CAGLS: Madden 13 Gentlemen's League - We Finished! Thanks for Playing!

I have someone who might want the Saints.

Also, Browns beat Ravens 17-10. Very solid game. It was mostly ball control for me and Brady had a near perfect game, even if his stats didn't stand out. Had some trouble with Ray Rice, which I figured I would since I've been having trouble with most backs. Browns now 3-1. 3 game winning streak. Hopefully we can keep this up.

Still looking to improve my defense(secondary) and the right side of my offensive line as well as the TE/WR position.

Yeah, I appreciate the offer to help out. But I'd prefer to not bring in one of the top players from the other league. I'm really not sure of the range in skill in here as it is...and while I don't view all of us as "lesser players" anymore, I don't want there to be a lot of blowouts either. At the very least, having a placeholder guy coming in and kicking people's asses doesn't seem like a good idea, lol. ;)

i talked to my buddy thats on the waiting list he said he would take them and that he tried to post but when he registered it didnt go thru for some reason and that he re-registered this morning wont be able to post until wednesday but if u send him an invite to the league he will be good to go and until he can post on wednesday whoever plays him just contact me and i will contact him and play the middle man

I'm ok with that as long as he's active and understands the rules. Most of it is outlined in the OP, but I kind of get the feeling that some people haven't bothered to read it, considering some of the issues we've had.
 
i will make sure to talk to him and tell him he needs to read the first pages rules and guidelines. ive played him a handful of times and he doesnt play like a douche
 
Ok, finally got the free agency "draft" groups together. Just want to give everyone a heads up so they can start thinking about who they want to sign and release. The rules for signing a free agent are as follows:

FA Pickup Rules

1. We will pick up Free Agents from the list in 8 groups (based on inverse standings). I will post a list of the draft order and then allow the first 4 teams a set amount of time to pick. It is first-come first-served based on that order, so team #1 doesn't have preference over team #2 and so on.

I decided to make the groups smaller this year to give the lower ranked teams a fair shot at getting the player they want. However, to make up for this, the amount of time between groups won't be as large. If you miss your "window of exclusivity", of course you can still choose a free agent. But don't be surprised if a team with a better record gets the guy you wanted. It pays to keep up with the thread.

2. Any player currently on the FA wire may be picked up, regardless of positional need. The same restrictions which apply to injury replacements do not apply here.

3. When it is your group's turn, you must post in this thread who you are picking up. Do not just add them in the game. Once you've posted here, you can then add them. If you pick someone up in game, but someone else claimed them here first, they get the player.

4. You must drop a player if your team has 53 players. If for some reason, you have less than 53 players on your team, you will not be required to drop a player, but you may still do so if you would like. With the inclusion of salaries this year, I think forcing a one for one move is less important than in years past. And after the first season, this won't be an issue again anyway.

5. Even if you're not at your console, you can still pick. Claiming someone here saves him for you, even if someone else gets on their 360 first.

ya i was confused how i wasnt in the first group with only 1 win then i checked the standing and holy shit 1 win put me in group 3. theres alot of guys without a loss in the league to go with the guys with none

Close game in Denver! Much closer than the score indicates. The 31st ranked defense really stepped it up today, and it appears my defensive studies have helped. Offense played fairly well.

I really wanted to challenge that 3rd and 1 call in the 1st quarter on the opening drive, definitely thought I got the 1st down with McFadden but pressed A too fast after the play as I tend to do and couldn't pause it once the play was called. Your defense was really good. I chose to receive first knowing you had the top offense in the league so far and second to last defense, thought I needed a quick score to keep pace.
 
Chargers hold off the Chiefs to win 31-28. Really good game. Before we played I told myself over and over to not throw or force any dumb passes, as I have a terrible habit of doing that. I only threw one pick and it was a dumb forced pass that I knew it was a pick as soon as I threw it. Other then that though, I did pretty good. Cool did a great job shutting down my running game as I really couldn't get anything going. My defense came through though with I think 3 picks. One of them returned for a TD. He really started to get his offense going near the end of the game, which gave me a scare when he scored to put it within three. There was only like 39 seconds or so and I was able to recover the onside kick and run the clock out. Good game.
 
u guess the first round guys arent very interested in Fa's i know i got my eye on a couple of players but i know one for sure isnt going to be there but i can wish lol

yea im right there with bro i have to spots that desperatly need to be filled and i know exactly who i want to fill them with just need people to hurry up or for N8 to say group 2 go and then wait for my group 3 to start and hope they dont go missing
 
You can update my availability on the first page. I'm on the East Coast now, for good thankfully. I am available weekdays after 3:45 and weekends at almost anytime(but weekdays are preferred). :p

Luckily I've been able to schedule games with every opponent so far and it's been very nice being able to work it out and play a human opponent. :)

That is correct. Just one free agent for now. We may do another round of free agency later in this first season. But once we reach the offseason, this draft style will no longer be necessary since we'll be able to negotiate with players after that.
 
