Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info

Mile High Club on Veteran will take years out of your life expectancy, though through some fluke, some random toss of the dice of fate, I managed to finish the level with under a second left with terrorists swarming towards me.
 
Im finding that players online are getting alot more obnoxious than they were when the game first came out. I usually need to mute 2-3 players every single game now. It used to be one player every few games.

I know sometimes when I'm rocking 20-7 or something like that in Team Deathmatch and there's some guy on my team 25 levels ahead of me bringing down the team with a record like 1-13 I get frustrated enough to say something. That probably makes me sound a little obnoxious, but it's annoying to see someone in prestige mode who is awful at the game.

I love Team Hardcore, but the wait after death just seems to take to long.

Thats not what I mean, even Im guilty of that sometimes. If Im leading the team, and we lose a S&D match 1-4, I'll mention how bad my team sucks, or how a-hole snipers never try to complete game objectives, etc.


Im talking about all the racist, homophobic, nationalist douchebags I see online. These people hate everyone, and have no qualms about expressing that sentiment. I had no idea Americans hated British people soo much, lol. And god forbid your french... whooboy...


After playing Team Hardcore for so long, going back to Team Deathmatch just seems shitty. Hardcore is just so much more fun...

I play Search & Destroy almost exclusively. The point totals are high, its not unusual to get 1000 pts a match, and the fact that once you die, you sit out till the next round, keeps alot of the dochebags at bay. It also promotes a slower, more careful play style that I like. This mode reminds me the most of Counterstrike. I also love Hardcore mode, but for quick leveling up, ou cant beat S&D.

I still stick to team deathmatch, only because I'm good at it. I almost always get 1000 points. My KD ratio seems to stay around 1.70, usually higher.

Search and Destory is alright, except everyone and there mom has the extra HP perk.

Still debating if I want to do prestige.

Thanks man. I took a break to play SMG, Mass Effect twice, and Fire Emblem. I imagine I'd be right up there with you rank wise. We should play sometime.

People have gotten MUCH MUCH better, so I have to change my strategy. I do a lot more hiding, and popping out. I used to be able to just run and gun and maintain 40 kills 15 deaths a match. Not anymore.

I also love close quarter maps.

My favorite maps: Vacant (this map RULES, shotgun or P90 rapes), Shipment, Downpour, Crossfire (one of the exceptions, I love this map), District.

Showdown, Wetwork, Pipeline, and Bog are terrible maps. I try to avoid them.
 
It's all about Headquarters.

And I wouldn't call any of the maps terrible (except for District). Just some of them are not well suited to certain gametypes.

Headquarters would be fun if I had people who didn't suck to play with.

That's the beauty of team deathmatch, I don't even really need a team. I don't like deathmatch, to much camping.

When my team wins, I get on average 700 with the match bonus.

When we lose, I get on average 450 with the match bonus.

i think I just made 32. My wife left a week before me to her moms for christmas so i'll be able to do nothing but power up my rankings. Not that it means anything. Do you even get an achievement for getting 55 ?
 
Only thing you get at 55 is a Golden Deagle. After that you rank up again and can do prestige mode which is 100% useless. Golde weapons are only thing worth going for, even then they dont do anything different.
 
What sucks is that My 360 broke last week and I sent it in, and probably won't get it back until January! I hope all of my friends are still playing this a month from now, or else I'd feel like I missed out on a great game.

I always go in alone, and I get around 30 kills and 12-15 deaths in good games, but then no one else is gettign kills on my team so we lose.
 
My win % is soo low because I have connection problems when partying up so I mostly just play by myself in HQ. k/d is at 2.2 though

As a reason as to why my stats are so bad, it's because I play headquarters a lot and I'm the one who always has to sacrifice myself to grab HQs.

If I played deathmatch, my shit would look better, but I also wouldn't be having fun.

Doesn't really bother me though; I don't play for stats.

I love Hardcore. I hate it when people dont know how to defuse bombs (since there is no hud).

I was in one game were it was 3v1, the last enemy died with about 40 seconds left on the bomb. All 3 Marines didnt know they just had to defuse the bomb. One Marine TK'd his teammate trying to defused. Then the last 2 Marines wouldnt defuse because they thought there was still an enemy alive. Second teammate killed the Third teammate, and we ended up losing because the time ran out and the bomb exploded.

honestly there's just to many modes to play. Whenever I start up cod4 I can't decide because they all sound fun so I just end up doing basic TDM. COD4 is just such a fun game and it can turn even the nicest of person into a stats whore like it has me.
 
I'm loving this game. Havent finished the single player campaign yet because i'm addicted to the multiplayer. I will finish it soon though as I hear that it's fairly short.

I'm getting better and better online though, so much fun. Just got 24 kills in a row whoo!

Not that impressive, but Im happy.

My time played is increasing way faster than anything else, mostly because I play S&D almost exclusively, and there just arent that many people to kill in that mode. No more 40-6 games. If you kill 10 ppl in a S&D game, thats a monster game.

I also have alot of losses cos I usually get thrown on the suck team. Also, I can no longer count how many times Ive lost cos the host dropped the game cos they were losing, or there were connection problems. Also, I have no qualms about leaving a game halfway thru cos its full of griefers or idiots, or my lag is bad. Basically that stat doesnt concern me, so I dont work towards bettering it.

The accuracy stat kinda pisses me off, cos it used to be above 20%, I dont know what happened there...

I only leave if the lag is bad, or my team is like, absolutely miserable.

Happens more often then I'd like, the lag is shitty the last week. I usually have 4 bars instead of 5... and that makes a world of difference.

Yeah Ive noticed that too. Many times Im on a server lately, and Im one bar below the max. Light green instead of dark green. That kind of latency isnt unplayable. But if you walk into a straight up firefight against someone with one more bar than you, you will lose. So when in this situation I try to finish out the game by hiding in corners and ambushing people. Then I'll leave when the games over. But combine that with a-hole players and sometimes I just bail.

Imo the most important stats that determine how 'good' you are, are the K:D ratio and accuracy.
 
Accuracy is just how much you shoot, sometimes you need to shootup walls just to clear a room in certain gametypes. K/D ratio can be meaningless as well since I know people who play HQ and camp never going for the objective. One guy has a 4.0 ratio because hes actually decent at the game and with people just running blindly across the map its not hard to get alot of kills.

That and more people are using the damn Juggernaut perk... and it seems that it has gotten even harder to kill someone using it. Oh well... Starting Thursday I got just under a month off from school to start blasting guys again.
 
I pasticipated in the beta originally, and loved but for some reason after playing the story mode, in all it's amazing HD glory, I didn't think the multiplayer was so good anymore. Call me crazy, which I sure I will be, but It just isn't anything special.

You may have over played the beta. I didn't really go too into the beta, I was about a level 10 in it. If you reached the max in the beta, it might be a bit boring since you know what you are getting everytime you level up.

The Beta was initially capped at 16, but was moved up to 25 on the last weekend it was available.

I played the hell out of the beta and I still love the MP game now. Never before has a beta/demo sold me soo hard on a game. I couldnt wait for this game to come out.

QFT. I was practically drooling for this game to come out after the beta ended. Halo 3 was out already but I was still squeezing every minute out of the beta instead of playing Halo.
