Call of Duty Black OPS
What am I looking at?
A skeleton wearing a large, blue crab pincer on it's head, in addition to a grey shirt with a "W" logo on it, blue Hulk hands, a yellow chainlink belt, blue diapers, bacon legs, and blue, oversized military boots...to be exact.

You know, the typical Batman look.

YES i just got the 2 last flags. Next time im not even going to try to get them. Im already level 21, and when i prestige ill have to do it all over again. Seems like its not worth the trouble. Rather do it after i hit 15th prestige.

I really wish they had it where you could press X when you are picking your weapon to see the challenges for it. Im pretty sure MW2 had this. You can do it when setting up your perks, but nothing else. You have to back out and go into your playercard, challenges, primary weapons, sub machine guns, just to see a SMG. Its really not very convenient.

I ran into this video today, its on how to change your clan tag color without having prestige 13, i did it and it works. I dont think it shows up colored in the game, just in the lobby. also havent heard anyone comment on it, so maybe you can only see it.

Whoa, did the clan tag thing. Checked a fellow CAG's GT, and his is colored too, but he's not even prestiged. Awesome. I wonder when that'll be fixed, or if it's an "offense".

Also, anyone 'decent' (anything above 1.0 KDR) looking to play together? I usually don't play in a party, but now looking for at least one or two reliable people to play with (reliable as in, in-game). I guess for company, or so I actually have some faith in my team. =X

I'll play anything except S&D*, preferably modes without Nuketown. (maybe with a good group. I can't stand the amount of camping in that mode.)

Does anybody have some general tips for me? The best I've ever done is like 17 and 9. I seem to always get killed a lot. Maybe I just need more practice, but I want to hear what you guys think I should do.

How are we supposed to give you tips when we don't know what you're already doing? Loadouts youre using, strats youre using.

Silencer & Camping. That's all you need.

Find a gun you like and can control (Combat training!), use it in most of your classes. In fact, play lots of Combat Training, starting on Regular difficulty with even teams. Once you get warmed up and start kicking ass, up it to Hardened (never Veteran, which is suicide unless you're absolutely on your game). Once you're doing decent on Hardened, you should be set to move on to multiplayer, no problem (except lag).

A general tip for [more] survivability is to stick to the outside of the map. If you go through the middle, you should have a plan, or you'll more easily be outgunned/surprised. Also, to know the maps. (Combat training!) - The bots follow most routes that humans would normally take, but not all of them.

Get used to the aim assist (Why aren't you playing combat training yet?), and then used to adjusting to it when aiming down sights. It can sometimes screw up and veer off if you're ADS and the enemy moves slightly.

I highly recommend playing a couple rounds of Combat Training, before going online. (any day)- It can help you mentally prepare for a real game.

LOL Don't forget ghost and to lie down any where and every where you camp and to buy a claymore and put it right in front of you.

Yeah seriously, i play hardcore TDM a lot and most people just use ghost + claymore + suppressor, and find a nice cozy corner to cook marshmallows in. To me thats really boring, just sitting there waiting for people to walk by. Ive been using lightweight pro + steady aim pro + marathon pro with duel wielding SMGs. I just sprint all over, sometimes i do good, sometimes i do horrible. I think at least half my deaths are from claymores when i do this. Only thing that sucks is when the enemy spy plane is in the air, then they know where i am and i dont know where they are.

But camping in certain spots can be a good strategy. For instance in nuketown you run onto the top floor of the bunkbed room and kill a guy looking out the window. Ok you know he is coming back for revenge, so you lay a claymore down by the doors that lead from outside/up the stairs, then camp right by the rooms door next to the bunkbeds (or on top of the bunkbeds). Claymore kill, then he will run in and think you are by the window, another kill because he just sprints in and doesnt see you by the bunkbeds/door corner. After that you go back out and camp by the desk corner, so when he runs in again in rage he wont see you and you can shoot him again.

I will do this sometimes, but i really dont have the patience to sit and wait, and if i did i would probably end the game with 5-8 kills. Id much rather run around on a wild rampage and get 15 or more kills, even if it means i go negative.

This game makes me rage so much, I'm tired of constantly getting jewed out of kills then killed on top of it unloading magazines into people with last stand on then someone comes along and fires 1 bullet and gets the kill while the dude is in last stand. All of sudden every game I join in lags, everyone's teleporting all over then I sneak up on someone and knife them in the back, lag, then I get knifed? Are the COD4 servers still up? I'm about to throw this game away.

hahah oh man, that sounds exactly like me a couple days ago, fuck I was pissed.

