Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info
Yes, it's called Overkill.

I forget which level you unlock it at, but it's pretty high.

Why would you want to use it though?

It's easy just to pick up another gun off the ground.
I was thinking about that. Even though it is pretty gay. You could customize a class where you have the sniper camo then pick your favorite weapon M16. I heart Sniper Camo.

More so to use the second primary slot for a gun that no one uses much and that I need to use for challenges.

For example if I am playing a team match and my team is dominating maybe switch to a class with a G3 and some other gun that I don't have challenges done with but can still mow some one down with.

Or maybe a class with some good close quarters and something that has some good distance or large capacity (ex. SAW and Shotty)
Then I couldn't play with Cheapy.
I meant random games, not being invited by to a game by someone who lives overseas.
i have no problem aiming without a sight on any gun. on top of that, i've gotten so many kills because a team didn't see me on the radar from raping them from behind. whenever i have a silencer on my gun i do much better that coupled with UAV jammer is orgasm

silencer > sight
Whatever teams your killing either don't use the kill cam to their advantage or don't know the maps well enough to find you or a mix of both. They're probably not talking to each other by warning their team mates and saying "dude a ghost is killing us"

well i've tested this theory out, same group of people and with a gun that makes lots of noise, they all turn around.

Exactly. I always let my team know when there is a "Ghost" lurking around.

Well, the Object is too not stay in the same spot.. anyways.. I assume most people don't have great home theater systems. I also assume that when UAV is active many people rely on the UAV more then sight/sound. Which works too your advantage using the Silencer and UAV Jammer. But it is all a matter of preference anyways I suppose.. It all depends on how you use what you have.

Oh yeah, one of my friends tells me "Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups" So .. :D

YAY!, I beat the final part of One Shot one kill this morning.

I stayed inside the little hallway all the way at the northend of the level and setup some claymores in the only passageway and fended myself with the sniper the rest of the time waiting for the chopper, I managed 23 headshots in a row, killed two dogs by knifing them and then ran out of ammo with still 30 seconds left for the chopper to arrive, pulled out the pistol and mowed down 7 with some lucky headshots on the fly, picked up a random Ak47 with only 8 bullets left and ran for Macmillian, throwing flashbangs left and right, ran out of ammo and with no guns I knifed 4 blind enemies that were swarming around the chopper grabbed Macmillian and Hauled ass!!...It was the best thing ever, it felt great.

Anytime I play anything on my 360, I blow the roof off the place with my surround system, whether its to drown out the jet engine of the 360 or to not hear the noise of the GH controller. And thats a pretty good quote. Two cool points for you.

That's cool, I wish I could do that.. (Apartment) anyways I was thinking about getting those Headphones that let you hear the game sound as well as talk to people.

I wonder how many people actually play like you do though.. Sometimes I swear most of the people that play.. play with absolutley no sound at all!

It's worse when you have a friend or family member over and their playing and you can tell someone is shooting to the right, left, or behind them and they are oblivious to it. Makes me seem like I have superhuman hearing or something. But it's insanely frustrating to watch.

Yea, I do the same at my brother's house, we crank it all the way and rock out to GH2&3 and COD4 with sound blaring...

The more amazing thing is that my sister-in-law and niece sleep right through all the noise.

My rooms pretty soundproof for the most part, but at sometimes at night I'll to adjust the subwoofer if its heard throughout the house i.e. somebody complains

I generally like red dot sight better than silencer, but both have their uses.

I used reddot for team deathmatch, or hardcore (no radar), and I use my ghost or ninja class more on objective based gametypes, so they cant see from which direction Im sneaking up on the bombsite.

I have a friend that uses the Overkill perk alot. He has a smg or asssault rilfe and the .50 cal sniper rifle, aka 'da thumper'. He uses the smg or assault to get to his sniper spots, and then when he gets there he busts out old thumpy.

Thats the greatest thing about this game, soo many different ways to play, and all can be effective in the right hands.
finally beat the game today and went back to do the 20 seconds for the training thing. My best was 27 any suggestions.
I got it on my 20th run, just keep running and shooting dont stop, throw your flash bangs and reload while you wait for them to go off or knife the closet enemy popup and just keep running, avoid getting blinded by the flashbangs it will slow you down. My best time was 18, getting 19 or 20 seconds will get you the achievement

So true. I wish there was more preset spots for custom classes. I'm constantly changing them for fun and to use different guns. I'd have a class for each gun if I could. Its part of the reason why I like it so much more than Halo, you're going into battle equipped with what you want. No running around for pick ups and all that. I would kill for the variety Halo has in CoD though. A pistols/smoke grenade only game type on vacant would be pretty cool
finally beat the game today and went back to do the 20 seconds for the training thing. My best was 27 any suggestions.
I need to go back and do it also. My best was 23 at the beginning, and then I just got stuck at that number.
yeaaa crankin this bad boy up on the surround sound is godly
this and bioshock have the best 5.1 out of any other game
WTF are you talking about. You have never played BioShock idiot.
I need to go back and do it also. My best was 23 at the beginning, and then I just got stuck at that number.
I got the 20 seconds achievement. Here is what you do:

1. Pick up the flashes and the MP5.
2. Walk to the rope, wait until it turns golden.
3. Switch out from your MP5 to your pistol.
4. Blind fire (shoot from the hip) at the targets, the pistol is pretty good at that. Practice the map a couple of times and see which ones you can always blind fire and which ones you have to zoom in for.
5. Get the flashbang throwing animation ready as you are turning into the rooms that need them.
6. Always use the sprint button of course.
7. If at the end you are running out of pistol bullets, DO NOT reload, just switch the the MP5 and use that.

