Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info
Does prestige mode still factor in TrueSkill? So newbies don't get plastered by ubervets that reset to Level 1?
I dunno if CoD has Trueskill ranking. I routinely get thrown in to matches with guys who are level 15 or 20-something.

But Your rank or level in CoD is no indication of your skill, just the amount of time you have to play.

It had trueskill indicaters in the beta, but I haven't seen them in the gold version. I would hope they just removed them and not the whole system.

Hrm. I was just over at Infinity Ward's boards, and I couldn't find any info about the Trueskill issue. Sure are a lot of whiny bitches in the 360 forums there, though. Also didn't realize Trueskill was solely a MS thing until just now, either. What the heck do they use for matching people up on the PS3? Don't tell me it's random.

the level system in COD isn't based on really how badass you are, more of how much time you put in. i mean you can't really lose rank and the rank doesn't really determine who you play against from what i've noticed.

They're already tracking your accuracy, win:loss and kill:death ratio so if they wanted to I'm sure they could bypass Truskill(which I've never been impressed with) and make their own algorithm.

Just got the game from Amazon after their sale a few days ago and played for like 15 minutes last night (girlfriend came over). Loved what I played thus far and loved the beta, so I'm pumped for it.

Hope to see some CAGs in MP.

I've really fallen in love with the Silencer+UAV Jammer perk combo. I went 34-14 tonight in a round of team deathmatch using the Scorpion, which has to be by far the worst weapon I've used so far. But with that combo it makes it really easy to sneak behind the enemy and just decimate.

i just hit the first prestige mode and its pretty cool having to earn your weapons again and such, brings back the feeling that you actually have to try again. im only at lvl 12 and im just so damn glad the UAV Jammer is lvl 11 cause that seriously is the best perk in the world.

level where you had to carry the captain at the end made me cuss many times and almost died getting on the helicopter guys where blocking it

Although the shotty on the second floor with the flash bangs makes the end of the level easy.
Once you get upstairs you really don't shoot your gun too much. Toss Flash Bangs into the far rooms and keeping moving forward. There are 3 more flash bangs sitting on a counter if you need them in the 2 room upstairs. You squad will actually move and take out enemies pretty fast upstairs but the key is you need to be the leader and keep moving.
If you think the Scorpion sucks, try the mini-uzi. After I finally got my 150 kills with that thing I swore I would never touch that pos gun again no matter what.

I do love my 'Ninja' class tho. Silenced MP5, UAV Jammer, and the extra sprint perk. I run around the map like a shadow. I can sprint soo much that by time the guy I just killed comes back to find me, Im on the other side of the map.

I've got the exact same setup labled as "Ghost"

Ninja/Ghost Classes do not work. You might get them to work against some shitty newbs but it won't work against most people I play with or against.

I wish we could setup some CAG's games.

Our Team:

Trakan
Zewone
Casey Ryback
JimmieMac
Brax
SirSML
Myself
Any 6 of those.

Your Team:

Anyone you want with your "Ghost/Ninja" tactics.

We would mos def win. That shit wouldn't even be close. :D

The only thing I hate about the ninja class isn't the ninja class itself. It's that you work your way around the map, but every now and then, you have a teammate spawn with guns blazing, and also its pointless after your first kill since their teammates will be alerted if the person you killed has any sense at all (hooray for run-ons). Its a bit easier to run ninja on smaller maps like vacant though, since you are moving alot anyways, and most people will look at their radar.

I forgot to add that I use a smoke grenade for that class. So If Im spotted or ever trapped in a corner, I can pop smoke and dissapear back into the shadows. :D

Well a 'Ninja' type class is always gonna be most effective on a public server against random strangers anyway. And its not even effective for every map or gametype. Its also not even my 'main' class.

A dedicated group of experienced players working together will usually overcome any sort of chicanery/tricks.

That said, send me a FR, I'd love to play with you guys. Im not too shabby at the game you know. :D

You definitely can't have a whole team of ninjas/ghosts, the entire point of the class is to sneak behind the enemy when they're engaged in firefights and preoccupied. If a team is well organized it also makes it more difficult, but I wouldn't say it nullifies its effectiveness. The trick is to always keep moving, get your kill and get out sort of thing.

That being said, I'd love to play with some CAGs on an organized team. Just FR MrBryson, it'd be awesome not to play with some twelve year olds who mic spam constantly.

Is anyone having a struggle with playing well vs. leveling up weapons? I almost feel bad when I pick a lesser weapon in a team game for the purposes of getting the sight or camo for that weapon.

