CAG Warhawk GGL Tourny *Done
Not unless u suppress those memories, with beer and therapy.
 alcohol indeed makes everything better. Well we tried our best and we got a good story out of it I guess (and maybe the fact that we're all now future alcoholics).

"In spirit" drinks for all, hope everyone recovers from this :whistle2:#
I think I had all the Warhawk I could possibly take today.
I started the CAG_Clan server up again, mainly booster maps, if anyone want to have fun.
I'm bored outta my mind... I'll be joining you in a bit. :)
Hope to see some of you guys join us. ;)
10 second respaws are for 15 vs 15 matches, not for the small match that we had..... 10 second respawns is what kicked our ass tonight!
I hear what you're saying, but we just disputed a match because the host didn't have 10 second respawns, so I sure wasn't going to change it.
^^^ You guys oughta join SmogItUp and I 'in spirit' for drinks. ;)

Anyone care to join us?
Already there buddy

I started the CAG_Clan server up again, mainly booster maps, if anyone want to have fun.

too soon... too soon

Quick off-topic question. I know this isn't the place or anything but if anyone on here owns a Wii and wants to buy some Wii points off me tonight let me know. I need to get rid of them before I pack up my Wii, which I'm doing early tomorrow morning.

If anyone is interested, I need to gift away ~4400 Wii points by tomorrow, and hopefully get Paypal for them. If not, they're gonna go to waste, so just let me know ASAP haha...

Since this seems to be a wake for our chances at winning, I'll drink with you.
Is there really no hope left?

Yeah going to rest from Warhawk for the rest of the evening. My ass is sore from that rapage we endured.
10 second respawns is what kicked our ass tonight!
I think it was more like the two tanks hanging out in our base for the entire round.
So, metaly, you said you saw in the GGL forum where they said that each game is two matches, with each team playing both sides, care to show me that post?
Here it is. You can see GGL Beef talking about it. I checked again and it does mention the switching thing in the rules, you just have to look way down:

Match Format: During the Stage 1 Ladders, all matches will be a single map only. During the Stage 2 Brackets, all matches will be best of 3 maps. In the event a map ends in a tie, restart the same map with the official game settings and continue to replay the map until a winner is determined. A single map will count as each team playing on both sides.

And yeah... Sounds like the bracket games go on for two hours. Yikes.
If anyone is interested, I need to gift away ~4400 Wii points by tomorrow, and hopefully get Paypal for them. If not, they're gonna go to waste, so just let me know ASAP haha...
I don't know if $40 for Wii points is in my budget right now, but just give them all to me for free before you throw them away!

Well no one has responded yet so PM me your Wii friend code (and games you want me to gift you) and I'll reply with mine, and gift you those games...

At this point I don't care about ass kickings, just gimme the knife, that's why I joined...

We should start being dicks about time and insist if the full team isn't there 5 mins after start, our win, whatever.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure that if they were in our position, they wouldn't think twice in reporting us for an easy win.
As I've previously mentioned... Rules are rules, and everyone has to respect them. I mean, we do... why can't they? My momma taught me that! ;)

Beef if a fuck idiot.

That needs to be in the announcement forum and put as a news item on the front fuck page of the tourny group.

I'm not playing any more matches unless I have to host.

What is the fuck point of a team picking a side, when both teams will play both sides anyways.

I don't think anyone in charge over there ever played Warhawk.

I knew my initial thoughts of that site were right.

I was about to take a picture showing it was after 11:40 and their team wasn't there yet, but their whole
"ITZ HAZ TOO BEE PLAER CLAN!!!"
thing made me worry they'd just claim we didn't have the server settings right. And I doubted my memory. I should have taken the picture anyways.
Create a player match and put on a password. Post the password in the Comments of the Match Communication page. From here.

Looks like the word filter doesn't work in
That is a really shi**y rule. This just makes things more complicated! :whistle2:x

Earlier this evening, I've taken some pics of the server with settings. I can provide those pics to you if you want 'em. They don't have a timestamp though. :(

Hell, at the very least I saw some excellent Tank drivers. Sheee-it! Damn, I've never feared Tanks over Warhawks until this match. Not to mention they had some veteran flyers. I've never seen a Warhawk pick off a ground solider so quickly with a missile before.

