Cloverfield Movie Thread - DVD Out on April 22nd
Nah. Hardly anything about this movie is definite.
Drop the f-bomb twice in a movie and it's r rated. Tell me that collage age people getting killed will not say fuck more than twice and you are out of your mind.

And It will take the realism out of the whole bit.

Yeah, and John McClane should have said fuck about 60 times in Live Free or Die Hard, but they turned it down for a PG-13, to get a larger audience.
And It will take the realism out of the whole bit.
Oh, right, I forgot. This movie is 100%, absolutely realistic. I mean, the whole impossible, nonsensical Statue-of-Liberty's-head thing, and the fundamental fact that this movie is about a giant monster don't undermine it's attempt at utter, perfect realism at all.

Please.

Look, I'm not trying to predict what sort of language or violence content this movie will have, or what grade of realism they're aiming for, or what sort of rating they're expecting. What I'm saying is that people assuming and baselessly predicting things about a movie that is as intentionally mysterious and as secretive as Cloverfield is, and a movie about which so little real, concrete information is available, is really, really, really foolish.

Yeah, i know it isn't realistic.

While the dialog that was "sneaked out" by that disgruntled person on set read utterly horriblly, the snippets of background/spoiler story actually do sound like that would be a Hollywood story. 2 separate early life single/multi cellular organisms, one providing nourishment the other the parasite/predator, blah blah blah.

Meh, now I'm starting to hope it is the damn slusho 6 robot combiner. Driven by a short little Japanese man...that would be hilariously bad.

i have heard that there are going to be some big creatures but mostly its going to be smaller velociraptoresque creatures hunting down groups.

remember, an Anagram analysis found that the phrase "You can't drink just six" can also be "a toxic industry’s junk"

i think thats a big clue

Take that last spoiler with a brick of salt. It gives up too much info (Bitten... can't be a robot... maybe giant zombies?) to be so.

From Monstrous to Wreck?

I can pretty much guarantee that by us reporting this, it will either be denied or changed - again. We learned exclusively here at Bloody-Disgusting that JJ Abrams' monster movie was in fact going to be titled "Monstrous", but was changed the second it hit the web (man we all gossip way too much!) Now it's our turn to ruin a possible title for the Matt Reeves' helmed giant monster movie, which wrapped last month in Los Angeles and New York... the title just might be..........

im not gonna let this thread die...its seems as though there is nothing new happening in the world of Cloverfield...hopefully something new happens

all this continuous hype and on going coverage for this movie has left me uninterested in seeing it when it comes out. Like I said before, the producers should have given us that teaser and that is it...let us speculate for the next several months til the movie comes out to see what the hell it's about.

yep, it's gonna be Monstrous alright....a Monstrous flop at the box office. :whistle2:\

I will see this trailer ASAP online (by any resolution necessary), as I have no interest in seeing that 300-piggybacking pic, demonic Jolie or not.

By the way, is it totally out of the realm of possibility that there is even a tangential connection to LOST? I just find the timing of its release (and the release date itself) intriguing along those lines. Maybe even a couple 'Easter Egg' references, anyway?

its in the same world as Lost and Alias i think....since slusho was in an episode of Alias, and those candy bars in Lost are some how related to Cloverfield, but thats pretty much it (all of these 3 are by JJ abrams)

Here's a description of the upcoming trailer:

It opens with text:

Multiple sightings of case designate 'Cloverfield'
Camera retrieved at incident site 'U.S. 447'
(Area formerly known as Central Park)

Then we see the footage from the teaser trailer, mostly fast forwarded up to the end, with the explosion and the Statue of Liberty's head landing in the middle of the street. Then there's a guy speaking into the camera.

Guy: My name is Robert Hawkins. Approximately seven hours ago, someTHING attacked the city.

There are flashes of chaos. Much of the trailer is made up of split second moments, and when combined with the fact that it's extreme shaky cam style and that I was watching a terrible copy, it can be hard to make things out. There's a helicopter shot of the headless Statue of Liberty.

