I've seen so many different thrread that the forum is getting messy. Since we have an official trading thread, maybe we can have an official one for questions too, because after all, this is the Canadian HOT DEALS forum! It's not right when we have more questions than deals. You can ask any question you wan there, ranging from the cheapest 360, HDTVGame delays, Canadian game rental sites all the way to where the cheapest copy of Burnout is. I can assure you that you will get the same amout of replies here, if not more!
Hmm yeah I guess it depends on much you spend for games these days; personally, I would've preferred to send off Fallout 3 and get RE5 or KZ2 or something instead, but if you can buy said games with the $40 then it's all gravy. Do you have any tips for using goozex, TripleQ? Or anyone else, really.
I traded in a couple of games to futureshop when they were offering $40 instead of trading them into Goozex. Mind you I had around 3000 points sitting in my account at the time. If you want tips about using Goozex and are looking to get newer games off of the site I would suggest adding the games to your queue on the night that they come out. The games are available for request at 1am EST on their release date. If you dont stay up you will be waiting at least a couple of months if not more for a match for the game.

Quick question about Goozex: Since those of us in Canada can't print off the waybills to use for shipping, what do we do? I don't mind paying shipping but what about when people in the US have to send to us?

Fellow cheap asses, is there a better option than what I'm about to describe? I want to get rid of UFC Undisputed, and would like to trade it in for as much value as possible toward Prototype. I see that UFC has a tiv.ca value of $40 at EB. Are there any bonus deals at stores, like a $10 bonus at FS or something like that? I checked out EB's most wanted flyer and UFC wasn't listed. Just want to make sure I'm not missing out on any specials, thanks!

BTW, would like to avoid goozex, don't want to wait.

edit: I see on the FS website that UFC has a $40 value there as well, but Prototype isn't on the list for the $10 bonus credit deal. Does FS charge tax on credit, unlike EB?

I'd wait until we see what's being offered next week at FS. I have a feeling Prototype is going to be added to the list of games that qualifies for a trade-in bonus. Not sure but I think they switch over on Fridays.

I'm right where you are. I'm actually thinking about unloading UFC also. I really like the game but it's not really holding my attention anymore.

Friday is close, I'll do that. Thanks for the tip. I like UFC pretty well, but the problem is the career mode is pretty crappy and I'm not that into competitive online in general. That doesn't really leave much to do. And to think I could have traded it back to EB for full credit, damn. I've regretted pretty much every fighting game purchase this gen, when am I gonna learn my lesson?

I only started using Goozex recently.. but as killmak said, it's usually very hard to get new releases because it's all supply and demand. How many people are going to send out a new release game days after they got it? It's queue based so first come first serve. You will be waiting months to get RE5 or KZ2.

I've been trying to send out higher value recent games (sometimes you can find flippable stuff) and then filling in my backlog with older, more available games.

Yeah I figured new releases are not really plausible with goozex. I'm mainly looking for older games that are either too expensive right now, or just hard to get in decent condition. I have offered a few games, but my position is in the 30s-40s, and I think my position on Prince of Persia actually went from 33 to 34 overnight, so I don't know what the deal with that is!

30's ain't bad if there are many trades going on... should only be a couple of weeks? You can go to a worse queue position if someone who added the game "on hold" before you did makes their offer active.

Looks like this weeks games are all Wii games, according to the flyer. Tiger Woods, Punch Out, Tennis. Oh well, guess I'll be trading UFC in to EB for $40.

This may be a stupid question, but I was looking on amazon.ca and noticed Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is listed and says "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available." Usually on OOS items I don't see them say that, does that mean amazon might get copies in stock? Or am I looking too much into this?

Considering Atlus has reprinted the game twice, it's possible. However I don't think the game was available on amazon.ca when it was on sale; it was only amazon.com. However, if it does get a third reprint, I'm not complaining.
Wheres the cheapest place to get Eternal Sonata for the 360 ?
Try RCSS, Loblaws, etc's electronics section. Last time I remember, it's 10 bucks new. If not, hope a Rogers pull the game; it's 18 bucks used there.

They actually had it for sale a couple months back but then the gaming blogs made posts about it and it sold out in minutes. Not sure if they're going to be restocking or not.

Anyone know what EB gives for a 60 GB Xbox 360 (trade)?

