Capcom Gamers' Day - STREET FIGHTER 4
News like this is like finding out you're going to have a baby.
What're you talking about? My first reaction to SFIV wasn't "God no, I hope it goes away either on its own or by my hand."
What're you talking about? My first reaction to SFIV wasn't "God no, I hope it goes away either on its own or by my hand."
Oh, stop being a Negative Nancy.

I'd much rather have a port of Dead Rising over Lost Planet.

SFIV makes me even more happy though, so long as it's as great as I believe it can be.

hey OP - Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD (Xbox Live Arcade)
is being released on Playstation network (psn) as well.

----------------------------

OH thank GOODNESS we finally made it to SF4!!!!!!!! I thought we'd never get off two, then we got 3 and now.... 4!!!!!! Can't wait to play it.
What're you talking about? My first reaction to SFIV wasn't "God no, I hope it goes away either on its own or by my hand."
Ha ha!

Oh yeah, and I really hope SFIV is 2D and not lame.

I wonder how much further 2D fighting can be pushed? I'm sure there is something awesome out there that hasn't been thought of yet - I just hope SF4 figures it out.

 Something happened to the OP's article:

This article has been removed.

GamesRadar apologizes for any inconvenience. Why not click around and read some of our other gaming-related stories? We've got girls, guns, gore, and at least one story about dudes with pizzas for heads. Check it out!

Edit: 1up figured it out:

What happened in London was supposed to stay in London until embargoes expired, but Games Radar defied the marketing folks at Capcom this morning and published a story detailing many of the announcements coming out of their media briefing overseas today. Games Radar has since taken down the article, but the announcements are no less intriguing.
"Only on XBOX 360" logo means nothing. Yet again.
Wait... huh... you mean Lost Planet? That relatively decent game everyone was talking about like a year ago? And that everyone has forgotten about by now?

My textbook from 1922 says we'll never walk on the moon because there's no air up there and no way of propelling ourselves past our atmosphere. Once again textbooks mean nothing

Now that the PS3 has caught up to year-old Xbox 360 titles, why the hell wouldn't they release a game they've already invested development in to cash off a few extra bucks?
I'd much rather have a port of Dead Rising over Lost Planet.

Seriously. I don't get why Lost Planet/Dead Rising weren't ported over long before now ("Everybody should get the chance to play million-selling thoroughly-average games!"), but given that they hadn't been, the logical thing would be to assume the sequels would be multi-platform ... unless this is like Sigma, where it's a "You guys get a port, while the lead platform gets the actual sequel" situation. I don't know. I don't get it.

And why were PS3 owners unhappy with Capcom in the first place? Is this a "DMC4 is coming to the 360, so now 1/5 of 1% of PS3 owners are mad" thing? I'd say a late port of Lost Planet is about all that crowd deserves.
I'd much rather have a port of Dead Rising over Lost Planet.
I'd rather have both, if you don't mind me being a greedy bastard.

Supposedly Okami for Wii was "confirmed" by Portugese site MaxisConsolas (reported by a couple French sites and a Brazilian one). When is the embargo up?

So will SF IV feature new characters ala SF III or the classic cast?

Interesting...it's like Capcom is listening to its fans...aside from the Lost Planet part (which is more of a punishment, really.) I wonder if it'll be a new game or enhanced port (with a new camera?)

Okami is the best game I've never beaten. too damn long. but one of these days *shakes fist*

I'm actually holding off on playing Okami now just because of the Wii version that's not even been confirmed yet. I might just realize that it's stupid to wait and start playing it, but it's annoying that there's the possibility but no confirmation.

Announced for PS3, logo and all.
Now axed and on that Wii.

If it's just the PS2 version with added Wii controls, feel free to fire up the PS2 version. It's a dual-analog game all the way. but the paintbrush idea could be used for some kind of Okami spin off on the Wii. you know, something innovative like an Okami mini-game collection.

Yeah, it'd be nice if it was something new rather than yet another port. Eh, I'll play the game when I finish with Wind Waker... and all the shit I'm getting next week. Maybe.