I tried to make a clip of something today, the part, close to the end of the game, wasn't even saved. Like there was a whole minute or 2 of game time that was missing. I don't get it. They can't get their game right, they can't get their website right. I am honestly never buying a game from them again. I had such high hopes for this and Reach and they are just so far under the curve it's depressing. The even worse part is they didn't have to change much from MW2 but they managed to break shit that was fine in the last game.

They managed to address just about everything I disliked about MW2. No more quick scoping, noobtube spam, OMA, stopping power, pain pill, nukes, etc.. Black Ops isn't perfect (mainly the sound still sucks), but it's proven to be a lot of fun.

Ok, so just curious. Seems like most people who post here did play some of MW2 and I was wondering if you think Black Ops is easier/harder than MW2? It took me some time (2-3 prestige) before I was getting the higher scores like 35-5, etc but with Black Ops, I'm already getting those before the first prestige. It just seems easier to me. Anyone else?

Are the leaderboards glitched or did they re-set everything back? Even on the "all time" list it seems everyone's numbers are waaaaaaaaaaaay under what they were 24 hours ago.

Did hosts migrate? if hosts migrate midgame, it separates into separate games.

well I don't think it's really that it's easier or harder than mw2 because you're still playing online.

it does play a bit different with the levels being more cluttered and the fights being more mid/short range. ie: very very few snipers compared to mw2.

also with killstreaks not giving other killstreaks it seems to have cut back a lot on the higher level ones. so typically can survive for longer.

also not getting knifed from 20 feet away also helps.
Ugh, I just read about possible nerfing in store for the G11 and AK74.

/sad face (more so for the latter than the former)
imho I think the ask74u needs to get nerfed, I have gotten countless 15 killstreaks with the ak74u not even trying so I think it would help out.

As far as the G11 getting nerfed....I hate that fucking gun.
They are different color? I know a few times i got a care package and ended up getting nothing. Maybe these were booby traps, but since i killed the guy who set it up, it couldnt go off.
I already went over this in a previous post, after having it happen to me, by bots, in Combat Training.

If your care package gets trapped, it stays the same color it was when it dropped (to you). To the enemy, it changes colors so it denotes that it's trapped and shouldn't be taken.

If you're on the receiving end, usually you'll hear the *care package stolen* noise, but it will remain there. Nothing else will happen or change until it's taken.

In the money...out of the money...in the money...out of the money...

Am I the only one that thinks they should split One In The Chamber into 3 seperate rounds or something per match? Getting killed 3 times straight off, sitting there till the match is over (Which most people don't do, they just quit out), seeing the results, back to the lobby, waiting, back into the match means you end up waiting twice as long as you play. Lawdy.

Played BO for 2 days this weekend, and there are definitely some complaints but I love this game. Lag and Host Migration problems are my main issues with it. Oh, and camping. fuck camping. I just...I just don't get it. Paying 65 bucks for a game to just sit in a corner waiting for people to run by. Eh, whatever. Overall, got used to the input lag on my TV, got some hilarious kills/wins, all is good.

One thing I don't like about Theater is that it doesn't show the killcam. Last match I played before I left my bud's house today had the final killcam be some idiot just sprint right into the flames that an enemy napalm had left on the ground. Was absolutely hilarious. How do I upload clips to YouTube, by the way?

I honestly couldn't care less about the G11 getting nerfed myself. I mean sure I like it well enough but anyone interested in prestiging isn't going to have it long enough to become a long term annoyance with it. The first time I used it I camped a little because I normally suck with burst rifles and ended up going +20 because the fire rate alone. With the level up system being the breeze that it is 11s will become a lot more common place so I'm down for the nerf provided they don't go overboard with it. A high level gun should above all else perform as such otherwise what's the point?

The 74u on the other hand would suck something fierce for me as a run and gunner because it is one of the few SMGs I actually enjoy using in this game. Oh, and then there's not having to burn half of a clip to kill someone (even in lag) perk to it as well which is always nice. Nerfing is understandable though as it truly is the "UMP" of the game. I just believe part of the reason (outside of dmg and retaining it at long ranges) for it being put up on the chopping block is due to the rampant mediocrity of its brethren. Nearly half of the selection feel and perform like experimental Vectors to me at every range. The latest patch for matchmaking hasn't lessen the amount of kids three shot killing me with free aimed ARs while swallowing tons of shots every other game so lag is still a serious issue for me. The 74 is the only SMG I can depend on answering said threat before it materializes.

