Chris Benoit kills wife, 7 year old son and then self.
is the whole episode just classic benoit matches? I'm west coast. Doesn't come on here for another 3 hours.
Yes it is. Wish I had my computer PVR recording it.
excellent man and awsome talent I hope like fuck this is not just another stunt by wwf
Doubtful. Fox News is now reporting it.
So this had to be a blatant attack at the Benoit family right? Not much else can explain it.
i hate to bring this up....but where is kevin sullivan...he has legit heat with benoit and nancy
What happened with Vince? I missed it.
He opened the show in the empty arena. He talked about how tonight was originally was going to be the burial of his fictional character but now with what happened tonight instead is going to be a tribute to Chris Benoit.

Thanks.

This is sad news.

What the hell? I don't follow wrestling, but I was flipping through channels and caught Stone Cold and all I caught was "I'll miss you, Chris." Checked WWE.com and needless to say, I'm shocked.

That was actually my first thought.

i guess we arent going to get thast eddy style of live tribute show..

maybe they will do it tomm for smackdown unless they cancelled that too

Wow, this is truly tragic. Benoit was one of my favorite all-time wrestlers. I remember watching him in his early years in the WCW and grow to be one of the best wrestlers around.

I had the pleasure of interviewing him once, and he was such a nice guy. He even put me in the Crippler Crossface.

This really sucks.

Talk about a kick to the nuts.

Its amazing that the ones that are true to the sport and give it 100% are the ones that go away far ahead of their time.
Will this still be a two hour show?
Full three hours. Vince himself said at the start of the show that this is going to be a three hour tribute to Chris.

Probably next week's Raw. At this point the news is probably still too raw (no puni intended) to deal with. Considering he had ultimate respect from everyone this has to make going out and performing practically impossible. JBL got choked up the first time he tried to speak. Expecting people to go out and wrestle would just be too much.

Ah, alright, thanks. I didn't know it was early (check the digital cable guide still said it was starting at 9) and when I realized it, the montage had already started.

Thanks.

Wow, this fucking sucks. I don't watch wrestling as much as I used to during the Monday Night Wars, you had to respet Chris Benoit. No major gimmick or anything like that. Just a guy who liked to wrestle and would do what it takes to kick your ass. RIP.

ya I'd say it has been a good year if not longer since the last time I have sat down to watch an episode of WWE. I'll be tuning in tonight though.

Amazing wrestler and athlete. He gave wrestling plenty of amazing matches and priceless moments. My first PPV party was wrestlemania 20 in which he made hhh tap out to win the world title. we will miss you! :whistle2:(
Fayette County police said they will have more info Tuesday.
Wikipedia says (grain of salt, etc.) that they also said he wasn't shot to death.
i hate to bring this up....but where is kevin sullivan...he has legit heat with benoit and nancy
I thought kevin died years ago im shocked hes still alive. What was with vinces voice... Is he just horse or sick... IN a way it sounded like he might have throat cancer. maybe that is why they killed him off i wonder if vince is really sick

off fox
Benoit, 40, was supposed to appear on a pay-per-view event last night, but didn't. The WWE said there was a "family emergency" that prevented the former world heavyweight champ from attending.

I wonder if they were found dead sooner then today but didnt want to leak the info trying to find out who did it
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities said professional wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and child were found slain Monday at their Fayette County home.

Lieutenant Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department said the three were found about 2:30 p.m., but he would release no other details.

Pope said the deaths are being investigated as homicide, but the cause of death awaits autopsy results tomorrow.

He would not say how the bodies were discovered, or who found them.

The World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Website that the 40-year-old Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son Daniel were found dead but also had no other details.

The WWE said that instead of its programming Monday night on USA Network, it would air a three-hour tribute to Benoit.

Who was the other kid in the ring when he won the title. Any clue why both children wasnt with them?

i thought i read somewhere that they found his body at 4 pm today.. so i doubt anyone knew anything yesterday..

it is very strange though that he missed a few shows.. i wonder what happenned

I am shocked about what has occured. Not what I was expecting when I turned on Raw tonight and the news that is following is even worse. Chris Benoit was a great wrestler for his time but his actions are not to be forgiven.

Can someone fix this timeline for me?

Wikipedia said his last match was today with Elijah whatever (the match they just showed). Obviously that isn't correct... so when did that match take place?

Last week, IIRC. Last Tuesday on ECW.
Last week, IIRC. Last Tuesday on ECW.
Little off topic but RAW is live , ecw is live, anyone know why they dont put smackdown on live (or is it cause Smackdown shares its shows with ecw? and ECW really wouldnt pull down a big enough crowd

Since a lot of you may not know this the woman at ringside in the Malenko match (with the long earrings) is/was Benoit's wife.

I almost fell to tears when I watched this. I don't watch wrestling anymore, but my younger brother does, and when I came into the room I was filled with shock. Chris was the man, R.I.P.

Of the four active people shown in the Hog Wild '96 match they're showing, only Dean is alive (not counting Nick Patrick, the referee, who is still alive). The Torch has reported that no one from WWE saw him after the ECW/SD tapings, and if that's true, his last match would have been against Elijah Burke, and it was a fabulous match.

God, that reminds how awful a ring name Woman was.

God bless Chris where ever you are now. Thank you for the years of entertainment and excitement you've brought me.
So this had to be a blatant attack at the Benoit family right? Not much else can explain it.
Vince McMahon mentioned something about them being in a "new suburban Atlanta home." I imagine that it would be a freak accident caused by carbon monoxide. I won't speculate otherwise until I hear more news.

So far, it's a really classy show. WWE knows how to be a classy production, and I wish they would be that way each and every week.
