Lol, that's so troll. Only reason I never got the Japanese LE was because they didn't accept my card and it sold out.

I know this deal was floating around about a month ago, but I just picked up a Fable 3 LE from Best Buy for $29.99 and tax. It doesn't look like they are selling well near me because my bb has about 7-8 of them.
 
Hey wouldn't the Two Worlds Royal edition Bundle be included in this thread?? It is cheaper than its MSRP value, but not an old CE

Damn, I've been eyeing that Lost Planet CE...I just received a Mass Effect 2 LE guide from them...the corner of the package was ripped open, but the guide itself was perfect...sigh of relief there. I guess I'll pull the trigger on the Lost Plant CE and Prey CE. Lemme know how your Prey CE comes out please.
 
If you aren't going to update the thread with photos of ALL of the collector's edition, why not remove the cursed mountain one...looks odd to just have that one...

This thread has potential, but I don't see people constantly contributing as the thread grows if the OP isn't regularly updated.

You should ask for new submissions to be in red similar to other threads so it will be easier for you.

Great thread guys. Keeping with the Collector's/Limited Editions can be cumbersome. Very few of them are actually worthwhile. But, this thread helps a lot in finding that needle in the haystack.
 
Might want to put that some of the MMOs are dead. A review on the Auto Assault Limited Edition states that the game is now dead and no longer has servers.

Also some others I saw are:

There's a GameStop near La Jolla (UTC/Westfield mall) that has 2 copies of the Bioshock 2 CE, and since the are up on a high shelf, they appear to be in pristine condition (unlike the copies I've seen almost everywhere else that look like they've gone through a wood chipper).

Looking online these appear to be discounted to $30 now, but I didn't confirm that this is the price they are charging in store.
 
There was a BS2 CE at ebgames with a sticker saying "Now 29.99" or something like that, so I think it may be a universal price at that retailer.

man! I used to go to that mall when I was a kid..they had this arcade called yellow brick road...memories.. anyways, yeah its 29.99 both instore and online.

There are a few special edition systems. A lot of special edition Pokemon Gameboys. And two different special edition pokemon N64 systems.
 
I was going to report seeing the Dante's Inferno Divine Edition (PS3) on clearance at Target for pennies under ten dollars, but I can't seem to confirm the existence of a "standard" edition. Was this "Divine Edition" in fact the only one on PS3 and promoted with references to bonus materials on the back to look like a special edition? Or did the 360 version inexplicably lack these things?

Might go back and grab it anyway. Looking at the reviews, it seems to be wroth ten bucks.

Yes, the PS3 only had the Divine Edition. It was the start of EA's PS3 bonus trend that continued with Extraction for Dead Space 2 and Frontline with Medal of Honor.

Yeah, I mean a special/collector's edition game, not the handheld or console. I don't want to buy another gameboy or n64, etc.
 
Have there ever been any SNES/NES collector edition games? Growing up I never really bothered to look for different editions, I just wanted the game. But now it just seems fun to collect old things like this.
 
That's an excellent question, and I'm really trying to think of one. The demo edition Starfox cart (only available through the Nintendo Power catalog for about three days before it sold out) comes to mind, but that was something offered after Starfox's release and wasn't a retail version with optional extras. I used to order such things from the Squaresoft catalogs as game soundtracks, but I don't recall there ever being any special editions or bundles of the games with anything extra. Earthbound shipped in a box large enough to accommodate a strategy guide, but unless I'm mistaken, this was the only way to get it at launch. Super Mario All-Stars had two versions, but they were available in separate time frames, making the one with World an update rather than a special edition. The first cartridge game I can think of with a limited version was Zelda 64 with its varied casing coloring -- for NES and SNES, I'm at a loss for an example.

EDIT: I guess there's Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage, but this was simply having the second wave have a normal cartridge coloring rather than giving a choice of version at launch.

