CAGFC (UFC 2009 League) - HW's Only! New Site! Details Inside!
Dude, go fuck yourself. I'm fortunate that I can check CAG frequently because I work from home. I realize that. But it's horseshit if somebody can't check the thread once a day. And the only reason anyone might struggle to get their fight done is by not knowing how to communicate like an adult. The reason it happens is because most people rely on the "I'm online now. Maybe my opponent is on." strategy. If you have a busy schedule, that's MORE of a reason to communicate and set up a time to meet your opponent. Saying "I have a life!" is just a fucking copout. Grow the fuck up. And get off my nuts.
Just because someone is busy for one week doesn't mean they will be busy every week. People have schedules that constantly change, it can be difficult for two adults that live in different parts of the country to find a time where both are free to play on XBL at the same time. When we all signed up for this league we had no idea what the fuck our schedules would be like even one week ahead.

Just because a couple fights haven't got done in the tournament yet doesn't mean the people involved don't want to participate. And why the fuck do you treat your leagues like the fucking military anyways? Do you walk around wearing a t-shirt saying "Online Leagues: It's Serious Business"? I mean seriously I know we want to keep things moving along but for fuck's sake settle down.
Have you tried PM'ing Gillums to see if either of your schedules lined up at all?
Yeah I did PM him but the problem is that I haven't been working consistent hours so I couldn't suggest a time to him. We got in touch with each other but that doesn't mean we could set up a time when it worked out for both of us.
Yeah I did PM him but the problem is that I haven't been working consistent hours so I couldn't suggest a time to him. We got in touch with each other but that doesn't mean we could set up a time when it worked out for both of us.
I can understand that. The problem is there's a balance to these things (and it would be great if your brother could stop blindly defending you for one second and realize this). I blame this moreso on the tournament format than anything else, but sure, some people are going to have stuff going on, and not have as much time to play the game as others. That's a given. So, the best thing I can do is give a reasonable amount of time that you could expect everybody to get their fights in.

Some guys will get theirs done right away, others will have problems sync'ing up, and others won't put forth any effort at all. So, where do you draw the line? A week later, the guys who got their fights in are now bored (and possibly losing interest), the guys who couldn't sync up are probably just as busy as before, and the guys who didn't make an effort probably still don't give a shit. The reason I push is for the benefit of CAGFC as a whole...in an effort to be fair to everybody.

Personally, I feel that seven days is plenty of time to fight one 15 minute fight. I realize your fight with Gillums has only been up for about 4 days, but since your fight before that didn't happen either, it starts to make a guy wonder, ya know. Regardless of all that, what do you think a good solution is? If I don't make any moves at all, when do you think you'll get your fight in? Is there any point to waiting? Just being realistic here cause a lot of guys are waiting on a few people.

I was watching a movie on my 360, and my TV just died. As in, the power went off for no discernible reason, and now it won't turn back on. Thus, I have no video games and no TV/movies. I sure as hell can't afford a new TV. FML.

I would like to get my fight with Gillums in but it could be more of the same for me the next 2 or 3 days. By Wednesday or Thursday I will have much more time to participate in these fights. I just decided that I should forfeit since I don't want to hold things up for a few more days. So like I said just advance Gillums and I should be able to participate in the next Tournament/Fight Card since my schedule will become much more flexible.

Damn Matt, that sucks! Especially since your TV was the reason your returned your PS3 and got a Wii instead. Then, it just up and dies on you?!? What a bitch! lol. The only thing I can think to tell you is to have a repair guy look at it. If it's just the power supply, it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new set. Although, two months ago, you were going to buy a new TV anyway. I doubt your credit with BestBuy has changed at all, but there are alternatives you could explore.

That's fine with me, man. That's all I really want out of people. I know life can be a bitch sometimes. But just be real about it. Think of the other guys involved. And we can all coexist. My dillemma is always "if everybody loses interest, there won't be anything left when we're finally ready to move on". I think that's why I come off as an ass a lot of times. But..fuck it. Nobody likes Dana White either, lol :)
I wanted to buy a new TV then, but couldn't afford it without being able to make payments. Now, I'm a lot more broke than I was then.
Well, to avoid having all your games, movies, etc. become worthless, you might have to pick up something cheap (even a *shudder* 19 inch SDTV off of Craigslist or something). That would at least get you by until you can save up for something nice. Otherwise, you might as well sell off your shit and start over.

I wasn't blindly defending anyone, I wrote paragraphs explaining my thoughts on the matter, that's not blindly defending something. Also don't tell me to grow up, I didn't tell you to go fuck yourself or threatened to beat you up Online to prove my game mastery. Now that I've said that I'm done with this whole thing now. Just cut people some slack when they are a little tardy on their fights.

Blake Garber def. Jay Gillums by Armbar @ 4:07 of Round 1

Were were finally able to play our match, I'm glad it was lag free. Good fight Gillums, I'd say you were probably winning the stand-up battle.

