Well, aside from the brain tumor developing just beneath your skull, i could not imagine spending over $1000 in hardware, or even just the idea of owning every system; it goes against the idea of being a cheap ass gamer. Even if video gaming is your primary hobby, do you really NEED every console? Do you really NEED to play EVERY single-platform game? Do you really NEED a 3DS, PSP? Sure, it's nice to wish, but when it comes down to brass tacks, what the hell are you going to do with 5 game systems? If you were to play each console/system a fair amount, you'd never have any free time!
Um, ok. So you're studying the correlation between playing video games and developing brain tumors? Where is this published?

And you're saying what you spend $1,000 on is somehow better than what someone else spends $1,000 on? Maybe I have them all so I don't have to have sour grapes like you.

For the person that tag the thread a mod or cheapyD Will find you and banned your A$$

Next time you want to complain about someone giving you an opportunity to win a prize, do it somewhere else. I hardly ever post in the forums, and have been a member for just under a year. That doesn't give you more "right" than myself to enter a contest. And if I remember correctly...there WAS a ticket available for "loyal" users. Not every single random user has made a list that's obtained top 10 status. If you didn't get your extra chance, then you must not be such a "loyal" cheap ass gamer. Therealnumbertwo could be a die-hard CAGCast fan, for all you know. Does he still deserve less of an opportunity to win than you? Maybe he started listening 3 yrs ago, and only just joined the website; I started listening about 6 or 7 months before I joined. Yea, it sucks...but in reality, you had a better chance of winning a CAG contest than any other national promotion. Don't get me wrong though, I'm pretty damn disappointed, myself. Another day, another contest :D
Heh....Noob lurkers gotta stick together. Just under a year...damn you suck at math AND a good arguement. See your posts next contest, lunchbox.

Personally, I thought the tags were creative and funny :p

Yea, but Shrike or someone posted you'll lose your ability to tag if you put stupid tags like that.
Yea, but Shrike or someone posted you'll lose your ability to tag if you put stupid tags like that.
It wasn't it! It did make me laugh though *^_^*
I have all those system, cept I'm not interested on a kinect... What's wrong with having all the systems?
^ Im with you, though I review games... Its not hard to see that there are going to be games for systems you want.

The wii and the xbox/ps3 have completely different markets/games. While I agree its agaisnt the spirit, you can always share the wealth and give it to a gamer whos cheaper than you =P. My friend recently got a ps2 making that his latest system.

for the person who won... while it sucks a 1 post person won, to be fair there are so few who "gave enough back" where it would be cool. I rather someone with more posts won... but to be fair there is a transverse relationship who post more and having more games IE less need for said prizes. (this is a educated guess that is)
6 months does not almost a year make:hot:
While I can't apologize on your mother's behalf for not making you complete high school, I can apologize for my own mistype. I meant to say that I've been listening to CAGCast for just about a year. I joined the site several months following. You might not develop a brain tumor from playing an excessive amount of video games, but COME ON! Go read a book...maybe about David Cross? Reading random lists of t-shirts found in Urban Outfitters?

If I had $1000 to spend, I would put it towards my student loan debt, so...yes. I know that's not really what you meant, but that's what I'd do.

And by the way...please correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you get a 2x multiplier on your tickets if you've been a CAG member for over a year? From what I've seen, it seems pretty damned fair that the veteran CAGer's have double the opportunities. If I were like some of the posters, I could say how you all have an unfair advantage!

Well at least good game. However I think the prizes were too much skewed. To me, if I was going to win something at least spread them out. This way no one will take advantage of somebody hence the one time posters. (I was once a newb poster but thats because there aren't good deals in my area.)
Future contests should be restricted to users that have joined over a year and 100 posts. It's sad how these n00bs get to win.
These types of contests are to bring more people to CAG I believe, so why restrict like that? If anything, I'd make a 10 post, so atleast they have to contribute something to CAG, and not just join so you can win a contest, which is clearly what this guy is doing. Or maybe we were all wrong, and this person will become Famous, Respected, and Active, but only time will tell.
I sorted expected someone who created multiple accounts and e-mails to win.
It was bound to happen.

/me wonders if the IP on the dude's account is also used in 200 other accounts.
Well congrats to the winner. That's how it is with random contest anyway well I'm sure CheapyD checks for multiple accounts and emails.
He does.

Wow, that's a lot of complaining.

