Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info
Does this game have any split screen at all?
Yes, however, you are unable to create a class and some maps are not playable on splitscreen.

I've recently discovered that while being crap as far as earning XP, Hardcore team deathmatch is rediculously fun. One shot from my G3 with stopping power pretty much anywhere on the body and its over.

Don't need stopping power for one hit kill with a G3 in Team Hardcore. It does it on it's own.

I do the same thing with the G3 and M14. It's overkill in most instances but I like the peace of mind it brings. Plus I'm not really attached to any of the other perks in that category. Sleight of Hand would be the only real other one I would consider in that mode but it's not a big deal since either of those rifles with Stopping Power are pretty much 1 shot 1 kill.

That's true but I only really like to dick around with the G3 and M14 in particular when we're doing really good and they're not getting close to a 3 kill streak. If we're having a hard time I definitely move to my M16 class with silencer, bando and UAV Jammer.

It's just so satisfying picking off people with the M14 in hardcore on something like the alleys of District.

Funniest thing I saw while gaming yesterday? Watching the opposing army men jump up and down on a fallen comrade, in Hardcore Search and Destroy, after my side had been eliminated, while they were waiting to defuse the bomb. It just made me burst out in laughter.

i played against a team who did that...it really was hilarious

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling gets it. He knows that even though similar levels in a game like Call of Duty 4 are an important part of creating a coherent world, people want something different in a pack of downloadable content. And that's exactly what they'll be getting, with an upcoming pack of three maps. But as to what, exactly, that means, Bowling still isn't saying.

What he will say is that those who've been clamoring for new content may already have a good idea of what's on the way. "It's a lot of community feedback, they want bigger maps, more buildings, more close quarters fighting. It's going to be really evident that it's stuff that they asked for," Bowling said. "People in the community should have a good idea of what to expect."

The maps are now in the playtesting phase, so hopefully even us non-forum goers will know what Infinity Ward has cooking soon.

"Different" maps... awesome... I really cant wait... I want BIG BIG maps, like Battlefield 2 sized maps... that would be the hotness
Call me stupid...but I haven't played in a loooong time. Has that freaking update come out yet?
Not yet, but it's at MS for certification.
I was hoping for more than three maps though. That kinda sucks.
3 maps? Where does it say that? Am I missing something?

Nope. According to Infinity Ward, the patch is going through Microsoft quality assurance right now, and will be released once it has been approved.

Which is due to the fact that hte first time there were netcode issues.

read Sasukun's post

I like those killcam ideas, Especially the Airstrike one. I'd like to see a bomb drop and hit the soldier, haha.

By the way, does anyone know of any CoD4 stat sigs, sort of like the Halo 3 ones, only with all your CoD stats? If anyone knows any, please let me know. :D

I am almost positive that there are no stats available online.
I really enjoy the cover system in RS6. Hopefully they take a bit of power away from the grenades though as I would get two kills with most grenades I threw. They at least gave the host the ability to lock them out though
I played the Vegas demo, while I presently wait for my damn parcel from some lazy eBay seller, and found it to be quite fun. It lacks the sprint button that will be featured in Vegas 2, but I consider playing through Vegas a training course for Vegas 2. ;)

And I want more power given to the explosives. Not that I primarily use a grenade launcher or anything of the sort.

>_>
5th prestige, getting boring.
Thats the spirit!

I am going to pop this game in tonight. It's been like a week, so maybe that will be enough to rekindle the love.

Want to play right now?

I got word that the Xbox 360 Feature patch could be ‘very very close’, I can’t tell you exactly when because they haven’t passed on that information but apparently certification went fantastic and I was given the Green light to take care of some things that I have to do before it goes live to you guys, which means good things. I’m not going to get any hopes up, but I hope to be seeing some new Kill Cams by the weekend if we’re lucky. Don’t hold me to that though, but I have a good feeling about it.

What's the patch supposed to fix? I haven't played MP in a long long while.
Guys I just ordered this as my next free game. Is it still worth getting for online? Or should I get something else and just wait for CoD5?
COD4 is above Halo 3 right now as far as players online. Let's just say this... I got on earlier, checked my friend's list and 9 people were playing COD4, 2 were playing Halo 3, and 3 were playing Live Arcade games.

This game isn't going anywhere for a while. And they are about to have new maps and content soon, and that'll bring people back to it (that's assuming people left).

I am still glued to this game, though I got it in very late December 2007, and started playing multiplayer in January 2008. I didn't do prestige, though, but have beaten most of the challenges with a few left per gun type and some scattered across Humiliation and Elite.

It's a shame Call of Duty 5 is getting such negative press. I hope it's as good, if not better. Then again, Battlefield returns. So if the Call of Duty franchise dies, at least I won't have to resort to Halo.
COD5 not made by the same people and set in WW2 era. just get this game.
Source please? I haven't heard anything about that. We need a Revolutionary War game! That hl2 mod rocks :)

I don't have a link either but its true...Infinity Ward and Treyarch take turns on the series:

CoD2 = Infinity Ward
CoD3 = Treyarch
CoD4 = Infinity Ward
CoD5 = Treyarch (and was previously announced to go back to WWII)

EDIT: Here it is: http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/08/rumor-call-of-duty-5-to-be-set-during-world-war-ii/ Its "rumored" to be set in WWII

Well, hopefully they switch to the Pacific theater. I'm sure most of us can agree that fighting Germans has become stale. Thanks for the information though :)

I just did my first prestige and finally decided to finish up all the achievements. Yes, I even beat Mile High Club on vet. :drool:

Damn, that's pretty darn impressive, sir. :hot: I recently tried it on Veteran and kept getting killed near the end, and considering how short that stage is, my frustration went through the roof. :bomb:

im starting to get back into it...not doing good again yet, but if anybody wants to play later send me a friend request g.t. thr33thehardway

I made a pledge to myself that I wouldn't play anything else until I beat it. 5 hours straight on a friday night (I got trashed too because of it!) and then another 5 hours the next day. I swear I think I restarted the mission at least 100 times, likely more. I had to watch numerous YouTube videos to see how everyone ran it. I even made it to the end and failed like 4 times. It was the most frustrating thing I'd ever done lol. I can only compare it to maybe fighting Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

Now that is dedication. Kudos, Mike. :applause: Yeah, Mile High Club on Veteran difficulty is about as infuriatingly-frustrating as the final boss in Sunset Riders. :cry:
