CAGiversary!

After much anticipation I present...the CC 50% off sale! Let me preface the list with a few comments. This is 50% off the regular price--49.99 will be 24.99, 29.99 will be 14.99 and so on. The price that shows when the game is scanned will be the 50% off price. Essentially, the included games should range in price from $4.99-$24.99. Each individual title's price was not on the list and I'm not about to scan every game to find out. :)
Second, I was not able to confirm this directly since the price changes will be downloaded over Saturday night; however, this list is printed directly from CC internal website. I have no reason to believe any of these titles are wrong. This does not prevent CC corporate from changing these prices or titles at any point during the week. OK, I'm sure everyone is sick of me covering my back so let's have some fun...

EDIT: This sale is actually UP TO 50% off. The 50% is not guaranteed. Some will be 50%, some won't. I'll list prices for games as they come in. I apologize for getting anyone too excited.

EDIT: I've changed the format slightly. I'm listing all games alphabetically w/console listed after when necessary. I just don't have time to type multiple titles multiple times. You understand, right?

EDIT 2/6 3:35P EST: Well, it seems there has been a lot of hype and not much substance so far. This list is legit as the scans on page 9 will show; however, CC corporate is not known for downloading prices on time. There may be more price drops Tuesday morning since, if not all prices were downloaded correctly, corporate won't realize it until Monday then download them Monday night. There is also speculation that the sale will increased as late as 2/20-21 for the President's Day sale. Unfortunately, I'm unable to find out anything else until Monday at the earliest. I am going to go ahead and post prices that are listed on the thread by fellow CAGs. I can't confirm these so I'm counting on other CAGs for accuracy. Essentially, lower your expectations some but don't give up yet.

Thank you very much to twiztidjester for answering the many questions that came in while I was posting this topic. I appreciate your offer to help w/the list. I just wish I would have noticed it before. :(

Also to demonmanTNA for providing a scan of the list since I'm scannerless. X-Division rules! TNA on PPV Sunday, 2/13!

There are different value classifications for the generic stamped games. It looks like pretty much all of the value groups are included in the sale. These might not make a lot of sense (even if you work at CC) but check them anyway.

value bin 14.99-PS2
value bin 19.99-PS2 & Xbox
value bin 9.99-PS2 & PS1
value game PS1 2-pack GH (no price listed)
value program 9.99-PS1
value program 14.99-PS2 (GH), Xbox, GC & PS1 (PH)
value program 19.99-PS2 (GH), Xbox (PH) & Xbox

Well, I think this is it. Let me know if I left anything off or made any bad spelling errors. I will try to post prices as they come in. Happy hunting, everybody! :D

Thanks for the post, majinvegeta. I think I'll head to CC tomorrow and see if they've discounted the DDR bundle there yet. It'll work better for me to go tomorrow anyway.

Alot of the games mention earlier at Pasadena CC were at MSRP.

Outrun 2 - 19.99
FF:TA - 34.99
Zelda Four Swords - 49.99
VJ 2 - 39.99

Only thing I got was Taiko Drum Master.

Has anyone tried to pick up Baten Kaitos or Silent Hill 4? I'd be most interested if they got the full 50% off.

Thanks!

Y'know, having spent more than an hour today that I technically really couldn't spare going to CC and getting burned, it would have to be a hell of a deal to get me to go back for some future iteration of this sale. If I could get any of these

Everything or Nothing (GC) -

Oh, I forgot to mention, that I wouldn't have got the deals if didn't ask for the game list. I made sure that the first thing that I did was go to customer service, and ask for a list of games that were on sale. They had to get it from somewhere in the back, and none of the games were marked. They manually took off %50 on each game.
I just got back, I picked up..

Zelda: Four Sword GCN $20
Pokemon Pinball GBA $15
Golden Sun: Lost Age $20
Metroid: Zero Mission $15
Ninja Gaiden $25
Outrun 2 - $10
is he the only person who got this deal or what?

So here's another bit of gossip I've heard through the Grapevine. This week's sale (assuming there will be another markdown later) hasn't really started yet...

Supposedly the price update happens TONIGHT.

Take this with a grain of salt.
Oh god, I really hope not. I'm hoping on either the rumor that it will be next Sunday, or not at all, because I will not be able to get to a CC till next weekend. NOOOoooo
Yaeh I too don't know if I will be able to get there either tomorrow or Tuesday so a sale next Sunday would be ideal.
Seem like i have to update my buying list for tomorrow Trip!