Whatever man. You've been throwing out insults at people for 2 days on this thread and the other UFC thread, but yet I'm the one attacking people. If you can't comprehend why it might be fair to others to make sure the tournament kept moving along, I'm not going to spell it out for you.

Ha Ha. That joke about Matt's Best Buy Credit is priceless really. :D

Also I think alot of us traded in NHL09 for this and thus alot of us NHL 09 CAG's are here for the tournament and playing against other NHL 09'rs. But we always had a set schedule for a Friday. Sure some would be late but we played. Hell, I have my month already planned in advanced actually with work and the weekends. But that's just what I like in my life. An Organized one. But whatever. Also i think Nate said it best in the other thread.

WTF? I hadn't posted in this thread before today in almost a week. I have only posted twice in the official game thread this week, telling the one guy who asked what difficulty to play on to play on a difficulty that was challenging and to not play on Beginner, which I feel is totally weak. You took offense to what I said, which apparently means I have been bashing people left and right in both threads the last two days which is COMPLETE HORSESHIT.

The only person I am attacking in these threads is you because you come off to me like a total douche bag who thinks that he is doing everyone in these tournaments a great and honorable service by running the league. Get over your fucking self. It's not like my 5 year-old cousin couldn't put together a tournament for each division if he had to.

wow

It stated this was a weekly thing in the first post, and if there was an issue people should've realized that before signing up. Life gets in the way though and that's why there's an option to forfeit. It's not a big deal since it's not like virtual records mean much anyway.

This is pretty funny in the context of the earlier comment about taking this too seriously. Someone needs to take their blood pressure medication. It's for fun dude. If you're not having it, GTFO.

I'm not about to jump in the middle of any arguments. But I have been reading cgarb's posts in Bas Rutten's voice, and it is awesome.

Fear not, true believers! I have returned! I managed to call upon the ancient power of borrowing money from a family member who doesn't expect you to pay them back right away! As such, I replaced my old, recently deceased 52" rear projection TV with this- Proscan 40" 1080p LCD TV.

I was going for the biggest, cheapest 1080p set I could find at that price range, that had decent-good reviews. I saw that one for $550 and I am very satisfied. It'll take some getting used to, having a 40" screen rather than a 52". But this one doesn't cut off the edges of stuff like game HUDs and ESPNews scores (stuff near sides of screen).

And WOW... games looked excellent in 1080i on my rear projection, but UFC is so much brighter and just more vibrant and alive on the LCD screen. It's too bad I don't have a 360 with an HDMI port. My HD DVR has one, but I don't think TV shows go higher than 1080i anyway.

It's amazing how much better looking HD content is on this LCD TV, when it looked so good on my old projection set. The colors... I can taste them.

Okay, nerdgasm over.

EDIT: Almost forgot. The irony of all this? (Nate knows the story) I had bought a PS3 and surround sound system months ago. The PS3 wouldn't work with my non-HDMI, non-720-displaying old TV. So I returned the SS system in order to get more money toward a potential new TV. I was only given a $500 credit line from Best Buy, however, so no TV. I returned the PS3 and got a Wii. Now, though I love my Wii, I have just become an owner of a TV that will run the PS3, and the only flaw the TV has is its tiny speakers. Surround sound would be great right now.

Nice, Matt! I had thought of another option for you, but this one seems better. I was going to suggest that you buy a pair of hot pants and stand out on your busiest street corner. But a family member who doesn't expect you to pay them back right away is a useful tool. It's just too bad you can't play MLB 09 now, haha. ;)

Wooo I finished my career. I am a 78 overall. Was a learning curve, played on advances. He isnt a perfect 90 something dude and I didnt even come close to being undefeated but I am very happy with him. Someone hit me up for some fights if you ever see me online.

Blake Garber def. Jay Gillums by Armbar @ 4:07 of Round 1

Good fight. I didn't play it very smart. I should have been just standing up instead of screwing around on the ground.

I'm assuming everyone playing through a career finds at least 1 fighter that no matter what they do can't beat? Mine was GSP, he completely dominated me the two times I fought him. I was just happy I was able to get to the 2nd Round one time before he pounded me out. If he was the champion the entire time in my career I never would've won the belt. Thank God Thiago Alves was the champion for a while, I was able to beat him twice for the belt.

EDIT: I guess this makes more sense being posted in the official game thread, will post it there

Sorry I don't have a character yet, but I'm still into being in the league. I think I'm just going to make one without the career mode soon and then try to make and improve a similar guy in career mode. If any of you guys would like some practice fights though I'm definitely ready to play everyone.

I read the first post and I see that we're trying to use career CAFs, but for the sake of getting involved quicker could I use my CAF that I made outside of the career mode? It's not like he's maxed out or anything and I'll switch once the other guy has improved.
Just a bump to prevent this thread from going to page 2.. Hows the fights going? How many do we have left?
There are 3 fights left.

