CAG Warhawk GGL Tourny *Done
Just try to squeeze them together as close as possible, so we can get tons of matches in.
Agreed. I'd say play MOD tomorrow. Get a couple of games under our belts.
Just try to squeeze them together as close as possible, so we can get tons of matches in. Whoever wins this tournament will be playing a match or two every day probably. But I guess the clusterfuck of a website may help us out...
Yep, I issued two challenges yesterday for Sat Sun or Mon and Sun Tue or Wed.

I added them up and, according to the this post we should have more than enough to have a match just about everyday. Though I think a few of the people on the list never check the thread... Either way all we need is 5 and that should be pretty easy.

I plan on making a few more challenges tomorrow for the rest of next week.
I'm hoping to pretty much make challenges for every day of the tournament.:twoguns:

Yes... that would be good.
It would mean cutting CAG night short... for a bit... Yeah maybe we should.

Yup, thats the only way to win. Play as many games as possible. Thanks for putting up with that garbage website and getting everything set up. I know it is frusturating/time consuming.

Yeah, when SoCal first posted about the tourny I took a look at the site and the rules and said "screw that."
But when I saw that knife I thought what the hell. I never thought so many would take it so seriously. I figured we'd do a few matches and settle for the participation knife. I'll try my best to keep us busy so we hopefully end up in the top 32.

Alright... I went ahead and accepted the MOD game for tomorrow at 11:30 pm Eastern.
the map will be
Eucadia (Valley Battle)

Also, about the DnD game tomorrow. Since they are hosting we get to pick what side we want to be. Any preferences?

I think the big difference is the Chernovan side starts on the platform from Close Corridors, while the Eucadians get the base on the lowest island. The missile turret on the lower base has sort of a lousy visual range, but I don't know how much better the other side's turret is. The critical part is controlling the missile turret(s) on the center islands anyway. As long as people fly over there right away, we should be good. Maybe two people per base while somebody stays back and levels up the main.

I should be able to play in both games tomorrow. After that my schedule kind of crazy with family visiting and school finals, but I will try to be ready to play as often as I can. The knife is cool but I really want to try and get one of those statues if possible. Blades aren't really my style.:twoguns:
Good idea metaly. Since this is heating up we should really try to get some strats in place.
We should try putting them into practice during the cag match tonight.

I'd say Chernovan then. I like the turret placement better, and the fact that to de-level the base you can only come in from 2 ways. I think it's easier to defend. If we have 8 the I'd say 2 people each for the middle islands, 1 floater between the two. Two more to the enemy base and one to hold the fort at home.

Anyway, would be good to talk more strat. I'll try and make the game tonight.

In general, I think we should try to travel at least in pairs, at least at the beginning of the round when it's important to get zones up as fast as possible. I don't know how organized these other teams will be, but I almost never see people in groups on the public servers, or even during CAG games. If we stick together, it'll give us a huge combat advantage and we'll be able to capture zones that much faster. Just don't stand too close together so the enemy doesn't get lucky with a grenade or flamethrower.

Everyone playing in the tournament should be using a headset, too.
Everyone playing in the tournament should be using a headset, too.
Who here from the regualt group does not have a headset?

And if you get int he turret its good to have a wrench with you - if the turret gets hit jump out real quick and fix it up real quick then hop back in. The same goes with the tanks, after another tank hits you once or twice hop out fix it up real quick and jump back in --- just hope you are not on the side where it is getting shot lol.

Absolutely! Ill try to make it tonight as well for some strategy , but the travel in pairs thing is a necessity for the GGL matches

Haha, I was thinking about that the other day, try to stay in pairs of two and for zones have half the team get into Warhawks and swarm the opponent's base.

Awesome that Metaly is thinking strategies, those ideas sound solid. Definitely everyone needs a mic, and sticking together should be a given. Someone dies, then the other can pick up their weapons (that's what the Russians did in WW2).

Well I'm feeling rather useless, I don't think I'll be home on time for 11:30pm either. But as long as we have enough guys, I guess it isn't all that bad...

Working in pairs seems to be a wonderful idea. Aside from capturing zones twice as fast, it also helps to keep us alive longer when it's two of us against a (single) tank, warhawk, troop, etc. ;)
Hahaha.

THE MAN WITH THE RIFLE SHOOTS. THE MAN WITHOUT THE RIFLE FOLLOWS HIM.
Man, I remember that from Enemy at the Gates. Good movie...if I'm needed I MIGHT be able to make the 11:30 game, but I'm not 100% sure on that, it's still sort of unlikely.
Sat May 31st 8:00PM and 11:30PM Eastern?:whistle2:k
Yes...

Right now the team for the 8:00 game is
 1. freaky
 2. DD
 3. socal
 4. smog
 5. xxx
 6. stranded
 7. zen
 8. max
 9. godly
 10. metaly
 11. stakis
with Godly, metaly, and stakis being alternates (so try to join about 8:05 or so).

For the 11:30 match (I'm assuming the same people will be available) we'll do
 1. metaly
 2. darkerpsy
 3. godly
 4. stakis
 5. lonwang
 6. freaky
 7. DD
 8. socal
 9. smog
 10. xxx
 11. stranded
 12. zen
 13. max
And right now I'll ask for volunteers to be alternates. If not enough people volunteer, I'll have those with the lowest scores in the 8:00 match be the alternates.
Cthulhu and Tux, if you're home at 11:35 feel free to pop in to see if you're needed.

If anyone listed above can't do the 11:30 match let us know.
^^^ Go to scrawl which used to be onaxis? Ive seen you posting there. (I think) Good site!
Haha yea probably have. I check PS3fanboy, Kotaku, and Scrawl (which used to be onAXIS) for my PS3 updates, as well as the occasional visits to Joystiq of course.