If it does get hit hard I'll start maining the MP w/ rapid fire until I unlock the Spectre to see how I adjust. If that doesn't work for me then ARs and Shotguns will be the only weapons I use besides the Crossbow and occasional launcher until I'm done prestiging. At this point the lack of the variety will deter me from playing the game faster than these connection issues will. >_>

Today I uploaded a video twice, and it still wont show up. Yesterday i had to upload a video twice before it showed up. Anyone else having problems?

I really dont understand this. Im watching a replay of a game i had. Enemy care package drops, i killed him with a grenade as he gets the "capturing crate" bar 50%, then dies. He didnt get anything out of it. So when i captured it, i didnt get anything from it. Is this some sort of glitch?

Hmm i posted about it on the COD forums, and someone suggested it was ammo. It could have been, but i dont remember hearing anything like i picked up ammo. I was playing hardcore TDM so you cant see how much ammo you have.

Looking for a group of people to play hardcore search and destroy with. I'm decent, usually maintain a 2.0+ k/d. Add my gamertag to the left usually on in evenings from 630-10 EST.
The shotguns are so inconsistent. Notice how it takes 3-4 shots to down the first guy, 1 to down the second from a distance, and doesn't kill the last guy point blank.

LOL @ the knife at the end. I've noticed people that use last stand take NOTICEABLY way more bullets than those that don't. Even the bots in combat training. Definitely something that needs to be looked into.

Anyone else having problems with Enabling "Load Multiplayer by Default"? I set it to load automatically in the MP options menu but when I restart it Disables it again.

I've tried installing game to HDD, etc. but doesn't seem to work. A few people on the COD forums seem to be having the same problem but haven't heard of anybody finding the fix .

Oh 7th, how you entertain me with these under-30-seconds videos while I'm on crappy internet. That 2nd clip at the end was hilarious.

I'm guessing you wait a second while right behind them to add insult to injury in the Killcam?

Nah there is no killcam in hardcore TDM. I just think its funny to make a video of it. I dont think people camp as much in regular team death match.

Oh here is another guy.... waved my guns in his face and he didnt even move. LOL
Care to elaborate on that?
Sure.

Ghost is super overpowered. In COD4, the UAV couldn't be shot down. UAV Jammer was a viable perk, and I didn't have a problem with it. You also had to get rid of stopping power to use it. In MW2, IW made it so the UAV could be shot down. This alone should have warranted the elimination of the UAV Jammer/Cold Blooded perk. I'd still let it slide in that game because of the fact that Stopping Power dominated and you had to get rid of it to use Cold Blooded. In Black Ops, Stopping Power is gone. There's no reason to have Ghost as a perk anymore. Honestly, what is the counter for it? There isn't one. Getting killed by a guy camping in a corner prone while wearing Ghost is extremely frustrating. It's akin to Commando/Tubes to me personally.

In my personal opinion, Ghost should be a Perk 2 slot. They could switch Scout and Ghost around.

That's just me, though. Camping is mind-boggling to me.
and get rid of last stand.
I'd disagree with you if it was a week or so after it came out. I was using Second Chance from the start, and I loved it, but now it's everywhere. Kind of disappointing. I felt special knocking out a guy while in Second Chance and then getting revived, if but only for 2 weeks.

I just think, why should i have to kill a guy a 2nd time if i already killed him once. If not for last stand he would be dead. He doesnt deserve another chance to kill me if i already beat him once.

Why does it take more shots to kill an enemy when you shoot them in the head than when you shoot them in the legs or even arms?

I try to avoid bitching about camping, because it's in every COD game I've ever played...but last night on villa this dude got the game winning kill cam on me. He was prone hiding in the corner near the Villa as I was crossing the pool courtyard, his first 10 or so shot didn't even hit me (he was using a silencer). I'm always ashamed if I get killed in the GW killcam, but I was even happier it showed his camping ass. He was getting major hell in the lobby after the game which was somewhat gratifying.

On a side note, I switched to hardcore TDM last night, it is much more fun kiling someone with just a few shots rather than a full clip.
trakan, what was that in the vid at 0:07?
Just the theater feature being wonky. It's still in beta. The clip is in my file share and plays correctly in game if someone wants to see it. I just reload one cartridge in the Spas and finish off the second chance guy.

More bullshit, this time featuring the knife:

Take notice as to how I die at the end. He somehow knifes me through my claymore without even doing a swinging animation.