HW - Blake Garber vs Gary Russell

MW - Eric Ortiz vs Matt Young

LW - Manny Pacquiao vs Andrew Kennel

I'd hate to rush anybody, so I guess we're just trusting that these fights will get done in the near future.

Yeah, that should be fine. I think exhibition CAFs max out around the upper 70s (at least that's what's been reported), so it won't be like you'll have an advantage. But, at the same time, he won't get any better either. So, you'll definitely want to replace him when your career CAF passes him.

Well, I'm just waiting back on Blakes reply. I told him anytime any day is good for me really. But nothing back. You know I usually get my fights done within the days or so.

I don't know about an exact time but I should have some time tomorrow to get our fight in.

I shall be on. Just set me up a time. Or seeing that your on we could do it now, unless your on your phone or something. Damn new phones these days lol.

@ AK; I was online last night and will be online later unless you are planning to hop on now.

Offtopic: TUF 10, Kimbo Slice, I'm sold; this should be interesting.
Hey, i blame that on myself complicating the controls for no reason.
haha, well at least you blame it on yourself ;)

Okay here are my fighter's stats. These may change a little as I continue to tweak him, but it's finalized for the most part.

Name: Matt "The Doctor" Domoracki
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 235
Fighting Styles: Boxing & Wrestling
Overall Rating: 82

Dang, That was an Awesome three rounds BG88. Never been to three rounds before. But none the less, Awesome fight.

Gary Russell | Blake Garber | Gullitone Choke | 1:11 Round 3

Wow! Congratulations to Gary "The Headhunter" Russell, CAGFC's first ever Heavyweight Champion! It sounds like Gary won a very competitive fight over Blake Garber. Russell locked in a guillotine choke at 1:11 of the third round. Under Gary's name in the fighter list, you will now find this:

CONGRATS GARY!!!

We've got two championship fights left, guys, in the middleweight and lightweight divisions.

MW - Eric Ortiz vs Matt Young

LW - Manny Pacquiao vs Andrew Kennell

Let's get these done as soon as possible. It doesn't look like we'll be having a card for this coming Saturday, but there's no reason we can't have one for June 13th. This would be pretty cool because it would coincide with UFC 99 that same night. Either way, moving on to the cards would really help us jumpstart this league.

Gary Russell def. Blake Garber by Guillotine Sub. at 1:11 of Round 3

That was one hell of a fight. I had that Kneebar so close at the end of Round 2, that turned out to be my last desperate attempt to finish the fight. I think that was my first online fight that went to a 3rd round. Good fight.

Can't wait to see who wins the Andrew Kennell and Matt Young fight honestly. I Wish there was an option where we could actually join the match as a spectator. That would be really cool. Also it was a hard fought battle for the belt. I'd like to thank Buddha and of course Matt Hughes for training me in the camps and all the other competitors I had to fight to get this belt! lol

I was literally yelling at my TV while button mashing to avoid that Kneebar. I was like. Oh god, Second stage of submission.....NOOO!!! Somehow in some way I broke out of it. I'm surprised I caught you with the Guillotine choke how ever. I wasn't expecting to even put it on you just to bring you down with a slam honestly. I must have clicked the right stick in by accident somehow lol. But none the less. First fight online for me as well to hit the 3 round mark. Was one hell of a fight none the less.

Sorry about the wait, i will be able to fight now. Been really busy and told my brother to fight for me but i guess he never did. I'll get to you on XBL young.

I never heard anything today, so please get at me soon.

Anyone else, I'd love to do some exhibitions. I've only really played with Nate and Vulcan, and then a tourney match with Moo.

I don't think we're ever on at the same time, but if we are, I'm up for some exhibition. Been awhile since I played, think I'm probably a bit rusty.

I say this from the bottom of my heart, with the most sincere kindness and friendship, but COMMUNICATE YOU LAZY MOTHERfuckERS! lol, jesus, how difficult is it to send (or respond) to a PM to let somebody know when you'll be available to play a 10 minute fight? This "Oh darn, I guess I missed you" shit is infantile. I'll leave you with an example that you can try for yourselves.

Lazy CAG #1
: Hey Johnny, I was wondering when you'd be able to do our fight for the CAGFC league. I'll be available tonight and tomorrow any time from 7 to 10 PM EDT. Let me know if either of those works for you.

Lazy CAG #2: Hi Billy! I'm glad you messaged me. I've really been wanting to get our fight done so the league can move forward, and everyone won't be waiting on us anymore. I have plans tonight, but tomorrow at 8:30 PM EDT sounds great! Maybe, afterward, we can have some chocolate milk and watch "Leave It to Beaver". Gee golly! That sure does sound like a lot of fun! See you then!

Lazy CAG #1: Tomorrow at 8:30 PM EDT sounds perfect Johnny! I'll see you then. PS. My mom bought be a new decoder ring today! It's neato!

Amazing how revolutionary that concept is isn't it?

Well, sleepy never PM'ed me or messaged me on Live. All I got was that post right up there. I want to finish and have a new card on Saturday!