Oh and I'm a terrible sniper. Am I the only one who has trouble with sniping? Which rifle are you using?

Im on my second prestige mode, and what Ive learned is this: Its not worth leveling up the weapons that suck, or that you hate.

The 1750 points you get for your 150 kills is not worth it if you hate the weapon and suck with it. I can make up those points in 2-3 games of Search and Destroy.

I dont snipe. Ive never tried it. The only time Ive ever held a sniper rifle is when Im out of ammo and thats the only weapon I can find lying around. I do respect accomplished snipers, although I find that truely skilled snipers are few and far between. I may try it one day, but not when it matters, cos I would essentially be dead weight, a wasted spot on my team while I was sniping.

I tend to stick to the few weapons that I like, but I will level up some others just to get the points. I wont touch the bb guns like the scorpion or the mini uzi. I also dont like the semi auto assault rifles. I dont even use the shotguns. I like my MP5, AK74u, P90 from the SMGs. And the M4, AK47, and G36C assualt rifles. I'll also occassionaly use one the 'pigs' (LMGs).

I've found myself learning to love weapons I hate at first. I'm using the G3 now, at first I hated it with its single fire and low ammo but once you adapt to the weapon it doesn't matter. I think thats the fun of it, learning how to use it and finding different styles of playing. I believe I got my highest K:D ratio learning to conserve bullets. It does get fun trying to see how many kills you can get once you switch to pistol.

The G3 is one of if not the best weapon in the game as long as you keep your enemy as medium/long range.

Not even close.

M16.

This is one of those weapons that I'm having trouble getting used to. Single fire is risky. Now if I had one of those custom 360 controllers with the rapid fire...

They really need to add spawn shields. Only thing I hate about this game is that you can get killed right as you spawn. I dont know how many times I've entered a room when the other team is already 200+ points up and getting spawn killed and airstriked multiple times.
Add me too if you haven't. I'm loving this game.
What time do you usually get on? Haven't played with you since Rainbow Six Vegas which was like months ago lol.
Not even close.

Here are some of my scores while using G3.

30-1, 40-3, 28-2, etc.

It's unsurpassed in accuracy and I like to be able to control my firing rate as opposed to burst fire. It just takes time to learn how to use it.

Well, we should tell how many levels of Prestige you are because I think I will try and go through all of them. I just started my third go round this morning.

Yesterday I went 118-19 with the M16. I'm not saying the G3 is a bad weapon, but I (and most) will take the M16 over it any day.

Agreed. To me I know I can kill anyone with a Trigger Pulls on the M16. The G3 is inda hit and miss. Sometimes it will take 2 shots and sometimes it can take up to 5-6.

Definitely going to be playing online this weekend, got 4 days off from work starting tomorrow. Only around level 12 but it's been as fun as the beta was. Finished the campaign on normal and will probably go through veteran next. Might be on tonight after 10 PM if anyone else is on then. Hope to see some other CAGs online!
how come no co-op with this game really gay
Co-op play is unlocked when you complete the punctuation achievement.

me tarzan you jane

How much do you guys that are in prestige play? I am only level thirty on my first go through and it takes me forever to rank up. I'm not to bad at the game either.

Play headquarters, for me it takes 3 matches per rank or so. Most people with a score that is close to mine have at least twice the playing time, headquarters nets me anywhere from 400-1000pts a round. Plus k/d ratio for me just keeps growing. Really its the stat booster game type...

Whew, just finished another marathon session on Live and reached rank 34!

My new setup is:

Main Gun - M4 in Blue Tiger Camo w/ Red Dot
Side Arm - Pistol w/ Silencer (forgot specific name)
Grenade - Flash Grenade x1

Perk 1 - Bandolier
Perk 2 - Stopping Power
Perk 3 - Deep Impact

This general setup has gotten me a 1.45 kill/death ratio :)

I'd say 95% of the time I either come in 1st or 2nd, it's so damn fun.

Well, it took my first go around about a week in a half because I didn't know how many points you could get by playing Search & Destroy and Headquarters until I was around rank 35 when I started to see a few people on my friends list weren't playing Team Deathmatch and Free-for-All which what I was playing. I normally would play though a couple a hours each day and about 5 or more on weekends.

Second go around took me about a week because I mainly focused all of my gameplay on Headquarters. You can get well over a thousand points if you do enough challenges and your match bonus to rank up quickly.

The main way I finish challenges is by using each weapon. I max out the kills with all of the Assault Riffles, SMG, and LMG. I really like automatic weapons unlike mosts because I don't really care that much about kill/death ratio I just try to focus on winning.