Street Fighter 4........................I am speechless.

I am still in shock about hearing this. So freaking happy that I am numb.

May all that is holy guide the development teams hands in not screwing this up.
SFIV: Sucks until proven awesome.
I believe Capcom is dead serious about making this game right. They know how big of a deal this game is, and they're just as good at reinvigoraing old franchises as they are at rehashing them.

Haven't been this excited about an announcement for awhile. I didn't think anything could top the Sonic in Smash news...boy was I wrong. The only thing that could possibly be better than this would be an FFVII remake announcement. >_>

With that said, please don't make this game 3D...and bring back Sakura and Ibuki, or there will be HELL to pay Capcom. HELLLLL!!!!!!111 *shakes fist*

Speechless. That's another one off the "no chance in hell" list. I seriously thought I'd never see a Street Fighter IV. Wow.

Also, anyone who's holding out hope on it being 2D, look, just, don't set yourselves up for disappointment. I'm willing to place a large wager against it being 2D. I will gladly eat my hat if I'm proven wrong, but look guys. Even SNK isn't making any more 2D King of Fighters (KOF 12 is confirmed 3D), and they were the biggest 2D diehards this side of a doujin circle. There's just no way it'll be 2D, but on the bright side, I've got a great feeling that they might finally get a 3D Street Fighter done right.

I don't know whether to be insulted or laugh at Lost Planet going to the PS3. Obviously Capcom has not read much into third party sales on the PS3, and with the high cost to develop for the PS3 Capcom isn't going to get much out of putting Lost Planet on the PS3. I think most people got a taste of LP on the PC and 360 and It's cheaper on those platforms already. Regardless, exclusivity is certainly a thing of the past and the 360 is proof of that cosidering the "Only on XBox" or "Only on XBox and PC" logos to be mute, especially if Bioshock hits the PS3.

I own Lost Planet but haven't put in anytime into it yet thanks to Halo 3. Maybe should get to that more.

SF4 is the best gaming news I've heard in months and a few of my friends didn't believe me when I told them/were in a state of shock.
Even SNK isn't making any more 2D King of Fighters (KOF 12 is confirmed 3D)
Not what I read. I've been hearing it's going to be 2.5D with cel shading (think Rumble Fish). However, SNK has yet to reveal any official details about KOFXII so this is all speculation.

Oh, and lets not forget who made Capcom Fighting Evolution (Capcom USA). Dear God, I hope SFIV won't be made by the same team...and if it is, I hope they learned their lesson.

I hope that it is 2D. Imagine the fluid animation of 3rd Strike combined with the hi-res sprites of SSF2THDR and Guilty Gear XX. Sweetness indeed!!!

wow my head just exploded simoltaneously alongside my penis. FINALLY!

ss2thd + street fighter 4 is incredible. If they make it 3d i will fucking kill someone.

KOF 12 is still going to play like a 2D fighter, that's not changing.

Ya know, the term "2.5D" just breeds confusion, because it's used to refer to many very different things. "2.5D" has been used to refer to games which have 2D characters moving along all three axises in 3D environments (such as Paper Mario), games with real-time 3D backgrounds sitting behind 2D characters moving along just 2 planes (like The Rumble Fish, which, by the way, doesn't use sprites of the characters, but rather sprites of their body segments, which are attached at the joints and rotated around each other to form animations; either way, they aren't "cel-shaded," because the sprite segments are hand-drawn, while cel-shading is strictly a 3D graphics rendering technique), games with fully 3D graphics but strictly 2D gameplay (like Klonoa 2 or Viewtiful Joe), and even isometric games like SimCity 2000, 3000, or 4.

The only word so far on what KOF XII will look like comes from Yoshihito Koyama, who very specifically described it as "a 3D fighter that is shaded to look 2D." It sounds a hell of a lot more like he's describing a fully-3D graphics game with cel-shading, than a game with 3D backgrounds and sprite characters sitting in front of them. The language is clear: all shading techniquess aside, KOF XII will have fully 3D graphics, one way or another.

