I've seen so many different thrread that the forum is getting messy. Since we have an official trading thread, maybe we can have an official one for questions too, because after all, this is the Canadian HOT DEALS forum! It's not right when we have more questions than deals. You can ask any question you wan there, ranging from the cheapest 360, HDTVGame delays, Canadian game rental sites all the way to where the cheapest copy of Burnout is. I can assure you that you will get the same amout of replies here, if not more!

Do you guys know where to find a cheap bundle of Rockband 2 for ps3?
not online just in stores.
trying to look for something under the reg price of 189.99 right now
thanks!
Aww, that sucks. What's the deal with that? People in NA don't like special editions?
I don't know... but I believe that there's a bonus weapon in the SE which is the same one that NA gets with an EB/Gamestop pre-order.

hey so what's up with the :ps3: video store? i could have sworn I remember seeing it but maybe that was in the states? do they allow the video store in Canada?

I've been meaning to ask this for months but I've been relatively lazy and I'm not really planning on buying video online. I am interested in 'window shopping' though.

The US has it, we don't. Not sure when it would ever come at this point either.

You can probably windows shop and download if you have your PS3 registered for the US, buuuuut... it checks you IP to see where you're watching a movie from. Canadian IP = no movie joy

well I registered in the US so i guess it's IP based for browsing as well.. oh well that's one temptation I don't have to worry about.
Trade in credit goes straight into your Edge card and that has no tax on it.

Refunds and any other credit that goes on a Gift Card will have taxes on it. This credit also includes their 'Satisfaction Guaranteed' game of the moment (ex right now it's UFC), so you get taxes on that back but purchases made with this will be taxed.
I got a question.
I preordered UFC with the T3G1.
I plan to return that game for inFamous.
When I return it with the satisfaction guarantee, i get 69.99 on my card right?
If I want inFamous, do I have to pay extra money, for ex, tax?
Or can I just ask them to swap my game for inFamous.

When you return a gaming guarantee game it's like trade in credit, so anything you get with it will be tax free. I've never had a problem asking them to swap it, but worse comes to worse you just return it and then buy something right away.

My last return (RE5) was put on a gift card, so I also got tax back. I can't remember the last time I did the satisfaction guarantee before that but I would imagine that is likely the case.

But either way, since returning your preorder for UFC will give you full credit back, it should be just enough to get another PS360 game.

Is there any rhyme or reason to which games can be shipped to Canada from amazon.com? I've got a $25 GC for them but don't really know what to buy, it seems like a lot of the cheap sale stuff cannot be shipped to Canada (i.e. Prince of Persia).

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure if it's software or electronics you're not going to be able to get it direct from amazon.com :( If it's a book you might be able to order it if it's not to large/heavy. Same with DVDs. I've never had any success with games at all. It's really frustrating when you compare .com to .ca.

Speaking of frustration, anyone found any preorder deals for Bionic Commando for the 360 yet? I'm dancing in my pants over that game and there's nothing at all to placate the angry little accountant in my brain with the sharp pencils and the poking.

Hey I'm just wondering what people think about PayPal. Is it safe or should I steer clear of it? I know a lot of sites solely use it so it seems like it should be safe but I'd like to hear what CAGs have to say.

PayPal is a great website. Just remember to never accept any links from it that are not DIRECTLY from the website your buying from in a checkout.

Always type it in directly to your address bar, and only type your info if you got redirected from a checkout to avoid scams.

Also, keep your password strong and different from all your other online accounts and stuff.

I've never had a problem at all, and it works perfectly... Especially helps me for I prefer using debit.

I have a question, is there anywhere I can get GTA IV for a really good price? I've never played a GTA game before, and want a game that's vast, open and detailed. Plus very fun! Would you reccomend GTA IV, and where's the best place to get it from (used or new, whichever is cheaper)

I'm positive that my BBV had it used for $30 last time I looked.

Can someone rattle off the current prices for the consoles at EB?
new ones. with no trade ins to add. their regular prices. (360,ps3,wii)

thanks!

Does anyone see a flaw in this plan?