Ninja Gaiden $25
Kirby: Amazing Mirror (GBA)
Taiko Master (PS2) 2 copies
Karaoke Revolution (PS2)
Thief (XBOX)
Yup, I'm going to have reevaluate what I'm going to get. I was planning on getting the other games that I posted on page 3 or so but they weren't working but the ones you posted are basically the ones that I am now after.
Oh, I forgot to mention, that I wouldn't have got the deals if didn't ask for the game list. You had one of the better CC experiences. I wish they would have done that to me but said that if upper management hadn't changed the prices than they weren't supposed to. i guess they still feel bad for the glitch last year.

I'm heading over to the movies to check out Million Dollar Baby tomorrow, and CC is right across from it. I'll stop in and see what they have. I'm tempted to get Taiko Drum Master but I think I'll pass on it, looks like it's not what I was expecting it to be from reading reviews. If I can walk out with a copy of XIII for only 6 bucks, I'll be happy. I want some cheapy GCN games, since I am wanting to build up my GC collection.

Were any of you guys waiting this morning outside the doors before the store opened and saw the manager giving the employees a pep talk as if they are on a sports team? And then when they let you in you have to walk through all the employees lined up on sides smiling, clapping and welcoming you to their store? I just found this to be bizarre.

Hey guys.

I didn't have the time till now to check in on this. This thread has gotten huge, so would a nice CAG summarize exactly what's going on.

Thanks

They usually do this when theres a contest of sorts between stores/managers. Its usually for the highest sales numbers or sales of a certain product for a given time. The prizes vary but if its not for the store as a whole, the manager usually gets the most benefit out of it so thats why they always make those big pep talks. I know recently the EBs in my area are seeing who can get the most GT4 preorders.

Basically, nothing. The sale was a bust, and nothing much has happened at all. Taiko Drum Master could be found at all CC's for $35, and FFXI w/ HDD was $37. Other than that, nothing.

Although there is hope for the future. Check back in the coming days.

Sure, Bottom line is the sale isn't quite as impressive as hoped. Only significant unadvertised deals include:

FFXI = $37.49
Taiko Drum Master = $34.99
Robotech Invasion = $19.99
Thief Deadly shadows = $14.99

Rumor has it that the sale may kick in at a later date - maybe Monday Night, or maybe in the next two weeks... no one knows for sure.

summarization: nothing :x

So wait a minute..

I thought these deals were supposed to start Sunday? You guys/gals mean that theres a CHANCE that games could be marked later this week and next?

Anyone check how much Castlevania Classic NES series for GBA rings up?

Aren't most of the GBA Classic series at CC 9.99. I know Ice Climbers, Bomberman, Xevious, etc. are. The only one that i know is 19.99 is The Legend of Zelda 2: the Adventure of Link

Total gayness, this is exactly what I did and nothing. Asked for a manager to complain about the shitty service I recieved from the sales associates.

Me: Can you show me the games on sale for this ad?
Retard: *looks at ad for 2 minutes*
Me: Dude, so do you know what the deal is?
Retard: They'll probably mark them tomorrow. *hands me the ad and walks away*

CC get's a huge thumbs down here. Disappointing as all hell. The Manager came back with what looked like several pages but she didn't tell me anything, she gave the list to someone else to have them help me.

Rudeness never helped anyone's cause...

Okay, so I just waded through some 20 pages of comments and speculation about the Circuit City deals. Here's what I've managed to find out (these are the things which interest me):

You can get a good deal on Final Fantasy w/ hard drive -- $37
Taiko is relatively cheap
Outrun 2 is $10 at certain CC's while $20 at others.

The 50% off deal may start Monday according to a couple people, but others said something about this being a Valentine's Day sale a week from now. . .

Some are saying this is a trap (actually Admiral Ackbar was repeating his famous line from Return of the Jedi-- LOL). Is this "sale" a trap? I think it certainly got people to spend some money in their stores this weekend, but probably not alot.

Should I go tomorrow and waste some time? I suppose I'll check it out on my lunch break. Not getting my hopes up, though. . .

Steve

I don't feel like reading through 29 pages of nothing, but I did find one game on sale.

The Polar Express (GameCube) is $9.99.