Just like the "SF IV in 2D" people, the KOF XII 2D diehards are just setting themselves up for disappointment. I'd like it to be 2D as well, but I'm not going to allow to naivety let me wind up massively disappointed.

Of course it's possible that Koyama was misinterpreted, but again, there's no reason to set one's self up for the potential disappointment.
KOF 12 is still going to play like a 2D fighter, that's not changing.
Where did I say anything about how KOF XII will play? And yeah, I'd bet my ass it'll play strictly 2D, but to note, they haven't actually overtly confirmed that. :p

Just clearing up any missunderstandings people might think when the read "KOF 12 is confirmed 3D." and "SNK isn't making any more 2D King of Fighters"

SNK Overseas Manager Yoshihito Koyama revealed that the game is going to be "3D mixed with 2D"; this has been interpreted as using cel-shading to give the game a 2D look, but could merely mean that KOF XII will use newly-drawn 2D sprites on 3D backgrounds

^ This sounds more like a 2D Fighter, not a 3D fighter to me.
I wonder how much further 2D fighting can be pushed? I'm sure there is something awesome out there that hasn't been thought of yet - I just hope SF4 figures it out.
regarding this and other similar comments, what I think is this...

it takes a lot of balls to make another street fighter. A LOT.

it's not something that you can just make becoz of success of franchise. There are a lot of great fighting games that nobody plays after a few years.

Tekken, KOF, Virtua Fighter, Guilty Gear XX?? The games get purged once the next version comes out.

Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive, shyt's all forgotten!

Street Fighter is the ONLY fighting game that gets competitively played YEARS after its release. Granted yes older versions do get purged, but Third Strike and Super Turbo are still in heavy competitive rotation among fighting gamers.

for a development team to decide to even make a Street Fighter IV... they have an idea. They have a concept, one that that believe will work.

They're not jus doing it jus to do it, jus to please the fans. They're doing it coz they got a reason for doing it.

so all I can do is wait... I aint gonna question shyt from here on out. Just patiently wait and play a lot of 3S and Accent Core in the meantime.
^ This sounds more like a 2D Fighter, not a 3D fighter to me.
All of the info regarding KOF XII being 2D or 3D comes from a single short Kotaku article, which states the following:

"The last non-spinoff entry in the series was KOF XI in 2005, and the upcoming game is a 3D fighter that is shaded to look 2D."

A 3D fighter that is shaded to look 2D. That sounds a hell of a lot more like it's describing a full 3D graphics with cel-shading, than a game with 3D backgrounds and sprite characters.

^ I see where you're coming from, however I still think classifying it as a 3D fighter sounds wrong. You wouldn't call Killer Insticnt a 3D fighter would you? If it looks 2D and plays 2D. Anyways this disscusion deserves to be on the fighting thread. So I'll move it over there.

also, Okami for the Wii was announced.

I wouldn't call Killer Instinct 3D, because all of it's graphics are 2D, pre-rendered sprites (save for the backgounds in Gold).

I'm not talking about if the gameplay is on 2 or 3 planes. I'm talking about if the graphics for the characters are sprites, or polygonal 3D models animated and rendered in real-time.

Also, fuck you in the ass, jimfoley. Quit trying to start shit.
I'm thinking that's gotta be Super Street Fighter II HD Remix...
I thought I was on your ignore list?

And yes, it's the first gameplay shot of the HD remix game.
But I wasn't about to dig up the old thread about it.

Ummm...I can only assume you're joking/trolling, but to answer your question: The word comes from Yoshihito Koyama, one of SNK's marketing managers, that KOF XII will be "a 3D fighter that is shaded to look 2D."

Furthermore, for what it's worth, the arcade hardware it's running on is insanely powerful, just about the most powerful arcade hardware available, and the home version is going to be for 360/PS3.

Bottom line, how about you get your facts straight, and realize that they haven't shown anything of KOFXII except for the logo and a couple character arts, before you try to make baseless statements.