I know they were constantly driving tanks over to the spawn, so I'm guessing instead of taking points at the start, they focused on killing us, continually bringing Tanks over and had their Warhawk guys working as a ready reaction force: capping points, maintaining air superiority, and hunting down stragglers.

Oh well, just have to get better. -Yes, I'm crazy.

No, there isn't a point really.

I'm done taking this seriously and it sounds like a few of the more regular players are too.

Yeah, I guess you're right... We shouldn't be all worked up, since our original goal was to get the Ceremonial Knife after all! ;)

I'm over it. I never really expected to get anywhere near 1st place, especially since most of us are admitted casual Warhawk players. I'm mainly in it for the ceremonial knife, which we should now be getting, so I'm set. :)

I wouldn't mind playing a few more games just to see how some other teams compare, though. As it gets later into the tournament and people's ladder rankings better reflect their relative skill, we might get to have some pretty good matches.

We definitely should play more matches though. I'm not sure whether the rules state or not but it might only be for members who take part in a game. And I've been an alternate a couple of times but I haven't actually gotten into any games so far, haha... I do want that ceremonial knife, haha...

Yeah, we've two matches scheduled now and I have three challenges issued, so there will still be matches.

And I'll still try to get every in at least one game. Though it might not matter, check your GGL page, it says you have two loses, even though you never actually played. Thanks to everyone being on the roster. It'd still be nice to get a many people into a game just to be safe.

Oh and, I figure since GGL nor GGL's admins seem to take the tournament seriously, why should I.

This is what I did after the match.
1212308901193af1.jpg

Yea, well, we can keep playing til the end of June and maybe the end of the tournament as well, if we do well enough in the ladder phase. But it doesn't seem like it's very organized so we'll see how it goes...

I thought the matches where you switch sides were only for the 32 team bracket. But, I could be wrong because
fuck this fuck website, their fuck lazy ass fuck admins, and their fuck stupid fuck rules.
I dont feel bad about the loss, because the Respawn setting is what gave them the advantage. If the match was 15 vs 15, then Respawn at 10 seconds is good, but when its only 8 players then its too too long. Change the respawn and the whole outcome is different. I know it.. because I've seen that set up before, where people who want to win set the respawn at 10 seconds.

Mguiddy was at a GGL rule for the respawn to be set up at 10 seconds, or was that just something that was chosen.

Yeah, so did I... and most of the other teams.

The 10 second spawn time is in the rules set by GGL and cannot be changed.

I thought it was suspicious that we came in 2nd the practice round, yet there was 14 pages worth of teams... especially after playing GAF, it made me wonder "where are the other GAF-like teams? We really can't be that good". I think no one took the practice ladder seriously, and now they've come to play.

Just wondering in the intricate rule set, what does it say about tardiness? Since other teams are sticking to the rules so strictly, and now we know the proper server set up, we should follow the rules on other teams being late. We're good at showing up on time with all players, and we shouldn't give any teams easy points whether we're going to win or not, so "rules are rules".

Failure to show up to compete within 10 minutes of a scheduled match time will result in a forfeit loss (with point penalty) for the squad that does not show up, and a forfeit win for the squad that does.

Yea, I'm pretty much over it too. Didn't really expect to win the whole thing but you never want to get spanked for that kind of duration.

But things to look out for in the future, for small maps like ones in the competition, every vehicle is very important. So if you know your down a few zones, scuttle your vehicle once you enter enemy territory and use one of theirs. This is one of the reasons they had us pinned back so well, we had nothing to drive/fly. We either left our vehicle at an enemy zone or they just jacked ours.

Another thing they did well was working in teams. They seem split their team into groups of airmen and ground troops. This is a nice strategy to maximize our individual talents. For me I'm good in the air but not nearly as effective when I'm in a ground vehicle or turret.

But whatever, since most of us are casual gamers anyways going too hardcore for this tourney will shaqfu or cheap ass ways.

That's our CAG strategy from now on:

Forfeit 4 teh win!!1! \\:D/
That's our CAG strategy from now on:

Haha...
I'll definitely be taking pictures and following that rule for any further matches.