Honest havent looked at the FA list, so not too sure even whats there. I'll be a bit busy tonight, not even sure I'll be able to get on the Xbox, but if I need to be skipped, feel free to do so.
 
Just to make sure this isn't the thing holding us up, we're not going through the groups one team at a time. As long as it is your group's turn to pick a free agent (or beyond your group's turn), you can choose someone. So, we're not specifically waiting on Jacksonville here. Any team in group 1 could make a selection right now.

Do we say who we want first and then sign them or vice versa?
 
Idk how I want to present this but figured I would say something cause it did piss me off. Dude fuck goes 5 wide with time running down and runs it twice with his QB in the final 45 secs to get in field goal range. Everyone went deep and then he runs with QB, obviously he knew what he was trying to do. I am mainly pissed cause that drive decided the game.

Really getting tired of people not understanding what "play right" means. Though, one has to wonder if this is karma, as I just read about you doing a squib kick and recovering it to kick a field goal in the other league. Sooo yeah...

Seriously, people CUT THE SHIT! It's one thing for people to need every subtle nuance of "don't be a dick" spelled out for them. But the rules are in the OP. Whether you give a damn to take the time to read them or not, you're responsible for knowing them. It should also be known that I don't screw around. Anybody who proves to be bad for the league and has multiple complaints against them, I have no qualms kicking out. It's happened before.

I'm not going to repeat again that this league is about far more than who has the most points at the end of the game. You might think you're a bad ass just destroying teams and asserting your video game football dominance, but nobody is going to want to play you. Get it through your thick ass heads and straighten the fuck up.

I knew you'd be on here bitching. Funny coming from someone who used FB DIVE 3 times. That is literally the cheapest run play in the game. That's is why it's banned except for 1-time use in my other leagues. Anyways, here is the WHOLE story..

3rd and 15ish from deep in my territory, 1 timeout. I go 5 wide and get a first down. Obviously I go no huddle. Dude rushes TWO guys. TWO. What am I supposed to do here? It's not like I ran teh ball as soon as I hiked the ball. I even went thru my reads and nobody was open. Am I supposed to throw it into double coverage? Or throw it out of bounds? Half my linemen were just standing there, blocking NOBODY. WTF... If I'm not allowed to run in this situation, you could literally rush 2 every pass down and not have to worry about it. It wasn't like, oooh i'm going to go 5 wide and then run. I was 5 wide on THIRD down, and ran no huddle with less than a minute left. How is rushing 2 and dropping 9 "playing right"? I literally looked down at my QB and saw nobody. NEVER had the intention of running until it was presented. And it wasn't the first time I went 5 wide the whole game either.. if I was going to do this to exploit it, how come I didnt do it earlier on other 3rd downs?

If that's what really happened, then you have a point. The problem we ALWAYS get in these situations is that the stories are so far apart. I agree, if he's dropping back 9 into coverage, and you're not taking off immediately, it's a legit play. No one would expect you to force a throw into double and triple coverage. As with previous issues we've had, for now, it's going to have to be his word vs yours. But obviously, this isn't a complaint you want people having against you again. So, take that under advisement.

As for the FB dive thing...I really don't understand how that is a cheap play. There was a huge issue with QB Sneaks in last years game...but I know I've stuffed 3rd and 1's plenty to know that this isn't an exploit. I really don't see how it's any different than the argument of dropping 9 back into coverage. If you can't go to your power back on 3rd and short, it gives the defense an unfair advantage...just as not being allowed to run with your QB when every receiver is blanketed would.

I just want to stress the "play right" mantra wasn't specifically directed at you. I feel like we've had several players tip toeing the line between good sportsmanship and being a douche because they don't want to lose lately. I just wanted to remind everyone that one person complaining about you is just their opinion. But if multiple people make the same complaint, it starts to gain traction, and becomes an issue. Lets not let that happen.

Glad to have you back. But yeah, DVO has a guy in the process of taking the Saints. The Vikings are also available though since Rapid Shot never bothered to respond after getting angry about a game. Let me know if you want Minnesota and they're yours.

Most likely tomorrow morning. I'd estimate 9-10 AM CST. And I'm about to send your guy the invite right now. I told steggy to go ahead and play the CPU for Packers/Saints though because he's going out of town Wednesday...and I didn't think it was fair to have to scramble to set something up for tomorrow.