1) Trade in Fallout 3 now for $40 at futureshop.
2) Buy Fallout 3 GOTY edition (which supposedly includes all 6 expansion packs.. a $60 USD value) when it comes out later this year.
3) Profit even if it means spending $69.99 on a new copy

I've only got operation anchorage now.. so that's still a pretty big savings.

Nope, your logic is good, provided you can go without playing Fallout 3 until Fall
What's the lowest anyone has seen Dynasty Warriors 6 (360 or PS3, but preferably the former)?
Check the Source. It's on clearance, I can't remember what but 10 bucks come to mind, but don't quote me on that.

is there a new EB Most Wanted list for June? Or other new promos (other than the gaming guarantee on Transformers)?

I just did a T3 Promo at EB Games but the guy said I had to pay the taxes on the game and when I did a T3 last year they didn't charge me tax is this new?
You don't have to. It's trade in credit.
Motherfucker charged me the taxes on a 69.99 game, wonder if I could get that money back?

I did a trade 3 at Eaton Centre and there were no taxes. I also traded some games toward half the cost of another game, and only paid tax on the remaining balance. You got ripped off.

So I looked more cloesly at me receipt when I had time (at work) and thay charged me not the taxes but ten bucks (I thought it was 11 something) which allowed it to be bumped up the 69.99 from 59.99 (which is what the 3 came out to on the receipt) but I'm sure I had a game before that was 69.99 and the T3 covered the whole thing but I guess could be wrong about that. Anyone know about that?

hey guys, quick question about an EB promo; I was told I could trade in one game and get a new release for $49.99; Am I able to combine this promo with EB's gaming guarantee? I was thinking of pre-ordering Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for $49.99, then returning it ASAP for the $69.99 credit; is that possible? And more importantly, does it make sense to do that?

game_fanatic: As long as you have an accompanying receipt from EB stating the game is a preorder, you can (by some miracle) buy it with belly button lint and your game can still apply to their Gamer's guarantee deal.

And personally, it's not worth it since a bump to 20 bucks is not as worth it as trying to find two other games for a full trade 3 deal or using it for another trade-in where you can get up to 25; unless of course you really want/need to get rid of this game cause it's possessed or something. :p

Well it's Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for PS3, and it's TIV right now is $14 or $15, and hunting around for another two games seems like such a hassle, especially with the lack of good used gaming stores in my area; if I could find two games for around $20 each that qualify, I may just go that route with the T3.

Wow, I thought vanilla Oblivion was lower than that since I chucked my copy for around that much more than a year ago.

The three times I've done trade 3, it was for a new game valued up to $69.99. Twice I was buying a $80 game and paid the extra $10, and the third time was for a $69.99 game and I paid nothing.

Thanks for the info I'm going to see if I can get it fixed next time I'm in there.

hey goozex users, I just had a quick question! Is there a better way to obtain tokens than just buying them outright? I know it says to "Refer a Friend," but I don't really have many gaming buddies who would use the service. It's tempting to buy the 120 tokens for $60, since that would obviously last me a bucketload of time, and it's a good deal to boot! I just don't want to plump down the cash and discover there was a more CAG-way of doing things!

Not that I know of, I just bought 30 tokens myself. Although really, I don't know why... I'm just adding old used games to my backlog now.

Hmm alrighty, looks like 120 tokens is the way to go; do they ever expire? Man, I feel so dumb for trading in my copy of Fallout 3 for $40 at FS, even though several CAGs told me to use goozex...d'oh!

Hmm yeah I guess it depends on much you spend for games these days; personally, I would've preferred to send off Fallout 3 and get RE5 or KZ2 or something instead, but if you can buy said games with the $40 then it's all gravy. Do you have any tips for using goozex, TripleQ? Or anyone else, really.

So let me get this straight.. on Goozex I put my copy of Fallout 3 up for sale/trade and someone gives me 1000 points for it. I pay the 1 token and then ship it to them. I now have 1000 points. I'm free to buy whatever I feel with those 1000 points?

If so, I should really start using this Goozex.

Kekumba, you're close except for one thing: You don't use trade "tokens" when you sell an item. You only redeem them when you REQUEST an item. To sell/send out games you just get the points (though you pay for shipping) and when you request games you pay the trade token and the shipping is free. Good luck! The site is awesome :)
