Do you buy Capcom games regularly? Are you a capcom fanboy/girl? Do you wait in line everytime there is a new Street Fighter/Resident Evil/Mega Man/Insert Franchise Here title? Or, are you tired of Mega Man XXII? Did 20 Street Fighter 2 games without a #3 on the end sour you? Do you grow tired of them milking their franchises to death? And am I the only person who thinks the prices for RE 2 & 3 for the GC on ebay are CRAZY?! I personally have mixed feelings about Capcom. I enjoy many of their games. But, I don't think Viewtiful Joe needed a sequel, and I think the Megaman franchise has been run into the ground. Resident Evil still wows me though.

At least Capcom is making good games - no matter how small the improvement over the last version. I'd rather play Viewtiful Joe 2 than a similar game with the same art style but different characters.... maybe Viewtiful Moe?

Well the RE 2 and 3 situation has nothing really to do with Capcom as a company. But every other publisher out there is just as guilty as Capcom for pumping out sequels.

RE 2 & 3 go for so much because they are rare, it's got nothing to do with Capcom really. And they milk franchises to death because people will still buy them, but like nintendo does and basically every game publisher/developer that has been around for so long. If the game sells enough copies you'll nearly always see a sequel or spin-off that follows.

I like Capcom. Although some of their franchises (Mega Man) are very stale, many of their games are just very well done.

What do you mean milk their franchises to death?!? You are insane.

/goes to play Super Mega Street Fighter II 3/4 Alpha Extreme 3D+: The Journey Of The New Challengers Through Darkness To A New Age Of Heroes To End All Battles, Special Tournament Edition

I'd say the only company I could be considered a fanboy for is Capcom. I absolutely love anything Street Fighter, Resident Evil or Megaman. Those three franchises alone, plus some other really good series/games (Onimusha, Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry, and all those are in this generation alone) make me loyal to Capcom.

All the developers do it, so I don't really hold it against Capcom. As long as the new sequels are at least on par with previous installments, I'm usually pretty happy with the results.

Capcom's got more personality and "culture" to it than a lot of other third-party developers out there.

Think of the impressive array of characters in a game like Marvel vs. Capcom 2... you've got people like Captain Commando, and Ryu, and Morrigan, and Megaman, and that cactus thing, and the Resident Evil chick. There's not too many companies that could pull that off. Would "Marvel vs. Activision" have worked? Or "Marvel vs. EA Games" - oh, wait a minute...

Yeah, I guess I could be considered a Capcom fanboy, although I have no problem flinging shit when the release something putrid such as Capcom Fighting Evolution. At the same time, most of the products that I actually purchase from them meet or exceed my expectations, so I have no problem giving them my money.
I love CAPCOM.
there are too many CAPCOM game series from CAPCOM that I like, be it Bionic Commando, Ghouls and Ghosts/ Maximo, Street Fighter, Onimusha, RE and all the rest.

The games they make are the ones I look forward to the most, and the ones that I usually buy at full price
They're my favorite 3rd party developer, but they've been in a slump lately.
I would agree that prior to RE4 and Zelda minish cap, they were in a slump.

but they definitely look better in 2005, with DMC 3 and Killer 7 pending and looking good at the moment.

i'm not a capcom fanboy, but street fighter is probably my favorite series ever. yes, i look forward to every capcom fighting game, but that's because 2d fighting is my genre of choice and capcom is primo in that area (though not as of late... cfe and what not).

megaman isn't really aimed at a general audience anymore... you're right, the endless sequels get tiring. but not to megaman fans. it's like... madden or the wrestling games, you know? not a whole lot of change progressively in each game, but those that already like the formula have something new.

you know what i think is tiring and boring? fps. there's a lot of them, and i really don't think there needs to be any more. but that's just me.

They're like Squaresoft for me, they've earned my favoritism because they continue to produce games I enjoy.

If the sequels all started sucking, they'd lose my support. Right now, thanks to Viewtiful Joe, Breath of Fire V and Onimusha 3... they're still at the top of my list.

although capcom needs to reslease a new street fighter game that dosent use the same damn sprites over and over again I still love the company ill consider myself a fanboy . I love almost all there franchises . on a side note those damn megaman games should be like 19.99 cause they really are the same damn game with a new "story" and bosses..

Not all their games are super-long franchises. Let's not forget their awesome games from the 8-bit era, like Commando and Bionic Commando, and didn't they do Ghosts N Goblins, and many others?

Capcom has some good developers but they also have some crappy inhouse development studios (Clover for example, responsible for Clock Tower 3 and the horribly low-budgeted RE Dead Aim). Their US arm of marketing were responsible for some of the most boneheaded decisions (B&W manuals in major titles, removal of original dialog in key titles such as Onimusha 2 & 3).

Gotta love it when they marketed Onimusha 3 as "the final chapter" and then did a 180 by stating how they plan to release a new Onimusha game every year in their new annual report.

I say at least they open up new franchises (most recent: Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe). With its different "Studios" (also known as Clover for one of the studios) it seems to be a little more creative lately with Otogi (... cant remember if that's the right name, but the dog looks beuatiful!) and Killer 7 (witch I have been hoping/waiting forever to get released over here on PS2!)... Creative and super milk supreme. So I am divided on capcom. I like em and I respect em, but ... uh, I like em :p

P.S. to Cheapass Gundam: I Love the sig! i didn't even have to look at the tv screen to know what the girl was playing :)

I think it is Okami, and not Otogi

I LOVE Street Fighter, and pretty much anything else by Capcom. They are one of my favorite companies.