I haven't really noticed other names of commenters on Scrawl though--not too many people generally post it would seem...

As for the game tomorrow, I'm not sure how late I'll be out tomorrow. A cousin's wedding, which is earlier in the day than normal, but you never know how late those things will run... I'll definitely be on at 11:35 if I'm home, though...

So on Southern Islands, I always thought there was a bug causing all the Chernovan planes to respawn up on top of the base and be unreachable. It turns out there's another spawn point on top, but I never noticed it until tonight.

The limited access to the flag on the Chernovan side sounds like a good idea, but it also seems like that side always gets destroyed on that layout. I'm not sure which we should pick for the game tomorrow.

Hmmm... I already posted that we'd like to be Chern here. Though I guess I could say "Ooops I got confused" (R-E-S-P-S... What... What the Shaq-Fu!).

Also, what do you guys think: Should I be strict about the "Contact the other team within 3 hours of the match" rule? Just in case.

Oh well, we should be fine as long as everyone knows about that alternate spawn. Of course... none of that even matters because we're not going to be doing any respawning, right? :)

Just a suggestion, but now that the official tournament has begun, maybe someone should take some shots of the final screen(s), timestamped, so that we can be sure no one tries to report bs scores on us...haha...

Definitely...
I was taking pictures of the practice ladder matches I was in and will be taking pictures of the non-practice ladder matches I'm in as well.

Just heard from the guy from DnD, the 8pm match...
server name will be
ggl-DNDvsCheap
and no password.

But he did say they may not get 8 people.
I'll post again if he says for sure how many they'll have.

Also, for the 11:30 game, I told MOD that we'd host. They still haven't contacted me... 3 hours prior to game time would be 8:30...
Server name will be
GGL_CAG_MOD
and the password will be
mulligan
(no Kevin Costner movie title this time )

I registered at the GGL and I'm in the the Team Warhawk World Group..or whatever its called. I don't know if I can make the 800pm, but I'm sure I can do 11:30pm match... I'm trying to hustle and get things done... we'll see though.

fuckfuckfuckfuck
:wall::wall::wall::wall:
Get this shit.
Now I was having problems adding shady to the roster (it kept saying "roster is full" or some crap).
So I went to look in the forums and found posts that pretty much say the max number of players that is allowed to be on the roster is 8...

Eight... So that means I'm supposed to change the roster for every match we do.
And, lets say for example, someone can't make it to the match at 8, like say their dog decided to eat their Warhawk disc at 7:45pm and they come here and post at 7:50 that they can't make it, I have to go and change the roster around.
That will almost ALWAYS be impossible for me to do, as I work afternoon.

Lets say the above happens, but I'm unable to change the roster in time but someone else shows up to play. Well now the other team could technically say "Whoa... You guys forfeit now, 'so and so' isn't on the roster," and they'd be right. (Maybe, the rules say "ringers" have to be reported before the start of a match "Ohh look, ANOTHER rule that makes no fuck sense, SURPRISE, SURPRISE! All a team would have to do is have the "ringer" show up last and boom, match starts and, oops, it's too late to report it.")

Now I know why they have this rule, it's because they're too stupid to think of a better way to credit wins/loses to individual people after a match. I guess having roster confirmation after the match was beyond their grasp.

What's even worse is this info is buried in the forum, they don't even bother to post it in the Announcements forum or the main page.

fuck this fuck website, their fuck lazy ass fuck admins, and their fuck stupid fuck rules.

I'm not fuck worrying about it for tonight's matches.
What's the procedure for showing up and determining who's actually playing?
3. godly

Whoever leaves the 8pm match will be added to the roster, 8v8 should be fine for this match.

Don't be spreading it around, I don't want people to think I mean CAG.

I love CAG :grouphug:, our lazy ass admins:grouphug:, and our stupid rules:grouphug:. ;):whee:

:censored: < I hope that isn't me soon.

Well, if that stuff is buried in the forum and isn't in the "official rules" does it still apply then? We could always say we weren't aware because it's not there.
Well, if that stuff is buried in the forum and isn't in the "official rules" does it still apply then? We could always say we weren't aware because it's not there.
Well that's basically what I'm going to do, but at any time they may announce it or a team we play may bring it up.

And it may be in the "official rules", I still haven't read it word for word. And if it is in the rules, it's probably worded some strange way.

Here's what I found in the rules about roster size and ringers:

Match Squad Size: The default match size is 8v8. However, the two squads can agree on any squad size before the match begins (5v5/6v6/7v7/8v8 only). The squads can negotiate the squad size using the comments section of the “Match Details” page for their particular match. If the two squads can not agree on a squad size due to not having enough members for 8v8, the match squad size will reflect the smallest number of players a team has ready for the match to a minimum of 5v5 (I.E. TeamX has 8 players, TeamY has 5 so they would play 5v5). Anything below 5v5 is not legal and will result in a double forfeit.

Substitutions/Alternates/Ringers: Once a match begins, no substitutions are allowed. (Note: Once the first map is launched, that is considered the start of the match.) If a player(s) needs to be replaced due to console failure, hospitalization, or another serious incident occurs rendering a player (or players) unable to play, contact an admin to have that player replaced with another player on your Squad Roster. Only players on your Squad Roster on the GGL.com site are permitted to participate in a match in this competition. If an illegal player is used, an Administrator must be notified before the start of the match or else there will be no penalty for the duration of the match.

WAITER!!!

I mean server.

Seems there's an issue with our clan name not showing up.
I told him it's CAG Members
At least I think that's what it is.

Give it a few more seconds.