When you purchase lottery tickets, the more you buy, the more loyalty you have, and thus you deserve to win much more than other people, correct? And if someone only buys one ticket and wins the grand prize, do they not deserve it at all solely because they didn't waste as much money as you?

I bet half of you guys would go to a casino thinking it's your lucky day.

:applause:
I am excited to be entered - still trying to snag a PSP black friday deal combo, all sold out online!
Hate to spoil your bubble, but the contest is over, and the winner announced.
Wow, a one post lurker won...Not that any of us had a better chance, but it is disheartening.
The fact that some one post lurker won means this contest is truly random (and fair from Cheapy's side), which is awesome and I really appreciate the fact that CheapyD did this. I'd probably be more suspicious if someone with an average of 20 posts per day won - it would feel like this is a good-old-boy contest and since I don't "contribute" as much, I have no chance of winning and it would probably drive me away from participating. Again: props for making it completely random!

And while I'd hate to add more contestant remorse into the pool (besides it is against the spirit of Thanksgiving!) and honestly I didn't try really hard to win and wasn't expecting to, and yes it is true my 20+ posts may make me a lurker -- BUT -- for future contests I really have to ask this: what sort of quality controls are in place for these types of contests?

What prevents me from making 20-30 dummy accounts (around the time the contest is announced) and getting 5-10 tickets with each? This may not seem like alot, but a 5% chance of winning as opposed to a .01% chance of winning is HUGE! Having done some handicapping myself, I know people have gambled way more on less odds.

I understand some of the potential counter arguments: this user registered before the contest was announced (11/9 as opposed to 11/10) and were all friends so who here on CAG would do that? To the first point, if I were cheating, I'd play around with the timezones to make it look like I was registering before the contest was announced to cover my tracks or maybe the timezone the message was posted in was different from the user's timezone - by several hours. To the second point, there is the gray area every CAG knows well and that is the exploit. How many of you signed up for different accounts for Google cash back or other type programs? How many of you have returned new games to other stores to get credit? The steaks (and reward) are much higher in this contest so basic game theory (no pun intended) dictates that you would do the exact same thing here.

I love the CAG community and it has helped my cheapass save a lot of money. And I really want to send props to "thenewnumbertwo" - but without looking at the new user registration statistics, I also have to wonder if "pinkpnay", " (registered also on 11/9 1 post with 6 awards), "trickyM66" and "uvmonkey75" (same reg dates and stats) are the same person or someone else. Again, this is a relatively small sample and it would take much more time to compile something... but I can see why some of the suspicions are justified.

Again, please don't take this as a sour grapes type argument - I'm happy with the benefits CAG has provided me - just wanted to give some food for thought!
Will we know if the person claimed the prize, just in case we're aren't all waiting for him to forget?
His profile says he was on three hours ago, so don't hold your breath.

I never get my hopes up for these contests anyway, so no disappointment! Of course i would prefer to see something like 100 posts or 1 year of membership, etc, but those restrictions are pointless when the aim of these contests is to bring in new memberships. So what if this guy is a 1 post lurker (if he is), this contest may have brought in a couple hundred new people.

Also, just because someone isn't posting doesn't mean they don't frequent the site? I've lurked on many a forum.
Only one person can win. Complaining about it because you didn't just makes you petty.

Congrats to the winner.
Exactly! Cheapy handles the contests in the most fair way there can be...everyone has a fair chance. Who cares if it's someone that's been here since 2003 or someone that just joined and his first post was for the contest. His name popped up and he won. I also think it's pretty fucking hilariously awesome he won with his first ever CAG post. :D

Congrats to thenewnumbertwo!

Considering one of the raffle entry methods is to tweet about the contest, it really shouldn't be surprising that some newbies are going to check out the site/contest as a result. I'm sure the winner isn't the only guy that joined the site this past month, but I won't be combing the site and checking for post counts because it isn't worth wasting my time on.

In my opinion, sonicradiation does have some valid points/concerns. I am sure others here might feel the same way. However, this does show that the contest and selection of the winner is completely random and fair. Regardless, congrats thenewnumbertwo on winning.
fucking bullshit fuck this site i should of won
I agree... you *detinitely* deserved it

I really hope the site rules allow for banning ungrateful dipshits like this kid
I am a psychic. I will win.
Most people at least have a hindsight 20/20. You, apparently, should focus on knowing the past before trying to predict the future.