EDIT: Nevermind, called them. $50 for the console, $40 for the HD

How much does it cost to ship a game to the US using Canada Post, say their cheapest option? How much to Canada? I want to start listing games on eBay but I'm not sure what to put as shipping cost.

A DVD sized game in a bubble mailer will qualify for Light Packet which is $4.40 plus tax to mail.

I just sent out a game (in a CD jewel case in a bubble mailer) and was surprised that it only cost $1.96+tax.. It was under 100g I guess. Normally it would be $3.40+tax for a DVD case + bubble mailer.

Within Canada DVD case + bubble mailer is $1.96+tax

Hey guys,
I've been looking into Goozex and was wondering how accurate is the point system to how much the games are actually worth? I realized that most new ones are 1000 and that ones that are harder to find are more. But then a game like Bioshock for PS3 is 650 where you can buy it for $30 now. Also I was wondering if anyone here in Canada has been an avid Goozed trader and whether the system is worth it with the shipping costs (and how much approx. is it on average)?
Thanks

Generally I find Goozex point values higher than what we (CAGers) would pay for a game. They typically reflect normal selling prices, not sale prices, and also they take a long time to drop since it only changes by 50 points per week. So I would only use it if you're sending out games to earn points, and not if you're planning on buying points with cash.

As for shipping see my post above.

Goozex is like any store, you gotta look for the deals. Right now I've noticed a ton of 360 games have finally hit the 100-200 point range so you can stretch your points really far with that. If you hunt around like any CAGer normally does you get your new releases on sale for cheap, then you can ship it off for 1000 points which you can use to get a ton of undervalued stuff.

It cost me 6.70 but then again, I shipped two games for two orders. :p
For those who work in EB Games, when do trade-in-values change? Is it anytime, or once a week, etc?
Every day; however when prices actually change at the beginning of the day is out of nowhere.

Thanks poiuiu!

Follow up question to those who know:
In terms of deals and promotions, do they occur weekly or monthly only? And if its the former, any day specifically in the week?

I guess the thing is I was thinking of trying to trade a few of my old PS2 games which fetch anywhere from 100 - 300 points. Im wondering if it is worth sending a few smaller games to get a larger game. Unfortunately PS3 games are a bit higher priced in terms of points compared to 360. But I agree. CAGs can get some cheaper games, I have a few PS3 games that I would like to finish before trading in though.

hmm... well I've decided against Goozex under the reasoning that if I trade 4 of my PS2 games getting 100 - 150 per game, That may get me a game for PS3 like MGS4 or Bioshock...However if I have to pay $5 for trade tokens, then another $3 each for shipping. I am already paying $17 to do the whole transaction. So I pay $17, lose 4 games, and gain a $30 game which if I wait and be a CAG I may find it for $15 - $20.

It may be worth it if you find a good deal on a new game, trade it in for 1000 points after you finish it, and spend those to receive some good backlogged games.

In any case, I think I'm gonna stick to Kijiji to unload my semi-hard to find PS2 games (Monster Rancher 3/4, .hack, Breath of fire, etc.)

So I went to ship a game last night within Canada, it was a regular DVD case in a 6" X 9" bubble mailer (it barely fit in), and Canada Post said the cheapest they could do was Regular Parcel which was around 12$? Are there any tricks that you guys are using to make it ship at such low prices?

Anyone know wht retailers in Canada will be carrying Halo 3:ODST CE?

EB doesn't have a sku listed for it, although you have been able to preorder the regular one for some time now.

I ship quite a few games because of Goozex, and all my 100 point games are sent via regular stamps. A 23 cm x 16 cm x 2 cm "envelope" (big enough for a game) costs $2 plus taxes ($2.26 in Quebec).

Yeah, that's what I read online, it says if your package is smaller than 14" X 10" X 0,79", and weighs less than 500g than it qualifies for letter mail. My package was 9" X 6" X the width of a DVD which I cant imagine being bigger than 0,79", and they still said parcel only.

Canada Post has a slot to test out "envelopes". If it passes through, it is $2. Insist that they test it in front of you. Otherwise you can always simply buy two $0.98 stamps, and stick them on yourself, and just drop it into a Mail Box.

