Chris Benoit kills wife, 7 year old son and then self.

I'm hoping that WWE will finally give him the respect he deserves. He was the finest wrestler of the past 10 years. I'm going to miss seeing him wrestle dearly.

I taped the Eddie Guerrero tribute, and could only bring myself to watching that once following the initial run, I don't think I'll be taping this one. These things are too sad to watch more than once. Especially when it's someone you've watched for so long.

I know I've only met Chris Benoit once, and he has no idea who I (or anyone in this topic) is, but at the same time I'm sure I don't just speak for myself when I say that I felt I knew him.

So, to lose a person that has brought you that much entertainment, a person who was one of the few bright spots left in the WWE, a person who came across as one of the genuine good guys in a pretty ugly business, well that my friends is quite upsetting.

I'm sure it will be sad, despite the fact that I don't feel the same sort of personal loss many of you do (yes, he's Chris fucking Benoit, but not someone I knew personally). Nevertheless, if this is going to be a proper tribute to Benoit, then this will be the best goddamned wrestling you've ever seen in your life.

Though, if they don't stop the McMahon death storyline dead in its fucking tracks tonight, then I will stop watching WWE for a year. Strictly TNA, OVW, and Lucha Libre.

I know how you feel. I'm going to tape the tribute tonight just like I taped Eddie's. I really can only watch them once, I hate to see people hurting. Watching all their friends cry and tell stories just about breaks my heart. The fact that his family is involved too makes this all the more tragic. Benoit was a great wrestler and a real professional. I'm really glad I got to see him perform live a few times including one of his matches in WCW with Booker T during the best of 7 match thing.

Not to change the subject too much, I just thought of this since Bret Hart is my favorite wrestler. Is it just me or has Bret had an unbelievable amount of people close to him die over the last 5 years? We all know that Chris was a family friend of the Harts and him and Bret wrestled in a fantastic match as a tribute to Owen.

I believe in Heaven and I hope he and his family are there now. If Chris is there then I have a feeling him and Eddie are putting on a 5-star match as we speak. R.I.P. Chris..... you were an all-time great. :applause:

This is exactly how I feel. I've been watching Chris for so many years and he made a connection to me as fan. I'll miss Chris Benoit.

I haven't watched Raw for a few weeks, mainly because of the whole Vince thing. But I will be watching tonight to hope that they do Benoit right. He was one of the main reasons I even watched Smackdown at all while he was on that show, and now all of a sudden, he's gone? It just doesn't seem right.

I'm mostly an agnostic/occasional Catholic, and can't help but think that the afterworld is amassing quite a promotion. You could have a technical three-way dance to end all three-way dances b/w Owen, Eddie, and Benoit, as well as a hardcore match spanning decades b/w Bruiser Brody and Mike Awesome. Bam Bam Bigelow versus someone else...

Jesus. This is really upsetting.
Seems kind of weird that WWE would find out he was dead before the local authorities?
That's not what the report said; it said the authorities "have not confirmed" Benoit's death. That merely means they aren't speaking to the press yet.

Guess I'm hoping too much for him to be alive and that this is merely a horrible WWE angle =/

The only thing that can possibly come out of this is the canning of all future "character X dies" angles. I mean, it should've been ended after Sherri Martel, but now? Goddamn this sucks.

At the same time, if this is a work then the WWE will have trumped one of their most tasteless storylines of all time within a month by an even more tasteless one.

Chris Benoit still holds the title for "Hardest Powerbomb Ever". On the Chris Benoit DVD, check out the match between Eddie Guerrero and Benoit from Nitro (Benoit's debut match I believe, alas, a quick scan of youtube didn't reveal it). Chris nearly kills Eddie with what is, from what I've seen, the hardest powerbomb ever.

Rest in peace Chris Benoit, you were one of the very best of all time.
I've also read that no websites or news places out of Atlanta has reported Benoit and his family's death. They could be behind on the news, but I'm hoping it is just another stupid WWE storyline.
It's on TNA's official website. I feel like crying right now.
Huh.

Seems kind of weird that WWE would find out he was dead before the local authorities? Who found them? Didn't whoever find them call the police? How can this still be "unconfirmed"?
Another forum I visit said that other media outlets may have let this one slide due to them reporting on Vince's death and being laughed at.

I come home to find a Benoit Memorial topic?

What the fuck? I cannot believe this. Benoit was one of the most impressive showmen to ever step into the ring, and he was on his way to another title win, which just salts the wound even more. Another great wrestler shot down in his prime.

RIP Benoit. You will be greatly missed

I was actually watching last night's PPV with my dad and brother an hour or so ago. When we got to the ECW title match, my brother went online to find out some info on why Benoit wasn't at the show.

Seconds later my brother tells us, "Chris Benoit is dead."

Unbelievable. :whistle2:(

no big news stations have covered this yet, I was expecting to see this on yahoo.com front page or CNN but I don't see it anywhere. Just the wrestling websites.
They ended the storyline.

At least they did something right finally.
Agreed.

R.I.P. Benoit.

Hrm, didn't know it was starting early.

Missed the beginning, I guess, but I caught the montage. Gave me the chills to the max.

I am sick. I loved Benoit, and it is so sad to see him and his family gone.

R.I.P Benoit Family

Wow, I'm in shock right now. I am very sad right now, as Chris was one of my favorite wrestlers and because of how he dedicated himself to his craft. He is one of the greats for all the things he did for other wrestlers in his career. R.I.P. Chris Benoit and family. You will be missed.