Now this may get you something like 22.3 seconds at the end, but the accuracy bonus you get from the pistol will get you under 20 seconds and award you the achievement!

Is there any way to get back to the training ground without having to restart a new game and going through the shooting range part?

Also, is there a way to select missions here and there for quick-play without overwriting your single player save? I have friends coming over and I'm sure they'd love to see some of the levels, but I don't wanna lose my progress.
WTF are you talking about. You have never played BioShock idiot.
WTF are you talking about? You assume that since he doesn't have Bioshock on his gamer score that means he has never played the game? Never assume anything. That shit can get ya killed in real life. Word of advice.

Go to Select Mission and you can do any mission you have already beat.

But it erases his current progress, which will be a problem if he hasn't beaten the game. But, it might work like halo 3, where if you just load the most recent level from level select, when you beat it you will go to the newer level.

I have played through it, but only on Normal. I'm going through now on Hardened and then Veteran. I guess I'm gonna have to see if I can make a backup of my save on a memory card.

For anyone that hasn't picked this up for the 360, it's currently on sale at Amazon through the Target store for $48. You do have to pay for shipping, though.

Being called an idiot is a burn? Seriously? Wow people have low burn standards. That shit was weak.

BTW I wasn't trying to be a "tough guy smartass" ;) I just found it odd he was trying to dis/embarrass another CAG ( Which I politely found out it was his friend when I was called an Idiot because I knew it was his friend  ). Who does that to their own friends?
Being called an idiot is a burn?
No, calling someone out for "making assumptions" with a tough guy line like "That shit can get ya killed in real life. Word of advice." Unless you're a cop or you're posting from Iraq/Afghanistan (and if you're a cop I know my cop friends would think you're an idiot. If you're in the Army, well, yeah you're probably that sort of tough guy since they encourage that.)

In any case, unless that above applies to you, you you don't live in some sort of world where you regularly make life and death decisions so giving someone advice as if you do makes you look like an Internet Tough Guy.

That covers the "tough guy" part.

Second, you got burned because you made an assumption about him, that he had no way of knowing what the other guy had played while you were trying to burn him for making assumptions. You look like a dumbass trying to burn someone for behavior you're currently engaged in.

That was an awful lot of explaining that shouldn't have been required for something so obvious.
holy crap i love this game, it's tearing me apart. i want to play mass effect but i can't pull away from COD, *sigh*
I'm having the same problem. CoD4's amazing multiplayer is so good that when I find time to play I can't pull myself away.

If anyone wants to add me for some team deathmatch my GamerTag is MrBryson... I'm a pretty solid lvl32 player with about a 1.33 kdr and about the same win/loss ratio.

Wow, can we get back to talking about the game? What's everyone going to do at level 55? Prestige it or bask in the mound of weapons?

And for the arguers involved -
Wow, can we get back to talking about the game? What's everyone going to do at level 55? Prestige it or bask in the mound of weapons?
I am going to do prestige mode when I get to 55. I haven't put too much time into this game as of yet and am only currently at level 39. It may take me some time.

Not doing prestige mode. Do not feel like resetting all my weapons and challenges just for a symbol. Rather just complete all my challenges and play MP.

Also, has anyone completed the Airborne challenge? It's the on were you have to get a 2 kill streak while bullets are mid-air.

I am level 35ish. I have plunked down 15+ hours into multiplayer. It is really fun. I think I am going to do one more match and hopefully get the 300 points I need to level up.

YES I finally beat the damn game on veteran!...now I gotta fight my way through Mile high club and im done!

And the Rap song in the credits deserve an emmy..."Marines HANDS UP!...Zakheav..Haha Hand up!" HA!

Ya know I said the same thing. But once I got to 55 and all the experience I was earning didnt count towards anything, I used prestige mode pretty quick.

Its not that I care about the little symbol or anything, but I am addicted to leveling up. I dont mind losing everything cos all the main stuff I like unlocks pretty early on, and I liked getting the challenges over.

Im P1:50, so Im about to do prestige for the second time. I routinely see people on the 2nd and 3rd prestige now.

Oh and I doubt anyone has gotten the Airborne challenge. It seems like the hardest one. Just the other day I shot/killed someone while in midair, but two people? Thats nigh impossible!

Even though your XP doesn't go anywhere, you can still level up your guns and stuff, right? I think I'll probably skip the prestige mode and just try to get every gun leveled up.

Yeah once you level cap at 55, you can still complete all the challenges, including the gun challenges.

There are also some gold skinned guns you can work towards. You get a gold Deagle at 55, but there are others as well.

If you complete ALL the challenges for every gun in a certain class, you unlock a gold skin for one gun in that class.

Example: If you get all the Marksman and Expert challenges for every Assault rifle, you unlock a golden AK47.

The guns are as follows:

Assault = AK47
SMG's = Mini Uzi
LMG's = M60E4
Shotgun = The semi auto one
Sniper = Dragunov

The shotgun is the easiest one to get, cos theres only 2 guns in that class. Its also the only one Ive ever seen someone using online outside of the gold deagle that everyone gets.

You lose any gold skins when doing Prestige as well, which is why Im not going for them yet.