Guy again: I have no idea what it is. If you found this,if you're watching this thing, you know more about it than i do.

Then there's a shot of jets flying overhead, in daylight.

A title card reads 'From producer JJ Abrams'

There's more flashes of chaos, there's a guy on a cellphone trying to find out where 'Beth' is, and then there's a girl yelling, 'We cannot go in the middle of the city! we've got to get out of here!'

More chaos. More quick shots. I imagine this stuff will be picked apart when the trailer debuts online.

Over this is what seems to be a conversation between an Army guy and a girl.

Army dude: There's nothing we can do right now

Girl: do you know what that thing is?

Army dude: Whatever it is, it's winning.

More flashes. An argument:

Guy 1: We have no idea what's out there!

Guy 2: I don't care what's out there. Listen to me - she's dying!

Then there's footage of army guys running and shadows on a wall. Shadows of a screaming woman being attacked by a small monster (possibly two - either she's being pulled away from the monster by someone behind her or there's another monster behind her). It's confirmed: the movie has a big beast and small ones. Like the American Godzilla.

People are hiding in a store, and there are huge thumps making everything shake. The windows of the store explode in.

The big sequence is next: Army guys running up a street, firing into the air. Tanks come up behind them, firing. Rockets launch up.

We see the big monster briefly passing between two buildings. I couldn't make it out at all, but it appeared to be HUGE.

Characters race down subway steps, there's a giant explosion, the cameraman is down, there's a figure in a tunnel, people are yelling 'Run!' and running through the tunnel.

Outside of Central Park, a horse drawn carriage goes by.

Guy: Are you still filming?

Cameraman: Yeah. People are going to want to know... how it all went down.

Shot of the Brooklyn Bridge. A helicopter taking off. Some chaos. Then inside the copter girls screaming as the copter spins out of control.

Cut to black, then the title comes up: Cloverfield.

Then the text: End of tape

Then the release date: 1-18-08

now I HAVE to see this trailer/Movie :|

I am a sucker for movies with big special effects, weither it's a good movie or bad movie (Godzilla 1998)

No it's not, directors like adding little things like that in their shows, it doesn't mean they are connected. If you watched Lost at all you would know that.
It's official, Cloverfield is the title. The trailer shot via camera phone can also be found in the link:

i guess ill have to wait for better quality, i watched the first 2 seconds and i could barely see stuff

thanks for posting though...i forgot about this

Beowolf?

I guess they are trying to ease the pain for the people who actually go and seen beowolf.

It will be on the interweb soon after.

This movies seems like one of this movies that can not be in the middle.

Either its amazing...or its the shittiest thing ever. God I hope its awsome though.

This is a better quality than that camera phone shit

http://1-18-08news.com/second-cloverfield-trailer-and-analysis/

And it has a description with some cool stuff afterwards

The audio is fucked up and the video is still not so clean, but it's decent until a better version comes out

Flipping the pictures is old, but I don't remember one with that Asian shit. Then again, I lost interest in this months ago.

Actually, Beowulf has gotten some pretty decent reviews thusfar... like... 79% on Rottentomatoes.
People are saying the chick behind the sheets is exploding. Theres two guys in biohazard suits near her.
That is what I saw.
yea it sounded like the girl was getting eaten...

but if you cut the sound, it looked like 2 guys in a biochemical suit

HOLY SNAP!!!!!

THE CLOVERFIELD MONSTER!!!
Concerning the new trailer...

Did everyone see the two giant "hamsters" behind the sheet? What the hell is that?
Just saw the trailer last night when I saw Beowulf...totally looked like a giant hamster or something like that...though they did show a giant monster moving through the buildings...maybe its...Godzilla and Godzuki...

In all seriousness though, the trailer was badass, you have to see it in theaters since the quicktime version or youtube version don't do it justice. Can't wait to see this movie in theaters.