Otherwise, checked these:

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance $34.99
Resident Evil 0 $16.99
The Hulk (GameCube) $14.99
Custom Robo $39.99

Disappointing overall obviously. The list has to be for something, so everyone keep your eyes open, ears to the ground, etc. etc.

Let me put it this way... from what i could tell, the list was full of errors. But from what I read there will be an updated list coming from the corporate headquarters on monday.

To all you people out there, don't be mad at the sales associates. They don't hear anything, most of you guys know more about the sale than they do. I was just as excited about the sale as you guys, but if they don't know whats on sale or if the sale is not marked, then there isn't much that they CAN do to help you. This is also a good instance of why people shouldn't be posting lists on the internet before the sale is actually started, as the clearance prices typically change.
I just hope this sale goes online
You and me both, your horseness.

There's a few things I'd like to pick up from the sale, and if I can do them as online orders, all the easier.

uh...well i picked up evil dead for ps2 for 9.96...but i'm not really sure if that had anything to do with the sale or not.

i keep hitting up circuit city every time i hear about one of these sales, but usually leave disappointed. i snagged a couple decent games during that glitch in december, but overall, nothing has come close to the incredible summer clearance thing. it was my first CAG experience.

if this monday thing is legit, i'll report back with the results from the evergreen park, il cc as well as the ford city, il store.

let's just keep our fingers crossed that they don't get rid of anything and we can all have very happy summers again.

Sky, any price changes on CC.com doesn't happen until 2-3 AMish CST. Here's hoping but....

I was given a copy of the list from an employee at the store after it opened, and the 2 stores I did go to I said well theres a list of games and they said no so I asked someone else and they were like hold on so they checked with management who had no idea of the sale either, and started looking and found a list.

Also, you can also look at it as we kept the employees informed so lists being posted by an employee prior is just a way for the employee making sure other stores are up to date ;)

EDIT : Seems like they might have updated the website finally

It doesnt look like it,
Its kind of funny that even bad sales at CC end up getting 30 pages of discussion.
Right now, 2 pages of possible substance, 28 pages of BS posturing and speculation? :D

might as well post my experience...

arrived at CC about 3 hours after they opened. looked for the red dots, found nothing. i asked an employee where the sale games were at, she had no idea and found me a manager. the manager hadn't heard of the sale yet, so we checked the ad and some circuit city corporate website. we found the game list and a note saying that a computer error kept the price changes from happening, and that the correct prices would take effect monday morning.

since the ad claims the sale began today, he let me have any game from the list at the full 50% off. he even printed the list out for me to use while i poked around the games section.

unfortunately, i didn't have the cash to REALLY take advantage of this good fortune. just picked up a few games. but i'm sure i got prices that i probably shouldn't have.

What's interesting is that people(including me) are reporting that there are hardly any red dot's in the stores but when i went they had a HUGE stack or red dot signs behind the cash register.

There's still hope.....

I just did a random check on CC.com and it looks like nothing has changed as of 2:41 AM CST. If I'm still up at 5 AM I will check again but I'm doubtful that anything is going to change.

nice. let's not let this key fact get lost in the shuffle.

Looks like some of the prices have been updated on the site, but the deals look very lukewarm.

F Zero GP Legend - $15
Joint Ops Typhoon Rising - $20
Blinx 2 - $20

These could be price drops they are just now updating, who knows. Looks like CC went down now for updating, hopefully more on the way.

Not to call this out as BS, but how do you explain the fact that there were some price drops out already? Unless the system went down in the middle of an update - which seems entirely too convenient here - there's not really a way to justify the fact that there were markdowns and red tag signs on some games yesterday.

Here's something that I thought of during the car ride home. All of the games that were marked down on the website were also that price in stores (Taiko). Maybe the "website" update is a different "update" than the unadvertised clearence titles? Like, a different script to run?

Or something?

Anyone going to check this out at 10 am when the doors open?

If so, please report back ASAP!

Thanks.

EDIT* - It's 10:01 am on the east coast. Any news?

Considering that Blinx 2 hit that at a couple of other stores a couple of weeks ago, I think it's just normal maintenance.
I think I just heard my credit card scream
My credit card is crying...................................

Damn it this is what I miss since something called the Super Bowl occured and I was hosting a party all day....Well CC does it again just hope I find what I'm looking 4....

I went out this morning. Nothing...

I was looking for the GBA games listed... they have really cut down the GBA titles. They didn't have 90% of these in the store anymore... I did find the Spongebob and it was only $5 off.
