV Mvps, 480i represent! We don't need your fancy extra viewing area on the sides.

Highlight: Mowing down all three of you guys when I was the only one left during the Crossroads demo.

Lowlight: Getting sniped by gold, I probably deserved it considering I sent him a sarcastic message about his sniper rifle skills the round before.

Also, during that match your mic got stuck on gold, and you said "Mister B is going to..." and it cut off, what were you saying I was going to do?
 
Good games last night, finally got my 1000 kills with the assault rifle. Trying to get used to the machine gun so I can get those kills out of the way, my accuracy with it sucks at the moment, haha.

we average i say a dozen each night we have one and 4-5 on non CAG days
Pop it in youll wonder why you ever took it out in the first place
 
Those Irishmen. They made the night worthwhile. I had a jolly good day playing socom with them.

Almost positive from the accents, at least one of them was Irish.

Stupid cable modem died on me right after owning those guys during that quick match :bomb:. Tell me you guys won that match easily.

There is one good thing about playing against non cag people
They won't know where my claymores go :cool: (unlike md, who blows them up every time)

Smog if you joined earlier you probably had a decent shot at 15.
 
Sorry I dropped out kinda early guys but I froze on the last loading screen against those Irish and a buddy wanted to play Fat Princess.

I seriously need to play more of this game and damn I swear every once in a blue moon when I'm about to get MVP in a game somebody beats me by like 1 or 2 kills!

A good tip for getting Extracts is early morning Quick matches Ive gotten Plenty on Urban wasteland quickies usually the small map and usually there between 8-12 players b4 they start to leave.
make sure you have the c4 shoot grab jump out the window pattern down and you can get them too

i think psn and gb sync automatically now not sure if it works with socom tho but who cares about gb unless theres chicks involved
