cheap jackie chan movies?

Best Buy is good place to start. I saw few bundles of Jackie Chan dvds there. I bought is 5.0 Jackie pack with 3 movies. Then i saw another $24 for tin pack their too. I dont know the names of the movies. Their all good movie and i seen them all. just can't remember the names.

Also the movies the others have mentioned are top notch and are worth the price.

Do anyone know where i can get Project A 2 ? I saw the first one at my local Walmart but not the 2nd one.

If you want to import them try www.dddhouse.com or www.yesasia.com
they have box sets for Project A and Police Story Trilogy.
Fox /Fortune Star have also released a couple jackie chan movies with the original cantonese tracks (dubbed track is also available on the DVD). They run for around $5-$6 at places like Bestbuy/Circuit City
the legend of the drunken master owns all
The original uncut version, called "Drunken Master II," truly owns all. No crappy dub, better music, and better sound effects. :)
Were their any additional scenes in the uncut version?
Yeah, there is one additional scene at the end. However, most people think it is in poor taste (it shows what happens to Fei Hung after the final battle). However, that's not the reason why to get the uncut, undubbed version.

The music in the English version is OK, but the music in the original version is awesome. Also, the sound effects blow away the English version's effects. In fact, there are a lot of spots in the English version that are missing sound effects!

been out of print for quite awhile. the Thrakral DVD was the best version available, and you might be able to find it somewhere but its OOP and its not even perfect. The aspect ratio wrong with picture being cut off from both sides.

The only real versions available were the old mei-ah VCD and Laserdisc.

I've seen the Thrakral on ebay but they might be boots.

Owning a truly perfect DVD version of Drunken Master 2 is many a martial arts fan's dream, but as long as Miramax owns the worldwide distribution rights, it's probably not going to happen.

I was just about to post that link, but you beat me to it.

And what are the odds of anyone ever releasing the Police Story movies on DVD in the U.S.? I would love to see it happen, but by now, I doubt it ever will.

yeah, probably won't happen, unless someone decides to do it as a budget title thing.

Have you looked into the recent Fortune Star Box Set? It's a pretty nice boxset with PS's 1-3 and theres no region coding or anything.

Here it is at yesasia, although they are pretty expensive. i was able to get mine in Chinatown NYC for about $28.

Also, while people have had success with HKflix, people who have had problems tend to be screwed. So if anyone's interested in that Drunken Master 2, just be cautious.

I've been wanting to pick that for awhile. I'm just not too sure how the quality of it is. And I don't want to regret spending $40 on it. Though it might be worth it just to finally have those classics on DVD.

hmm, that's the only thread I can still find talking about them.
Like I said, I don't mean to bash them, and a lot of people have had no troubles ordering from them, but when there seems to be an ordering problem it is a true hassle.

A lot people seem to like Layoyo.com or DDDhouse.com for ordering HK stuff, even though it is international. Yesasia is pretty good, but sometimes their prices on products is ridiculously high.

I'm lucky enough to live in NYC where in Chinatown I can go and get things for relatively the same price as in HK and cheaper than Yesasia or HKFlix.

the quality should be fine
I have the majority of the Fortune Star/IVL box sets and they're all great
I've gotta pick up this http://www.dddhouse.com/dddhouse/en/index.jsp?action=productDetail&productID=4768 when it comes out

I find it funny how this is like the third thread asking for cheap Jackie Chan movies. They really should have just released his movies the same way they did with the "Jet Li Collection." Those movies may have been badly dubbed, but atleast they got a proper U.S. release. Being the legend that he is, Jackie Chan should've definitely gotten the same treatment.
do you know a place to get super cheap jackie chan movies? :bouncy:
I believe (don't quote me) but you can check media play in their BINS they may have some OLD SCHOOL chan-attack movies...

I personally can't stand him, nor Jet Li...they have nothing on the master.

I'm wondering why none of you posted in my topic when I asked this question last month.

=(

Some of us did, including me. I even made a reference to it in my previous post. But we all pretty much brought up the same things. I'm just surprised and thrilled to see that so many Cag's are Jackie Chan fans.

I am a HUGE Jackie Chan fan...

I got these from the $5 bin at Wal-Mart the last few years...

Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin
Fearless Hyena
Fearless Hyena II
Killer Meteors (He plays the villain in this one. Not a great film IMO, but worth it to see him as a bad guy.)
Dragon Fist
To Kill With Intrigue
Spiritual Kung-Fu
Shaolin Wooden Men
Half a Loaf of Kung Fu (one my favorite early Chan films)
Rush Hour
Rush Hour 2 (I got both Rush Hours for a little under $5 each at Wal-Mart. YMMV.)
Mr. Nice Guy
First Strike
Rumble in the Bronx

I also got City Hunter from Best Buy for I think $12.

All my other Chan films are on VHS.

I was going to make a new topic but since this one is already here...

I went to Wal-Mart today and they had Thunderbolt on DVD for $13.72. First time I think it has been on DVD. Pretty good film.

I wish they would of released City Hunter Uncut, but I understand why it is cut.

If you don't mind VHS, Tai Seng released a great copy of Drunken Master 2.

I can't find Legend of Drunken Master II anywhere. Does it even have a dub? I don't care for subbed movies, reading the text spoils the action.

I didn't realize City Hunter was cut. Why did they do that?

I agree about the subs spoiling the action. Are you trying to find the DVD?

Yup, all DVDs come in in surround sound and high definition with my system, and my VCR doesn't support either.

So far, I haven't found Drunken Master 1/2, Police Story 2, and Half a Loaf of Kung Fu. If you could help me out with some websites, I'd gretly appreciate it. :)

Try these Yahoo Shopping search results...

Half a Loaf of Kung Fu

Drunken Master

Legend of Drunken Master

I couldn't find anything for a dub of Police Story 2.

I belong in the group of folks who only buy subtitled DVD's from the East, so this doesn't apply to many of you who prefer dubbed movies: HKFlix.com carries a fairly spotty range of movies. Some movies I have ordered from them were solidly in the bootleg category (crappy bootlegs, no less) and others have been fine.

Their Fortune Star version (note that their site allows you to compare differences in multiple versions for any film; look on the right-hand side of the page for any one film) of Police Story 2 is an excellent version, in my opinion. The case is pretty cheap (it's thin cardboard...glossy, but without a clasp) but it actually has an interview with one of the actors as an extra, which is a relatively rare refinement in an asian DVD.

The Drunken Master II DVD which others have provided links to on their site is inferior to the VHS version, in my opinion. The video quality is lacking and even the subtitles are translated more poorly.