I need to get one of these. Makes a good Valentine's gift.

I hated how they kept releasin all kinda different versions of street fighter and same thing with their other franchises. But out of all the third party developers, I like Capcom's games and franchises the most.

I liked some of their 16 bit games like Ghouls n' ghosts, megaman x, breath of fire and their x-men game for the snes. But I hated the old Street Fighters and its endless supply of sequels, special editions, etc. However I did buy Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but mainly for the art and Marvel characters.

Anyone remember the Aladdin game for the snes, rereleased on gba?(man that game looked horrible compared to the Genesis version) Actually if I remember correctly, capcom produced a few disney games in the old days and they all looked pretty bad. Now that I think of it most of their games during the 16-bit era looked horrible.

Luckily, Capcom has progressed a lot since then. Someone earlier compared them to Square. I think Square is actually dropping in quality. Final Fantasy will always be great but the rest of their games don't really shine. Kingdom Hearts was great to look at but it had some major faults.

No, I'm sorry. I don't think anyone but Nintendo can be as guilty. Although, they do produce a lot of good games, so overall, I like Capcom.

Capcom Fighting Evolution stunk up the joint.
I like Clock Tower 3 though. It's short, but that's not always a bad thing. And, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was good, but the jazz music has got to go.

Capcom is probably my favorite video gamer developer. Also, with the SF2 re-releases. You guys gotta understand that they did it for the SF fans, each re-release contained a bunch of bug fixes and even some improvements. SSF2T is still one of the best fighting games, in my book.

i love um they kept me happy with mega-man x when i waz poor. if it wasnt for them id probably not be a gamer anymore. and sf 2 dont rememer which version, gave me blisters i didnt know any of the characters moves so i button mashed on the snes controller

I like capcom, they have consistantly made good games with every generation of console. I've been a fan since the good old ghost n goblin days. But my favorite games have always been the arcade fighters and beat'em ups. Anyway, I don't mind them rehashing some of the old titles. Rumour has it that they are making an arcade compilation later this year similar to the ones Midway and Namco has been making recently. I hope it has a bunch of games that never made it to the consoles. My list of games I want to see are:
Willow
Aliens vs. Predator
Bioionic Commando
Knights of the Round

Capcom fanboy here (despite my Richter Belmont avatar). I don't think there's another 3rd party comapny like Capcom (for my interests at least).

Megaman (tops for me)
Street Fighter
Ghouls 'n' Ghosts/Maximo
Devil May Cry

are just some of my favorite game series PERIOD.

And U wanna talk recycling the same s**t, look no further than nintendo and their re-releasing of games like Mario 64 (now for DS) and the whole Super Mario Series (at $30 bones a piece no less on GBA).

At least Capcom makes sequals as opposed to re-releasing 5-10 year old "hits" (I'm sure there are exceptions to this).

If they ever get to Mega Man 9 (the old Mega Man, not X) I'll buy it and keep buying every sequel till the day I die.

anyone know any info about a sequeal or port of the power stone games? those games were fucking sweet. is there anything we can do it get a port of part 2 or a sequel?

I'm playing Chaos Legion and I think it rocks. It beats the hell outta Devil May Cry 2... but that doesn't say much.

Megamans are awesome... but wearing thin... X7 was horrible and Axl bites. Mega Man Zero and the battle arenas hold no interest for me.

The only firghters of capcom I only got into was powerstone and MvsC2 on the dreamcast

Onimusha 1 and 3 were great... 2 was eh..

Am I the only person that really didn't care for Viewtiful Joe?

Mega Man 9 was created but never released in the US. It's called Rockman and Forte I believe which translates to Mega Man and Bass. It's a great game... and emulation is a wonderful thing.

everyone talks shit about street fighter and all of it's upgrades, but you're really talking about sequels for different kinds of fighting games here.

and yeah, those crap ex games.

but sf2 is not the same as alpha is not the same as III. think about it. switch the characters out. they're new games. even the vs. series. they only use the same characters, but it's like a new game series.

meanwhile kof is like the same game for almost a decade now... and yes, i know there has been slight changes, but you're essentially playing the same game engine over and over.

Hmm if I was on a deserted island, and I had to choose 1 developer to makes game for me for the rest of my life (or until I get voted off) I'd go with capcom hands down (It's ok Konami, I still love you). Every developer is guilty of milking there games, some more than others (watches EA logo fly by) but that's fine as long as the game is good, if it's bad lets say like Devil May Cry 2, then we have a problem (which will hopefully be fixed with 3).

I can one up that choice... Blizzard! You'll have to wait 6 years between games, but it doesn't matter, because you'll probably still be playing the first game you got from them...

Between StarCraft, WarCraft 3 and Diablo 2 I could always be entertained. Especially if that desert island has a connection to battle.net =) Then you could add WoW and hundreds of Use Map Settings maps...

If not Blizzard, then Konami... MGS, Suikoden, Castlevania, Contra... The don't have many series, but the ones they have are solid gold.