The last time I shipped a game in a bubble mailer it didn't quite fit through that slot, but I insisted on it being sent via lettermail. Thankfully it got through. :)

You want to send it lettermail, not parcel. The 6x9 mailer should fit, and as long as it's less than 200g it will be 1.96+tax

The stipulation for small package mailing, ie slipping it thru the slot, is that it has to go in easily with no force. Since it gets tossed onto a conveyor (I assume) and into a slot to be scanned and sent. So all you have to do is ease up on the padding and you'll be good to go.

Just put stamps on and drop it in a mail box, it will go if its well over 2 cm.

When they proposed jacking up the price for anything rigid over 1 cm they said the rest ends up hand sorted even if it makes the 2 cm slot, so they wanted more to cover the cost. Hopefully that idea doesn't come back next jan, but I wouldn't be surprised.

There was a deal on rfd to sign up and get a free pocket novel from one of the publishers. It arrived, in a padded envelope that must have been 4cm thick...with postage for letter mail.

ive got a couple from goozex where people shorted them and stamped it for 100 gm instead of the 200 gm it should have been. Still delivered fine (though that isnt a guaranteed).

I mail N64 games through lettermail and those in a bubble mailer are closr to 4cm thick and they've never sent them back to me. Even if it does get rejected and sent back, just drop it in the mail box again and it will probably be accepted, they have other things to worry about then making sure everything is under 2cm

I ship all my goozex games via lattermail. I have shipped things that are 5cm thick with $2.75 worth of stamps and only had one of them returned. I just took off the return lable the had attached and dropped it back in a drop box and it went through the next time. They are extremely leanient and if you get unlucky one time and they return it just send it back out again the same way and it will go through.

have u guys ever NOT received a game from goozex and they just refund back ur pts? i know most peeps DO NOT use tracking number but just reg 1.96 lettermail cuz its cheap..will that still cover the seller incase the buyer never receives the game?

cheers

Because there is no inexpensive tracking available to Canadians most users will disregard the tracking, most buyers are honest and will still mark it received but if the buyer says it didn't arrive and there is no tracking they will get their points back everytime. On the sellers side, as long as you are a reputable seller and don't get a lot of negatives and it's just once in a while that a buyer doesn't receive it in time they will still let you keep the points and Goozex eats the loss
Is there any way to "save" on taxes for PSN?
Minimize taxes by writing in your profile that you live in Alberta... can be a 8-9% savings in taxes (5% instead of 13-14%) depending on where you live.

hey guys, I just had another couple questions about shipping and goozex; I sent a chap my copy of inFAMOUS on Tuesday evening at about 6pm (June 30th); obviously I missed the Tuesday shipment, and no shipments would've gone out on Wednesday, with it being the greatest day in this country's history, so the game would've been sent out thursday; today he sent me a msg saying he never received it...isn't he being a little anxious on getting the game? Does anyone know the general ship time from Toronto to Montreal?

Also, just say this guy receives the game, but tells goozex he never received it; what steps would I follow to get my points? It seems goozex does a great job at protecting the buying, but not the seller.

game_fanatic, as you know I ship a LOT to Canada and I also trade a lot on Goozex, so here's my two cents:

1) It should likely get there either tomorrow or Thursday if it hasn't gotten there already. Did you get any type of delivery confirmation? I'm sure they offer something similar in Canada as they do in the US. If not, be sure to get it in the future as it's the best way to prove you shipped it out.

2) Goozex does actually protect the buyer a lot too. If you have some way to prove you mailed it out, keep that as evidence. Even if he leaves you a negative saying he didn't get the game, you can argue your point to Goozex's staff. They're very willing to work with sellers and give most sellers the benefit of the doubt.

Just hang on a few more days and see what happens. I'm sure it'll be fine :) Best of luck!

Hey thanks goomba! Unfortunately, the cost of tracking a package such as a video game is over $10, and when most of the games I'm sending through goozex are worth around $10-$15, it doesn't make sense to pay for the tracking, ya know? Good thing I kept the receipt from the post office, though!

Wow that's absolutely insane. Here in the US tracking is like $0.30 - $0.50 for First Class mail and for more expensive methods of shipping (Priority/Express), it's included for free. I never could understand why it's often cheaper to ship from the US to Canada than it is to ship from Canada to Canada. Bizarre =P

Best of luck to you! Keep us updated ^_^

Well after endless friends bugging me to get it, I'm just checking if anyone knows of the best deal for Left 4 Dead for the 360. Thanks for any help!