Get this... We were issued a challenge at around Noon eastern today. The proposed match time was today at 8pm eastern, and there was only one proposed time... I guessed they fixed the "automatic decline with no penalty on single time challenges" bug, but there appears to be a bug that prevents reschedule requests from going through with only one time, as I was going to do that. Now there's a strategy, challenge teams to matches only a few hours later only only give one proposed time, then when they don't respond... forfeit win!
Yay! Forfeit wins all the way to the top!! I really want a warhawk statue!
Check ebay after the tournament is over...

And if anyone wants to take over as leader let me know... I'd be more than happy to turn over the reigns.
Whatever happened to DanAD. Didnt you make him a clan leader?
I don't know what ever happened to him. Last I heard his girlfriend was making him take her everywhere. I did make him team/squad leader but their site was bugged (IMAGINE THAT!) and it didn't let him do anything. So I gave him my user id and password but he said he didn't want to do it, that I seemed more organized than him.
Who knows.
This is what I did after the match.

 I think everyone of us were like that afterwards. "May. 31st, 2008 a day that will live in infamy."
I remember running underneath the bridge and a CAG corpse drops by my feet  I'll never forget that.

I was checking out some of the upcoming matches and saw this comment on the Legion of Doom match details page: "never showed". The match isn't scheduled until next sunday, so the guy (not the leader BTW) is probably just confused.

And as far as I'm concerned, once we're sure everybody who wants the knife has qualified, I'm done. Sure I'll keep going as long as it's fun, but this seems to be quickly becoming more trouble than it's worth. And mguiddy, I don't think I've said it, but I appreciate all of the effort you've put into this.

from the sound of it I am glad I played in the first game - that one was clse and had a few lead changes .

Have we ever thought to get in on some public ranked servers where all of us are on one team? I hop into a few of those every so often and it seems like the hosting clan gets good practice in as far as working as a team.

Yes thanks mguiddy, you are doing a bang up job as clan leader. :grouphug:
Now that we've said it, you can't leave...

I think I can make the Thursday game for sure, how many matches do we need to play to qualify for the knife? I assume the Practice Ladder match doesn't count.

I agree with SoCal, all of us on a public server would be good practice, better than just against each other.

I think those were the guys that sent me a challenged at noon on the 1st wanting to play at 8pm on the 1st... needless to say that wasn't happening...
Nobody tell them, maybe they won't show for the game next week

I have no idea... I would assume it's just one game and you're getting the knife, but no one could ever get a clear answer from the admins in their forums, they just say "everyone that participates" and leaves it at that.
That said, everyone except for KingBroly and shady should be good, since you've all been on the roster for both matches we've played, and that's how (I think) they track everyones participation.

I thought about leaving the server open one Saturday... but like I said, I'll still deal with the challenges, but I'm about done with this farce.

I'm at work now and won't have internet at home for a week. FiOS can't install til next Monday.

I won't be on very much til then, even on the forums. Good luck in challenges and I hope we're still taking/making them by the time I get back haha...

There's a good chance that I won't be able to make it to ANY of the GGL matches for a week or so. I'm moving into a new home and getting internet there may take some time... I start moving on Wednesday.

Sorry mguiddy... :'(

I'll let you know when I can start playing again as soon as I have everything set up in my new place.

Yea just use me as an alternate for the upcoming matches, next week is finals week so I dont know when I will be available.

The 5th & 8th I am sure I will be able to attend. Saturday matches are usually a problem unless really late, so no to the 7th. Not sure about anything beyond that.

So far things look like this... We need at least five people per day (preferably 6 or 8 though), let me know if you can make a day.

5th
 1. cthulhu
 2. Stranded
 3. Super
 4. zen
 5. xxx
 6. godly
 7. smog
7th
 1. SoCal
 2. Stranded
 3. metaly
 4. zen
 5. xxx
 6. godly
 7. smog
8th
 1. cthulhu
 2. SoCal
 3. Stranded
 4. Super
 5. xxx
 6. godly
 7. smog
 1. metaly
10th
 1. Stranded
 2. Super
 3. zen
 4. smog
 5. godly (maybe)
Also, I don't know if anyone noticed but they overturned the DnD game because of the wrong server settings... They didn't seem to be happy about it. They act like it's our responsibility to make sure they set up the server correctly. Ohh, and they ask why we didn't tell them... wasn't team switch off?
They said we "lived up to our name." Feel free to defend our honor... or not, I could care less.
