[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

i THINK it'll be for tomorrow since eshop work is being done and the dates of the current ones were pushed to ending today
Thats so weird it said 12/8 this mroning. I'm surrpised they even bothered changing ti to 12/9.

I'm interested in the 3DS - Wii U eShop connecton as well. I haev a Wii U w/ 4 accounts - mine is the master or main or whatever - bu the other 3 people in my household each haev their own NNID adn 3DS. My account on the Wii U is the only 1 we even buy anythign on though.

Is the Wii U update finished yet? My PSN was down also and Im waiting to buy Ni No Kuni for $9.79. So I'm n here waiitng and shopping.

I know this isn't club Nintendo related but I wanted to post my post about discounted eshop cards here at Best Buy.com http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/324253-best-buy-discounted-nintendo-eshop-prepaid-cards-20-for-16-50-for-40/ Is this douchey to post this here?
Aw, I love corgies! Anyway, good call. Personally, I bought a load of the eShop cards. I buy my Nintendo stuff digitally, so this is like free money to me. If I had more money, I'd buy more discounted eShop cards. Probably will never happen again, but I hope it does at least yearly.

The way I understand it, each 3DS can only have one account on it, unlike Wii Us, which can have multiple accounts. I only have one account on my Wii U, so I'm not sure how it works.

Fantastic timing for them to add ALTP to the WiiU so people can have the chance to get it from CN and upgrade.  Even more excited to play it now.

So wait a damn second, my kids are both getting a 3ds xl for Christmas and I'm going to register them to my account for the points and warranty extension, how the hell does this work? I don't want them sharing their points. Is this Club Nintendo based or some other account?
Two completely different things.

Yeah, I don't even remember picking my reward, if I did in fact pick anything at all.

A Link Between Worlds has one of the best soundtracks in video game history. I wouldn't mind a Club Nintendo digital MP3 download of the complete soundtrack.
The Lorule Overworld music is maybe the most badass thing I've ever heard.

Glad I bought ALttP, I'm going to use my wii as little as possible since my cat chewed up a few sensor bars already and I'd rather have the upscaled version on my wii u pad.

That said I just linked my wii u, picked up NSLU last week on sale, then got SM3DW and WWHD on sale this week and am already gold for next year.

The Lorule Overworld music is maybe the most badass thing I've ever heard.
Yep, it's awesome. Fantastic arrangement of the track from A Link to the Past and maybe the best thing on the whole A Link Between Worlds soundtrack, a really great track amongst really great tracks.

The music is better than Fire Emblem's?
Well, maybe "better" isn't a good way to talk about it, so I apologize for being so hyperbolic. BUT, I would put it up there with Fire Emblem: Awakening, yep, and with Etrian Odyssey IV.

One thing to keep in mind is that A Link Between Worlds capitalizes upon nostalgia, and the soundtrack is no different. The Zelda 3 soundtrack is inked into my memory, and A Link Between Worlds re-arranges so many songs from that game, and does it so freaking phenomenally well.

Why couldn't Final Fantasy IV have had a "sequel" like this with such a fantastic soundtrack?

I've got my 3DS updated and linked it to my Nintendo Network ID, but when I try to do the eShop update or the Mii Plaza update, I get an error.  I hope this is not just me or something wrong with my account or...?

Thats weird. I entered my info and it worked perfectly. Sad to see reports were accurate that it is limited to community features though. =[

I get error 011-3051 when I try to log into the eShop.  I hope it's just still down for maintenance or something.  And when I try to do the Mii Streetpass Plaza update, it signs my Nintendo ID in just fine, but then it sits on "Preparing..." with the progress bar for an age, never filling, and I get error 026-3051.

I got the 3051 error too, but closed out and rebooted system, and now everything is just dandy :)

Same here.

Miiverse works great for me, but I get an error when I try to do the eShop update or Mii Streetpass Plaza updates.
The eShop update didn't complete and when I click Miiverse, I get an error. It's definitely worth waiting for those of you who haven't tried to update yet.

Looks like they removed transfer limits with the update. Color me shocked, Nintendo is actually catching up with the times (Sorta...)
They still have a long ways to go before their Nintendo eShop is comparable to Valve's Steam Store, but considering that I just recently purchased The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL, I am grateful to no longer have a limit for system transfers. They also really need to integrate both the Wii U and 3DS eShop digital stores together with a single User ID that persists online (Club Nintendo ID maybe?) instead of the physical System ID for digital content. I am also glad that they have finally started having sales on their digital offerings. For a long time, "discount" and "sale" were words not in the Nintendo eShop vocabulary.

I had forgotten that I wanted to get Dillon's Rolling Western. But it is still up (1:15 AM on the 10th) and I just snagged it.

So I guess I should get A Link To The Past too, eh?

They just added it to the WiiU eShop earlier apparently so you can pay the $1.50 to upgrade it to that version. I think it's worth it for that alone.

I'm trying to read through pages and pages of this thread to figure this out. But is it available from Club Nintendo right now? That seemed to be the implication - but I don't see it there. I'd only do it if I could get it from there and then upgrade. For all I know I already have it - would have to look at the Wii mode which I never do any more ;).

Yeah, I saw it after I posted. For whatever reason, when I was logged in earlier I did not see it - just saw the regular LoZ for 3DS.

BUT - I decided I should check my Wii U before I bought it. Turns out I did have it on my Wii already - I probably bought it when it first came out on the Wii VC years ago.

I was also looking through my account history and it looks like I redeemed for Super Mario RPG but I don't think I ever put that on my Wii. Now to find that damn code...

Yeah, I wish I had been getting Wii games like Super Mario RPG but I hadn't expected to ever get a Wii/U so didn't see the point at the time.

Crap - can't find the email and I never put it on the Wii. I wonder if I contact them if they'll tell me what it was. I somehow doubt it.

According to my account that was in May of this year - so I redeemed it specifically in case it ever showed up on the Wii U VC. Same with Paper Mario (in Feb.) - though that one I seem to have put on the Wii at least.

you should be able to find it in your club nintendo redeemed items page in the settings :|

edit nvm :| I thought I saw it there once :|

email should be from:

and title of email should be :

Yeah I thought I saw them there before which is why I didn't worry about the emails.

I ordered this on my wife's Club Nintendo account and she regularly deletes all her email so it is gone on our end. I contacted them about it so we'll see what happens.

I see that my 3DS wants a system update so that appears to be corrected even though I see people having issues with this latest firmware. However, for my Wii U, it just sits there when I try to get to the eShop and then times out. Is this still happening to others as I am not getting the down for maintenance message now, as it is only a matter of never connecting. Thanks!

To those who have updated their 3DS: does it now force you to have a Nintendo Network ID, or can I keep things as they were?

The way it was written out sounded like you need a NNID to do anything with the eShop now, but I can't prove that. i just made one because I have no reason not to (only one 3DS).

I see that my 3DS wants a system update so that appears to be corrected even though I see people having issues with this latest firmware. Yeah, I had issues connecting just a short while ago as well.

Thank you for this. I was losing my mind troubleshooting my wireless router and Wi U settings. :)

I got a $50 for $40 eShop card at Best Buy and wanted to redeem and I wish that Nintendo really did get with the times and linked your funds to one Network account or at the very least, allow you to use a PC/MAC to do certain transactions via web browser. I'll just wait and it seems that Sony wanted to follow Nintendo and update their Vita system firmware as well as the PSN store. LOL

this update consolidates your eshop account funds on Wii u and 3DS as long as they are using the same ID.

also browser purchases are coming next year. as well as mobile purchases (buying stuff through an eshop online :|)