I don't recall anything that was labeled as collector's editions, just bundled with random items:

So, Fallout New Vegas is $60 on gamestops website, but it's out of stock. I'm not sure if the gamestop by me even has it, or if they will have it at that online price. Does anyone know of any good deals for Fallout New Vegas, online?

Several Zelda games including the NES titles have had gold cart editions.
 
This past Monday I was at my Best Buy and they had the Alan Wake LE for $60 still. They have a ton of them so I am just waiting on that price drop.

Yes, but those weren't limited issue and didn't give buyers a choice of a typical or special version, and if anything, it's the later-released gray carts that are hard to find.

I think the real qualifier here would be a game that offered two versions at launch at different price points or with a very limited release window on the special one.
 
Ended up picking up BS2 CE at Gamestop for $30, it also had the now for $29.99 sign on it. Also I forgot to post but last week I picked up the GOW 3 CE at a different gamestop also for $29.99. I guess they gave it to me at the new GOW3 price instead of it used. Still not bad.

I can confirm the BS2 LE is 30 in-store, mine has one of each console left.

I got Fallout New Vegas CE for PS3 at a Gamestop last week for $49.99.
It showed $30 off on reciept as some promotion. Not sure if it was a temporary thing

Yes it was temporary. The sale ended Monday according to employees. I got screwed out of it so I am contacting the district manager to allow a price override.

That wasn't a special edition though; that's just the way the game was released.

I remember our local TRU clearancing those out at $25 back in the day. A buddy of mine bought every one they had. Turned a nice profit there after a few years, but he's been kicking himself ever since as the prices skyrocketed.

Glad I never got rid of mine. lol

I still have mine! Sold the box to a CAG a few years ago. Kept the game and guide. My son played some of it, recognized the characters from Smash Bros.

So they never released a stand-alone version of it? I honestly don't remember.

Which brings up an interesting point. Does that mean Super Mario All-Stars for the Wii cannot be considered a LE/CE if the only edition ever released was the one version with the extras?
 
No, they never did.

Earthbound was a fantastic game.

I still laugh at the fact that Ness and Lucas are apparently cool enough to put in Smash Bros, but not cool enough to rerelease Earthbound, or do a north american Mother 3 release , the game Lucas is from.


Mother 3 is beautiful, every gamer should play it before they die.
 
Huh, I had no idea Perfect Dark Zero was still in print! I may rebuy that. Hate how I got like 10 points for finishing THE ENTIRE GAME but I enjoyed it, at least back in 2005. (As always I wish I could decide which system to standardize on, 'cause if I go Xbox then I want a copy of this in case I ever feel the urge to play it. If I go Playstation, then no point)

I don't understand...I mean Mother 3 is actually out already right? I don't even know what system it finally came out on...I know it was in development forever.

And why the HECK wasn't it released? Earthbound is 100x better than games Nintendo releases all the time. YOu don't skip Earthbound and then release Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Nintendogs, Wii Music, Wii Party, Glory of Hercules, Excitebots, etc., etc...

I suppose I should be thankful we get the Mario RPG games... Heck, that company that does Mario & Luigi did something really neat looking before that that we never got either :whistle2:/

If that winds up being the case, I would put it in a separate class (along with titles like Earthbound) - that being games that just came with collectible extras as a matter of course. That's not meant to denigrate them at all by any means; Earthbound is far and away more collectible and valuable than most "true" CE/LE.

Yeah, it came out for GBA after getting canned on the 64DD and 64... It'd be great if they did a compilation of 1-3 or something.

Geez. I love the GBA too. They so need to I guess just dump it on the DS or 3DS and get it out already.

That could have been perfect for Working Designs, if they still existed, were willing to do a cartridge game again, and Nintendo would give it to them at a reasonable price...
 
There is a way to play it, and the folks at Starmen.net have a translation patch for it, the catch? Legally obtaining a Mother 3 rom. Hope you have deep pockets.



Speaking of ultra collectibles, there was a gorgeous anodized red GBA that released with Mother 3 in japan. Very limited. Cheapest I've seen is $500. I will own one someday...
